And you know what else? It *almost* seems like Brad and Angie are living a wee bit like the rest of us here….Dad goes off to work on the job site, Mom goes off to work for the day, the kids are in “day care”, and everyone comes home to a frantic, chaotic dinner and bedtime for the kids in the evening. Practically makes them seem even a little on the “normal” side, huh?

Although, I swear, none of my neighbors look like that…….

I am sure Brad is loving a chance to just do regular guy stuff and get dirty.

Popbytes.com has a picture of Angie from Star Magazine’s new cover claiming that she is pregnant again. I absulately can not see a bump. SInce JJ was not up and running for a while I have been looking some other sights, and pregnancy rumors are all over the place. That’s the reason she can’t keep any food down, fainted total of three times, just had to have some Mexican food in India(?) blah blah blah…

Maria: that never happened. she has admitted that she lied about that during their divorce in the early nineties. He married her when he was 21 and she was 47.

With Brad’s presence there this project is getting very much press in the media witch most likely it wouldn’t have without him here. Jimmy Carter and his wife and people that worked with him are very grateful to have Brad helping them out. And now people who are really interested to contribute and learn more about it will have the opportunity to learn some more info and spread it to others that they might be interested. Brad once again is using his star status to do a great thing. He helped for tow homes to be built with his own hands for tow homeless families. Brad is also involved in the Global Green project in New Orleans and by doing this he is promoting both of them. It’s called kill to birds with one stone. He is a very smart guy and knows how to send a message by being associated with things that really matters.

Hey Ivy! I remember when he married her — it was a big deal back then since she was older than he was. Gosh, not nice of her to lie like that. Maybe it was the ‘other woman’ anger thing. Glad it’s out that she lied, though. I didn’t think he was cute back then, but he’s turned out pretty nice…………grew into his body, as my Mum would say.

TP: The man “knows how to work his show” — as we say in The Apple. Good for him and those families he’s help. Good that we have an X President who’s out there helping and not just ‘talkin’ about helping. I really liked Jimmy Carter. Too bad that hostage ‘caca’ happened on his watch.

Cambodian aid worker threatens to counter-sue Angelina Jolie

PHNOM PENH - A Cambodian aid worker facing possible legal action for allegedly embezzling funds from actress Angelina Jolie’s charities claimed Wednesday he was innocent and that she had been duped by rivals trying to undermine him.

Mounth Sarath, the director of Cambodian Vision in Development (CVD), said that if Jolie continued to withold funds he claimed were owed to him by the Oscar-winning philanthropist, he would lodge a counter-lawsuit against her.

The row erupted after Jolie terminated a funding agreement with CVD and set up a new, independent Cambodian organisation to administer a forest conservation project to be implemented in areas of the nation’s remote north-west.

Her advisors have alleged that hundreds of thousands of dollars remain unaccounted for from when CVD managed her projects, and have threatened legal action through the Cambodian courts to recoup them.

‘I have received a letter from Angelina Jolie saying she planned to sue me,’ Sarath confirmed by telephone.

‘Now I am thinking of a plan to sue her back because the project was budgeted for 1.5 million dollars for 2003 to 2008 but so far I have only received 200,000 dollars. From 2003 to now I should have received more than one million.’

Sarath claimed that at least one rival organization had met with Jolie before CVD was cut out of the funding and he accused jealous competitors for funding of falsely leading her to believe he was corrupt and lacked the capacity to fulfill his duties when he was actually managing and delegating funds and work to others.

Sarath said he held no grudge against Jolie personally, but that he still wanted the balance of funding he felt was owed to his organization.

‘How can they say I am corrupt?’ Sarath said. ‘They think I have no capacity, but my specialty is management. What I was doing was subcontracting work to others.’

He claimed he has been unable to honour those subcontracts since funding was transfered to the 31-year-old actress’s new conservation group, the Maddox Jolie Project, named after her 5-year-old son Maddox, whom she adopted from Cambodia in 2002.

The executive director of the Maddox Jolie project, Stephan Bognar, was in meetings Tuesday and unavailable for comment. However he was quoted in Tuesday’s Cambodia Daily as saying that Sarath had failed to return six motorcycles and a Toyota Landcruiser since CVD’s funding was frozen.

Jolie’s advisors have also alleged they have a paper trail indicating funds disappeared while the project was being managed by CVD.

