Brad Hides Behind a Hanky
Brad Pitt put on his motorbike helmet (and photographer hat) and rode into town yesterday afternoon. He took in as much of Pune as possible, snapping pictures every chance he got with his trusty sidekick, the Leica R8 camera.
Brad’s handkerchief looks like it’s for protection against wind and pollution… unlike some other pop stars we know that hang babies off hotel balconies. Nice helmet though, eh? More pictures in the gallery!
Note to Brad: Please stop smoking!

It cannot be easy being Brad Pitt. Laugh if you will, but I believe that to be true.
Sure, he is one half of, “the most beautiful couple in the world”, a new father, a noted philanthropist and a multi-millionaire, but for those things he has paid a significant price - his privacy. Everybody wants a piece of Brad Pitt.
I recently had an opportunity to catch a glimpse into the media spectacle surrounding Brad Pitt when I attended the North American premiere for his latest film, Babel, at the Toronto Film Festival. Afterward, I sat down with him while he talked about babies, Babel and being Brad Pitt.
The Toronto Film Festival has become two weeks in September when the entire city is abuzz with media outlets and celebrity watchers. This year, however, was different. There seemed to be a surreal glow as people watched, waited and hoped for a glimpse of the most famous face in the world.
Everywhere Brad Pitt went, a sea of people was sure to follow. People ambled through the lobby of the Park Hyatt hotel, where he was rumoured to be staying with Angela Jolie and their children. At his film’s premiere, hundreds of people stood on a narrow sidewalk hoping to catch a glimpse of him. The film - a subtitled “indie” film which would normally appeal only to film afficionados - showed to a full house.
It is difficult to describe the experience of meeting Brad Pitt. A man after my own heart, he arrived at our press interviews clearly demonstrating the signs of someone who is not a morning person. Unshaven, hair slightly disheveled, collar unbuttoned and tie loose around his neck, he was as gorgeous in person as he had been in any photograph that I had ever seen of him.
But the most memorable aspect of meeting Brad Pitt was not his looks. What I will never forget is the indescribable aura that surrounded him. Relaxed, affable and articulate, he was one of the most magnetic, charismatic people I have ever met. He was remarkably at ease and seemed almost amused at the sight of journalists and photographers pummeling one another to get to him.
As the sound of camera shutters reached a deafening pitch, and the photographers were admonished by press conference moderator Henri Behar, Pitt began to play for the cameras, making faces and waving his hands in the air.
“That’s the photo that is going to end up [in the press] when I have a breakdown”, he said, “They’re going to take that photo from this moment…when I get arrested for a DUI late at night and make racial slurs or something.”
When asked about his “icon” status, he seemed incredulous. “I don’t participate much in that, other thing”, he said, gesturing to the gathering crowd outside the press room.
A willing participant or not, Pitt cannot help but be affected by the, “other thing”. The remote location in Morocco where his scenes in Babel were filmed was a blessing, because it gave him a reprieve from the media that he would not be permitted in more accessible locations.
Director Alejandro Inarritu acknowledged the benefits of the remote location. “This town where we shot, it is a town that didn’t have electricity. It’s a town where Brad could walk easily without being recognized. Some people didn’t know who he was and that was great because we were really surrounded by that atmosphere of…people who were there for no reason other than helping the film.”
“I think that was a really kind of relaxing atmosphere. I felt that Brad was really completely submerged”, he added.
Pitt agreed with Inarritu’s assessment. “It was freeing in that sense where you could really just concentrate on the work.”
The result is a film that many say will garner Brad Pitt his second Oscar nomination. In speaking about the film, it is clear that he is proud of the final product.
“This one I’ll be proud for [my children] to see once they’re old enough to really understand it.”
As the press interviews ended and we prepared to leave, it occurred to me then that it cannot be easy to be Brad Pitt. I caught a glimpse of him as he was leaving the press room, accompanied by escorts who were taking him to his waiting vehicle outside. It was then that I saw it - a deep breath, a fleeting moment of panic as he readied himself to descend into the crowd outside.
Sure, it must be wonderful to have it all. But I wondered as I left whether there are days that he would not trade it all for a moment of peace and quiet.
Babel opened in limited release October 27th. The movie expands to 1,251 theaters this weekend.

Reading the article makes me feel a little guilty that I’m complicit to the demand for photos of Brad, Angelina, and the kids. it’s crazy and I’m part of the craze.

AG, our mutual friend asked for me to drop a note to assure I’m okay. I’m in good spirits, and I have even been a bad, bad girl in having a bit of wicked fun. Shhh! Of course, this week has been berry, berry (to steal a line from Garrett Morris’ character of old from SNL) good to me. The Democrats took over Congress. Hell YEAH! Now, some Democrats are more Republican than Republicans themselves (hello, Hillary and Lieberman), so it’s not perfect. And a few good Republicans such as Lincoln Chaffe were unfortunate losers, but I’ll take my chances with the Democrats (even though I doubt they will have an effective plan of action for Iraq). At least we won’t have redux Senate confirmations of Clarence Thomas (Scalia’s yes-man) and Sam Alito as Supreme Court Justices with the Democrats holding power. Anyway, I didn’t come to talk politics.
I am very sorry for the delay in my farewell. I have lost steam, but I still very much want to finish it for my friends. Please be patient and hang tight. I think a few of you will like what I plan to leave behind (NO, not gossip!) so that it won’t be the last you’ll see of me. (Well, here, yes, I am still intent on leaving.) I’m not going to promise anymore when it will be posted as I’m as accurate with that schedule as Aniston’s next film projection. (Did I mention I still find Aniston revolting?) But I’m hoping I won’t have to also wish you all a merry Christmas…or worst a new year!! Gosh, with the changes on this board though, I’m antsy about what will show up when it gets posted. Yeesh, a message full of asterisks…I don’t know about that. How is PT dealing with that?! Hamstrung with our “colorful” language, I’m getting nervous at the limitations and worst, if this board can handle the super length of the farewells. We’ll see.
In the meantime, I do think of you guys often and wish all of you well - even some of the hating nags.
Can’t say I like seeing Brad still smoking, but I hope he’s cut down a lot and hopefully be able to quit finally. Even if it takes 100 or more attempts, he needs to keep trying.

