Hi! I’m still stuck at work, couldn’t take the day off because my other officemate asked for the day off first, so I had to come in. I will be working until Thanksgiving morning, then we’re going to Indianapolis to our friends’ home to celebrate with them.

This is going to be special for your family since it’s little Bradley’s 1st Thanksgiving!

I think Angie would celebrate Thanksgiving, because the original Thanksgiving was also a celebration of the Native American culture and what the new white people learned from them. It was only later, much later, that the friction between the peoples started.

Also, Thanksgiving is the only holiday that is purely without religious overtones or historical markers, or trumped up commercialism. That’s why the stores skip it and go from Halloween to Christmas! There are no decorating rituals or gifts — just food, family, friends, and football! It is about being thankful for what you have, and acknowledging those closest to you in your life, and thanking others for their influence in your life, and recognizing all your blessings, even when you think they are small. I truly believe Angie and Brad would be very much wanting to celebrate a holiday like this. And I think that’s why Angie went to Pakistan last year on Thanksgiving and let the Pakistanis devastated by the earthquake know they were not forgotten. Togetherness, connections to each other — that is what this holiday is about. And that is what Brad and Angie are about, too.

It is tricky. I watched a great documentary on The History Channel this week. It was interesting. Supposedly before the Pilgrims, Europeans had bought disease and illness to the Native American population. By the time the Pilgrims arrived, quit ea few tribes were suspicious and angry, especially given the number of Native Americans had their property stolen etc.

That said, yes the Thanksgiving was a day of atonement I guess.

But in the documentary there was footage of a lot of Native Americans protesting at the National Thanksgiving Day Parade at Plymouth Rock.

I think Angie would consider both sides. She probably uses the day to celebrate family but I am sure she will teach her children the reality of what happened to her people once they were overtaken. Of course her children are so small but I am sure she is beginning even now to teach them how to celebrate Native American culture.

I don’t thinnk she would celebrate Thanksgiving without facing the reality of what happened to that part of her lineage. I always make sure I think of the Native Americans and their struggle when I come together to celebrate the day.

To clarify, numbers don’t lie but what goes into making up those numbers do - all the time. Statistics is about parameters - what you measure and what you choose to leave out. Both equally important.

ITA, absolutely Lylian, thanks for greater clarification. I was referring to black and white census statistics that usually formulate “divorce” data, but there are many “divorce” stats with different parameters than the census and each result will be different.

and to AL, about the x interview with VF, now you also know why lots of bad things happend to her life, rite? (flop movies for about 3 times in a row, aimless relationship with her oh, so called boyfriend and a no hope situation for oscar)
i also see the story of the x’s life at E a couple of weeks ago, and i still cannot understand why lots of people call her sweatheart. SHE. IS.A.FRAUD. the way she acts about those pregnancy rumors was just FRAUD.
