Angelina Jolie’s Signature Smile
Angelina Jolie spoke to the media in Mumbai yesterday during a press conference to talk about her shooting experience in India for A Mighty Heart. She clarified that she and Brad Pitt have no plans to adopt an Indian baby. Read the full article after the jump but here what Angelina said on the importance of this film: “We need to tell the story of Daniel Pearl and the reason we are making this film is because it’s very important to have a dialogue between the two cultures. I have the blessings of Daniel Pearl’s family to play this role.”
UPDATE :: Added more pictures of Angelina Jolie in sandalas and carrying a brown leather bag on the set of A Mighty Heart from earlier today. Angie was spotted leaving the Anjuman-e-Islam school in Mumbai, India.
Angelina Scorches Indian Baby Rumors
It was an unusual start to an eagerly awaited press conference. Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie, who evidently kept her role as ambassador in mind at her first encounter with the Indian press on Wednesday evening, began with a confession.
“We have been avoiding the press since we landed in India, but the only reason was that we had a lot of work to do,”she said.
Jolie arrived at the conference in a white linen ensemble. Flanked by co-stars of the film, A Mighty Heart, her humble confession was followed with a terse rider: please ask questions pertaining to the film only.
The only personal query she allowed was one that enabled her to clear the air about rumours of her adopting again. No, Brangelina won’t be adding an Indian baby to their brood after all.
The evening began with the usual banter between her management team and the press. The ’screening’ of journalists took an inordinately long time, with some being asked to stay out of the conference.
For those who did eventually make it to the Princess room at the Taj, there was disappointment in store: producer Brad Pitt had decided to stay away. Was it to mind the babies? No one knows.
The actress insisted that A Mighty Heart was not about terrorism. “We need to tell the story of Daniel Pearl, and the reason we are making this film is because it is very important to have a dialogue between two cultures,”she said. “I had the blessings of Daniel Pearl’s family to play this role.”
When asked if Marianne Pearl was the most difficult character she had played in her career, the actress replied, “When you are in the middle of making a film, you always think that way.
Playing her role is certainly challenging for me, as I have to make the world understand this woman and her family.”
Jolie said that though she knew Marianne personally, she had never met anybody who had faced this kind of trauma.
“She has every reason to be embittered and angry about what happened to her husband and her, but she is very positive and has nothing against Pakistan,”she declared. Did Marianne visit the shooting or want to see rushes of the film? “She is not interested,”replied Jolie.
“She has been travelling around the world, writing on women’s issues.”
Indian actor Irrfan said that he had expected to get intimidated by the star but she went out of her way to make him comfortable.
“She has a very strong personality and it comes across,”said the actor who referred to Jolie as “Angie”during the conference.
And finally, Jolie’s take on Mumbai’s infamous suburban trains. When asked how her much-publicised ride on a local was, she replied straight-faced, “It was fun.”

Jared your threads are always so entertaining to read, I’m not a fan of no one. So I wonder if you did some kind of casting call for all the Brangelina worshippers. It amuses me to read how many here worship a couple they have never met and don’t know personaly. It’s almost too scary!! I like Angie but reading comments from these crazy posters make her stories always seem weird. Get a life or an education people, if you where to tell those around you what stupid comments you post I’m sure they will think ya’ll are crazy. Brangelina’s fans are crazier than Tom himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanx for the link Iloved it specially Sir Hotness outside in the midst of the fans, probably signing autograph, congenial as always. He could’ve stayed in the car. Hardly the kind of people that would tolerate the abuse of women and children.
*sigh*
ann, you don’t have to read. Make you days better doing something else instead of complaining.
So great to see Angie smiling again! It’s been awhile since i see her this carefree. Love love her! =)
tabloids,
You just beat me to it. I had typed something similar to what you posted (re Karishma claiming to be a fan of Angie’s, yet this is the first time I’ve seen her post) and yet she was willing to hang her despite the fact that the story has yet to be proven true? Demanding an apology when we don’t know yet what the real story is! And even though there were interviews, who knows if those interviews have not been slanted or biased or even just hearsay. You know how people can get excited over being interviewed by the meida and just say anything that they have been prompted to say!