But despite the public slanging match and threats of legal action from both sides, Sarath said Tuesday he had still not given up hope of working with Jolie again.

‘I appeal to the lawyers and Angelina Jolie, please think about this. I still want to implement the project. Please give me the funds as promised,’ he said.

Jolie, who has been awarded honorary Cambodian citizenship for her extensive charitable work there and owns property in the former Khmer Rouge stronghold of Samlot, has pledged to provide up to 1.3 million dollars over five years for the conservation program.

The ambitious project was given the green light by the Cambodia government in 2003. Jolie fell in love with Cambodia while filming at Angkor Wat for the 2001 movie, Lara Croft - Tomb Raider.

What long term result did the trip to Haiti make? The same thing was said then by posters here then that “this trip to Haiti is bringing heightened awareness to the plight of Haitians!”. What changed? The fact is, any real changes will be done by people more powerful than these two actors, at diplomatic levels. They have no real influence or real contribution to make at the ground level. The long term impact of their visit is negligible but they get credibility as “humanitarians for a day” by doing a photo shoot…. or an “ambassadorial” visit…. or laying a few bricks when there is nothing to do on set…and he is bored. So he pretends to be a construction worker and gets out that costume, and bingo ! Mr Glamours is a stereotype. “Don’t sweat it will ruin your hair !” Click. Anon, maybe you should check the actual procedures being followed by Habitat for Humanity. They focus on “sweat equity” in building homes for the poor (and have many volunteers who do office work and community development). The website is habitat.org if you want to know more.

I think you misunderstood what I said. IMO, a man playing with his kids is way sexier than perfect abs, ass, and shoulders. I don’t get why my particular flight of fancy is being demonized whereas others are more graphic and sexual. There is nothing wrong with their fantasies and there’s certainly nothing wrong with mine.

I’m sure that if the photogs got images of naked BP or fully clothed BP, playing with his kids, through unethical means, few of us would enjoy looking at them. Mind you, we did enjoy the art pics until we discovered VF’s unethical use of them.

I know at times we are all guilty of presuming what might be going on in B&A’s heads, but I really do not agree that they do these things out of some kind of guilt. I think they do it because they really want to, and that they are fully aware that what they are doing isn’t going to change the world or make a long-term impact…. but that’s how the world gets changed, right? One step at a time? One small gesture or effort at a time? Any of us who has ever volunteered at a soup kitchen or donated to Good Will knows that our effort is a mere drop in the bucket, but at least it’s *something*, and it is done out of a genuine desire to help people. One should never underestimate the power of a small group of determined people to change the world.

That may be a Pollyanna, pie-in-the-sky approach to life, but there’s nothing wrong with being idealistic.

I also realize that B&A know exactly what they are doing, and yeah, sure, there are movies and projects to promote, but I seriously feel that is not the whole motivation.

What if Brad comes back several times to work….all week maybe, and works everyday? Would you still say the same thing?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I’m sure they have some fans who don’t find them attractive but still like them. You don’t have to find a celeb attractive to enjoy their work… wheather it’s their humanitarian work or movies.

i don’t get why people care why we are fans of these two. I think some people can’t stand that these two actually have fans that will stick up for them.

Anon…hmmm…I agree with a lot of what you said–especially about Haiti. But Wyclef wanted to get some positive press for his country (he’s doing the real work) and he wanted to do it in a splashy way. Invite Angie which would automatically net him Brad too. She says a few nice words to the assembled press about what a beautiful country Haiti is and how strong and noble the people are and job done! Wyclef looks like a hero to his people for arranging it all.

What actually came of it for the country? The people? Yele Haiti get’s $500 grand. Maybe some kids get some school uniforms and books and the rest goes to overhead. Angie (and Brad) gets to tick off another country on the world map to firmly cement them as concerned global humanitarians. Nothing wrong with that but I too shy away from making a bigger deal out of these things than they actually are.

Brad worked for approx 4 hours today and I think that’s great! Brad’s a producer of AMH but he’s not the exec producer. Brad’s role in this film was optioning the book because he liked it. He really has no role in day to day decisions during production. Maybe in “pre-”, maybe in “post-” (depending on whether or not he exerts himself in that way) but in a way, he’s like the Queen of England–in theory should be the leader of everything but in reality, is not.

Brad never spent a day on the set of “The Departed.” Why? Because he didn’t need to. The actual running of the productions are done by other people.