I saw the video of ell you posted earlier and I thought they were referring to you as MF when I saw the comment section. I was wrong,,, it was..er… different sort of MF they were talking about lol. I’m just lurking for the moment since I’m still reading YG email halfway thru, 500+ emails to go whew! But I’m enjoying the comments here at JJ, I know its not “fuzz-free” as of this moment but most good things are not perfect, we need a little challenge now and again to spice things up. Adversity do bring out the best and the worst in us. It’s a test of your true character what you reveal in times of difficulty. “People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there’s a light from within”. This is why I have much more affinity towards Angelina, she has been through the “darkness” but she emerged from it a far better woman, a far better human being. What little reservation I have for Brad Pitt however has been put to rest with the way he continually proves to be much more of a “man” than I thought he is at first.
Angelah, I have been unable to reply back in the email I’m still neck high in the pile of unread emails. As I told Estelle earlier, at the rate I’m going Angelina could be pregnant and deliver us another jolie-pitt baby to feast our eyes on before I finished reading emails. I have a lot of things to catch up on obviously, missed the madonna, donald trump, oprah incident but it’s better late than pregnant lol. PUNE: Around 65 children at Bharatiya Samaj Seva Kendra (BSSK) family and child welfare and adoption centre had glamorous visitors on Friday — Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
The couple, proponents of adoption themselves, visited Koregaon Park centre, where they spent about an hour with the children and donated loads of toys to the excited kids.
The duo has been in the city for over a month now, shooting for A Mighty Heart, a film based on slain American journalist Daniel Pearl. They have three children — Maddox and Zahara, who are adopted, and a biological child Shiloh Nouvel.
Roxana Kalyanvala, executive director at BSSK, said: “The couple were lovely and genuinely adore kids. They spent over an hour playing with our children and donated lots of toys. They didn’t show any inclination towards wanting to adopt, but they did have a great time. Both have a love for children and they spoke to us for quite a while about various issues in the world. They would have loved to stay on longer but had other commitments.”
BSSK cares for around 65 children from new-borns up to six years of age. They undertake over 80% domestic adoption and have found homes for close to 2,800 children. The centre has Children’s day celebration, a ‘Masti Mela’ which is open to the public from 4 to 7 pm on November 14 and 15.
Pitt and Jolie are expected to leave for Mumbai over the weekend, where they will complete the last leg of shooting for the film which stars Jolie as Marianne, the wife of Daniel Pearl.

1) Why start doing it now and all along?
2) Why so near Brad’s face and not somewhere else [upper left corner or bottom middle] in the pics?

I’ve often wondered how many of the haters keep saying that he’s no longer hot, that he’s got guilty feelings about his “affair”, that he wants to go back to the X — what pictures are they looking at? And hasn’t his actions re flying to LA for the premiere and voting, and then flying right back to India (a very considerable distance, of course, even if he flew first class or private jet) convinced them yet that Brad and Angie are truly together for good?

Brad just LOVES photography! And if they are leaving this upcoming weekend I bet he want to snap as many shots as he can. I remember being on simplybrad.com some time ago and they had a thread with Brad’s pictures while he was taking photographs in the past years! You can’t imagine how many they are!! I didn’t know that it was one of his hobbies. I was shocked! (But the world wasn’t) LOL! He is obsessed with photography as he is with motorcycles. Let’s say “he just has a problem” :)
As for the smocking part. Well it seems that he is making great efforts to quit or at least increase it. From the beginning of this year we have seen him smoking only three or four times. And that’s good. He is a long time smoker and it’s so hard to quit. My father wants to quit it badly but he hasn’t achieved anything. At least we haven’t seen him smoking around the kids. Only when he is alone. And I think Angie is be fine with it as long as it’s not around them. Anyway…

Today USA Today published the results of a poll the daily conducted about which expecting couple is generating more buzz. Brad and Angelina or Tom and Katie…
The paper contacted some of the most influential gossip slingers around and overall they thought the public was more interested in Brad and Ange, but not by much. Seven panelist, Dan Wakeford, Debra Birnbaum, Harvey Levin, Bonnie Fuller, Ted Casablanca, Trent Vanega, and Access Hollywood’s Ryan Patterson, ranked nine different categories on a scale of 1-10 and the Pitt-Jolie’s scored a 9.7 while the Cruise-Holmes’s scored a 9.1.
The first topic the panel tackled was the “Love Factor” between the couples. This might have been where Tom and Katie lost some points because as Birnbaum points out, “There’s been so much speculation about what’s really going on with their relationship,” plus nobody even knows how these two actually met. But as far as Brad and Angelina the editor in chief of Life & Style says, “Their intriguing love story is straight out of a movie, played out across three continents at last count.”
Next Levin and Casablanca discussed the perceived reality about the two relationships. This topic gives Tom and Katie the more fascinating edge. Levin feels that Brad and Angelina are “more sweet and real” where as Tom and Katie’s “off-camera life is more like a movie than Brad and Angelina,” Casablanca, E! columnist and correspondent says, they are “like a science-fiction Spielberg film. It’s better box office.” But with regard to martial status, executive editor at In Touch, Dan Wakeford thought about Brad and Ange is “the only (celebrity event) that could rival the excitement surrounding the baby and its birth is Angelina and Brad’s wedding.” But this might be an evening topic because Wakeford feels that “that people are intrigued” with Tom and Katie’s possible summer wedding because “it’s been such a whirlwind romance, punctuated with Tom’s unusual behavior.”
Now the topic discussed was what the babies will be named and places they will be born. According to reports it’s pretty much been settled that Brad and Angelina are going to give birth in Namibia while Tom and Katie are doing at their quiet Beverly Hills home. The Pitt-Jolie’s definitely win that round. To make things even more exotic it’s been rumored that Maddox and Zahara’s brother or sister will receive a Namibian name. Conversely Tom disclosed to Diane Sawyer the other night that the couple knows the sex of their child and has a name already picked out, yet they aren’t saying what either is.
The next topic is “Media Stakeout” and how both couple are dealing with the press. The Namibian government has already stated that they will kick out any foreign photographers that are at Brad and Angelina’s location without the proper documentation. Levin believes that because the couple has stayed out of the limelight they’ve created more of a buzz than Tom and Katie. Katie has politely been allowing herself to be photographed shopping all around Los Angeles. Trent of Pink is the New Blog says, believes that TomKat created a bigger buzz in this category. He believes they’ve made a “powerful combination” first with the “complete media circus” that surrounds their relationship in conjunction with “the daily Katie bump-watch (and murmurs of ‘is she?’ or ‘isn’t she?’).”
And finally when will we be able to see what we’ve been dying to see for the past nine months. When and in what manner the first baby pics will surface for both couples is quite speculative. Star magazine’s Bonnie Fuller, editorial director of American Media, believes “Everyone expects it [Brad and Angelina’s] to be the most gorgeous baby ever.” Also she thinks the couple “will sell the rights to their baby’s photo, giving the proceeds to one of their favorite charities.” While she predicts Tomkitten’s photos will be everywhere because Tom “hasn’t hidden his relationship with Katie in any way, from the moment it began. It will be an equal opportunity viewing.”

