Ok its her bodyguards who did all that, but what the heck does she mean by letting them get away with it..

In India we dont have a papparazi like out there, so she must realize that you cannot abuse and treat everyone around you assuming they are that! Those parents didnt even care a damn who she was, some of them didnt even know who she was until told! It just shows she is a hypocrite to talk about a rainbow family and abuse people in another land. Jolie’s bodyguards beat up mediapersons in Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 16: In yet another incident involving Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie’s bodyguards, the waiting mediapersons outside a south Mumbai school got beaten up by them on Thursday.

Jolie was shooting for her latest flick ‘A Mighty Heart’ about slain Wall Street journalist Daniel Pearl’s life in the school premises when the incident happened.

Media people were outside the school, waiting for the shoot to get over and subsequently speak to the famous actress, when the bodyguards manhandled them.

It is also reported that the parents of the children studying in that school had objected to the management giving the school premises for shooting of the film.

Well, I think BAMZS fans need to go over to Perez Hilton and give him a piece of their mind. In his latest thread he is calling Angie a ****. Where does he stand on her? I thought he liked her and hated the X. He is confusing.

Karishma, when big stars go outside the country to do things like movies, in the case of Brad and Angie, or Madonna’s adoption or even Tom Cruise getting married in Italy, the occasions attract a lot of people and paparrazis and there definitely will be reports of happenings like this one. Most of the reports are exaggerated in the press to cause sensation. I think Americans should be used to this type of reports now and be more logically instead of blaming people. Plus you never get to hear the bodyguards side of the story. The story also said nobody filed any complaints, this is the account of a journalist. Give it a rest.

I have Deja Vu. That photo of Angelina on the cover of Maxim is an old one. It’s “done the rounds”. She’s looking good if not “very maxim” on that cover.

Whoeve said that local production liasons in countries are resposible for any local shoots is correct. The failure of the local liaisons, who know local customs, protocol and the nature of day to day life has been magnified in this production. I don’t think it would have been like this in Pakistan. Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, South Africa, etc…all seem to have their ish together as far as film production. Anyhow, this incident will be seen for what it really was. Overblown like the other “incidents” reported with inaccuracies in the Indian tabloids and a failure of local productions teams.

Thanks to Tres Jolie of the fabulous photos of Angelina. Her natural hair color is growing in and looks more flattering than the goth black that she loves. She looks like a teenager!

Jared your threads are always so entertaining to read, I’m not a fan of no one. So I wonder if you did some kind of casting call for all the Brangelina worshippers. It amuses me to read how many here worship a couple they have never met and don’t know personaly. It’s almost too scary!! I like Angie but reading comments from these crazy posters make her stories always seem weird. Get a life or an education people, if you where to tell those around you what stupid comments you post I’m sure they will think ya’ll are crazy. I had typed something similar to what you posted (re Karishma claiming to be a fan of Angie’s, yet this is the first time I’ve seen her post) and yet she was willing to hang her despite the fact that the story has yet to be proven true? Demanding an apology when we don’t know yet what the real story is! And even though there were interviews, who knows if those interviews have not been slanted or biased or even just hearsay. You know how people can get excited over being interviewed by the meida and just say anything that they have been prompted to say!

As the names of Jolie & Pitt raised the profile of this film shoot, I wonder how other producers in Hollywood will now look at India.

I read before that Bollywood is keen on attracting Hollywood to shoot movies in India, but the news from the AMH shoot seems not be positive. Will the money savings justify the aggravation that the actors and crew have to go through?

MUMBAI: Two road accidents, numerous fisticuffs and schedules gone awry. These jottings in the Brangelina tour diary of Pune’s heat and dust say it all. Will the reel-life Mr and Mrs Smith ever return to India to shoot a film?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may have realised by now why veteran Hollywood director Oliver Stone didn’t shoot his controversial movie ‘Alexander’ in India, despite his much-publicised reconnaissance trip.

They may even sympathise with the British crew who were not on talking terms with their Indian counterparts towards the completion of the Oscar-winner ‘Gandhi’ almost three decades back.

The truth is that Bollywood’s countryside is different from Planet Hollywood. Here, postponements are nothing out of the ordinary and laptops are alien to film sets. In contrast, Hollywood teams stick to schedules and juggle their production needs with computers. Stone flew out the moment he hit Indian red tape.

