Angelina Jolie’s Signature Smile
Angelina Jolie spoke to the media in Mumbai yesterday during a press conference to talk about her shooting experience in India for A Mighty Heart. She clarified that she and Brad Pitt have no plans to adopt an Indian baby. Read the full article after the jump but here what Angelina said on the importance of this film: “We need to tell the story of Daniel Pearl and the reason we are making this film is because it’s very important to have a dialogue between the two cultures. I have the blessings of Daniel Pearl’s family to play this role.”
UPDATE :: Added more pictures of Angelina Jolie in sandalas and carrying a brown leather bag on the set of A Mighty Heart from earlier today. Angie was spotted leaving the Anjuman-e-Islam school in Mumbai, India.
Angelina Scorches Indian Baby Rumors
It was an unusual start to an eagerly awaited press conference. Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie, who evidently kept her role as ambassador in mind at her first encounter with the Indian press on Wednesday evening, began with a confession.
“We have been avoiding the press since we landed in India, but the only reason was that we had a lot of work to do,”she said.
Jolie arrived at the conference in a white linen ensemble. Flanked by co-stars of the film, A Mighty Heart, her humble confession was followed with a terse rider: please ask questions pertaining to the film only.
The only personal query she allowed was one that enabled her to clear the air about rumours of her adopting again. No, Brangelina won’t be adding an Indian baby to their brood after all.
The evening began with the usual banter between her management team and the press. The ’screening’ of journalists took an inordinately long time, with some being asked to stay out of the conference.
For those who did eventually make it to the Princess room at the Taj, there was disappointment in store: producer Brad Pitt had decided to stay away. Was it to mind the babies? No one knows.
The actress insisted that A Mighty Heart was not about terrorism. “We need to tell the story of Daniel Pearl, and the reason we are making this film is because it is very important to have a dialogue between two cultures,”she said. “I had the blessings of Daniel Pearl’s family to play this role.”
When asked if Marianne Pearl was the most difficult character she had played in her career, the actress replied, “When you are in the middle of making a film, you always think that way.
Playing her role is certainly challenging for me, as I have to make the world understand this woman and her family.”
Jolie said that though she knew Marianne personally, she had never met anybody who had faced this kind of trauma.
“She has every reason to be embittered and angry about what happened to her husband and her, but she is very positive and has nothing against Pakistan,”she declared. Did Marianne visit the shooting or want to see rushes of the film? “She is not interested,”replied Jolie.
“She has been travelling around the world, writing on women’s issues.”
Indian actor Irrfan said that he had expected to get intimidated by the star but she went out of her way to make him comfortable.
“She has a very strong personality and it comes across,”said the actor who referred to Jolie as “Angie”during the conference.
And finally, Jolie’s take on Mumbai’s infamous suburban trains. When asked how her much-publicised ride on a local was, she replied straight-faced, “It was fun.”

Angelina Jolie’s Bodyguards Cause School Fracas in India
Bodyguards protecting Angelina Jolie have been accused of “roughing up” children and parents at an Indian school during shooting for new movie A Mighty Heart. Filming went smoothly today until the gates at the Anjuman-e-Islam school in Mumbai were opened to allow parents to collect their children.
Mohammed Yusuf Patni, general secretary of the school’s Parent Teacher Association, says, “Jolie’s bodyguard called one parent, ‘You bloody Indian.’ Children were pushed around. Mothers were also shoved aside by the guards.”
But a spokesperson for British production company Dallington TV, which organized the school shoot, insists the blame lies with paparazzi and television crews who rushed through the open gates to get close to Jolie.
A statement reads, “We had the full permission and cooperation of the school to film on the premises. When the gates were opened to allow the parents in to collect their children, the paparazzi rushed the school causing confusion.”
This is not the first time security staff protecting Jolie, Brad Pitt and their three children have caused controversy since their arrival in India last month. An Associated Press photographer claimed he was punched and threatened with a gun on the “A Mighty Heart” set last month, and another photographer was allegedly attacked outside Jolie’s hotel in Pune just days earlier.
