Police review reported threat to Jolie, Pitt

PUNE, NOV 3 (PTI)
A media report about a threat to Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt from Al Qaeda, currently in the city for a film shoot, prompted top police officials here to review the security for the couple.

“We have learnt about the threat to Jolie and Pitt and the news that they have been provided Y-category security from the media which quoted the Intelligence Bureau. We have not received any communication in this regard from our headquarters in Mumbai,” a senior police official said.
A meeting was held here to discuss the reported security threat to the celebrity couple, he said.

Jolie is playing the role of the widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in the film “A Mighty Heart”, which is being produced by Pitt’s company.

Media reports in the last couple of days had said that Jolie and Pitt faced a threat to their lives from Al Qaeda for making the film on Pearl, who was abducted by militants in Pakistan and later killed in 2002.

No one knows where Brad went to. Just because a paparazzi in his captions posing the question of going to LA doesn’t mean it’s true. It’s speculation that he’ll be in LA as I don’t think it’s even been confirmed. I’m sure if he’s back home everyone will know by Noon time

Splashnews.com have said before that Brad and Angie are in India and they actually arrived in India after a week.And you all remember the Eastnews.com when Brad and Angie went to the photography exebition and Jon Voight was there too and the caption said that Angie was waiting in the car and Brad entered alone and as soon as JV was gone Angie entered too.Were at the same time there was not even a single picture about any of all this.Just Brad and Angie leaving the exibition and one pic of JV alone.Bullshits!! It is sad how they are drapping their children around. I know, I was also dragged all over the world as a child. It would have been different had we stayed in one place, or had I known the language of the children around me. Better yet not have people with guns walking around.
Children need a stable life especially at Maddox’s age. He should be socializing in a school or playgroup that is of consistence.
Leave the kids home, with a professional and family members during your crusades. Though they are wonderful things you are doing,
they are not that of your children, do not make them live through you, let them be children. The young ones, trust me, will not remember any of the symbolism you are trying to instill. They are just frightened by all the commotion. I lived in Iran as a child and let me tell you, it was not fun, I was scared as a child. Not only that I lost my most important years as developing socially with other children.
You don’t see the Spielberg, Hanks or many other celeb’s displaying their children, they are being raised in private & stable lives.

What threats are you talking about? Have you been informed by Al-Queda or US authorities about threats?

Brad is the type of person who puts his family’s safety as his top priority.

These same people who come here with their polite criticism are the same ones that state rude and vile names against AJ on other blogs. AJ and BP are good parents. They care deeply for their children. This threat is old news recycle by tabloids to make it more sensational. The threat was for Pakistan and that is why the shoot was moved to India. BP is not a runner. He is taken care of business and his family is safe. As one poster stated, instead of over-analyzing the news and debating with haters, the fans of B and A should keep it positive and send out best wishes and safe travel to BAMZS.

The poor dears slave away, looking for things to say, the least we can do is give them this award. I know the town council has to vote on it but don’t worry I am good friends with the mayor, the prosecutor, the High Priestess, the Town crier and the Historian…..hey, not bad, no? Regarding the negative tablid press, intelligent people can see that all of it is made up. There is basically nothing to report about Brad & Angelina do the paps take pictures of them basically walking down the street or helping out an organnization on their own time and it’s turned into a negative spin especailly by snarky tabloid bloggers (unlike Jared). THERE IS NO NEWS. Angelina is filming and Brad is there (or was) as a producer on location for his film as well as to be with his family. All the dummies who claim Angelina & Brad are dragging the children all over the world….um she’s filming a movie in India. the important thing is that the children are together with the both of them almost all the time. THAT is the stability, not the geography. Seeing the same faces day in & day out is what’s important. Brad said something to the effect that they stick to a routine no matter where in the world they were. Bedtime is 8:00 pm whether it’s in LA, NY, Paris, or Pune.

The Al Queda story is fabricated but Angelina has been caught in certain “situations”
as a UNHCR Goddwill Ambassador. Those of you who have read “Notes From My Travel” will know this.

There are many who are far more famous that Brad or Angelina and more powerful than they are. the tabs just take seconds from their lives and try to sell papers and increase their blog hits because they are still riding the “triangle” even though Reece & Ryans is THE marital breakup story. PITT-Y THE FOOL: The tension between Brad Pitt and Vanity Fair after the monthly used photos of him taken by Robert Wilson on its December cover boils down to the A-list star’s frustration at not being able to completely control his image, according to editors at celebrity-focused titles who opined about the situation on Thursday.

Vanity Fair, according to the editors, is still viewed as a magazine celebrities like to work with since they — or their publicists — often can control how much or how little they reveal in interviews and photo shoots. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, for example, chose Vanity Fair to reveal pictures of their daughter, Suri, without the interviewer broaching questions on Scientology or their upcoming marriage in the October issue. But the photo of a wet Pitt wearing only boxers and white socks goes counter to the image he is working hard to promote, as the actor did in a lengthy interview and photo shoot for Esquire’s October issue. “He’s trying to work hard on building his image as a humanitarian and adoptive father, and then this photo of him in his underwear ends up on the cover of Vanity Fair,” said a source.