I love Angie! Her straightforwardness and genuine personality certainly shine through… I would love for Ange and Brad to attend TomKats wedding- Love to see Brangelina steal TonKat’s thunder… especially when Ange shows up looking more beautiful/gorgeous than the stepford bride! ( and every other female celeb in attendance!)
bless you jared! there is a special place in BAMZS heaven reserved only for you and audrey :)
it should be a crime to be as lovely as angelina. oh wait, it kinda is considering the crap she has to endure from the media on a daily basis. i wouldn’t blame the jolie-pitts if they bought their own island and stationed battleships around it to keep the riff raff papparrazzi out. but, it’s a pretty safe bet that won’t happen. until then they’ll have to live with being blamed for every incident within 20 miles of them until the world gets bored of using their names for publicity.
@tabloids
I dont post here always coz its weird to react to all that crap they dish out in here..Whoever hates whoever…This time I commented coz being an Angie fan it was extremely disappointing that it came from her camp…Thats all….As far as reacting to aniston fans its not worth it, it just shows how sick they are!
@ maniston…
What she can do? Ask those morons to apologise…Like I said I didnt say she did it but she can ask them to stop it or apologise to those parents right?
Well thats my last post in here, I dont think I am gng to say anything more on this for I know people are ok if someone abuses another country or another faith…But jst being her fan and being a part of the culture that was exposed to it today I am really disappointed..
Oh yeah and Im sorry all of you in here are right and true angie fans!!
Sorry to have written anything at all……..
truth, Truth is what I said. Some of you sound like you where just released from a mental Hospital, and all you had in there was Brangelina news. I like this family but the crazy obsession should be left to the psychopaths!
Yeeeeah “my” Angie is back.
She looks so fresh, so young, so sweet.
Remeber Perez is gay so “s l u t”, as he calls Angelina, is a term of endearment. LOL!! He lovers her. I wonder where Angelina rates in the gay world. Hmmm…I’m gonna do some asking around.
BBL
Hi people!!!
She looks so happy and I’m happy for her. :)
Do you think eating @ McDo made her smile like that?!!! hahaha just kidding! :)
Thanks Jared!
Perez is not a hater.
Good morning everyone! Thank you Jared and Audrey for the new thread! Angie looks great! Love to see her smile but I’m sure she does that a lot at home! hehehe. I love how Brad stays away so she could have her space like that. I love this couple. They support each other but not in your face kind of way. I think they might be going to the wedding after all. Oprah didn’t get invited. I wonder if that is because they are going? What do you guys and gals think? Have a great day everyone!
was lurkig on Men’s Style forums and I found this great post re Jennifer Aniston’s Man of the Year GQ cover. I’ve always wanted a guy’s perspective on JA, and I think this sums it up:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ok. I’m a guy, you know, the base audiance of this magazine. I have to tell you Jennifer Aniston ain’t my idea of a woman with grace or whatever lame thing you gave her. She had one tired joke-”billy idol wants his hair back”, he’s -brad- is missing a “sensitivity chip.” That’s all. That was a sense of humor? Please, this is lame guys. Can’t anyone tell the difference between a bitter shot and a joke? You can do better than this. Is this Cosmo or GQ.? Leave this pitty party stuff to the ladies to fawn over and obssess about. Let them have their mags with the stupid and airheaded “you go jen ref.s’” In the future please spair us the women gossip-touchy feely ****. Do us that one tiny favor.
Don’t get me wrong. I ain’t mad at seeing a naked chick on a cover-little boney for my tastes but whatever-nice breast shot-wonder if they are real, like that matters
The problem I have is she isn’t different from any body else, so why all the fuss? She got a legal separation from pretty boy Brad-her choice. She filed for divorce-again her choice. She wollowed in pitty-her choice. She obsessed over her body-her choice. And she gave a lame interview where she and her sorority sisters slamed Brad. Which by the way was so freakin’ funny considering that I don’t think those chicks where in the bed with them when the lights went out-unless they were into that kind of thing-which is much more interesting to read about then this
Such a shame home girl wants to play the victim. Gotta say men do not find desperation attractive-unless we are in a club looking to score-oh, almost forgot, way to go VINCE V!. Rebound sex is the best sex you can have brother.
No one is reading this stuff, watching her on tv shows to see her doing well, they want to hear her gab on about her failed relationship. That’s all. She has nothing to offer them. Not that she’s not talented. It’s just that for now all she is to the world at large is a joke. A person to pitty till we are all blue in the face. You guys could have done better in getting a real choice for this title. She is no victim and she is no role model either.
