OlderAngelina Jolie Serves Sikh
UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie has been on a two-day visit to the Indian capital, listening to Sikh children playing religious music at the Khalsa Diwan Welfare Society in New Delhi, an organization run by Afghan refugees of the Sikh faith for other refugees. She chatted with students - some of the 9,500 Afghan refugees under the direct care of the UN refugee agency in India — about their passion for learning English and computer skills.
Angelina also made time to talk with a refugee woman from Myanmar in the one-room home she shares with her three children in New Delhi. The woman, one of the 1,750 refugees from Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) under the care of UNHCR in India, told Jolie that they had fled after her husband was arrested by Burma’s military government.

NEW DELHI: Giving papparazi the slip, Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie on Saturday spent some time with Sikh Afghan and Myanmarese refugees in the capital.
Accompanied by her five-year-old son Maddox, Jolie arrived in the capital just past noon and drove to the refugee camps run by the Khalsa Diwan Welfare Society and UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Clad in a white T-shirt and blue jeans, Jolie, the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and her son listened to Sikh children playing religious music at the Welfare Society run by Afghan refugees of the Sikh faith.
She chatted with the students among some 9,500 Afghan Sikh refugees under the direct care of UNHCR and was appreciative of their passion for learning English and computer skills.
The Hollywood star, in India for shooting a film ‘A Mighty Heart’ on the life of slain Wall Street Journal correspondent Daniel Pearl, also visited a woman refugee from Myanmar in her one-room home where she lives with her three children.
The woman, one of the 1,750 refugees from Myanmar, told Jolie that they fled after her husband was arrested by the military government in Myanmar, a press statement issued by UNHCR said.
“I am grateful to the refugee families who spent time with me today and shared their stories. They are remarkable, courageous people, it quoted Jolie as saying.
Jolie, on a two-day visit here, will be meeting Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma on Sunday.
Jolie will be accompanied by UN officials at the meeting with Sharma and the discussions are expected to centre around issues relating to refugees and children.

Excuse me, but I never saw any interview with AJ discussing her mother’s illness; if you can dig up an interview about it, I’d like to see it and please be sure to include the date the interview took place. The first time I heard of it was summer 2005, when haters deemed it as karma for AJ’s alleged bad behavior. Tabloids are the mags that focus on it; they brought it up anytime she travels-even devising the theory that Baby Jolie-Pitt would be born in France as a Lion King’s Circle of Life story bullshit. The ‘Upset Angie in the SUV’ thread on this board, again was drawn from conclusion.
No one knows the real state of Marcheline’s health, and quite frankly it’s none of our business. And it is quite possible that if Marcheline’s condition is as grave as haters hope it is, that Marcheline and Angelina have an agreement between the two of them. It’s been known to happen, you know, that gravely ill/dying people don’t want certain people to be present-most of the time it’s out of anger, sometimes out of love. Some people cannot die if someone they love is present because they are too concerned about how witnessing it would affect the survivor.

ITA!! Perez Hilton was the first place I saw AJ’s baby bump pics, back in Nov. 2005. And he did say that, despite being gay, he would stick his d!ck in her, which is sort of a compliment. The only negative thread I saw was in the aftermath of Mickey’s attack on the journalist, but maybe that was based on his past encounters with other celebs; I’m sure there are those, besides Tara Reid and Shannon Elizabeth that want to *****-slap him.
Depending on the writers, D-Listed can be anti-Angie; Pink is the New Blog and Defamer are snarky, in general– those are the only sites I visit on a sporadic basis.

Yes, i think its the same outfit. Same with Brad, he has been wearing the same white shirt he wore when he left Pune for how many days now. I bet they have a contest on who will survie with the least number of clothes in India. Since they live in a hotel, im sure their routine is like wear it now, and have it washed or drycleaned and wear it again. I wonder how many underwear does she have though? LOL.

People Magazine had an article that stated her mother is not on her death bed.
By the way Marcheline is born and bred in Chicago. Her father was French via the Canadian route
Yes, Brad said in one of his interviews how he liked to keep things like that to a minimum when he travels, another thing he learned from Angelina. He noticed that when she went to foreign countries she had learned to travel light because that’s less you’d have to lug around in the the desert or other remote places. He said he liked the idea. Besides don’t you think they have enough to pack with 3 kids? lol

NEW DELHI (AFP) - Hollywood star Angelina Jolie met India’s junior foreign minister to discuss how Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violence campaign for independence could be applied to the 21st century.
Dressed in a black chiffon dress with a floral Kashmiri shawl draped loosely around her shoulders, Jolie drove to the former palace of a Muslim prince that now serves as a state guest house to meet Anand Sharma, a keen cinema buff, witnesses said on Sunday.
Jolie, in India to film a movie about the slaying of Wall Street Journal correspondent Daniel Pearl by Islamic militants in Karachi in 2002, is active in charity work and is a special representative on refugees for the United Nations Children’s Fund.
A scheduled half-hour meeting extended to 85 minutes as Sharma and Jolie also spoke about the status of refugees in India, home to millions from at least four neighbouring Asian countries.
“We discussed the Indian tradition and Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of peace and non-violence, which continue to be very much relevant even today,” Sharma said after meeting Jolie, the gun-toting star of the Hollywood action film “Tomb Raider”.
Gandhi, the father of India, led a non-violent campaign against British colonial rule that led to independence in 1947.
Sharma was “clearly enamoured by (Jolie’s) clear vision on the burning issue of international refugees,” an aide who did not wish to be named told AFP.
Jolie said India, with a population of 1.1 billion and almost 300 million who live on less than a dollar a day, has gone out of its way to offer sanctuary to refugees.
“It is very rare and commendable that you have many problems of your own and yet India is so gracious and open to so many refugees,” she told reporters.
“We agreed to work together for the welfare of refugees around the world. It is an honour for me to work for children who have become orphans… there are many, many needs for your own people,” the 31-year-old actress added.
Millions of Bangladeshis live as illegal aliens in India. The country is also home to political dissidents from Myanmar and people fleeing bloody conflicts in Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
Some 400,000 Hindus left homeless by a long Islamist separatist drive in Muslim-majority Kashmir have also shifted to other parts of the country, while Maoist insurgency in four states has forced thousands into refugee camps.
Jolie, who has been provided a tight security cover by the Indian government, plays Pearl’s widow Mariane in the film version of her book, “A Mighty Heart”, while Dan Futterman plays Pearl.

Corrections. One reason I always liked them separate and now together is due to neither being slaves to fashion. The never did get spiffy and shined up unless it was duty calling. Ever. Brad did more when he and the ex wife were playing out the Golden Dupe, but never Angie. She always hsa been a jean’s, tee and motorcycle boots woman thanks God.

hey, i just saw Angelina on CTV (a news network in Canada) talking about her meeting with the NDehli officials. The headline was “Hollywood Humanitarian”.

Looking at the picture I think Angelina has found her life’s purpose. She looks way prettier here than on red carpets. I think true beauty comes through when you find what you are here for and she is glowing. Much respect Angelina. Do your thing.

Hello BAMZS people! It’s my first time to post but I’m a lurker I think when I learned that Ange was pregnant and that JJ’s thread was mentioned on ET so I got really curious to check it out. But now, I really feel like joining the conversation. I just can’t help but admire Angelina for doing humanitarian works and even Brad. I sooo love them and respect them both. Never mind the haters, they can eat their hearts out for all the world care. Thank you for always protecting our beloved couple and though I may not be aas regular poster like most of you here coz I don’t have the previlege you have but I’ll be here supporting Angelina and Brad.