it get better on the late shows and hopefully today & Sunday. I can’t tell if it will be appealing to teenagers. The DEPARTED still showing, my son , one of the manager there in the 20 cinema theater said it will be there for a while, teenagers love it. RWS may end this week- there are only 3 showing time in one cinema.

Hello BAMZS Fans, I saw Babel last night in Houston. It’s showing at about 4 theaters which is not that wide of a release but at least it’s at the main theaters. Also, where I went it was on 2 screens. I invited a bunch of friends and 4 of us made it to the 7:20 show. The theater was probably about almost half full.
I loved the movie!! My friends had different reactions but all liked it. Reactions varied from “it was a very intense movie” to “I liked it.” Nobody liked it as much as I did. I thought my Hotness Man was so incredibly gorgeous, sexy, and his acting was superb — just didn’t have enough of him in the movie for my tastes but still worthy of an Oscar Nomination.
The lady that plays his maid, Amelia, was superb as well. Great story. I will see it again.

let’s see…where do i begin about babel? let’s start with the trailers. they did a whole first look thing on the Good Shepherd. so the first thing i see when i walk into the theater with my artery-clogging popcorn and icee is angie on the screen talking about TGS. now, i’m not saying this just because i’m a BAMZS fan, but that movie looks hella-good. the “secret war” of WWII is one of my favorite history subjects. in fact, the best high school research paper i ever wrote was on this topic. anyway, it looks like we have another fabulous film to look forward to.
now babel. i’m kinda speechless right now. there was so much going on and every bit of it broke my heart. EVERYBODY acted their asses off. there’s not one person i can say stood out over everyone else. but the scene that really sticks in my memory is the “i peed” scene. that got me. that’s when the tears started.

Although I’m on my way to the 12:30 showing, I agree with you. Guys, I know you were touched by the movie, but please don’t ruin it for the rest of us. Revealing spoilers is one of my pet peeves and is primarily the reason why I still have a grudge against Rosie O’Donnell. Back in the day, when Fight Club came out, she revealed the ending to her audience because she didn’t want them to see the movie; she deemed it as too violent. The moment when I turned off her show was when Michael Jordan appeared on it; he said he wanted to see it and she encouraged him not to. She was out of line and completely malicious. And I know some of you aren’t coming from that place, but the effect is still the same.
Oh well i guess we dont matter.

Jolie, Pitt leave Pune after film shoot
Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who were here since October 5 for the shooting of a part of the film A Mighty Heart, on Saturday checked out of the five-star hotel where they were putting up since their arrival.
Jolie, Pitt and their three children checked out from Le Meridien Hotel on Saturday morning after completion of the shooting in Pune, sources said.
However, the city police, airport authorities and the hotel management had no idea about where the star couple and their children had gone.
“We have no idea where they have gone after their check out,” a senior staff of Le Meridien said.
According to sources, after the shoot here, Jolie and Pitt were to leave for Mumbai to resume shooting there.
“They were to go to Mumbai. In fact, we have had a flight plan ready for them for today as a stand by. More than this, we have no idea,” a senior airport official said.
The visit by the Hollywood couple to the city created lot of media hype and also led to skirmishes between the photographers and the couple’s private security personnel.
A Mighty Heart is based on a book of the same name by Marianne, wife of slain American journalist Daniel Pearl.
Pearl was abducted and later killed by militants in Pakistan in 2002. The film is largely based on the life of the murdered journalist and is being co-produced by Pitt’s company.
Jolie plays the role of a pregnant Marianne in the film while Dan Futterman is doing the role of Pearl in the movie directed by Michael Winterbottom.
Parts of the film were shot in Pune due to their similarity with parts of Karachi, the city from where Pearl was abducted.
Due to the controversial subject of the film, the Pakistani Government had refused permission for shooting in that country.
Subsequently, the film unit hired a couple of bungalows in ‘Sindh Colony’ and the shooting begun on October 9.
During their stay, the couple visited an adoption centre and did some shopping in the city, besides touring Goa and Rajasthan.

Never been a smoker so I can’t relate. However, I do have friends who do and they have all said its very difficult to stop. One friend has stated that when she is stressed out, she reaches for a smoke. Perhaps he is stress with that papz around and needed a quickie. I would like to believe that they are herbal cigs and quitting will occur soon.

First thing is first. Brad looks hot in this picture and Mad is forever a cutie. I love seeing father -son pictures between these two.
Another important point to mention, people keep mentioning how much Brad has changed……………….uh actually he hasn’t changed; his environment, his life, the people in his life have changed.
Brad has always been a stand up guy who has never shied away from responsiblity and has always been a down to earth guy who wanted to be a dad more than anything else. He’s always been smart with his movie choices. He never fell for the pretty boy hype around him and always choose distinct movie roles that showed his talent. He’s always been smart with his career and has never been a fickle guy when it comes to relationships.
I understand why people say that he’s changed and how they thought he was all about looks. I think what has changed is that he finally found a person who shares the same goals and priorities as he does, so to many, Brad’s personality is more visible to those who thought he was just a pretty boy. Don’t get fooled by the hype. Brad never thought of himself as the big movie star and the pretty boy. He’s always been determined to go against the grain and show his mettle.
When I found out Brad was with Angelina, it made perfect sense to me even though I never imagined that these two would be together. Not for one minute did I think Brad would leave Maddox after entering his life as a father figure and then eventually as a father. He’s not one of those fickle guys with relationships that go on and off again. What I have observed is that he gives a relationship his full attention but once it’s done, IT IS DONE. There is no turning back for this guy. That’s his pattern. He doesn’t live in the past and doesn’t hold grudges forever.