If I had a choice, shame I don’t, I would have picked Angelina Jolie. Why? well isn’t it obvious? Hot ass woman that loves to help others and not wine like a baby about define me and oh don’t take my picture. I love a woman that knows when to speak and when to shut up. Jenn A. should take a page from her. News yrs resolution for her should be: “I must learn to be quite and stop boring people with my pitty part/moving on talk”
But hey, only one guys opinion, not like I help keep this mag. afloat with a subscription, oh wait I do.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
People who claim to be fans sure do jump to conclusions without knowing all the facts. They then proceed to go on a rant against AJ and bring up her children without knowing all the facts. Then you have others who come here and think they are above people who are fans and act all superior. They pretend that they just happen to find this site and wanted to check out all the fanatics. Whatever. I am a fan of AJ. I think that she is a good person and has a good heart. I support her in this Movie role and hope that they complete filming without any further incident.

So first you blame her. See below:
But today what happened in a MUMBAI school by Jolie and her bodyguards is disgusting and disappointing to say the least. For a woman who claims to want to understand faith and culture and a rainbow family and all that jazz today was involved in an incident which proves that she can be a HYPOCRITE!!
Then you say the blame falls on her bodyguards. See below:
Ok its her bodyguards who did all that, but what the heck does she mean by letting them get away with it..
Then you say she should apologise. See below.
Ask those morons to apologise…Like I said I didnt say she did it but she can ask them to stop it or apologise to those parents right?
So again, lets play devil’s advocate and say Angie’s bodyguards roughed up women and children. In your view Angie’s a hypocrite because she hasn’t apologized yet? So if she apologizes today or even tomorrow, she is no longer a hypocrite?
And for the record, I don’t think you’re a hater. I’m just trying to understand your logic.

I wish the posts here are numbered like they used to be. Reason: I’d refer to a post withouth having to refer to the poster’s name.
Without referring to the poster(s), then –
Please! Brad’s fans: Those nice smiles comes from her own personality, not from “Brad”! It’s mooshy to always drag him in when looking at her. I’m glad “Brad” was not at the
what the hell are you trying to say. Brad doesn’t make her Happy?
Frenchy so true
being a strait woman who has hung around gays a lot the guys call each other that as well, it’s like doin’ good’ getting what you want. with a little humoris
jealousy behind it. “Angie girl you ****”

Dont lie about your living in India. You are definitely not living nor growing up in India. I grew up in British Hong Kong. I can definitely recognize the language of British writing. You are out to defame Jolie.
Please read the following excerpts from cnn.com . The article clearly pointed out only 2 fathers complained. Note only 2. There will always be people who complain in anything. This is life. The most important thing is do NOT blow it out of proportion. Read the following excerpt from cnn.com :—-
“Unfortunately, our arrival was impeded by the paparazzi waiting at the gates of the school. When the gates were opened to allow the parents in to collect their children, the paparazzi rushed the school causing confusion.”
Police said no one had complained about the incident so far.
“If we get a complaint we will take suitable action,” police officer Brajesh Singh told Reuters.
Jennifer Aniston is the Queen of all Frauds, definitely NOT the girl next door unless you live in a $7 million mansion with another $10 million in upgrades, there is no friggin’ way Mrs. Pitt is gonna get Friend-ly with you.
Karishma -
I can understand your perspective and do believe if what was reported to have happened is true, the security should certainly be reprimanded/fired and apologize for their actions. That being said, it appears that in the mix of what happened there were also razzi’s and journalists that were not there to do anything but get a picture or story to sell to the tabloids. I think the ‘other’ side of the story some are alluding to is what part they played in causing the disruption that occurred. It states in the article that when the gate opened these reporters and razzi’s rushed the gate along with the parents. The issue I have is why would this school allow permission to shoot scenes for this movie when classes were in session? If the kids hadn’t been there, this incident could have been avoided. Hopefully, if complaints are filed the truth will be dicovered on all counts and necessary action can be taken.
I’m bringing these two posts form the last thread here because I think some will read only the bad accounts without getting a bit of others who’ve worked in India’s opinion too.

Good Morning all.
I have Deja Vu. That photo of Angelina on the cover of Maxim is an old one. It’s “done the rounds”. She’s looking goo if not “very maxim” on that cover.
Whoeve said that local production liasons in countries are resposible for any local shoots is correct. The failure of the local liaisons, who know local customs, protocol and the nature of day to day life has been magnified in this production. I don’t think it would have been like this in Pakistan. Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, South Africa, etc…all seem to have their ish together as far as film production. Anyhow, this incident will be seen for what it really was. Overblown like the other “incidents” reported with inaccuracies in the Indian tabloids and a failure of local productions teams.