It’s a good thing that he came back to help out. With no real role on the set, it would be all Angelina all the time and NO relationship needs that kind of constant togetherness! Their time in India is winding down and this was the perfect opportunity to:

1. Do some genuine good and help people with the skills and knowledge that he has cultivated for himself on such things.

2. Be seen as doing some good APART from Angelina.

3. Cement his status as the most deliciously yummy man i’ve ever seen. :)

So, how do you quantify just how much he “contributed” today? After money, his biggest asset is press attention to anything he does. But does this house not get built if he decided not to show up and the press were not there to cover it? No! Do future houses not get built because of no future press coverage? No.

So what we judge him on is his actual time spent and how hard he worked. He was just one cog in the machine that is HFH in India this week but aside from Harrison Ford, maybe, I can’t think of any movie star who would have dived in as he appears to have done and worked as well and a hard as he did. We know he LOVES his kids and he could have been with them but he chose to try and do as much as he could to help out. I love him for that.

And at the end of the day, we’re all human and we all love the feeling when we can help someone in need and i’m sure this has been wonderfully satisfying for him.

You sound like a very bitter person. The same can be said of anyone who volunteers. Truthfully, the motivation to do a “good deed” is partially selfish and I think most people acknowledge that.

People on this site are fans of Brad Pitt mostly and this is the reason they praise him. There are fans of other celebrities and when that celebrity does a “good deed” those same fans are being “manipulated” too. However, I think that is a bit what celebrity is all about.

At the end of the day you don’t know BP from Adam so you are not a qualified source on who he is or who he’s not. All of what you’ve said is nothing but opinion and conjecture based on your own personal bias. You have that right, but how dare you thin anyone on here is so naive that they will be manipulated by the likes of you and your agenda, which is to justify your dislike of a celebrity to one of their fans with your fake pity and arrogance.

You don’t know anything more than I do, and at the end of the day I will trust my own judgment and allow myself to be a fan of someone if I want to.

No, they wouldn’t be movie stars if they weren’t pretty.

Being pretty has nothing to with being a good person or not. Sure, they owe alot to the way they look, I am sure they both know that. The difference here is that we like them because they are MORE than pretty, ornamental people….. which is a rarity in Hollywood. They are not relying on their looks to get by in life. Pretty people who are also shallow use their looks to get what they want and never grow or educate themselves, they never develop parts of their personality because in the mind they don’t need to….they are pretty, so, why be smart? B&A are not like that at all, and you know it.

They are trying to actually live a life as close to “normal” as anybody as pretty and famous as them is able, they are trying to be compassionate and open-minded and raise their children in a loving home. Those kinds of things are what any human being, pretty or not, wants out of life.

Someone posted the link to the Playgirl photos to show me that’s where the photo had come from. I’d seen them years ago, but the view is so great that it was a pleasure to see them again!

Anyhoo…let’s not have that link posted here again. Brad had to sue Playgirl to get them to stop publishing those photos, but there were issues already sold so of course it’d been scanned and put on the net ages ago.

I have volunteered at a local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. I doubt if they will allow minor. It’s like going to a new house construction site. You have to sign a waiver.

Most of the foreign country volunteer projects require you to pay for your own transportation and housing. They can give you some suggestions on housing. That’s about all they will provide.

For my local experience, I called the local chapter of HFH co-ordinator who made up the schedule. So I would suggest you call and arrange the time with them. Weekend volunteer slots fill up quickly. There are always weekday opeinings. If you go on weekday, establish your trust, they will work you in for the weekend. Make sure you bring a dust mask and lunch. I have seen some women who had been with them for a few months just so they can learn how to build.

Did you go and help out with Habitat for Humanity? I was just thinking this is something I would like to spend a week or a few days doing. I hadn’t heard of HfH until Brad Pitt (OK, OK, its embarrassing). I went to their website and found that they have been working in South East Asia in areas hit by the tsunami. My questions are”

(a) I have a 5 year old girl I would like to bring with me. Did you see any children also “volunteering”? Would it be OK to bring a little girl there?

(b) I assume we can spend a week or just a day on the site? Is that correct?

(c) who organises accommodation? Do we have to organise our own accommodation and transport to the site?