Brad’s smoking I think he’s cut down and he probably doesn’t do it in front of the kids and Angie. It’s hard to quit, granted I was never smoker, I’ve never even tried it but my father was for over 20 years. Although he did quit when my oldest sister (I’m the youngest out of three) was born. Anyway, at least Brad didn’t smoke directly in front of Angie while pregnant unlike Ben Affleck.
I remember for at least 6 months VV was smoke free……he talked about it while doing promotion for Wedding Crashers and I never saw any photos of him lighting up during that time…..but I have to wonder what made him fall off the wagon since he did it cold turkey. I always wondered if JA had any part since quite frankly it must be hard to quit if your boyfriend or girlfriend is a smoker. I felt the same way about when Brad quit for Troy but then went back to it when he came back home to the states. I’m not accusing I’m wondering and honestly, I’ll never know.
I don’t want to spoil Babel for the people that haven’t seen it yet, but I am going to say that it is the best movie I have seen in a long time and that it is the best I have seen Brad in a any movie. He was fantastic, he played the role of Richard to perfection in my opinion; Cate was great, the whole cast of Babel was great, they did an amazing job, I love all the different stories, but if I had to pick one that really stand out to me was the Mexican story, and the scenes between Brad and Cate was so touching, like I said everyone in Babel did a great job, Alejandro did an incredible job of directing this movie. I cried throughout the whole movie. Babel is touching, emotional, sad, and at time funny, Babel changes the way you look at the world, it teaches you how important communication really is, it touches something deep in your soul.
Brad’s performance in Babel was fantastic and he should be nominated for an OSCAR, actually he should be nominated for GG and SAG as well, he was that fantastic IMO,and if he is not nominated I will go postal on somebody, jk, but I will be very disappointed. I wish there was a special award that can be given to the whole cast of Babel, because they all deserve some kind of award for the great job that they did in Babel. Babel is a masterpiece, a very powerful movie, that can teach us a whole lot about the world we live in.
The exchange between Meditteranean and Jared at the beginning of this thread at around 0230am was cute.
It is a Happy Babel day for us BAMZters and also for us in the US let’s not forget to salute our men and women in uniform and the sacrifices of their families - past and present.
I went to see Babel with my husband with no duress since he liked Brad in Seven and the Ocean’s series. I just want to add that Babel is moviemaking at its finest. The movie makes you feel, think and ponder about the good and bad aspects of life from different cultures. It is a work of art that beholds. To those who haven’t seen it, go see it when you get the chance.
I spent 2 weeks in Hong Kong and another week in Beijing. I must say, many people smoke in Asia. I was walking on the street and I keep smelling smoke. At the end of the day, my clothes smelled like cig.
I read some business articles that smoking actually declined in the US, but the market for Marborogh is doing well in Asia. So I wont be surprised if many Indian people smoke.

I saw Babel last night I took many people with me, The theatre was full and you could hear a pin drop all the way through… Though sniffles could also be heard.
What a beautiful, thought provoking, and powerful film. It puts you through a whole kaleidoscope of emotions.. The scene with Brad helping Kate broke my heart. Every story was magnificently told. I loved it.

Love Brad & Mad and the toy helicopter shot (((swoon))) — Angelina could not have found a better Dad than Brad for her kids — she knows it too….I think for AJ, if it wasn’t going to be Brad, she would have remained a single mom for the rest of her life. That People cover pic, of her looking at Brad as he’s looking at Shilo, is her telling the world how much she loves THAT MAN. It’s one of the most powerful pictures of a woman in love I’ve ever seen.

Good Afternoon Everyone! It looks like quite a few have seen the movie already. I am finally going to see it this afternoon - with or without the hubby.

I inderstand that the Jolie-Pitts have checked out of their hotel in Pune. I wonder when they’re coming home!
Brad looks so good in these pictures taking photos of the city. I think he should carry his camera and take pics of the paps who won’t leave him alone. As for his smoking, I am sure it must be hard to quit, otherwise he would have by now. May be that is one way he deals with the stress of being followed everywhere. Hi guys, happy Babel party. Saw Babel for the second time yesterday. Still loved it. I like the acting and the realism of the scenes the most. So whether I already knew the story or not, it doesn’t matter. As someone said above, I too like Cate Blanchett more and more. The only films I saw oh hers was Elizabeth, and The Aviator. She was outstanding, as she is in Babel. Her appearance in Babel is short, but so powerful. She conveyed so much with her facial expressions. I think she is the greatest actress, better even than Merrill Streep.
All right, who wants to go old school and do the running man w/ me? :)

I just saw Babel. Babel is a very moving, beautiful film. I did not find it depressing but rather uplifting. It makes you appreciate what you have and not take it for granted. BP was exceptional in the film. He deserves an Oscar Nominmation. Next to AJ, I think BP has great film chemistry with Cate B. The Mexican Nanny and the Japanese girl should also get Oscar Nominations. Overall, a very moving and powerful film. If you have not seen it, I highly recommend it. The Departed and Babel should both get plenty of Oscar Nods. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. I am ready for the Babel Party. PARTY OVA HERE!!!!

Hey Cliniqua - I’m hoping one of our folks who get’s the People mag will be kind enough to type up a letter to the mag about the X/VV cover that cracked me up. They only printed 2 letters about that story - one from a Faniston…and one who told them they wasted a cover on a woman who was only concerned about herself and her image whereas Brad and Angie were out there trying to make a difference in the world and at least when there was a story on them it brought that fact to light. It was pretty danged funny.