Thanks to Tres Jolie of the fabulous photos of Angelina. Her natural hair color is growing in and looks more flattering than the goth black that she loves. She looks like a teenager!
Have a good day everyone.

As the names of Jolie & Pitt raised the profile of this film shoot, I wonder how other producers in Hollywood will now look at India.
I read before that Bollywood is keen on attracting Hollywood to shoot movies in India, but the news from the AMH shoot seems not be positive. Will the money savings justify the aggravation that the actors and crew have to go through?
^^
Lurking here a few mths back somebody put up this article about filming there and Im so happy it got saved.
Passage India rough for foreign filmmakers
Bharti Dubey
[ 23 Oct, 2006 0057hrs ISTTIMES NEWS NETWORK ]
MUMBAI: Two road accidents, numerous fisticuffs and schedules gone awry. These jottings in the Brangelina tour diary of Pune’s heat and dust say it all. Will the reel-life Mr and Mrs Smith ever return to India to shoot a film?
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may have realised by now why veteran Hollywood director Oliver Stone didn’t shoot his controversial movie ‘Alexander’ in India, despite his much-publicised reconnaissance trip.
They may even sympathise with the British crew who were not on talking terms with their Indian counterparts towards the completion of the Oscar-winner ‘Gandhi’ almost three decades back.
The truth is that Bollywood’s countryside is different from Planet Hollywood. Here, postponements are nothing out of the ordinary and laptops are alien to film sets. In contrast, Hollywood teams stick to schedules and juggle their production needs with computers. Stone flew out the moment he hit Indian red tape.
Worst, say actors who have been part of western filmmaking, there is a tendency to make a quick buck from unsuspecting foreign crews. When Hollywood actor Matt Damon and the ‘Bourne Identity’ crew came down for a shoot in Goa, they overshot the estimated budget by almost a double. Bollywood lore has it that room rates were overstated and so were local manpower costs. Hollywood teams depend on desi line producers, who keep accounts on paper unlike their Hollwood counterparts. Richard Attenborough’s ‘Gandhi’, too, had gone over budget.
Recalls a unit member of the film, “The total budget allotted that time was Rs 6.5 crore, but the amount was exhausted in making half the film.” Thankfully, the government of the day backed the project and the film was completed.
In hindsight, the unit member feels the British crew didn’t understand the Indian crew’s way of functioning, leading to costs spiralling. “But there is no denying the tension between the British and Indians. More often than not, they didn’t communicate with each other, which again affected the film,” he insists.
Twenty-four years later, the storyline is the same. The Indian line producers are still not able to handle the budgets allotted to them. Not surprisingly then, the Hollywood production ‘Marigold’, which boasts of an Indian star, has gone over budget.
India’s greatest defeat in this regard has been its failure to come up with efficient service providers a concept that has made countries like Thailand and South Korea a favourite with Hollywood. Service providers are literally people who hold the foreign crew’s hand through local paperwork and jargon.
In the absence of such professionals, Hollywood crew depend on word-of-mouth recommendations. The reccomendations are not always apt. Says Udayshankar Pani, who has worked for ‘Gandhi’ and has been a line producer for many German films shot in India, “There are not enough service providers and Indian film schools don’t treat production as a serious subject.”
Gulshan Grover, who has worked in many Hollywood films, feels both sides are to be blamed for the communication gap. He says, “We have some of the most talented guys who are good at multi-tasking despite the poor infrastructure, but a few among us have the habit of getting more out of the dollar-spending guys.
The foreign crew, too, have to shoulder a bit of the blame. They treat us very badly and behave as if they are doing us a favour.” German filmmakers like Michael Enke confess that though their companies are ready to invest in India, many are put off by their previous experiences.
Enke was helped by Pani for his film, but says that many other filmmakers are at the mercy of tour operators who double up as service providers. Hollywood’s favourite locales Goa, Kerala, Ladakh and Rajasthan in fact, have many such tourist operators doubling as service providers and making a hash of the job.
Says Dilip Borkar, who has been a service provider for Indian and foreign film units for 15 years, “Most often these so-called service providers fleece the foreign producers who are ignorant about India. The stories float around and international film producers prefer not to return because of the negative stories.”
But Arjun Bagga of Nora Films, who was the production manager for Omar Sharif’s ‘One Night With The King’, refuses to take a dim view of things. He feels we need to start by clearly revealing the ground realities of our country.
“For instance, it takes four days to get equipment cleared from the customs. If the foreign crew is informed about this and organises itself accordingly, lot of heartburn will be avoided,” Bagga adds.