Worst, say actors who have been part of western filmmaking, there is a tendency to make a quick buck from unsuspecting foreign crews. When Hollywood actor Matt Damon and the ‘Bourne Identity’ crew came down for a shoot in Goa, they overshot the estimated budget by almost a double. Bollywood lore has it that room rates were overstated and so were local manpower costs. Hollywood teams depend on desi line producers, who keep accounts on paper unlike their Hollwood counterparts. Richard Attenborough’s ‘Gandhi’, too, had gone over budget.

Recalls a unit member of the film, “The total budget allotted that time was Rs 6.5 crore, but the amount was exhausted in making half the film.” Thankfully, the government of the day backed the project and the film was completed.
In hindsight, the unit member feels the British crew didn’t understand the Indian crew’s way of functioning, leading to costs spiralling. “But there is no denying the tension between the British and Indians. More often than not, they didn’t communicate with each other, which again affected the film,” he insists.
Twenty-four years later, the storyline is the same. The Indian line producers are still not able to handle the budgets allotted to them. Not surprisingly then, the Hollywood production ‘Marigold’, which boasts of an Indian star, has gone over budget.

India’s greatest defeat in this regard has been its failure to come up with efficient service providers a concept that has made countries like Thailand and South Korea a favourite with Hollywood. Service providers are literally people who hold the foreign crew’s hand through local paperwork and jargon.

In the absence of such professionals, Hollywood crew depend on word-of-mouth recommendations. The reccomendations are not always apt. Says Udayshankar Pani, who has worked for ‘Gandhi’ and has been a line producer for many German films shot in India, “There are not enough service providers and Indian film schools don’t treat production as a serious subject.”

Gulshan Grover, who has worked in many Hollywood films, feels both sides are to be blamed for the communication gap. He says, “We have some of the most talented guys who are good at multi-tasking despite the poor infrastructure, but a few among us have the habit of getting more out of the dollar-spending guys.
The foreign crew, too, have to shoulder a bit of the blame. They treat us very badly and behave as if they are doing us a favour.” German filmmakers like Michael Enke confess that though their companies are ready to invest in India, many are put off by their previous experiences.

Enke was helped by Pani for his film, but says that many other filmmakers are at the mercy of tour operators who double up as service providers. Hollywood’s favourite locales Goa, Kerala, Ladakh and Rajasthan in fact, have many such tourist operators doubling as service providers and making a hash of the job.
Says Dilip Borkar, who has been a service provider for Indian and foreign film units for 15 years, “Most often these so-called service providers fleece the foreign producers who are ignorant about India. The stories float around and international film producers prefer not to return because of the negative stories.”
But Arjun Bagga of Nora Films, who was the production manager for Omar Sharif’s ‘One Night With The King’, refuses to take a dim view of things. He feels we need to start by clearly revealing the ground realities of our country.
“For instance, it takes four days to get equipment cleared from the customs. If the foreign crew is informed about this and organises itself accordingly, lot of heartburn will be avoided,” Bagga adds.

Well I was reading along, enjoying the thread, and it took a serious downturn when posts appeared about why Angie is smiling or how much or if Brad was happy before her, or she used to smile before him, or if he used to smile befoe her and who is happier than whom….c’mon people! We’re better than that kind of silly exchange. And to answer “fan’s” question, NO we do not have teams here, certainly not a Brad v. Angie one. I hope people are past that.

Maybe it’s true that Bollywood would like to attract Hollywood stars. But the people of India do not care and the Indian government does not care. And that is alot of people. Over 1 billion in a very tiny peninsula. You expect there to be some sort of formality to everything. India is an overpopulated country. Not all the people know about Hollywood. You cannot control so many people. Just look at how skinny the Indian police are. They have a hard time controlling India too. India is a chaotic country. But there are so many places that are not like what you see in the tabloids. If the Indian press is saying bad things about Brangelina, it’s because again things are more chaotic there. But as far as I can see, the Indian press have been as bad as alot of other press.

But after I left that country, I was so renewed & refereshed (like I had been off to a retreat), it was unbelievable. And I was so loved by the Indian people. They are a good people. They really are. They are a simple people. And there are parts of India that are wonderful. And there are many many places where you won’t find any chaos at all.

