Brad Pitt Rocks the Vote
Brad Pitt was spotted campaigning for Proposition 87, which would tax domestic oil production in California, raising $4 billion to fund alternative energy research. Brad, 42, was joined by Maria Elena Durazo, Executive Secretary, Treasurer Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO at a news conference earlier tonight at the County Federation of Labor headquarter in Los Angeles. Observer2, where did I say that they couldn’t have an opinion about politics? I just hate that they use their fame to stump for their own agendas. Most of them are as dumb as a box of rocks, so why would I listen to them. Heaven forbid I like to make up my own mind on matters.
And to the others that say it won’t raise gas prices, independent experts say that it will indeed raise them.

I hate to burst your bubble, Shar, But hon, Fame is why canidates get movies stars, Pro ball players, to endorse them, and campiagn for them, because people like them, and respect them. Canidates are not going to ask me or you, who NO ONE knows to endorse(sp) them, when they can get Matt Damon, Ben Afflect or God forbide Brad Pitt to speak out for them, See this is why People like Emmit Smith does commercials to promote products and not me or you, the public knows him, and like him for his celebrity, Are you getting it, or shall we just start with the ABC’s
Amaya thanks !!!!

No Sharon, in this case, you appear to be dumb as a box of rocks. It’s clearly stated that it would be illegal for oil companies to raise gas prices to pass along the cost to the public. And if they do, they will be breaking the law. By the way, are any of these “independent experts” paid by the oil companies that are pushing people to vote NO on Proposition 87?
So what you are saying is that you refuse to listen to a celebrity’s opinion simply because they are celebrities, but you’ll listen to the oil companies that are manipulating into people thinking this Proposition would be bad for them. You do realize that they are also pushing their own Agenda, don’t you?
No one is “forbidding” you to make up your own mind, but that rule should apply to everyone equally. Why can’t these celebrities make up their own mind and try to support legislation that they believe in. Don’t normal people support their choice of candidates and donate money and volunteer for them. Don’t they spread the word about the candidate they are voting for to others. And if a celebrity does the same, it’s suddenly called “puhing their own agenda”.

Now why do say they are dumb? Is it because they’re actors? I thought that way of thinking was in the past….when people thought being an actor didn’t require any intellectual capability. Look at it this way…just as best selling writers tell their stories in words, Actors tell their with their bodies, facial expressions and mannerism…it takes a great deal to be able to do that.
I’d really love to know what kind of agenda you think BP or any other celeb might have in this particular case.

you don’t know what a food movie is? GET THEE TO A VIDEO STORE! a food movie is a film where the meal is like a character in the story. please get a pen and paper and write the following down:
babette’s feast
eat drink man woman
big night
tampopo
like water for chocolate
the scent of green papaya
a feast at midnight
chocolat
tortilla soup (remake of eat drink, but cute)
dinner rush (if you like a little violent with your dinner)
that’s the short list. i didn’t want to overwhelm you. whatever you do, watch babette’s feast first. hope you like subtitles!
I love how talking about Brad Pitt can lead to a discussion about Proposition 87. This family always brings up the bigger issues in one way or another. Whether it may be Africa, adoption, refugees in India, how donations and charities work, not to mention georgraphy. Come on…who knew where Namibia was before two years ago? Brad accomplished what he set out to do by appearing at this press conference. He got people discussing the issues. Debate on.

Good stuff. I bet my last dollar that the same people who take issue with celeb’s being politcal probably voted for, and/or agreed with both Reagan, Schartz????er.

The media is so fickle and transparent. Brad And Angelina have been doing charity work for years,Angelina before him, but after the break up of the “golden couple” they were all there with their dirty rumors and snide remarks. Now that He’s hot property with an Oscar buzz, they’re giving him checks at a premier, and calling Angelina his wife?
As transparent as it is though at least B&A are getting the respect the derserve, in front of millions of people-the kind of sheep that were brainwashed into thinking the worst. The table has turned BIG TIME. Maybe now Huvane will see how futile his campain has been. he and his “client” can crawl under a rock like the snakes they are.