MUMBAI: Angelina Jolie has shifted location. She is now in Mumbai to shoot for her film ‘A Mighty Heart’, based on the life of slain reporter of Wall Street Journal, Daniel Pearl.
The actress, who plays Pearl’s wife Mariane, arrived in a private chopper on Saturday afternoon and is staying at the seafacing Taj Mahal Palace and Tower hotel in Colaba.
It is learnt that the entire unit of the film has landed in Mumbai and are currently doing a recce of locations for an eight-day shooting schedule, starting Monday. The film chart Pearl’s life and career until his abduction and murder by Al Qaida terrorists in Karachi.
According to a unit member, the movie will be shot on the streets at Mohammed Ali Road, a McDonalds outlet in south Mumbai, and lounge bars Indigo and Soul Fry.
Pearl, who lived in Mumbai for seven years, was a familiar face at Soul Fry and Indigo, where he often played music with Joe Alvarez.
“Indigo is close to Taj, where the unit is staying and in all likelihood they will be shooting a few scenes of Pearl there. Also at a saloon where he often went for a hair cut,” said a source.
Ramesh Sharma, who has directed a documentary on Pearl named ‘The Journalist and The Jihadi: The Murder of Daniel Pearl’, said those were happy years for the reporter.
He had an extensive social circle, which developed during the time spent in the city. “Daniel was a very good musician and a trained classical musician. He could’ve easily become a musician. He played all kinds of instruments, from the violin to a fiddle at Indigo and Soul Fry,” said Sharma.
Most of the scenes to be shot in the city will be between Irfan Khan, Angelina Jolie and Dan Futtermann.As for the Mohammed Ali Road connection, Mariane used to go shopping there for knick knacks.
When told that Angelina will be shooting on Monday with Irfan Khan, who plays Captain (a Pakistani police officer who helped her), Sharma said, “Captain never came to India and did not want to be interviewed either by us for the documentary.
Mohammed Ali Road is very similar to that of markets in Karachi and that may be the reason they are shooting there.” Although she has denied interviews to the media all through her shooting in Pune, Jolie is likely to call a press conference before wrapping up the shoot.

I just came from seeing Babel. And it’s with a heavy heart that I have to say this… if BP does another movie where his physique/looks are the primary selling point, I will have to spank him… hard and definitely not out of pleasure. He, along with the rest of the cast, was fantastic. BP completely disappeared… he was Richard. I know a lot of you projected his current family situation into the film, but I have to disagree. BP went to a place I never saw him go and it was devastating, and yet, you want him to do more exploration of the human spirit, and not necessarily in a drama. I know some of us kid about temples, him being a god, etc., but if we, his fans, and the decisionmakers in HW would step off, for however long it takes, we would be rewarded with a bounty of excellent work from BP.

Wasn’t it awesome to see a ’star’ not fallback on the qualities and affectations that made him a star? I remember someone posting a scan/website of the New Yorker; it critiqued X in TBU- no comment on her acting, like it warranted comment, but the article stated that she was the tannest Chicagian ever depicted in film, or something to that effect. Again, I am not saying that it is necessary for every actor to transform themselves physically, but an actor has to surrender some of their stuff in order to gain something from the character they are portraying. BP did that and I have never been prouder of him. He was top drawer in this film and I hope he continues on this trip.

Babel is great. all of the stories are so human. I loved Brad’s story. But the Japanese girl story was so heart felt. She really needed was some form of release, since she couldn’t express herself verbally she tried or wanted sex. Also the house keepers story. I too hated the nephew. The young brothers that was heart breaking. The scene I loved the most was when the old lady gave Kate the pipe to smoke. Remember just a scene before Kate had told Brad not to use the ice in his drink. Yet she smoked a pipe after the old toothless woman. Pain changes everything.

It can’t be helped by some not to give out some plot lines of the movie to describe how BABEL affected them. Anyhow, it is an exhilirating experience to watch the movie on the big screen, the landscapes, the background music and most especially the acting of the entire cast is just exceptional. I agree with others, I forgot the Brad Pitt as he portrayed Richard Jones. I didn’t even have to ask my husband but he said that we should watch it again next week!

How are you? I just found another person that’s on MSNBC that’s more irritating than CM….Rita Cosby! For all I know, that may be what her voice naturally sounds like but whenever I accidentally stumble upon her show I can’t help but think, “God, ease up on the smokes sweetie!….And possibly the testosterone!” lol And I’m sorry but she doesn’t seem that bright either.
It makes me sad to see the lack of women that have their own hour news show during primetime. Yes, there’s Katie but…I’m just not a huge fan and neither is America because her ratings aren’t doing so great. Although I really like Amy Robach because she’s mix of beauty, wit, and intelligence, which is why she’s Keith’s first sub. anchor whenever he’s sick or has to travel.
Now that I think about it…women dominant daytime tv talk shows while men have late night. Not that I mind watching Conan, Jon, Stephen and at 8, Keith…but I’d like to have some variety, ya know? I saw Amy Sedaris on Martha Stewart where she made fun of Martha’s single life and I just thought, “Amy should have her own talk show!” Martha made things worst by saying, “I don’t live alone..I have five cats” LOL
As much as I like Brangelina I went to see Babel because I really like the director. I love all of the stories in the movie and how they all interwine. I didn’t cry as much as I though and it’s a good thing. I hate it when movies try hard to make you cry. It was more a sombre and reflective movie. It’s also refreshing to see Brad Pitt grown up.
I really really don’t like seeing him still smoking :( Damn you addictive nicotine. Leave Brad alone!