Hope you pick up this message and give me your first hand experiences.

lylian, I too have volunteered at a HFH, and yes you will be tired at the end of the day.
Children are NOT allowed on the site because of safety issues. However teenagers maybe allowed in certain circumstances. Usually there is an orientation session that you would have to attend prior to going onsite. It really depends on where you’re going. If you’re in the US and going to somewhere in the US I believe that you would have to take care of your own accommodations. If, however, it is a foreign country then they may take care of the accommodations, but, you probably would have to pay for them. If you’re gonna do this then I’m sure you’ll learn what you need to know in the information sessions they have.

Great to see Brad doing & helping build a home on his free time. They build one near where I live here in Canada. And I admire those people who put time & effort to build a home. Way to go Brad & Angie. You really deserve my utmost support & admiration.

I have a question regarding HfH. Do they build houses throughout the year, or just one week a year. I read on their website yesterday that they are going to be in LA next year. I hope they lend BP a hand in his New Orleans project.

They have projects all over the world. In big cities they usually have several projects areas going on. ITA about BP’s New Orleans project. Hopefully he’s earned his ’sweat equity’ and will partner with them to get the Global Green project completed.

I forgot to mention that HFH projects can occur any time during the year. For big projects they can spread it throughout the year. Of course a lot of activities usually occur in the summer just because of the weather and vacation.

One other thing about HFH - You can help them out by looking in your local community for fundraisers, too. There are a couple of churches in my town that have large Garage Sales to raise money for them. Since nobody in this town ever does anything original I’m sure that HFH does this everywhere. These suckers are great because people all over town donate stuff and then they have a big 2-day event to sell it all. I helped a friend collect stuff one year and I know we should all volunteer and all that stuff…but…never again! One man’s junk…to me…is another man’s junk, too!

If Brad did not volunteer for Habitat for humanity, we would not be discussing that organization right now. He didn’t just give his time to this cause, he lent his name. That kind of press is worth millions of dollars in publicty, all over the world. I believe in fate and I think if it must be said that he wouldn’t be in the position he’s in if it wasn’t for his looks, then there’s areason he’s got them. If he had been born to a rich family instead and gave money and time to these causes, would it make him more sincere?

This isn’t about how he came to be where he is, it’s about the personal choices he made to be who he is. To the people who think he’s not doing enough, what have you accomplished today with your negativity? How dare you say he does it for some kind of personal gain? These homes are built one brick at a time, and that is how the world is made a better place, one person at a time. Would he be somehow better if he did nothing at all? You’re a sorry and pathetic human being.

Anon, I can’t believe you. It is CLEAR he was there for a lot of today [or whenever the pictures were taken] and he CLEARLY did a lot of different jobs on the house. Do you think they will take all the work he did out when he leaves? Of course not. In that case, he DID contribute, his contribution is valued by those receiving the gift of his time, and from those tiny shots on Ramey, he had a BALL! Just for your information, Habitat uses FREE labor. It doesn’t matter how many low skilled laborers there are in India or anywhere else. They do not pay. At least they don’t around here. My dad has done some work for them locally. You don’t have to admire him - though why come HERE if you don’t is beyond me - but you must admit that he did what he did for the project, not for any self promotion. He doesn’t NEED any promotion of ANY kind!! HE is BRAD PITT! Geesh!

Thank you a million times to whoever posted the Ramey pix link. Doesn’t he look happy in those pictures? He must look at his former life and just shake his head. I’m so glad he allows these little glimpses into the changes he has made. The man is truly inspiring.

Now, WHEN, WHERE are we meeting to form the take down party? I REALLY need the roof fixed!!

I watched the splash video of Braddy working on this site — man, he has changed so much! His gait has confidence written all over it, he seems so self-assured, like a real man. The haters keep saying that Angie has led him around like a puppy, but watching that video I could see no little puppy but a very self-confident person who knew and liked what he was doing.

I just dont understand why you are so negative. Brad and Angie set a good example to others. Celebrity involvement draws attention to people who would otherwise be invisible.

OK, so Americans sometimes do come across to others as “arrogant”, and in some cases it maybe true. However (as both me and my husband are foreigners living in the US), we see that with that kind of almost childish “arrogance” comes the boldness, optimism for action and the will to go and do beyond norm which older established states aren’t willing to do so. OK, so Brad maybe after his Oscars, but he is a Hollywood thespian hunted 24/7 by tabloids So what do you do? Go “sniffing on Oprah’s couch” as some idle sitcom actresses do, or build some homes for the needy and bring the press with him so HH gets press? Brad gets press anyway. He chooses action over sitting around on the couch.