I am also ashamed at someone like ‘Stardust’ (JJ poster, who’s comments I read a while back) who seems like a follower and not a leader and agreeing with all the brangelina criticisms of Indians and India. That was a while back though. And if you’re going to ask me why I didn’t post anything before, it’s because I never have the TIME. I just look at the pics, rarely skim through the comments and leave. In fact I haven’t been to JJ in quite a while. i just coincedentally happen to have the brief time and energy to post today. I gotta agree with you here. It seems this was a situation that got really out of hand. But still, we don’t know if Angie was even anywhere near any of the fray. You know good and well Angie would nit sanction or endorse anybody, especially children being put in a harmful situation. These stories make it sound like she was standing in the midst of it, and I seriously doubt that is the case. It still appears to me that the Indian press is very quick to make Angie personally responsible. It sounds like the result of poor planning on the part of many people. Angie doesn’t make these movies by herself, you know. She doesn’t plan, select, and coordinate the locations.

And another thing, it says the children were frightened by “crew” wearing police uniforms and carrying guns. Why would the “crew” be in costume? That’s bogus, for sure.

This kind of sensational journalism follow the stars where they have a lot of paparrazis, journalists, local people and bodyguards all involved in a scuffle. We should get used to this by now. It is not the fault of the stars neither do we know whether the reports are accurate. This is like blaming athletes for a stampede at the stadium between the police and the fans.

You know, despite all the negative criticisms of India or their press, i have not seen Angie SO happy and smiling and relaxed as she is there in India. She has enjoyed herself and been happy in other parts of the world, as well. But I’ve never seen a smile as big as that until she went to India. I think she is feeling a sense of mormalcy because of the way her new Indian friends there treat her. I think you fanatics need to stop blaming India for anything negative that goes on with Brangelina. i understand the need for control, but you won’t find it in India. Which makes India the kind of experience you won’t find anywhere else. If India was so so bad, then why do so many Bollywood stars live there instead of move out? And why do so many Indians from other parts of the world spend thousands of dollars a year to keep going back and visiting the place?

I have a friend who’s family is from india, and she had nothing but great things to say about visiting India. And I grew up with her and as a youngin she had negative things to say about India. But now that she’s an adult, she realizes that all those negative things she thought about her own family’s country were all childish and ignorant minded. Now she goes back there all the time, spending thousands of dollars on plane tickets. A plane ticket to India can be highly expensive from certain far away countries.

And these Bollywood stars who do make alot of money could move out of India, but they refuse to move away.

BCBG, I just went to see Babel again with a friend yesterday. I still enjoy it, and my friend loves it.

There are never pictures of these lies despite the no. of paparazzis present. Same with the lie about Angie being in an accident, no picture until we found out it was a lie. I think we should hold our journalists responsible for publishing this type of stuff before a thorough investigation is made. Remember the fake Al-queda threat anyone? So far, the only Pune the media has covered involves uncouth incidents, rather than the city’s scenic beauty. This is a golden opportunity for Pune to showcase its hospitality and attract tourists. Its messed up that the press has that kind of control and sway over what the population is privy too and sad that the real deal isn’t demanded. While reading about the incident at the Indian school involving Jolie’s bodyguards, assuming it was true for a second:

I wonder if there’s something in common between Jolie’s bodyguards and her fans, because some of the fans do act very bullishly. They verbally attack everyone who disagrees with them on Jolie or her lover Pitt.

If her bodyguards did do ANY OF WHAT WEVE HEARD she ABSOLUTELY IS RESPONSIBLE - NO QUESTION! And she should WANT to apologize!! I just think ALL CELEBS should think of the other people around them and their safety instead of just their own safety. Is there a Suri thread at JJ? Because I would like to comment, that this unphotoshopped, unpolished Suri is nothing to be crazy about. A baby is never ugly, but she is absolutely nothing special. And her hair is not the same as in the VF. Which means that her pic was shamelessly photoshopped.

