Pune, November 9: THE hype surrounding the arrival of Brangelina in the city and the buzz created by the paparazzi for the first legitimate shot of the couple apart, there was nothing remarkable about the one month or so they spent in the city. Neither did the star couple make any effort to cosy up to the city-dwellers, keeping to themselves and ensuring that their movement remained shrouded in mystery. Thus, when the unit of A Mighty Heart says ‘‘pack up’’ tomorrow, there won’t be too many Puneites who would feel inclined to bid adieu with a heavy heart.

The shooting at Sindh Society wraps up on Friday night and on Saturday, Pitt and Jolie along with their three children will be checking out of Hotel Le Meridien. ‘‘We have been told that they will check out most probably on Saturday or at the most extend by a day or two,’’ said a source.

This will also bring to an end a period of intense media activity in the city, that was inundated with national and international paparazzi ever since the celebrated couple slipped into the city on October 5 and went onto playing hide and seek with reporters, photographers and citizens.

While their shooting schedule in the Sindh society was dogged with controversies, now that the unit is all ready to leave, there is a mixed reaction amongst the members. ‘‘It was good to have so much excitement happening in our otherwise quiet locality,” said one of the residents. A member of the managing committee was quite glad to see them go. “The security risk wasn’t worth it. There were too many complaints from the residents too,’’ he said.

One man who was definitely sorry to see them go was Jaswinder Narang, general manager, Le Meridien. ‘‘It’s going to be sad saying goodbye to them. They got us so much publicity!’’ he said.

While Pitt and Jolie gave the Pune media a wide miss, they are expected to hold a press conference in Mumbai any day after November 10, before they finally leave the country.

Horsing around
Taking time off the shooting, Brad Pitt played the dutiful father last week when he took Maddox and Zahara to the Japalouppe horse farm in Talegaon, on the outskirts of Pune. ‘‘On October 25 we got a call from `Holly` asking if the kids could come over. As a residential camp was on with 35 kids on the premises, we couldn’t give them exclusive space, but they were okay with it,’’ said Lorraine More, owner of the farm.

They drove in after the security guards checked out the place and ensured that their request of ‘‘ no press people, no crowds, no photographs and no telling anyone’’ had been adhered to. ‘‘ Maddox was thrilled to ride the pony and in half an hour was trotting the pony on his own. I called out to Brad, who was playing with Zahara at the time and he looked so proud - he gave Maddox the thumbs up and called him a champ. Brad was so genuinely happy to see his kids having a good time, he kept clicking pictures,’’ More said.

Shut Up: Here’s one for you. There’s this guy in my office who thinks he just ‘Mr. Gorgeous’. He goes around trying to be all smooth and chats up all the girls. Now, he does have beautiful green eyes (Maria’s favourite), but when you opens up his mouth to smile, he’s got several teeth missing on the side. Wellllllllllllll, one day, he’s got my goat, as I’ve tons to do and he’s just telling the girls, “Yeah, you know you think I’m hot”. As he’s leaving his desk, he has to pass mine. He stops and says, “Maria, you think I’m hot, right?”. This he says with a huge laugh and all his teeth showing. Now…………………here it comes………………Maria was not up for this…………………..I say, “Not with all them teeth missing on the side of your mouth”. He turns bright red and walks away without a word coming out of his mouth. To this day, the guy has not said anything about how gorgeous he is in front of me. I mean, come on, SEE A DENTIST!!!
