Brad and Angelina In & Out of India

You know I went through most of the drama thing here and more than Z’s hair, all this was about is intolerance. On both sides. The woman/man going on and on about hair is merely exhibiting a character trait - perfectionist/obsessive compulsive disorder perhaps, which a lot of black mothers exhibit(ed) for valid reasons. When you are poor and you have no control over many aspects of your life - slavery/racism/apartheid, whatever, you want to maintain a certain level of dignity by seeking to control what you can, in this case control over your house, control over your family, the kids’ hair etc, but underlying all of it is control of PUBLIC IMAGE, where what the neighbor has to say about me is more important than who I really am, and indeed neighbors will judge you by the state of your house, kid’s hair etc (in rich communities this would be your shoes, your weight). All of these are fickle, but part of who we are. So Z’s hair is no more than a product of that type of scenario, and this I think we need to tolerate.

BUT what she also needs to appreciate and celebrate is Angelina’s choice to not value what she/he values, and not see that as “below” her. I am in a country where if an African wears their hair natural, they must know they are not going far in the corporate environment no matter their productivity and level of intelligence. This is written nowhere but between the lines and you find yourself straightening and damaging your hair out of the frustration.

Angelina has done arguably more for racial reconciliation than many black activists, and I am not saying this to take anything away from them. But there is just that more volume when a white person challenges the racial stereotype, as opposed to a black person, this is my opinion. I think we should applaud Angelina if only just for taking that risk. How many of Ange’s fans do you think shifted opinion on race just due to Zahara? My guess is quite a few. And isn’t that where we are going?

She is trying, and to me that is enough. A friendly suggestion here and there I don’t think she would reject, but an attack is just unwarranted. When she know better she will do better. This is her first african child. And mind you, better doesn’t automatically imply straighter. Ange is about promoting rainbow. We should not all have to be Beyonce clones to be beautiful. Alek Wek in my eyes, is beautiful, and she is bald. She is more so beautiful because she is not trying to be Beyonce. Sometimes I wear my hair natural, sometimes I curl it, sometimes I straighten, sometimes I am bald, and throughout ALL of those times, I remain African and no-one can take away from that. Period.

It’s my essence, not the shape of my nose, or colour of my skin or hair texture that ultimately defines me.

Now Z’s hair, look up essence. You are also perfect. Just don’t impose it on others. Not even your own children. Then maybe we can stand a chance.

First of all, you guys don’t have any right to tell people to stay off of this site, it is NOT a BAMZS site, it is a gossip site.

LYLIAN: I agree this is a gossip site and anyone can post. Its up to Jared to decide who he wants to let on to the site and also when he wants to delete certain comments. its his site and he’s allowed to do what he wants. We are entitled simply to email him on whether we agree or vote with our mouse and fingers and not return to this site. it’s that simple. No one should complain about how Jared isnt’ being fair. He’s not required to be fair. If you don’t like it here, don’t come, don’t post. PERIOD.

Secondly, you all criticize people for being Jen lovers, but do you realize that you bring her up in EVERY thread about these people? Let it go. You guys really are obsessed, not only with these 2, but with all three people involved. Anytime a thread has absolutely nothing to do with Jennifer Aniston, like this one, she is brought up and criticized. Is it because you have to put your blame of this couple’s actions onto her? Because to the common lurker, that is exactly what you are doing. She has absolutely nothing to do with this. Nor does any other celebrity for that matter. Just the two of them, and their camp.

LYLIAN: I agree. Its time to de-link the two. To be honest, I don’t even want to read much about X. I haven’t seen her photos when she c-hosted the charity thing. It’s like, oh really?? Glad she’s doing something for charity but co-hosting a charity event, though undoubtedly a valuable and necessary contribution isn’t something that interests me enough to read about it. I prefer to see someone go to places and actually build homes or dig wells etc. myself.

To anyone who has an undesirable opinion of these two, keep on posting. These “fans” do not own this blog. They are just those bullies that you encounter in life at some point. There are some that can at least be nice, but most of them are rude, shallow, and obsessed. They live in a fantasyland where they actually think they know this couple and their every move. It’s sad really, but highly entertaining!!

I’m glad for the citizens of India that this couple is leaving, but I’ll be disappointed if they come back to the US. I would really like for them to go somewhere else. They’re really quite embarassing.

LYLIAN: Steamboat Annie, this comment is where you lose me. How is what ever has happened any of Brad and Angelina’s fault?? I know the tabloids play it up to make it look like it was there fault but Let’s look at the incidences one by one.

(1) Angelina wasn’t in the car when her “driver” (which incidentally means the guy who happened to have driven her that day) hit the motorcyclists. How can she be at fault? She wasn’t evenin the damn car. Incidentally, have you ever been in a 3rd world country in Asia? If you have, you will know that driving in Asia is not the same as driving in the US or Europe. Indian roads inn particular are full of unconventional vehicles, like rickshaws and bullock carts. They are also full of aggressive motorcyclists who squeeze between cars to get ahead. So I don’t even blame the driver for the accident. In any case, it definitely wasn’t Angelina’s fault.