Most editors say that Pitt really has no reason to moan. News outlets both on and offline regularly run photos of celebrities without their endorsement, in some cases looking much worse than Pitt did on Vanity Fair. “Vanity Fair doesn’t do anything that upsets a publicist — ever,” said a source. “He’s just taken aback that [the magazine] would do something against his endorsement.”

While Pitt’s rep questioned Vanity Fair’s “integrity and motives” of using the unauthorized photo in a statement, Vanity Fair is still a necessity for most celebrities to push their projects, and one that editors say Pitt will most likely not abandon for long. “There are very few outlets left for someone like Brad Pitt to dictate terms, so it’s too important for him to lose. Where else can he go and get that kind of coverage?” said one editor. — Stephanie D. Smith

More than a pretty face: Brad Pitt devoted to his craft

Brad Pitt is ranked 20th in Forbes’ list of powerful celebrities and earns an estimated $20 million a movie.

But he increasingly has gained respect for being more than just a pretty face. To those in the business, his appeal is as obvious as those piercing baby blues.

“He is arguably one of the biggest stars in the world, if not the biggest. Men want to be him, and women want to be with him,” says Jerry Weintraub, who has produced the Ocean’s movie franchise and has been friends with Pitt for years. advertisement

Pitt’s career has never been better. He’s starring in unconventional films that show his grizzled side, such as Babel, which opens next Friday. Through Plan B, he is producing such edgy projects as Running With Scissors and the current box office hit The Departed. He’s also producing A Mighty Heart, starring girlfriend Angelina Jolie, 31, as the widow of murdered reporter Daniel Pearl.

In Babel, Pitt plays a helpless husband who tries to save his wife, who is accidentally shot while on a tense vacation in Morocco. Variety praises Pitt for giving his character “weight and strength,” and the Hollywood Reporter calls his performance committed.

Bring up Pitt’s name to anyone associated with him, and you hear stories of personal thank-you notes, congratulatory e-mails and a level of thoughtfulness unusual in a star of his caliber.

“Brad is not pretentious. There’s nothing artsy-fartsy about him,” says Running With Scissors director Ryan Murphy. “Brad is incredibly enthusiastic. I heard he’d liked the script, and I met him at the (production) offices, and here come these handmade Prada shoes with Brad Pitt attached. He said something to me like, ‘You’ve got wicked skills.’ ”

That unaffectedness, says Simon Kinberg, who wrote the 2005 hit Mr. & Mrs. Smith, “is kind of an amazing thing. It’s not a game or strategy with him.”

In particular, Kinberg remembers one long day of shooting when the exhausted cast and crew had worked into the night and saw no end in sight.

“Brad, out of the blue, started doing jumping jacks, calling out to the crew, getting everyone’s spirits up at 4 a.m. at some awful diner in downtown LA,” Kinberg says. “He was the guy who would cheerlead for the movie, and he didn’t have to. He’s the top, and the energy flows from the top down.”

Pitt doesn’t mind looking less than perfect. In Babel, he goes gray and has bags under his eyes.

This isn’t a star with blockbuster on the brain. Since stealing hearts in 1991’s Thelma & Louise, Pitt has had hits (1995’s serial-killer drama Se7en, last year’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith), but just as many misses (1997’s Seven Years in Tibet, 2004’s Troy). He has earned one Oscar nomination, for his supporting turn in 1995’s Twelve Monkeys.

These days, Pitt mixes it up. He took a pay cut for next year’s The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, but he’s also reprising Rusty Ryan in the third Ocean’s installment, due in June.

Film historian Leonard Maltin applauds Pitt’s willingness to “sacrifice some of his movie-star persona for the sake of a really good part. What we’re seeing is his willingness, if not downright eagerness, to challenge himself with more demanding and daring roles.”

That gets major props from Darren Aronofsky, who was ready to direct Pitt in The Fountain before the actor dropped out because of creative differences.

“Brad’s a great guy, and we’re still friendly. We’re OK with the breakup,” Aronofsky says. “Brad’s a really smart, very talented guy. He’s come to a place in his work where he’s doing interesting stuff. He’s looking great. The pretty-boy thing wasn’t my type of hetero joy. I like the wizened Brad now.”

Others appreciate Pitt’s taste for the unconventional, such as his decision to executive-produce the documentary God Grew Tired of Us: The Story of Lost Boys of Sudan. Writer-director Christopher Quinn had run out of money and says that, without Pitt’s help, the movie likely would not have been made. Quinn, introduced through mutual friends, met Pitt at his home.

The meeting was casual and Pitt was disarming. But, Quinn says, Pitt “has incredible follow-through. When we won (two awards) at Sundance, he sent me a note saying how proud he was to be a part of the movie.”

