Angelina Jolie spoke to the media in Mumbai yesterday during a press conference to talk about her shooting experience in India for A Mighty Heart. She clarified that she and Brad Pitt have no plans to adopt an Indian baby. Read the full article after the jump but here what Angelina said on the importance of this film: “We need to tell the story of Daniel Pearl and the reason we are making this film is because it’s very important to have a dialogue between the two cultures. I have the blessings of Daniel Pearl’s family to play this role.”

Angelina Scorches Indian Baby Rumors
It was an unusual start to an eagerly awaited press conference. Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie, who evidently kept her role as ambassador in mind at her first encounter with the Indian press on Wednesday evening, began with a confession.
“We have been avoiding the press since we landed in India, but the only reason was that we had a lot of work to do,”she said.
Jolie arrived at the conference in a white linen ensemble. Flanked by co-stars of the film, A Mighty Heart, her humble confession was followed with a terse rider: please ask questions pertaining to the film only.
The only personal query she allowed was one that enabled her to clear the air about rumours of her adopting again. No, Brangelina won’t be adding an Indian baby to their brood after all.
The evening began with the usual banter between her management team and the press. The ’screening’ of journalists took an inordinately long time, with some being asked to stay out of the conference.
For those who did eventually make it to the Princess room at the Taj, there was disappointment in store: producer Brad Pitt had decided to stay away. Was it to mind the babies? No one knows.
The actress insisted that A Mighty Heart was not about terrorism. “We need to tell the story of Daniel Pearl, and the reason we are making this film is because it is very important to have a dialogue between two cultures,”she said. “I had the blessings of Daniel Pearl’s family to play this role.”
When asked if Marianne Pearl was the most difficult character she had played in her career, the actress replied, “When you are in the middle of making a film, you always think that way.
Playing her role is certainly challenging for me, as I have to make the world understand this woman and her family.”
Jolie said that though she knew Marianne personally, she had never met anybody who had faced this kind of trauma.
“She has every reason to be embittered and angry about what happened to her husband and her, but she is very positive and has nothing against Pakistan,”she declared. Did Marianne visit the shooting or want to see rushes of the film? “She is not interested,”replied Jolie.
“She has been travelling around the world, writing on women’s issues.”
Indian actor Irrfan said that he had expected to get intimidated by the star but she went out of her way to make him comfortable.
“She has a very strong personality and it comes across,”said the actor who referred to Jolie as “Angie”during the conference.
And finally, Jolie’s take on Mumbai’s infamous suburban trains. When asked how her much-publicised ride on a local was, she replied straight-faced, “It was fun.”

I was just surfing on d-listed, and man, those posters are so mean-spirited. There was this new poster who complained that he/she tried to post on Just Jared, and got tired because his/her comments were always “awaiting moderation” — thank heavens that Jared has his moderation tool — otherwise that poster would have spread his/her bile in here — that’s the last thing we need, another poster like ritzygal, jen, vanessa and all those other vile posters.
Brad and Angie have withstood all the meannesses that were thrown their way, and have been together all this time. That will make their bond stronger. No matter how the haters have tried to pull them down, their love for each other will survive the test of time. They complete each other.

I KNEW SOMEONE WOULD SAY THAT! (If you’re really Indian…) I was expecting someone like you to come along…
Indians also try to copy certain sayings from Americans, like “all that jazz” and so forth because like most Indians in America glued to their TVs, Indians in India (who can afford it) are hooked to popular culture in the western world. Sometimes, some of them are misguided by the popular culture in the Western world. Same goes for the Middle Eastern areas as well. It’s like some of them try to prove they’re not so “third world”. Actually, that’s wrong of me to say. It’s more like us Westerners are so caught off gaurd by their knowledge of our culture that it seems odd when they do act and sound like Westerners. But to them, it’s normal. They don’t try to be like Westerners. It’s just that the Western culture has been so embedded in certain parts of India that it’s normal to be ‘Western’ yet be mistaken for being some Hindi speaking, non-English speaking, dumb Indian. They’re smarter and more modernized than you think, people.

Anjali - no need to worry, we understand as some of here are from non-Western countries living here in the USA. We have friends that are Indian and grew up with them in the Africa, UK, Dubai and other Middle East countries. We KNOW people from India.
Personally, there are alot of issues at play here that I dont really want to get into. Coming from a non-western society I get the idea. Not all of it. Some of it.

I just saw the Indian news and the ticker on the bottom of the screen mentioned two thing.
Angelina’s bodygaurd “Mike” was arrested and apparantely Angelina made a statement saying that the media was at fault for the mess that took place at the school.
That’s all I read. Let me see if I can find out some more info.
Please - don’t start taking this as a fact ..because I want to be entirely sure ..but when I first read the ticker, it took me a while to register in my mind what I was reading. BRB.

Damn good post. I think even some of his family in Missouri was got caught up in the image he was supposed to rep. They shined on some things that have become glarenfreakinly clear to them about who BP has ALWAYS been. This is the cat he hopped in his ride credits shy of getting his college diploma! Madonna - who has sparked controversy after adopting a Malawian baby called David - trivialized Angelina’s role as a UN Goodwill Ambassador.

I saw three bodygaurds on the news going into some kind police headquarters place. They were not in handcuffs or being pushed around. They casually walked inside. I saw Mickey, the other one who is blond and tall, and one other guy. That’s all they reported.

Keep us posted. I want to know if Mickey and the other bodyguards were arrested, because from the video that I have seen they were not involved at all.
How I wish Brad and Angie would come home soon. The longer they stay, the more I worry that something else is going to happen. Maybe they can finish the shoots on a sound stage, or areas here in the U.S. or Canada which have predominantly Indian/Pakistani communities. Anything to get them out of there!!!
Those arrested were identified as Thomas Mcadam (47), Robert Patrick (35) and Michael John Brett (50); all British nationals. The three are likely to be produced at Killa Court later on Friday.

Angelah - I know how you feel. Just have patience. It’s morning in India so this is breaking news. That’s all the info I got.
You guys know more about Angelina than I do. Is it true? Is she really pregnant again, as reported by InTouch mag? They said word is going around in India that she is. She’s wearing black, baggy shirts and stuff. I don’t believe InTouch most of the time, but they got it right when she was pregnant with Shiloh.
This is not good. Brad and Angelina need to get out of India NOW. Forget about this movie.