(2) Angelina’s bodyguard Mickey, had grabbed the pap. However, what is not clear is that the grab took place on private property - at the Meridien hotel. You should be aware that a person is entitled to use reasonable force to protect ourselves and our belongings. From viewing the video, it appears that apart from a bruised ego, the pap was not worse for wear - tucking into some food later that day. When the matter was debated between 2 american bodyguards back in the states, there was a dispute as to whether unnecssary force had been used. Clearly, if there was debate, and clearly if the pap could eat, no damage was done so arguably, no unreasonable force was used. Mickey is her security detail and frankly, if no charges were laid, not unreasonable force used, then Mickey is doing the job he was paid to do. PERIOD.

(3) The helicopter incident was most surely the fault of the pilot. As a pilot he should have got clearance to land. There is not evidence that the pilot was forced to land at the hotel because Brad and Angelina made him to do so. Was he asked to land at the hotel by the people who organised the tour? Probably. Did Brad and angelina say - “hey, can we land at the hotel so we don’t have to deal with the paps and the traffice?” probably. Did the hotel consent to the landing?? Absolutely. Why would Brad and Angelina be expected to know or care whether the pilot or the hotel was breaking the law?? You should also note that this “hotel” was a former palace, situated in ample empty space. It was not exactly high risk to nearby housing or anything like that. I personally don’t think there would have been any incident at all but for the police/air traffic people throwing their weight around because it was Brad and angelina who were travelling. One example of this is that I have visited India many times on business. I have no idea whether or not the hotel reported my presence to the police in Delhi or Mumbai or Pune. Why should I?? No police ever bothered me. But when Brad and Angelina arrived at Le meridien, the police protested that the hotel was in breach of regulations and should have reported the presence of Brad, Angelina etc to the police. And the paps and tabloids headlines were ” Brad and Angelina failed to report whereabouts to the police” - like it was there fault.

(4) And finally, this pushing incident. All I can say is, where oh where is the evidence to show that the pushing and shoving and swearing was done by the bodyguards. The very fact that not a single photo has emerged from that incident showing a culpable bodyguard, 5 days after the alledged incident, tells me that may be, its (a) exaggerated out of total proportion to the incident (b) the bodyguards were NOT involved (c) the paps were involved, hence, no photo. If you heard the interview with Irrfan, he was asked by the paps to this effect: “how would you feel or react if someone had said bloody muslim indian to you??” Irrfan was smart enough not to answer the question. Because had he answered the question by saying that he would be angry and insulted, the tabloids would have taken his response and printed this headline “IRRFAN ANGRY WITH BODYGUARDS INSULTS” They may or may not have published the context in which irrfan hypothetically made this comment.

LYLIAN: I’m disappointed that you can’t read thoughtfully and critically behind the tabloid spinn on stories. Having followed Brad and angelina’s news for 18 months or so, I can honestly say that the amount of lies and tabloid spin is shocking. Its got to the point where I don’t read about other celebrities anymore because frankly, tabloids print LIES, spin the truth, exaggerate, and none of the other celebrities, not even Jennifer, interests me enough to bother to find out what is true and what is not. So rather then reading bad things about people which I now know is most probably NOT TRUE OR EXAGGERATED OR SPUN BY THE TABS, I just don’t read what they write, not even browse at the supermarket. And I now read even the ordinary news with a more critical eye. Spin happens, even when the reporter is genuinely trying to do his job.

LYLIAN: I will however support brad and angelina because (a) I actually think they do important work in their charities and because, (b) they fit MY projection of a couple who appears to be soulmates, destined to be together, building a multiethnic family. To me, that’s lovely. Yes, it could be a fantasy, my fantasy. I know I could be wrong about them but hey, if I’m wrong, ITS STILL NOT their fault. They didn’t tell me anything and they don’t owe me anything. It’s my PROJECTION and I’ll take responsibility that.

i’m getting the suspicion that mickey’s untimely detainment is the reason why the jolie-pitts left in the middle of the night. not that they were running away from anything. angie’s finished her part in the filming, the holidays are coming and they have busy schedules; but without mickey’s protection, i think they didn’t want to have to suffer a big to-do on their departure. they were obviously hoping not to be photographed or even seen as they were leaving. i wonder if mickey had been available to do his job and join them whether or not they’d have left in the night with the kids still in their jammies.

i’m beginning to suspect that we’re related. we’ve got too much in common.

Pls dont take this in an offensive way, but i’ve noticed that Americans are very concerned about their outward appearance to the point of obsession. Iam not saying its wrong to look good, dress up and wear nice clothes. It’s just that when these things become a major priority(read obsession) trouble starts brewing. In India there’s no such thing called “Anorexia” cuz a lot of people dont have enough to eat in the first place and if you see someone really thin it’s because they are mal-nutritioned due to lack of good food. I was shocked by the fact that anorexia in America is the new trend!! Not healthy at all!! And what’s with the obsession about plastic surgery! Iam not trying to judge anyone here but, plastic surgery is like defying nature which is never a good thing in my opinion. Iam sorry if my comments has upset many of you ladies but i still think this obsession of physical perfection has reached an all time high.
Anyways, I think Z’s hair looks just fine. Children need to be just children. It’s ok if they are unkempt sometimes. Does’nt mean a thing to me if they dont brush their hair for just one day. If they follow basic hygiene that’s good enough which iam sure Angie is doing.

The idea of B&A being soul mates makes you see red, huh? Didn’t you see that Lylian said in her post that it’s her fantasy? She doesn’t require them to live up to her idea of them. Here read again from Lylian:

good for you cinderella… i like brad and angelina but i never trashed jennifer. i think that’s life and people gotta deal with it.