ITA. I didn’t say that Brad the man is the sole reason of Angelina’s happiness LOL. She has gone through self-discovery and self-realization long before Brad came into the picture–if anybody more influential to her life, it was probably Maddox. She said Maddox changed her, he “made me a woman”, making her GROW UP to be a responsible and giving adult. I would say that Brad saw this woman, and I truly think they “matched”, their life goals, interests, stature in business, all of it. They fit like a puzzle. Brad did change her mind in having a biological child. She saw that Brad wanted one, and as charitable as she is (saying one biological child means one less she could adopt), she did see that charity does starts at home :)

Yeah, I know, I guess I didn’t make it clear in my post what I responding to. I am just glad there is an interview with this, because I thought there might not be, considering some people said the picture was older. It’ll probably be just a little sound-byte interview like Brad’s for Esquire (which I was disapppointed in, frankly), but it will be an appetizer for the Jan Vogue, which I seriously hope will have a nice looooong old school Angie interview.

Initial reports about the school fracus are disturbing but so often turn out to be embellished. I don’t know if Mickey was involved but if he was…good on him. I for one am thrilled that Angie has Mickey. That guy would take a bullet for her…and so what if he roughs up someone on the sideline here or there. I also feel bad for the Mexican nanny. She is a good woman. She really takes good care of the children. It’s just so unfortunate that she had to be deported. All she did was going to her son’s wedding. But sometimes, things happen which is beyond her control.

Thanks for the post about Ben Affleck. What he said reminds me of the same feeling that Brad must have had during the last 3 years of his marriage. But I’m happy for him now. Every time I see Brad carrying the children, it reminds me (I just cant help it) that Jennifer Aniston must have starved him the joy of fatherhood.

Thanks for doing that BCBG (checking out that vid footage in question, in detail), I knew it had to be something like that.

I will never forget what it was like to be at TIFF when Indian stars SRK (that’s what his nickname is - his initials) and another older distinguished actor from India who is a huge star (also named Khan) was there - it was mayhem and madness, the crowd would not listen, they’d pretend to nonchalant prior to anyone showing up at the venue, but then when a whiper that they were coming got out, they’d immediately start screaming and pushing and shoving and going nutso.

Seriously, not too much unnerves me but that kind of unbridled fandom was spooky.

I told you guys before, though Brad had bigger crowds that were going crazy - it was a happy chilled out crazy….the Indian film’s premiere was mayhem.

So I don’t even need to see the vid to know exactly what was going on.

Btw, count me among the people (and there are a LOT) that think what Ben is doing now talking about J.Lo and their relationship is pretty tacky and crass.

It reminds me of Traniston and her constant alluding to BP and the break up.

As far as I’m concerned, you can say what you will about J.Lo, but when girlfriend moves on, she MOVES ON…she has nothing to say about anything, and nothing bad to say about anybody either —

I compared what Karishma post to the splash video. Karishma was fabricating the entire post. Her post is full of holes. She assumed this and that. The video clearly did not show Jolie was there. She was inside filming. Look at the face (color) of the crowd.

I dont have a good gut feeling of Karishma. Her intent is obvious. !!!! In fact, I wont be surprised that she was the “jen” who used to post here, the jen who said Z had “development problems”, the same jen who was paid by the Aniston camp.

“Jolie, That’s Crew-d Behaviour”

The police had to escort out Angelina Jolie and her crew shooting a scene for A Mighty Heart from the Anjuman-i-Islam school premises near CST, after parents, angered by alleged insults from team members, protested and forced the filming to stop.

During the afternoon shift, parents found that the shooting hampered students’ entry into their classrooms. School buses that normally drop the children inside the school compound had to leave the children near J J School of Arts yesterday.

Mohammad Hassan, a Dongri resident and Parents Teachers Association (PTA) member who had brought his two sons, who study in standards IV and VII, said, “There are eight school buses and each vehicle has 40 to 45 students. Hundreds of children had to trek through the footpath to the school and there was a huge commotion at the gates.”

Shama Parvez, mother of two girls of class I and III, said, “There were men in uniform carrying guns. The guns were of course fake guns but the children were frightened.”

Finally, faced with protesting parents, the team left after nearly three hours in the campus.

Later, PTA members met school officials to register their protests. A trustee of Anjuman-i-Islam said that parents had filed complaints at the Azad Maidan police station. “We had given permission for the shooting. It was a misunderstanding between parents and the film team that caused the problem,” the trustee said.

I’m slowly getting through the thread and I’ve got to say that this whole brouhaha is only happening because the people at the school mislabelled the security detail by referring to them as “Jolie’s bodyguards”. Those people weren’t AJ’s “bodyguards”. From what I’ve been able to gleen from all the stories since they’ve been in India - Brad & Angie have 4, that’s FOUR, personal security men with them, with Mickey being Angie’s watchdog.