Lol….I am reading my way up and i had to stop…your post made me laugh. Yes, i agree the media is SUCKING UP big time…but hey, let’s enjoy it while it lasts. I also agree with FAN, we should write to extra, not just because they were nice to BP and AJ but for funding those two causes (who says celebrities aren’t useful for causes?) and for sticking to Huvane (Who says there is no justice in the world?)

Ok, I have babettes feast, Eat Drink man woman, like water for chocolate (loved it) and Chocolate, very good too. I have to check out the rest, Thanks.
Hey Kiki Girl! Brad, George, Johnny. My goodness, girl…………you’ve just named the top three on my list.
African Girl, I agree with Fan too. we should encourage this kind of behaviour just as adamently as we denounce panderers. Remember the flurry of e-mails to Oprah after a certain someone’s visit to her show. It will show that we support Brad and Angelina Jolie-Pitt. And that we appreciate those who show them in a favorable light. Brad and Angelina have done the footwork, we only have to follow up.
And don’t think for a minute that X wasn’t screaming at the ocean the two days he made his appearance in his triumphant return. This is only a prelude to Oscar night!
You ARE indeed a true friend…just so you know… Can you picture it now….me in a nice off shoulder gown (not some boring skirt suit like Hilary Clinton and Laura Bush wore), walking majestically down the stairs, doing my beauty queen wave….a twinkle in my eye as the crowd screams my name….well not mine, GC’s. Oh what a glorious day that would be and rest assured, I won’t forget all my friends. You guys can come visit once every four years ( What did you think….that we’ll be having sleepovers every night, sleeping on the same bed and howling at the moon during a goddess circle? Hellooooo we ARE women not teenagers
============================================
Every four years? What’s up with that? I mean, come on, we voted for him, the least you can do is give us some pirks here. Let’s not get all M on us now, OK? YUCK, why did I have to bring that woman’s name up — it’s that beer I had for lunch, I’m telling ya!
What a beautiful man.
BTW - I saw that Maniston freak show at LAX. What a joke!!!! Such a complete waste of police service. This just validates what a complete loser she is!!!!!!

I feel in love with Johnny Depp after watching Gilber Grape, I have two really cool T-shirts with him on it One is him as Edward Scissors hands, the other one as from Pirates..
I don’t want it to seem like I’m jumping on the bandwagon, but I am. Was it Extra that gave them the checks? Over here they have Extra and Acess Hollywood one after another and the two interviews were almost identicle. What’s their e-mail?
Maria and lookwhaticando, Brad, George and Johnny are the most charismatic and talented actors of their generation. This triumvirate rules Hollywood! I purportedly omitted TC, never liked him, and now he is put into his proper place lol.

Me Again– ITA and that is why I love this family. Honestly until JP hooked up together I NEVER paid attention to”stars” in Hwood. But this couple intrigued me for their humanitarian work, the way they deal with negative press by ignoring them (I wish I could tune them off w/o my blood pressure rising) and how much they love their kids and ALL kids around the world. They are quite remarkable, IMHO….
========================================
Guli: Spot on!! I never had a real favourite actress in the ‘new’ wave of movie stars, but after seeing Gia.
Hello to All!
Hey Observer2, I know a lot of people spoke on your post but I had to include my own as I am just now reading…
1. Considering that Brad was just 2 credits shy of getting his degree, I would say that your opinion of him academically is a little off…
2. As with most educated people that mature you begin to become a little more involved in a lot of social issues as you realize their importance and understand that your endorsement of anything publically is also a representation of yourself…my point…Brad has matured immensely in recent years…
3. Let’s give it to the man for not being full of himself when talking about social issues…here’s a qoute from him…”You shouldn’t speak until you know what you’re talking about. That’s why I get uncomfortable with interviews. Reporters ask me what I feel China should do about Tibet. Who cares what I think China should do? I’m a f—ing actor! They hand me a script. I act. I’m here for entertainment. Basically, when you whittle everything away, I’m a grown man who puts on makeup.” - Time, October 13, 1997 Brad Pitt
I hope I got everything out okay…I was trying to type fast so that I could play catch-up…
