Angelina Jolie spoke to the media in Mumbai yesterday during a press conference to talk about her shooting experience in India for A Mighty Heart. She clarified that she and Brad Pitt have no plans to adopt an Indian baby. I have the blessings of Daniel Pearl’s family to play this role.”

Angelina Scorches Indian Baby Rumors
It was an unusual start to an eagerly awaited press conference. Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie, who evidently kept her role as ambassador in mind at her first encounter with the Indian press on Wednesday evening, began with a confession.
“We have been avoiding the press since we landed in India, but the only reason was that we had a lot of work to do,”she said.
Jolie arrived at the conference in a white linen ensemble. Flanked by co-stars of the film, A Mighty Heart, her humble confession was followed with a terse rider: please ask questions pertaining to the film only.
The only personal query she allowed was one that enabled her to clear the air about rumours of her adopting again. No, Brangelina won’t be adding an Indian baby to their brood after all.
The evening began with the usual banter between her management team and the press. The ’screening’ of journalists took an inordinately long time, with some being asked to stay out of the conference.
For those who did eventually make it to the Princess room at the Taj, there was disappointment in store: producer Brad Pitt had decided to stay away. Was it to mind the babies? No one knows.
The actress insisted that A Mighty Heart was not about terrorism. “We need to tell the story of Daniel Pearl, and the reason we are making this film is because it is very important to have a dialogue between two cultures,”she said. “I had the blessings of Daniel Pearl’s family to play this role.”
When asked if Marianne Pearl was the most difficult character she had played in her career, the actress replied, “When you are in the middle of making a film, you always think that way.
Playing her role is certainly challenging for me, as I have to make the world understand this woman and her family.”
Jolie said that though she knew Marianne personally, she had never met anybody who had faced this kind of trauma.
“She has every reason to be embittered and angry about what happened to her husband and her, but she is very positive and has nothing against Pakistan,”she declared. Did Marianne visit the shooting or want to see rushes of the film? “She is not interested,”replied Jolie.
“She has been travelling around the world, writing on women’s issues.”
Indian actor Irrfan said that he had expected to get intimidated by the star but she went out of her way to make him comfortable.
“She has a very strong personality and it comes across,”said the actor who referred to Jolie as “Angie”during the conference.
And finally, Jolie’s take on Mumbai’s infamous suburban trains. When asked how her much-publicised ride on a local was, she replied straight-faced, “It was fun.”

why not? they aren’t under arrest. Brad went to the US. but I really doubt they were going in the first place they don’t need any more paparazzi or drama

They did after all get proper approval to use the school, and I dont think Brad would have imagined that paps would storm in at the time parents were picking up their children..causing all that mayhem. Or that perhaps some parents might have another agenda.
Please, tell me that they are leaving first thing tomorrow.

Thats what a coward would do. The Mick is like family to Angie and has been with her since she got her Maddox. He have been with her through much good bad and damn ugly. You dont cut and run on your family or frien at least I dont or wouldnt.

Jolie’s bodyguards arrested, Pitt apologises to police chief
MUMBAI, NOV 17 (PTI)
Three bodyguards of top Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie were arrested here today on the charge of manhandling people, an incident for which her companion Brad Pitt subsequently apologised to the police.
The three bodyguards — Thomas Edward Mcadams, Robert Patrick Donne and Michael John Bretti — were later granted bail by a local court. They were arrested on charges of criminal intimidation and passing racial slurs.
The incident occurred yesterday during the shooting at a school in south Mumbai of Jolie’s film “A Mighty Heart”, which is being produced by Pitt.
After Pitt and actor Irfan Khan, who also appears in the film, called on him, Police Commissioner A N Roy said, “They had come to apologise. They clarified that causing any hurt to people’s sentiments was not the intention of the bodyguards.
“I’ve asked him (Pitt) to speak to the media which he will be doing shortly.”
Roy said the film crew had not obtained permission to shoot at Badruddin Tyebji High School from police, “due to which yesterday’s incident occurred”.
Ten parents and two mediapersons had complained to police that they were abused and manhandled by Jolie’s bodyguards.
Roy said his force had provided security to the film unit wherever it had asked permission to shoot. Yesterday’s incident is being thoroughly investigated, he added.
To a query whether police would provide extra security to the Hollywood couple, Roy said, “They have not asked for any such thing and the question does not arise.”
DCP (Zone I) Brijesh Singh told PTI, “Henceforth, we will not allow them to shoot at locations where permission has not been sought to avoid such incidents.” (More)