I can hear all the snarkiness now all over the internet. The naysayers will have a field day. I wonder how the Zen Master and Mistress will deal with this.

OMG, this is bad and I am really pissed as well. I really hope that everything works out for them, this is the charges that I read on Yahoo regarding the three bodyguards:
Senior Mumbai police official Brajesh Singh told the BBC that the three bodyguards had been charged with “insult to religion and threatening to kill”.
Good night ladies, I guess we will know more tomorrow
damn I just got back from perez and there was a clip of a student handcuffed already and still tasered by the campus securities..wth!
When Tom Cruise shot his film in Shanghai and Soochow.another congested city like India. there were big crowd watching them but at a distance and were fully control by the authority. The goverment of Shanghai totally cooperate with the production co. nothing happen like Angie and Brad’s going in India. If India want to attract foreign film makers, they should do something on it. no wonder “Alexander” back out from shooting in India.
I don’t blame the bodyguard when the crowd was totally sticking their face on your client. look at the splash video. even the local police seems helpless. what if there were some crazy person in the crowd. Remember the 2 Gandhi’s ,Indira and his son were massacred in broad daylight while campaigning .
not good
Just a query to Amaya;
Why is Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart always discussed in Brad and Aneglina thread?
I know you are obsessed with them, and I also like them, but its really annoying that you spend so much time talking about them in every Brad and Angelina thread. I find it rather silly that you always relate and note down similarities bet Jon and Angelina or bet Stephen Angelina.
I think its ok to talk about them once in a while but its seems its always the case and not many Brad and Angie fans i suppose can relate.
Sorry but no offence meant, byt maybe you can ask Jared to post pics of Jon or Stewart so that you and other people can discuss them separately.
Please Please Please Angelina have a private meeting with the parents.
Release a statement to the press.
Then LEAVE INDIA and never do another film there. Maybe go on vacation on some island until you have to promote TGS.
Also you need to think about whether Mickey is an overall postive or negative in how you want to be represented. You can’t be working for the UN and have your bodyguards pushing people around.
This isn’t good news, but I still don’t buy it. The video shows something completely else and until further news comes out, I’ll remain skeptical.
It just sounds rather unlikely to me that grown men would abuse women and children. I think those are rather strong allegations and I really want to hear the evidence they had that they did this.
When Mickey “abused” the photog, there was footage. I find it strange that in the sea of paparrazi covering this incident, not one got any footage of Jolie’s men abusing anyone.
Of course the haters will run with this, but who cares. I’m of the belief the truth will come out in the wash.
However, if I was film crew I’d never film anything in India again.
Yup something about this story seems strange, those are her 3 main bodyguards , who are with her all the time, where is the footage, because the footage on splash news does not show those bodyguards, I don’t think Brad is in Mumbai, I hope she has security , cause at this point , I don’t trust anyone. I find this whole story suspect, Angie an Brad need to leave India ASAP. And the fact that this is a muslim school, scares the **** out of me, They need to find another place to shoot.
First of all I am not any aniston fan who would post hate here to get some cheap thrill…Second of all yes I am an Indian…
The video you all are talking about is after the entire fracas broke out! Like I said we do not have the aggressive paparazzi like out there so you will not have actual footage of the entire incident. The bodyguards are not in the videos you mentioned because this was after they abused the parents so obviously they would be agitated. I don’t really care what you think of my intentions of posting in here, I did it because I genuinely was disappointed by the behaviour of the people that surround Jolie. Sorry if it seemed like I targetted her, but I never intended to do that, but I do believe in some ways she is responsible for her body guards. She can caution them against such behaviour. Now that they have been arrested you have some decided to turn against India and the media, yesterday all of you went on and on about how there was no complaint so this in not true..