In the video, Mickey is with Angie and so is the really tall guy who’s been in a lot of the recent photos. The two of them seem to be assigned to Angie. When we saw Brad at the airport when he returned to Pune there was a short, muscular bald guy and another guy with him. That’s it - that’s their 4 PERSONAL BODYGUARDS. The rest of the security team belongs to the production unit. They’re not B/A’s bodyguards.

So here’s my problem with these news stories - if the SECURITY DETAIL was roughing up people and slapping kids…there were more parents there than guards…why didn’t they just beat the crap out of the guards? It’s stupid. When you outnumber the guards, just stampede them! Even if they have guns…they can’t shoot everybody without stopping to reload a few times and by then the crowd has the advantage! Sheesh. There’s a 1.2 BILLION people in India…and 4 bodyguards. I rest my case.

To me, she is very biased.

What I am curious about, Passing Through, is that anytime a fiasco is printed in the press, the celeb’s publicist will answer to that. So, how come there was never a response by Cindy G. (Brad’s PR person) or anyone else amongst their crew about the accusations that the people were mishandled or verbally abused or any other episode that has happened with them and has been printed in the press. Before Cindy was answering press questions, right and left, but lately not so.

There was excitement at the press conference for the Angelina Jolie starrer A Mighty Heart based on the book by Mariane Pearl, wife of the executed Wall Street journo Daniel Pearl on Wednesday. The woman dubbed the world’s sexiest set the room abuzz as she stepped in. Beautiful yes, porcelain like, yes, but how thin! Her arms were very slender, and her veins were showing. Was she, as she claimed, merely in character to portray Mariane Pearl, who was extremely thin during the days the film portrays? Or was there more to it? Though US tabloids have reported rumoured childhood battles with anorexia, Angelina has strongly denied having eating disorders. Regardless, the petite Jolie seemed to radiate confidence, appearing relaxed and cheerful as she answered questions.
Angelina has by now been in India for almost a month, and has had little respite from her hectic shoot schedules in Pune and Mumbai. “Pune was a little relaxed. I love the house where we were shooting. I got a lot of quality time to spend with my family there. That’s probably the best memory I would be carrying with me, from India this time,” she said.

Also, the hot weather somehow makes you lose weight, plus you are more active in India. Don’t get me wrong though. There are alot of fat and or muscular Indians as well. In fact, the female actors are voluptuous and the male actors are muscular and the rich are very healthy. But middle class and poor are a bit less.

Cut that baby some slack. There are flashbulbs going off in her face; she is bound to react and not necessarily in a flattering way. I took pics of my baby niece and the flash made her eyes bug and cross, and trust me, my niece is an absolute doll. It would’ve served Suri well to have a blanket shielding her from the lights.

It’s unfortunate that the parents got upset, but the administrators were the ones who authorized access to the movie crew. The administrators should have an idea whether allowing this would bend these parents out of shape.

All I can say is ‘Awww…’ Then again, it’s typical of BP to keep baby necessities within reach. Remember last year when he had Zahara in his arms and her baby bottle in his back pocket?

Angelina is thin but not as much as she was around the time when she did Gia..cut her hair really shot and once did a photoshot in which she was wearing some earth-tone dress or the background was “granite”…can’t remember…

Right now, I think filming was hectic and since this is her first time as a feeding mom and working mom..I think we should cut her some slack.

I am sure the reason children and women and whoever else were “pushed” out of the way by Angelina’s bodygaurds was because THEY WOULDN’T MOVE OUT OF THE WAY! They just stand there. In the West, people like their personal space. In India, there is no such thing. in India, people stare at you and stand in your way and stay close to you, as if there is nothing wrong with it. Not ALL people in India probably do that. But in a way you can look at it as a non-prejudice thing whereas Westerners are a little more prejudice. In the West, people will keep their distance from you and by cultural mannerisms will avoid staring at you, mostly the more polite ones. The ones who lack any smarts at all won’t do that (and I mean in the West). And, trust me, I know, because when I go to Beverly Hills, I’m ok and can go about my business. But when I go to Hollywood, people are all up in my face.

I know Angelina doens’t give a **** of what people think of her, but when things like this happen I wish she had a kick ass publicist.