I agree with you too. I love Iñarritu also and I’m seeing this movie because of him and Brad. I own Amores Perros, but I’ve never seen 21 Grams, but I’ve rented it and will watch it before I go see Babel tomorrow. I want to see all of Iñarritu’s vision in it’s entirety.
I love Brad Pitt though and always have. He’s a really underrated actor and it’s definitely because he had to fight his pretty boy image. I could have honestly seen him go the Paul Walker route (and I loves me some Paul Walker because he’s damn fine) and chosen roles that never detract from his looks, but use them instead to promote his talent (and it doesn’t have to be said that Brad is milliions times more talented than one of my favorite eye candies Paul Walker). I’ve always looked pasted Brad’s looks because he is so damn talented.
No matter the role he just IMO brings so much too it, and has such great range. I can’t stand it when people try and say he’s not a good actor. I’m always like WTF! Without a Brad Pitt in this world who would have brought us Legends of the Fall or 12 Monkeys (the ease with which he could morph into this insane person, right down to the head jerks and weird body movements), or Tyler Durden in Fight Club or the Jamican accent he affected in Meet Joe Black or the end scene of Seven when you can see him balancing his rage against his sanity before finally giving in to shoot Kevin Spacey. He’s great and memorable. I can’t wait to see him in Babel I have no doubt he will bring something special to the charachter he portrays.
He definitely needs to be interviewed by James Lipton on Inside the Actor’s Studio. I’d love to hear him just talk about his work.
He’s so modest to a fault though and I think, honestly, that is his biggest drawback (although a noble one). He has every right to be proud and boast about his talents, but I remember hearing about how one of his family members said that he has always been acutely aware of the advantages he has, in the looks department, and probably otherwise, and thus attempts to detract from himself instead of sometimes taking the credit he deserves. I guess that means it’s up to us fans to praise him when he doesn’t do it himself.

No matter the role he just IMO brings so much too it, and has such great range. I can’t stand it when people try and say he’s not a good actor. I’m always like WTF! Without a Brad Pitt in this world who would have brought us Legends of the Fall or 12 Monkeys (the ease with which he could morph into this insane person, right down to the head jerks and weird body movements), or Tyler Durden in Fight Club or the Jamican accent he affected in Meet Joe Black or the end scene of Seven when you can see him balancing his rage against his sanity before finally giving in to shoot Kevin Spacey. He’s great and memorable. I can’t wait to see him in Babel I have no doubt he will bring something special to the charachter he portrays.

The first movie I ever saw with Brad was “Seven years in Tibet” (and don’t forget his Austrian accent to this movie also). My mother had show the movie before me and told me this phrase “I’ve never seen a man this beautiful in my entire life” and then I saw it on my own out of curiosity. That was it for me! I was astonished by his looks! I was in lust, in love, in everything!! LOL!
After that I started following his carrier by watching more of his films. The second one was “Seven”. I simply LOVE this movie until now. The storyline always had an intense effect on me. And I was like “Wow! Wait a minute this man can really act!!”. This last scene when they are bringing his wife’s head in the box and the way his screams “what’s in the f**** box??” My Lord I was trembling and crying at the same time!
And then comes Fight Club, Twelve Monkeys A River Runs Trough It, Legends of The Fall, Snatch, and even old ones like California and Too young to Die. The man is talented and has a great charisma on the screen. He has given remarkable performances in the past. They way he is putting all of his emotions on his face. His eyes and his forehead. He uses his forehead a lot to express emotion in the characters he portrays. His great ability to change his accent whenever is needed and be very persuadable in that such as SYIT Snatch and California. And of course the way he is changing his looks. He never looked the same in ANY of his films. I never got the impression that Brad Pitt is playing Tristan or Tyler or Mills. The characters were always in the front run. Not his Star persona. Unfortunately some people couldn’t scratch a little deeper that the surface of his looks and many took him just like a “pretty face”. But this man has proved from the beginning that he is a lot more than that.

i don’t know why but most of my favourite directors are spanish/mexican. there’s always this understated line of emotion that i respond to very deeply ie Y tu mamá también (yay, Gael García), talk to her, 21 grams (you’ll like it), volver they’re all great.
while i didn’t really appreciate Brad Pitt as an actor (I really really don’t like GPaltrow and therefore hated everything she touched) I enjoyed him in this movie very much. I didn’t watch him act, I saw him feel and it was moving. That telephone scene and the silence followed, ugh heart-breaking.
The actress that plays the nanny is scary good. Not one faulty moment. I’d like to see her nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
Personally, Sleepers is one of my favorites of Brad’s. His performance impressed me greatly.

Brangelina have finally left Pune after a 38-day shooting schedule of A Mighty Heart in Pune. Along with kids Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh, the couple left for Mumbai at around 9:30 in the morning yesterday, keeping the media guessing. It was being speculated that they would leave late on Saturday evening or early Sunday morning. But Brangelina gave the media the slip and left quietly on Saturday morning.They are expected to shoot there for five days before going to Goa for a three-day-long schedule of A Mighty Heart. “They are not going to Goa for a pleasure trip.We have finalised some locations for shooting there,” said a source from the production unit.
On Friday evening itself, intense speculation had started amongst the production unit and hotel authorities that the couple might leave late on Friday night or even early morning on Saturday may be at two or three. But finally they settled for a morning exit.
When they left Le Meridien hotel in Pune in the morning, there was no media there. Hotel authorities managed to keep their exit hushhush.They left from the VIP parking of the hotel which is underground.
Meanwhile, the mood at Sindh Society was upbeat as we met some of the casting members of the film. Ghulam Mohammad and Maqbool were among the artistes who were there for shooting on the last day. “The shot today was that of Eid where we were showing the festivities associated with the festival. It was a shot showing Pakistan where a number of family members and friends have assembled to celebrate Eid,” says Maqbool.
Ghulam plays a butcher in the movie and his shot is that of cutting a goat on Eid. “The shot was of a prosperous family in Pakistan,” he says. Ghulam adds that a Pakistani citizen has been there with the crew “to teach the taur-tarika and Pakistani rituals.” The movie is based on the assassination of Daniel Pearl. Sindh Society had been transformed to Zamzama Street of Karachi to show it as Pakistan. Some shots of the Karachi Police have also been taken as we saw junior artistes in police uniforms and also dressed as pathans. “We had a great time we spent with Angelina ma’am.We hope that she comes back,” says a technical member of the crew. Rita Cosby does have a very annoying voice. The only time I’ve seen her though is when I was watching TDS and Jon was making fun of her. The only one I like are Ellen and Sam Bee. So I’d probably would end up complaining or not caring if more women were given their own hour news show during primetime.
Amy Sedaris is hilarous and if she had her own show, I’d check it out but other than that, I can’t even think of another woman who should be given some more T.V. time…one which I like.
I love watching Conan too. Can’t wait till Leno retires (no offense) and Conan moves up to his time spot. I wonder how Conan vs. Letterman would do……

