His (Brad) rep gave the following statement to TMZ: “We are very disappointed that Vanity Fair has chosen to put an unauthorized cover on their magazine. It seriously makes me question their integrity and motives.”
We should pay special attention to the last sentence,
INTEGRITY and MOTIVES
ET showed a new Cameron Diaz photo spread…in some upcoming mag, can’t recall which one…maybe W? But her pics were gorgeous…she was airbrushed beyond belief, because everyone knows her skin looks like the moon, and her nose is like a hamhock….
…..but what struck me about the pics…is HOW MUCH, she or whomever was going for a serious Angelina-like quality….the long dark hair…the smoldering looks…Cameron was channeling AJ BIG TIME!
Is it just me, or does it slightly steam you to see people co-opting the Angie-ness (be it Madge, or Cam, or whomever)?
Plus, after years of saying she loved her broken flat messed up nose, Cameron is now saying, ‘I’m fixing it. I’m over it.’ LOLOL
That too is probably Angie related…seeing that gorgeous face and perfect schnoz on the cover of mags, puts even beauties like Cameron on high alert.
They need to do their own thing and get off of Angelina though.

I really like to know the facts about issues from Brad and Angie themselves because everyone wants to cash in on their names, so let’s wait and see on the VF article.

I agree with Original jpf. I don’t think B or A hold any grudge against VF, at least not to the point of never doing an article with them, or be on their covers. They probably will never do an interview with L Bennett, and I think that’s about it.Just because she works for VF doesn’t mean she owns it or represents it. It’s all business. And the fact they put B&A on their cover is a flattery to B&A. They are saying, we know you are big movie stars, and our mags will sell with you on the cover. As for this issue to outsell the one with X last year, I am sure it won’t. Not because X has more fans than B&A, but because people know that there is no tell-all interview by BP in this issue. If there were something sensational to be revealed by BP, I am sure it will sell well.

Well, well, WELL! I have to say I was seriously taken aback by this whole VF cover thing. I agree with AG, I will not buy this mag. IF the TMZ article is true, and I know it may not be, but IF it is, then you guys are right that it is a sneaky underhanded thing to do, just to get BP on their cover. AND under this whole false pretense of it being an “ART ISSUE”. GMAFB! They don’t give two sh*ts about this Wilson dude, and no way would he be getting exposure in a national mag if he didn;t have the BP footage.
Brad probably feels betrayed.

The reason I think we shouldn’t buy this mag because it will send a message to the losers at Vanity Fair. A loud and clear message that you can’t mess with fans and the public like the way they have.

ITA!! In this instance, I think we should put our indignation regarding VF’s conduct in writing. I doubt they would publish our letters, but have no problems publishing letters decrying VF’s choice, in the wake of the pain he caused X TWO YEARS AGO. But maybe there are other ways to let our feelings be known. I don’t know if an online petition is in order, but anyone who’s an expert about what to do, please advise.

Stardust, in my thinking, VF didn’t violate BP’s trust. Jennifer Aniston and her posse were the culprits. That interviewer was seriously unprofessional in allowing her own personal opinion to color the piece as it did, and she crossed the line as a journalist to the point that she shouldn’t even refer to herself as one anymore and keep a straight face while doing it, but even she at the end of the day did not violate BP’s trust. She asked the questions, she interjected her own peronal opinions, but it ultimately was Jennifer Aniston and the TGC who raked Brad over the coals, and Jennifer Aniston allowed it. I think I read somewhere that she cried foul on one part of it, but that’s it. In the end JA gave Leslie B. the interview, and VF printed it.