I still do not believe that any racial slur was used. Brad and Angelina will not stand for it. You can not go out of your comfort zone to work for the betterment of the disenfranchised in a the far flung corners of the earth if you have racist tendencies.
Brad and Angie did not adopt their multi racial children, or do the work they do in Africa and Asia because their religion demanded it or that there is a pay back, they do it because they geniunely care about people, and my bu*lsh*t radar is pretty good.
I hope they do not appologize for what they did not do, and for all those with their, it is your problem.
I hate that they get subjected to this all the time, and the irony is that if they had decided not to help out around the world, they will not have this much grief.
I am happy Angie gave the press conference before all these happened, if she had given it after, the shitzy and lainey’s out there will spin it as damage control.

ME, in these no win situations, taking the big road is the only road. It might go against yours or my belief systems but this is the only road for angelina and brad. As ultimately, this will simply endorse their good intentions and lack of egosim which is so evident with other stars.

I agree Brad has always been a stand up guy, but 4-5 years ago, Brad would not have been in such a complex political/social situation. He was more contained within Hollywood and it’s environs. Now that he has really put himself out there in the world, we are really seeing how much integrity he has. It was hard to tell before, because he didn’t open himself up to controversy like this. I think his moral fiber is just more visible since he has been with Angie, so people perceive that there’s an “old” or “new” Brad, when really he was the same along. It’s all about how a person reacts to whatever situation they are in. If they are in LA, it’s one set of behaviors. If they are in India dealing with irate Muslims, it’s another, but the person, Brad, is the same.

as for them not leaving india because of the incident–brad & angie aren’t under arrest, but their bodyguards are. i doubt they would leave them there to fend for themselves as they are in the jolie-pitt’s employ. brad showing up at the police station says a lot about his sense of responsibility and his regard for the people who protect him and his family.
“they shoot this, there will be problem”. an Indian guy, presumably a parent, said that in the video. Maybe I’m being paranoid, but that statement really bugs me.

Thanks, Indie! And you are right, that Angie and Brad are the last Hollywood couple to accuse of racism. Just the fact that they are willing to put themselves out as citizens of the world just opens them up to all this controversy, but the alternative is to, just…..stay home in LA, and you know they don’t want to do that. They already know what a shallow, hollow existence that can be.
So, this isn’t the first bump in the road for them, and it won’t be the last, but if they continue going the way they have, it will be one more thing that cements their ever-deepening bond to each other. Hey, it keeps me interested, anyway.

Following the arrest of three of Angelina Jolie’s bodyguards for allegedly roughing up parents at a school in India, the actress has spoken out about the incident.
“It is not surprising that the press involved failed to mention their share of the responsibility in the chaos,” Jolie said in a statement.
According to Reuters, Indian police detained three of the actress’s bodyguards on Friday after parents complained the men had manhandled them and their children at an Islamic school in Mumbai where Jolie was filming a scene for A Mighty Heart.
Mohammed Yusuf Patni, general secretary of the Anjuman-e-Islam school’s Parent Teacher Association, told the Associated Press, “This Jolie’s bodyguard called one parent, ‘You bloody Indian.’ ”
In her statement, Jolie said, “As for this horrible rumor that someone referred to a local man as a ‘bloody Indian,’ let me say this: I would never work with anyone that was derogatory towards another man’s race. My family is of mixed race.”
According to reports, the fracas took place as parents tried to get into the school to pick up their children on Thursday and guards tried to keep paparazzi out.
“We have arrested three people. They are in jail now and will be produced in court,” Brajesh Singh, Mumbai’s deputy commissioner of police, told Reuters. He did not give a date for the court hearing.

I’m not saying this to be rude, but I really wish people would check the dates on things before they post stories here. In this instance TWO long stories. The other day it was that stupid psychic story from 2 months ago, today it’s TGS reviews from 4 months ago.These threads are long enough without repeated postings of old stories. Links are sufficient when the stories or information you’re passing on is several months old.