I love Ellen too! She’s just fabulous as is Sam Bee. Another thing about Amy’s appearance on Martha, she was asked where she got one of her recipes from for her book “I Like You” and she happily said “My brother’s boyfriend, Hugh Hamrick” and there was this odd silence from the audience and Martha..she quickly changed the subject, Martha that is. Watching them together…Amy has so much personality and wit while Martha is incredibly dull. I can’t stand Nancy Grace either.
I’m not a Leno fan yet he still beats Dave in the ratings. I know that Dave is at least kind towards Conan. He congratulated him when Conan’s daughter was born.
I seriously found three things about KO that makes me want him even more lol Yes, he is my favorite news anchor and all but I’m not blind. First, as a kid he begged his parents to go on a family vacation to Pittsburgh because he wanted to see the trolleys! And he was six :) The second thing, he was given an Ann Coulter doll on his show and he bashed the crap out of it! Lastly, I know people call him arrogant but when he did coverage of the elections w/ Chris Matthews he did the cutest thing. Chris complimented by comparing him to Edward R. Murrow and he modestly looked down! And he’s actually won the Edward R. Murrow award before yet he’s still very hesitant when people make that comparison..adorable!

Just got back from seeing the movie. It was a very good film. Brad’s performance was his best to date. I am thinking that he will get an Academy Award nomination for this. The whole movie was beautifully acted.

Hello everyone. I try to read posts when I can, and you all remain inspired and inspiring. This blog site is so invigorating sometimes, if not a little redundant. You all have become familiar to me, bringing me outrage and compassion in one voice. I wish I was more vocal here. I so admire the humanitarian way that prevails here and, which brought me here first. AJ has thought outside the box for much of her life. She is one I’ve admired from a perspective outside of popular culture. I truly thought that BP and Aniston were a “made up” Hollywood stunt, like many famous people who keep the public persona away from the true selves. I saw Babel last night. This is a movie that has much to say about communication, culture and hope. I myself, thought it was brilliant. Not a star-type of vehicle.
I can’t sit through too many movies that rivit me these days. Babel was over 2 hours long, but it seemed only like the moments experienced. Amelia is one of many and remains a moral lighthouse; I related to Richard because of his experience of losing a child. The movie is expressive and tells an continuing story that many should hear, whatever critics may say.
I bought People with Britney Spears on cover. The mundane lives on in/with the Malibu crowd, but it continues to distract me and therefore, alleviate attention to what hurts. I (guiltily) liked the obvious diss on Aniston in the “”Mailbag” and appreciated the advise taken when the Jolie Pitts’ efforts were appreciated.pages later…(they really don’t care about the recognition, IMHO).
I hope all is well with all of you…Listen always, act when you can.

I don’t find Leno funny at all so I still can’t understand how he gets those ratings. Letterman’s jokes are funny but he is little mean spirited with his comments. Conan is really goofy and no matter who the guests are, it’s always fun to watch. I think the fact that he is self-depreciating makes him funny.
KO really is the present day Edward R. Murrow. Even though KO is funnier. You gotta calm down with your KO crush. Lol.. Is he married? If not, then procede ahead. I wish I could have seen him bash the hell out of that Coulter doll. She is completely psyhco and when she went after those widows, all I could say was WTF?!!!

Good Evening BAMZS Fans! I saw Babel again tonight and it played even better this time than the first time. Before I go on, I just want to say that this post will NOT contain spoilers. For those fans who accidentally read some of the earlier posts containing spoilers, please don’t be discouraged. Go out there and see the movie. I knew exactly what was going to happen and I still left the theater feeling that in some ways I was seeing the movie for the very first time. I cried during scenes for this showing where I didn’t cry when I saw the movie a week ago. Last week I found the Japanese storyline the most compelling and this time it was the American couple’s (Pitt & Blanchett) that kept me at the end of my seat.
Its also fun to notice how different tonight’s audience reacted compared to the one I sat with last Friday. Tonight’s audience was not shy about laughing during the funny parts and at least imo were a little more shy about crying during the emotional scenes. There was a lot more clearing of throats and deep breathing and discreet wiping of the eyes whereas last weeks audience had some loud criers. LOL The audience was full and I mean full. Even the dreaded front row, neck breaking seats, were taken. This is definitely a movie that all the actors can and should be proud of being a part of.

Right now, three human beings are attempting the impossible – running 4,000 miles across the Sahara Desert to raise awareness for the 1.2 billion people around the world who don’t have access to clean water. They will run 50 miles a day - for around 80 days - an amazing feat of human will and endurance.

Earlier this spring, my friends at the ONE Campaign and DATA brought me to Zambia and South Africa, where I witnessed extreme poverty and the role that clean drinking water plays in getting millions out of danger. I learned that a child dies every 15 seconds due to diseases from dirty water.
Upon my return, I wanted to do something.
Through some friends, I learned about three men who will undertake a quest so amazing and symbolic that it could do an immense amount of good for Africans in extreme poverty. In a bold expedition that has never been attempted - 3 men, from 3 nations will run from the Atlantic coast of Senegal, through Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Libya, to the Red Sea in Egypt.
My colleagues, including James Moll - a great filmmaker who won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 1999 - are documenting and promoting the expedition in our project called “Running the Sahara”. As part of this effort, we’ve started a charitable initiative called H2O Africa, in a large part to raise awareness for clean water programs on the continent.
One of the reasons I got involved in the project was because of the day I spent with a 14 year-old girl in Zambia earlier this year. I walked two miles with her to the closest water source, a well outside her village. I asked her if she wanted to stay in her village when she grew up, and her face exploded into a huge smile. The translator said to me, “She is being very shy…she says that she wants to move to big city - Lusaka - she wants to be a nurse.” And it was clear to me at that moment that if this well were not there for her, she would never even be able to entertain the concept of planning for the future - she would have been trying to survive just for that day.
This one well was giving hope to thousands of people in the surrounding area, and this hope translates into something concrete - that girl can now fulfill a dream to become a nurse, and can become an economic contributor to the Zambian economy.
Running the Sahara is happening NOW. These guys are there and they are going for it. And we want the world to sit up and take notice. These guys are my heroes, and I want to do whatever I can to support them and their mission.