Madonna does not hate Angelina, I’ll say she has respect for her. She has mentioned her because her name was brought up in a negative way in David’s adoption and what she said was to clear her name. Again she said that she knew what Angie went through when she adopted her kids, she said she knew people said it was a PR move but she knew better. If Madonna is talking about anyone — it’s Oprah ‘I’m gonna build 10 orphanages and BUH-BYE’ Winfrey, or it could be Nicole ‘I’ve got a movie coming out so time for my first UN trip’ Kidman.

And finally, avoid any contact with media recording equipment, meaning loading yourself and your family into the vehicle within a closed garage and tell your S.O. and kids to duck for the duration of the ride. You’re so right about that publicity machine! Ohhhhhh, don’t get me started on M. Anyone can tell you I do not like the woman. Angie does it with heart and soul. On Madge and Angelina, I disagree with Lainey. I don’t see any subtle or not so subtle sneer at A by M in what she said. Just that M is hitting back at reports that she is doing her “charity” only for publicity.

I’m a few years younger then madge and have been aware of her career for a long time. Initially, I thought she was just a publicity Wh***. But over the years, I’ve come the appreciate the skill and dynamism and control in which she runs her professional life. You look at the likes of Britney or Christina or Jessica or the Duff sisters or any of these other sweet young things, How many of them are going to stay relevant at the age of 48? Truth is, Madge’s voice is nice, but not great. She is no Celine Dion or Mariah Carey. She’s maximise herself professionally with smart marketing of her image. She’s done what she has to do in her career and not disintegrated into a whirl of drugs or nervous breakdowns like Courtney Love or that lady who is divorcing Bobby Brown (whose name slips my mind at the moment) . She’s managed to remain married to Guy now for about 7 years, raised 2 apparently happy children.

I think Madge is very aware of the public side of herself and the private side of herself. You have to be to stay sane - as she has done for more then 20 years now. Have you noticed that she hasn’t fixed her teeth and I’m not sure if she has even had plastic surgery on her face?? I think she draws her boundaries - for public consumption, for personal life. She is, I think, a pragmatist and a realist and probably has a very strong sense of self.

So, Madge being the realist that I believe her to be, isn’t going to hate Angelina - a woman she has never met. I think Madge is realistic enough to know that she’s had a pretty long shelf life and inevitably, people younger, and more beautiful. Does she have feelings of envy and jealousy with people like Angelina? - I’m sure. I look at some 20 somethings who seem to have it altogether with an occassional pang of envy - oh to be that young, with the world of possibilities still ahead of me. But that doesn’t mean I want to go through my 20s again - with all my dysfunctions. I certainly have no envy of the Lindsay Lohans of the world. I wouldn’t mind being in my 20’s again with my 40s maturity though:)

The film was preceded by a series of dull speeches and awards, though it was good to see ‘Red Road’ director Andrea Arnold and ‘This Is England’ producer Mark Herbert both receiving honours for their sterling work.

Iñárritu then took to the stage to introduce his film, passionately explaining that ‘Babel’ is the third part in a trilogy (’Amores Perros’ and ‘21 Grams’ being parts one and two) about the complex relationship between parents and children. He also thanked all the English actors who worked on the production and said that the experience of making the films had transformed him as a person.

The film’s star Gael García Bernal then joined him on stage and the pair formed something of a comedy double act, which was very funny but hardly set the tone for what was to follow.

‘Babel’ is the director’s most beautiful, ambitious and heart-wrenching picture yet. Set in Morocco, Mexico and Tokyo, the film brilliantly interweaves four complex stories of mishap, tragedy and misunderstanding to devastating effect.

Brad Pitt gives his best performance in years as an American tourist failing to connect with his wife (Cate Blanchett) while Adriana Bazzara is a revelation as a put upon nanny and Rinko Kikuchi gives a star-making performance as a deaf schoolgirl.

It’s a punishing watch, and one of the story strains seems a little irrelevant at times, but overall ‘Babel’ is a triumphant end to Iñárritu’s remarkable trilogy – bold, courageous filmmaking from a truly significant director.

I gotta agree with Lainey on the Angelina dig by Madonna. I would like that they could be friends as they are both strong women living their lives under their own terms. HOWEVER, Madonna always has been a jealous and petty ***** and has NEVER said anything nice about anyone (that I can remember). I think she resents that her adoption is being questioned and has received such negative press.

But, Angelina’s adoptions have also been questioned and have received bad press BUT she doesn’t feel the need to JUSTIFY it like Madonna.

‘Look, I could have joined the U.N. and become an ambassador and visited various countries and just kind of showed up and smiled and looked concerned. But that’s not getting to the root of the problem-and by the way, neither is building orphan care centers and giving people food and medicine. But it’s a start. I’M SAVING PEOPLE’S LIVES’

That last line says it all….IT’S ALL ABOUT HER EGO AND NOTHING ELSE because the rest of the statement is just too stupid to comment on.

Babel’s truly a magnificent movie!! I can’t just pick one story, all of them were heartbreaking. 5/5 les etoiles
