Angelina Jolie Serves Sikh

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie has been on a two-day visit to the Indian capital, listening to Sikh children playing religious music at the Khalsa Diwan Welfare Society in New Delhi, an organization run by Afghan refugees of the Sikh faith for other refugees. She chatted with students - some of the 9,500 Afghan refugees under the direct care of the UN refugee agency in India — about their passion for learning English and computer skills.

Angelina also made time to talk with a refugee woman from Myanmar in the one-room home she shares with her three children in New Delhi. The woman, one of the 1,750 refugees from Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) under the care of UNHCR in India, told Jolie that they had fled after her husband was arrested by Burma’s military government.

Angelina Jolie for UNHCR

NEW DELHI: Giving papparazi the slip, Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie on Saturday spent some time with Sikh Afghan and Myanmarese refugees in the capital.

Accompanied by her five-year-old son Maddox, Jolie arrived in the capital just past noon and drove to the refugee camps run by the Khalsa Diwan Welfare Society and UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Clad in a white T-shirt and blue jeans, Jolie, the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and her son listened to Sikh children playing religious music at the Welfare Society run by Afghan refugees of the Sikh faith.

She chatted with the students among some 9,500 Afghan Sikh refugees under the direct care of UNHCR and was appreciative of their passion for learning English and computer skills.

The Hollywood star, in India for shooting a film ‘A Mighty Heart’ on the life of slain Wall Street Journal correspondent Daniel Pearl, also visited a woman refugee from Myanmar in her one-room home where she lives with her three children.

The woman, one of the 1,750 refugees from Myanmar, told Jolie that they fled after her husband was arrested by the military government in Myanmar, a press statement issued by UNHCR said.

“I am grateful to the refugee families who spent time with me today and shared their stories. They are remarkable, courageous people, it quoted Jolie as saying.

Jolie, on a two-day visit here, will be meeting Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma on Sunday.

Jolie will be accompanied by UN officials at the meeting with Sharma and the discussions are expected to centre around issues relating to refugees and children.

Hello BAMZERS!!! - thanks JJ for this new thread!!!

guli’s a chemist> yawn - why do I get the feeling this is Ritzygal.

saw her at Bradforum.net requesting stuff that I am sure she is going to use here to post her in such a passive agressive manner a la her idol.

Beside, the REAL GULI has funny smilies which makes her so much sincere and nice. Certainly not zzzz as the above poster.

Guli is that your first stalker ^^

AJ & BP are the most powerful, wonderful, beautiful celebrities I have seen. I admire them deeply for what they do together as a family and for the world. God bless them and protect them always.

thanks for the pictures.

If there is one thing that we can all agree on is that Maddox is seeing a heck of alot of things at such a young age. More so that most kids here at that age and certainly more than he would were he a member of the daycare center society. Might as well enoy it while he can.

Here is hoping the same is experienced by Zahara and Shiloh in 2-3 yrs. Sleep is ok for now.

Anyways, where is waldo?

guli’s a chemist? yawn—-Do you have kids? Doubtful.

I see the loosers can’t attack her UN work, so now they are attacking her feet…

Thank you Jared and Audrey for the new thread and pictures! I love how Angie could still have time to do her UN work too. She and Brad are really being efficent. Great family!!!

I can say why she is just wearing jeans, barefoot and no pedicure. sometimes you have to put your self n other peoples shoes and do you think refugees will be happy seeing your feet so good and theirs are not?! I dont think so… Angie doesnt care what she looks like when going to refugee camps she doenst even put make-up. Thats what i liked about her so much. God bless! :)

just checkin’ out the site. angelina is way hot but why is she barefoot, dude?

Man you really don’t know other cultures do you? Some cultures like mine when you enter my house you don’t wear your shoes. It’s a sign of disrespect if you wear your shoes all over my house. For a house of one room, that is also the place where they eat, sleep, pray, where their children do homework, play etc. I have lived in a one room house before and anyone who came and didn’t take their shoes off, we never invited them again!!!

Just respecting Hindu customs …. I guess.

I would be intimidated to talk to someone who is beautiful, well groomed, dresses well and rich because I don’t feel they would relate to my situation. So if she were to visit refugees with full makeup on, manicures done and in a Gucci dress, I don’t think she could get anything done. I love how she can forget about all of the Hollywood stuff and do it is so admirable to me. I love her for that. I can’t see anyone else in Hollywood doing that.

guli’s a chemist? yawn = ritzygal

Hello All, thanks Jared for the new thread and the pics of Angie, she looks great, and is so dedicated to her UN work and what she believes it.

BTW: I just got back for watching Babel, and let me say that it was FANTASTIC, I love every part of it, there was sadness, happiness, it was so emotional and I cried. Brad was INCREDIBLE as Richard, it is the best I ever seen him in a movie, he played the part of Richard to perfection, I am telling you guys that man need to be nominated for an OSCAR and he needs to win it; and Cate was GREAT. You guys better go and see Babel, it is worth the money. Babel is the best movie I have seen in a long long time. Everybody in Babel was wonderful, they all need a fantastic job. I am going to see it again

“Me Again” if you’re here, thanks for commenting on my fic! For those who missed in the last thread, I’ve added chapter 2 to my Jon and Angie fanfic.

How was the crowd in your theater? What was their reaction? Is it full?

What’s this? More false accusations? And I got here just in time, too. Sorry, kids, i’m not ‘yawn’ although I am very sleepy. Excuse me while I yawn….

Ok. This site has not loaded for me since this morning so, no tis not I who has riled you all up today. I haven’t been here.

However, having said that, I can see how you would think it’s me because it definitely sounds like something I would say. And not only that, I agree with Yawn. She does leave Z behind an awful lot and Shi even more. But, hey, whatever works.

OFF TOPIC: I’m half watching Singin in the Rain right now. I never understood why people think it’s the best Gene Kelly movie. An American in Paris is SOOO much better.

I’d be curious to know what your opinion is of this incredibly important topic is: An American in Paris or Singin in the Rain?

thanks Alexanderina for your review. … :)
I can’t wait to see it, one more week..
I’m so glad you liked it. sounds so compelling, crossing fingers for oscar time!
Yay, so excited.

It just shows how much there FANS adore them. Most important you “know who you are” keep me up to date with this mountain moving couple!

D on the West - stop lurking and keep posting

Oops correction to my Post on Babel, I meant : “that they all did a fantastic job” not “need”

the crowd were very into Babel, it was very quiet in the theater, everybody were so into the movie, we did not want to miss anything, the theater was not full, but there were alot of people and the reaction after the movie were loud clapping and appreciation for a movie that was done beautifully and can teach us so much.