Exactly…I couldn’t have said it better if I tried. It is the principle of the thing….(don’t ask what the thing is but believe me, there is a thing). Jeez, the more I think about it, the more peeved I am. I am well aware that it’s just business to them but they should also understand these are people’s lives. When that Silly woman…Leslie whatshername, was writing that crap, did it occur to her for one sec that AJ and BP’s kids might read this one day? Of course not, God forbid they actually think of something other than money. In my opinion, that article gave birth to the people we now call the Fanistons (lol). Say…. why aren’t they beating their golden girl’s door down….I’m sure people would loooove to know how she’s “coping” after her terrible ordeal…you know, the ordeal which warranted such a hateful article…My God, even people who have had loved one murdered don’t get that level of nastiness written about the murderers.
At this point, I’d gladly buy a dozen STAR magazines, 2 dozen In Touch, 2 dozen Life and styles and 4 dozens NE with BP on the cover before I buy VF. At least with these magazines, you know what you about to read is pure fiction and you don’t expect unbiased writing from them.
Original JPF and others, I agree that Brad isn’t going to get hung up and vindictive about talking to Vanity Fair, or Oprah. He’s a professional who’s going to do what needs to be done to promote this films, image etc.. I’m sure he understands the game and doesn’t take it all that personally.
It would be interesting to see if Brad actually signed away all rights to the use of his image to the photographer. The devil is in the fine print. Did he really sign away all rights? For example, did he sign away rights allowing the photos or video to be photoshopped and used in a pornographic movie? It would be interesting to find out if Brad does indeed pursue legal action against the photographer.
As for Lainey, I’m going to speak up in defence of that lady. She can’t help the conspiracy bit, she’s chinese. Gossip about clothes, relationships, whatever, aren’t really all that important and she is entitled to speculate - same as anyone else. At least she admits, she doesn’t know more then the next person what is happening in the BAMZS camp. She can speculate about Brad and Angelina but on the important issue of whether they had welched on giving to charity, she stepped up to the plate and won me over as a fan.
I’m pretty sure Brad and Angelina would want their charity work to be reported accurately.
Lainey DID WRITE TO THE AFRICAN CHARITIES and verified that the money was donated - which is more then you or I or what all those newspapers, including reputable ones like Sydney Morning Herald, had bothered to do, though the latter did print a correction. Lainey did write about how her sources had informed her that Brad stayed the whole day in HfH building, and now verified by PEOPLE magazine. When I read that he had only worked for 1/2 an hour, I knew people like Ritzygal was going to show up with the article. It would appear that these newspapers got it WRONG AGAIN.
I don’t think anyone needs to go on national TV or call People magazine to clarify whether or not they are or are not in a relationship, had or had not had a boob job, whatever, even if the news was reported in CNN or the BBC. I do think that reports on charitable work done by celebrities, should be responsibily and accurately reported because if people think that Celebrities are only doing it for publicity and are not going to follow through, it could turn the public off very worthwhile causes and issues. I for one, hope no one follows K Fed to Botswana or whereever he thinks he wants to go. he would make the seriousness of highlighting the plight of the poor and underprivileged in Africa, India, China and elsewhere a joke.

Juligen - I agree that someone needs to tell why VF was wrong but I don’t think it will prove that Brad is not hot stuff anymore. Because I said I wouldn’t buy a magazine that maligned him in the past and is being underhanded about the way they got these pics. That doesn’t mean that I won’t buy any other magazines that feature Brad or Angie on the cover. I’ll still buy those other magazines and I’ll still see their movies. I just think this one time, VF needs to put to be put in their place.

I disagree ntt.
That’s the whole point. Brad’s people stressed ‘unauthorized’ — I don’t know too much about Hollywood, but I know enough that putting an ‘unauthorized’ photo - which was done FOR THE ARTIST by THE ACTOR…or any other kind of unauthorized pic, PERIOD, of a BIG MOVIE STAR is almost NEVER done. Especially when you’re talking mags of this caliber. Afterall, they’re not The Enquirer.
Reputable magazines almost always want it cleared with the big stars, precisely because they aren’t interested in winding up on the stars bad side, and having them not do another cover. Most stars are okay with old pics from old shoots (also known as ‘file’ shots) being used on the covers of mags like Good Housekeeping or Redbook or other magazines, that typically don’t conduct ‘photo shoots’ per se. It’s business for the mag, and publicity for the star.
But Brad is not only beyond that — Vanity Fair was thought to be BEYOND that as well. They are NOT some hairstyle magazine, they don’t need ti lower themselves to these kinds of machinations.
But having stooped so low with maniston, they haven’t got far to fall.
This is very telling, in that their actions tell me that Brad made it known a while back, that he was cutting ties or not working with them — and so VF is obviously not too concerned about burning bridges with Brad, hence we get him in his underwear, doing an artistic ‘thing’ that 90% of the public that watches ET or reads their mag, won’t get. This was a hit job on Brad, no mistake.
Something else he can thank Maniston for.
I’m sure they’ll repay Brad by having Maniston round two, in the not so distant future, or perhaps go one better and have a ‘revealing’ interview with Vaughn, and get Leslie Bennetts to do the write up. I can see it now, Vaughn will be positioned by the COW as the white knight who SAVED the whiny damsel in distress from her humiliation at the hands of the lying cheating scumbag who’s minus a sensitivity chip.
Mark my words. I call it.
To really turn the knife, they’ll have ‘Vaughniston’ hold court at the Vanity Fair party on Brad’s night.
This is the kind of stuff that gets editors w/ God complexes booted out the door.