Mumbai, November 11: The Taj Mahal Palace and Tower in Mumbai seemed like an impenetrable fortress on Saturday morning, with all four roads around the hotel packed with either police vans or patrolling policemen.
But that was understandable, especially when the expected guests at the hotel were someone as high profile as Hollywood heartthrobs Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and their three children, Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh Nouvel.
Having arrived in the city by a private chartered flight from Pune on Saturday morning, the star couple reached the hotel around 1.30 pm in a motorcade of four cars. Two Toyota Innovas were the front and rear guard of the motorcade while a silver Mercedes and another unidentified car were being driven in the middle. While Pitt appeared to be traveling in the Mercedes, Jolie could not be spotted, as the cars zoomed right into the hotel’s basement via one of the Taj’s entrance gates on the northern side.
Inquiries with some of the staff and security personnel at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower revealed that Jolie and Pitt are staying in a section containing rooms 319 to 353, which are on the third floor of the Taj Mahal Palace.
Security on that floor remained tight throughout the day, with no photography allowed even of the staircase leading to the floor on which the celebrity couple is residing.
The couple went for dinner at a private section at the Indigo Restaurant, behind the Taj.
There is also word that executive chef for the Taj group, Hemant Oberoi, will prepare a special meal for the duo at the Chef’s Studio at Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, on Sunday evening.
The couple supposedly has a taste for the Italian fare and Chef Oberoi could possibly be preparing an Italian meal, after which he will familiarise himself with the duo’s preferences for the week of their stay.

Taking time off the shooting, Brad Pitt played the dutiful father last week when he took Maddox and Zahara to the Japalouppe horse farm in Talegaon, on the outskirts of Pune. ‘‘On October 25 we got a call from `Holly` asking if the kids could come over. As a residential camp was on with 35 kids on the premises, we couldn’t give them exclusive space, but they were okay with it,’’ said Lorraine More, owner of the farm.
They drove in after the security guards checked out the place and ensured that their request of ‘‘ no press people, no crowds, no photographs and no telling anyone’’ had been adhered to. ‘‘ Maddox was thrilled to ride the pony and in half an hour was trotting the pony on his own. I called out to Brad, who was playing with Zahara at the time and he looked so proud - he gave Maddox the thumbs up and called him a champ. Brad was so genuinely happy to see his kids having a good time, he kept clicking pictures,’’ More said.

I loved how there was only one leg left after he was finished with it. His gray hair reminds of Jon so much that when I see videos or pictures of the both of them w/ their naturally dark hair it’s so weird! But the glasses are great too, I wish he’d go back on TCR, he has a reason to because of his new book and of course, I’d love to see him on TDS. How can I not love a man that absolutely detests Ann Coulter?
During Amy’s appearance on Martha’s show they rarely cut to the audience…I assume Martha likes to keep the camera on her at all times lol Just Amy’s delivery killed me. Like she spoke in her Jerri Blank voice when she asked “You live ALONE Martha?” Hahaha. To soften the blow she said, “I do too” but as we all know she has human friends like Jon, Stephen and Paul Dinello and many more. I also assume she has a lot of gay guy friends too.
Well, I finally got to see ‘Babel!’ What a movie! I was totally blown away by the performances, by everyone, professional actors, and non-professional. Brad deserves to be recognized for this piece of work, as well as the Japanese actress. I won’t say anymore to spoil it for anyone, but I will say that it’s a must-see! Two thumbs up, way, way up!

I loved his Charlie Rose interview. I love Charlie Rose. I want to see Pitt on James Lipton because it would pull together the breadth of Pitt’s work for all to see and finally IMO give him the recognition for it that he really deserves.
I want to hear him talk about his craft. I want to know what made him chose certain characters and what he personally brought to the role. I want to know how he feels he’s grown and changed as an actor and where he sees himself in the future. I want to know his personal philosophy when it comes to his craft and I want him to sit in front of other aspiring actors and discuss what has made him so great so that it can be known that beyond his looks he’s a very talented man and should be respected for that.
He did that a bit on Charlie Rose, but I like that Lipton’s focus is on the entirety of his craft and you get to learn so much about the personal philosophy of the actor and get to know what has made them into the actors they are. I’ve gained respect for actors used to consider far less unworthy, such as Teri Hatcher (who actually has a great singing voice), Jennifer Lopez (who actually has held her own with some heavy weight male actors in a way few other women could or have) and Dave Chapelle (who I always loved, but who I recognized how intelligent some of his comedy is).
I think Brad should have that same forum, it would blow people away to realize how much he’s actually contributed to the acting scene. Especially for a man whose career began as the pretty boy in Thelma & Louise.

I love Latin American directors, writers, movies in general too. I love Y Tú Mama También also. Gael is such a great actor. I want to see more of his work too.
One of my most favorite is Maria Full of Grace. I loved the actress in the film and the theme. It was really memorable to me.

Grabbed the horrid In Touch w/ Ryan Phillipe on cover and Angie up top, because of this headline — “Latest News: Angelina’s Baby Bump” then over her pic it says, “She’s wearing pregnancy clothes again.” I scanned the article and I swear those rag writers must camp out on JJ and read our ****. LOL They had the same theories, the all-black, tunic’d Angelina who gets skinnier before she gets bigger in her first trimester. Best of all, they claim to have this quote from a Brad rep: “I don’t know that to be true.”

Amaya - not only did Keith detach the leg but he threw at the camera. The woman sitting next to him covered her mouth because she was laughing uncontrollably. It was money well spent on the doll. lol
I personally like men with dark hair and salt and pepper hair is so sexy, the only exception I make to that is with Brad. I agree, whenever I see some random flashback on TDS that shows Jon with all dark hair, it’s wierd. He looks way better with the gray.
Speaking of hair, is it me, or does CM’s hair look like a badly made white/blonde toupee? Seriously, I can’t even pay attention to what he’s saying cause all I can do is look at the hair and listen to the tone of his voice. I don’t even hear the words.
