OlderBrad Pitt’s Exclusive Interview on the Bodyguard Controversy
Brad Pitt gave an exclusive interview to NDTV (New Delhi Television Limited) late last week, speaking out against the the bodyguard controversy. Brad was interviewed by NDTV’s Managing Editor Barkha Dutt and sat alongside Indian theater and film actor, Irfan Khan. Watch the first 8 minutes below! Part II after the jump… Thanks, Alexanderina!!
Here’s an excerpt of what Brad had to say: “This is not what Angelina [Jolie] and I wanted. This contradicts the message of the film we are trying to make. Angelina and I have a multi-racial family, we want them to respect and understand different religions. Maybe we should have explained our intentions when we first got here. We would not hire anyone who is racist or who would hurt or push a child.”

Thats because it wasn’t rehearsed, it was right after the incident and He was speaking from the heart. You wouldn’t know about that.

I don’t know if it’s bad publicity for them (Tom&Katie) because it sounds as if the local people are only miffed because they weren’t acknowledged. I would have respected them more if they ignore the whole charade. And anyone with an ounce of common sense could see that this is nothing more than a show. The guest list is ridiculous. Why is Jim Carrey invited? and Brooke Shields? And Posh Spice. Come on, now. Remind me, which of those people are Katie’s (bought) friends again?

I like when things are not rehearsed that is when you get the most honest answers IMO. I think you can tell when things are staged or the answers are the PR answers. But this interview seems unexpected as things happened so fast but necessary as to address it immediately and very much from an honest place.
Brad needed to have a clearer understanding of what he was going to say and REHEARSED IT so he could just say it and not get caught so many times looking up while he tries to figure out the word or phrase he wanted to use.
I think I actually prefer to read transcripts of his interviews rather than actually watch him give one because It’s almost painful to watch him struggle to put a clear and concise sentence together.
And it drove me crazy that he kept answering her repeated direct questions about the incident with a long-winded statement about the message of the movie because that’s not answering her question and you could tell she knew he was deflecting because she kept going back to ask the question again.
BUT he does look good and that’s what’s important, right?
Don’t like either Tom or Katie but waving to the crowd would have been a lose-lose situation. The people felt snubbed for not being acknowledge but if they did come out and say wave, everyone here in America would say “Who do they think they are, some kind of King and Queen?”.
Honestly though, they should have acknowledged the crowd, after all these people put up Tom and Katie posters up everywhere - BARF - ! Also I wish I could feel sympathy for the crowd but come on! They waited outside in the rain to get a glimpse of GMD and his robot wife! Why were they treating them like royalty in the first place?

I think it would’ve been much worse, had he gone in with a prescripted answer for everything. That would’ve made him look glib and insincere. The most important thing is that he is speaking the truth, from his heart. What others might find annoying about his stuttering and searching for words to describe what he’s feeling, aren’t really more endearing and not coming off as a PR statement.

My thought exactly. But then again, I remembered someone else on this site mentioned that they might have been paid to put up those signs and at this point, I am not surprised by anything when Tom Cruise is involved. I am willing to bet that he paid people to create this “contraversy” too, to take away from, I don’t know Brad & Angelina?

I thought that Brad and Irfan did a great job … considering this was right after the incident. Brad took his time making his comments, making sure that he is saying the right thing, not offending anybody yet standing up for his employees (the bodyguards). I like interviews like this, off the cuff, answers unrehearsed. If they had rehearsed their answers, then it would look like some planned PR ploy.
ITA, QQQQ. Her vacation must really have s*cked big time because someone is back. Sheesh, when I was on my vacation in September, I did not log on for a whole week. My vacation was more important to me than logging on.