There have been so many people accusing me in here I am not sure who told what. But yes I will clarify whatever I made was not fabricated, they are from interviews of parents shown on the T.V. I choose to believe my people, I don’t think they will get any mileage of trying to blame Jolie’e bodyguards. So I still stand by my opinion that what the body guards did to those parents and kids was sick. Did someone say Bloody Indian wasnt racist? It should have been Bloody Brownie?? Really sad that you would be ok if someone came to your part of the world and threatened you with words Bloody whatever….We don’t use it as a slang here, for us it is an insult. I still clarify I am not a Jolie hater or anyone you all think I was earlier. I am and still her fan but yes it is upsetting when incidents like that occur…
And I certainlly do not think you need to bash INDIA for my post. Please do not generalise about a country here, something you all know nothing about. Yes it has its poverty, yes it has its own economic issues but they are all a ripple effect and to know why, how and when then please read history. Just coz a country looks less developed than any other nation in which you all live does not give you the right to bash it for whatever reasons. No one was bashing Jolie at all here, yes I would ranting against her bodyguards because its sick to say things like that and to treat young kids like that. Please do not refer to the video once again that is after the incident took place, unfortunately i cannot loads the indian clips here…
Anyways all of you seem to just want to bash up a nation or a certain individual just for voicing their opinion and I think that it is not fair. Also I would appreciate it if the so called NRI’s stop psycho analysing India or its people. There are a few people here though who understood what I was trying to convey and not just bashing anything and everything they could find in their way. Let the investigations go on, but I firmly believe that those parents have not lied coz they would not get anything out of it! And I still maintain I am no ANGIE hater, I have always admired her, but I am not blind to anything wrong that happens. You all are entitled to feel whatever you please and I respect that you love and adore her so much. Bash me as much as you want, I don’t care but I would appreciate it if you would not portray my country in negative light by generalising about incidents that occur once a while.
India is just not all trash as you all put it here, its not just all about poor people or mind boggling logistics its also about culture, peace, kindness and love. Maybe you all should experience it yourself. Just like every country has its ups and downs so does INDIA.
It is my request that you stop bashing a country because of a few incidents, you can continue speculating who I am or how pathetic my views are, just stop with the INDIA HATE!

Don’t you think you are just being biased and judgmental with that statement? Not all are the same!
This has become a media circus. Even if Brad and Angelina will drop off the face of the earth right this moment, the paps will still follow them come hell or high water. This is totally out of control. I haven’t seen anything like this since, well.. never. I heard Costa Rica is a really nice place to unwind… how about it Brad and Ange?
There are some religious extremists out there who would pounce on this excuse to create a personal vendetta with AJ, based solely on the fact of “unsubstantiated allegations of racial/religious slurs heaped upon by her bodyguards”, I repeat “unsubstantiated allegations” and until I see with my eyes footage of this so called “slurs” I won’t credit anything the media says.
Regarding Colbert/Stewart, I don’t particularly know these guys as I live in another continent that isn’t that familiar with american talk show hosts, I don’t mind Amaya sometimes dragging in a few commentaries about them here on this thread. We do sometimes discuss things here that are totally out of topic. Maybe we can just ask Amaya to put an OFF TOPIC:COLBERT/STEWART headline to her comments so that whoever does not want to be bothered reading with them can just skip her posts.
No, I truly believe that Karishma is an Indian from India, living in India. I am Indian-American and by how Karishma was speaking in the post, the grammar was exactly like how Indians speak English sometimes from India. Not perfect, but different from other imperfect grammar. Asian people have that too. Same with Europeans. Same with certain people from different areas of America. Karishma was defintely from India.
****************************************************************
With all due respect Anjali- this is the most pretentious **** I have ever read. “Not perfect, but different from other imperfect grammar. Asian people have that too. Same with Europeans” I am european - Indian, and like most europeans speak the queens english - (Which is english from the country england!!) How dare you talk down on people purely because they are not from america? This is exactly the values and priniciples that Angie and Brad fight against and I quote when their daughter Z was adopted and Shiloh were born they made the comment ” How sad it is that life has to be dictated by where you were born” Angleina dn Brad are not just about their hollywood good looks and appeal - and I am hoping that people on this forum are not only embracing that part of their lifes but also their values, priniciples and what they stand for in order to make this a world an equal, fair and better place to live in.