AG…..ITA….i never bought fashion magazine like VF except MORE….i’m a subscriber…early 40’s you know :) ….Brad should file a lawsuit against VF coz they used his image without his permission….his image is his trademark….that son of a gun VF is kissing his ass after they kicked him to the curve with that chinleatherskinton’s interview….slandering him and angie’s reputation….Braddy should also kick their asses back for using his image without his permission, eventhough the photo/videographer give a nod (maybe not???) to VF….consent for using his image is between him and the photog and i think he still has a say who can use it…..jmo….

X went on LK, I think (I read it on Yahoo news), to comment on the article. Never said anything about L Bennett’s defamation of AJ, but did correct the ‘erroneous’ reporting that she cried twice in the interview. She said something like: “I was depicted as a crier, wasn’t I? I actually only cried once”. That’s why I despise her so much. She only cares about how she is perceived, and would give a damn on how others are slandered to make her look good. I actually was glad when I read her VF article. I thought right away that she shot herself in the foot. But I didn’t believe the article 100%, until she commented about it. She shot herself in the other foot with it. That’s why, BP was able to move on so quickly. People who didn’t read the article blame him for it, but the ones who did, say to him: “you go Brad! no more mr Nice Guy. That hag doesn’t deserve it.”

I don’t mind Lainey’s conspiracy theories except when she has a double standard. Paltrow goes to the Babel premiere and Lainey keeps mum and stops being her typical paranoid self, but as soon as Brad and Angie are photographed simply taking their kids to the park, conspiracies abound suddenly in her head. And she is simply demeaning the way she puts the fans down.

I completely agree with you about Lainey. I couldn’t have said it better my self. And yes I applaud her for her effort to correct the false story about Brad and Angie’s donation in Namibia but lets be realistic here. She didn’t do it because she wants her readers to know the truth. She did it simply to show off and be the queen of the “psychotic Brangelinas” as she called us today!

I respect your opinion, but just like mine, it still is an opinion. There hasn’t been anything concrete to suggest that either of our mindsets are the correct one, and until something comes along to change that, this simply is a matter of each having decided that what we individually think, is the more likely route he’d take. I’m in no way ever going to suggest that what I choose to believe is gospel when I’ve come to my opinion piecemeal; taking this said, that said, and choosing to view Brad as someone not sweating any of this. You may be very correct, but I’m just not comfortable saying something is etched in stone when it hasn’t even been written in sand that I know of.

I so much agree with what you said regarding BP, and Lainey. Her note about BP staying longer at the Habitat site came before the Update by People.
Just something on the side, I have always enjoyed reading your posts. They are so well thought out, and so elegantly put into words.

jpf…I totally get what you’re saying but Leslie whatsherface is a representative of VF. Let’s say, she lost all objectivity as soon as the door opened, Ms. Crybaby aka Woman-child burst into uncontrollable tears…. she sees this and thinks “God damn you Angelina Jolie…. wherever you are. How can you do this to this poor innocent soul? Oh, I now crown myself avenger of the defenseless” she then proceeds to add her own little side notes like “the twice-divorced Jolie — previously known as a tattooed vixen with a taste for bisexuality, heroin, brotherly incest, mental institutions, and wearing her husband’s blood…..woman who adopts children to cover up scandals, who uses her UN job for publicity” into the article, okay… we can still excuse this by saying she fell for the poor me act but then the editor reads it and does not call her on it….like “Okay Les, Hon…this is not your husband or the guy who stood you up last week…so chill out on the whole name calling and the personal opinion thingy, okay”, instead she lets it go to print. Come now, where is the objectivity….any first year Media comm. Student knows about taking a neutral stance during an interview where your freaking opinion isn’t called for. Jeez, I wonder where the editor was, when they taught that one in class…probably nursing a hangover. Anyway, the fact that VF allowed that article, with avenger Leslie’s own personal feelings peppered all over it, to be published is what I have a problem with.
I agree with you that BP is not holding a grudge…the man is way too busy to think about it and my feelings aren’t based on whether or not he might be holding a grudge. My disgust stems from is they fact that, after what they wrote about him, VF makes no bones about using his image without his consent for an article that isn’t about him…because they know it’s gonna sell.
BBL….I have to run to CVS for more candy… who knew parents still allowed their kids to consume this much sweet.