The local counterpart in INDIA has a very big responsibility to keep order. It seems that they have failed. They were hired to coordinate and manage the local operations. They did a very bad job. Brad and Angie get out of India now.
Relax guys, the 3 were not arrested, they were not handcuffed, I suppose they voluntarily went to the police station to explain their side. the media are sensationalizing the situation and reporting it as arrest to the detriment of Brad and Angie’s camp. The local media has a grudge against them as they are not too accessible to them. Im sure the local producers of AMH will help them sort out the problem. I just hope people in the board should reliaze that Brad and Angie and their people would know how the handle the situation and they have local tie ups in India that would help them. They know better what to do than anyone of us posters, i just find it hilarious that people would suggest for them to leave the place immediately. Im sure they are assessing the situation and would take action appropriately. What really frustrating is how the local media is reporting the situation, Im sure brad And Angie and their people are equally frustrated.
With regards to Amaya’s Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert obsession in a B & A thread, I too, find it irrelevant and somewhat annoying. I hope she can at least minimize comments about them.

Hi PI. Kumusta si ikaw? Hello to all the Noypis. I’ve been skimming the threads so I’m not sure if Ate Char has posted. Hope everything is well with you magandang lola.
I agree. Unknown extremists whose waiting to pounce to make a name for themselves will use this incident to further their agenda.
Karishma, from reading your posts it seemed you already have made up your mind before anyone can defend themselves. We are not absolving anyone here, least of all angelina’s bodyguard IF IT IS TRUE. Give us more credit than that. From your first post on this thread you accused Angelina, yes it’s ANGELINA, your words not mine. You accused her of everything, from being a hypocrite to being the perpetuator of every crimes in the world so it seems.
If you are indeed a fan of her (as am I) you would know she wouldn’t condone these things. If there is one thing Angelina’s known of, it’s about her cultural/racial and religious respect for everyone. Karishma your problem is you go here with all your guns blazing without checking out fact first and hearing Angelina’s and her bodyguards sides. And everyone involved there. You fire first and ask questions later.
Your perception of being discriminated upon and religiously maligned is clouding rational thinking. I’m from a poor nation too so I know how it is to be judged based solely on the color of your skin, the slant of your eyes and the country imbedded on your passport. Believe me I have been there. So please no need to agitate everyone here and their dogs on how what’s happening in India right now is an injustice to the world. Please let us hear both sides, all sides if possible and we will make up our mind from there. If you have been in this site long enough, you will know that no one can bully anyone to believe someone else’s point of view.
Let’s hope everything will iron out soon. :)
Let’s hope for the best for the AMH team!!
Wishing Angie and the family well !!
Malaya, hello how’s cebu?? I’m on leave right now, I was planning on going to cebu but drats, somthings come up. Anyway maybe next year, I have never been to cebu yet. A few months back my sister went there and to bohol and all she ever dragged back is a big box of “dangit”. So I’m really looking forward to going there, maybe I can bring back different sort of “fish” lol.
It seems that there is an obvious agenda to create (imagined) chaos. I can smell one. There are just so many incidents that cannot be simply ignored. Call it paranoia or whatever, but apparently India is not the best place to shoot the movie.
That school location can easily be recreated at other places with out all the headaches. Try Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia or a Hollywood studio for other locations.
A Mighty Heart is a very controversial film to make. Daniel Pearl was murdered in Pakistan. And there is so much animosity between India and Pakistan. Try a place that does not add further complication to the situation.

ITAWU!!!
You said it so well so I have nothing to add. There is a difference in treatment even among Asians. I felt that recently in one of the Asian airports enroute to another Asian city. I was treated differently when they saw my passport. But you learn to get thick skinned and you learn to just let it pass.
