Gabriel Aubry’s Fuego Food
Finally made it out to Cafe Fuego for brunch yesterday with Audrey. Here’s what we ordered:
- Ensalada Verde Mixta: A harmonious blend of crispy mesclun greens, hearts of palm & skinned carrots accompanied with a light garlic glaze
- Cubano Sandwich: A concert of warm pork & ham celebrated with mustard, pickles & perfectly aged Swiss cheese, on crisp Cuban bread
- Cafe Fuego Macaroni de Queso: Baked macaroni with the symmetry of bubbly manchego, spirited mozzarella and smooth cream cheese
The mac & cheese was a tad soupy but tasty. The salad was good. But the Cuban sandwich was over-the-charts YUMMY. Definitely going back for seconds and trying the other dishes out too.
Halle Berry’s boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, is the co-owner of Cafe Fuego with business partner Stephane Bibeau. Cafe Fuego is located @ 9 St. Marks Place, New York, NY 10003.

There was a rumor a few months ago can’t remember where I read it or saw it on some blog or photo storage site that they were looking to buy property in Canada. Have tried to look for it for awhile but can’t find it. I do find it , I will let you know and post here for you. Don’t know if it’s true. One can only hope.
At least they wouldn’t have to put up with the crap their putting up with here in the States other than that sicko Arika Moritani/Stuart Bennett posting crap about how and Halle are so in love for over a year or so all over the internet and on his blog (I also heard about him too–a total nutcase). The boy is ate up regardless of his many denials. Seriously, doubt if Halle even knows him or much less has talked to him. Don’t think she’d be dating that cute studmuffin of her’s for over a year just to keep some whacko away.
Also, I think there was also a rumor (I don’t know if it’s been posted on one of the JJ pieces or not) I think over the summer maybe of Aubry was on some Canadian program or some Canadian program said he’d like them to get married in Montreal.
Don’t know if this is true either. May want to check the Internet for this or her message board at imdb.com–we can only keep our fingers crossed.
Thanks for the pics…I have to say seeing the several pics of that scene shows a bit disruption. Halle walking away, the ones I saw her turning around saying whatever to him. But to be honest most couples fight, so it could be nothing (IF THEY ARE EVEN FIGHTING!).

I agree with another poster on another site. I think Gabriel and Halle are getting tired of being followed around everywhere. They can’t be glamorous at all times, and I’m sure it’s frustrating to have your photo taken when you are not ready to pose. I sure would be pi$$ed off if a photog was stalking me in the supermarket.
Yeah but usually when stars are annoyed by the pappi they walk away together, or show their anger toward the pappi, they don’t frown at each other. Plus, Halle has been here numerous of times, with Eric, Michael, now with Gabriel. I’ve never seen her react like this. Plus, what’s the point of hiding the relationship, which would be why she would walk away alone IF she were really just trying to avoid the pappi, everyone knows they are a couple, she’s made that clear. So I think it was probably a little argument and PERHAPS they just did not want the pappi to hear it. Who knows. At the end of the day, none of us know.
But I have to say this,
Go Halle: please don’t get obsessed with the FANTASY of this couple. They are just regular people. I worry that you might fall apart WHEN you find out, this relatinoship is likely not the fairy tale you think it is. To be honest, their relationships seems quite boring. Even when Halle and Eric were gonig through issues, their candids showed more fun together. And she, at least on camera, seemed to have a lot of fun with Michael. So, I wouldn’t put this relationship or these people on a pedestal!
Totally agree with the last poster. Movie stars shouldn’t be put on pedestals and need to be as humans. Regarding the bit about moving to Canada and Aubry wanting to get married in Montreal—think they’re just rumors.
The fact that Halle doesn’t appear to be smiling for the cameras gives me hope that she’s done with the fake appearances. She seems more serious with Gabriel, more like she’s carefully making sure she doesn’t force the relationship.
If Gabriel and Halle break up, I will be very disappointed, but when you follow these Hollywood stars, in the back of your mind, you have to realize that there is the possiblity that the relationship can fail. If these two beautiful people break up, I will be terribly disappointed, but I won’t break down. I’ll go on and continue to wish nothing but the best for Miss Berry. I like her. Honestly, I think she’s a good person.
Cool Go Halle. I know you wouldn’t break down, I’m just hoping you don’t think this is a “perfect relationship” just because they are so called beautiful people or movie stars. TRUST ME, they have the most and often times WORSE problems. I think Halle will be okay with or without Gabriel, and to be honest a relationship only truly works when one is secure with themselves and is not in NEED of someone else, hopefully Halle has reached that point in her life.
But to be honest the only guy I think Halle truly was “feenin” and probably still does is David Justice, that girl was crushed when that marriage fell apart, I was just looking at an old clip concerning that situation, she appeared to want to cry during every interview. Eric, I think she loved him a lot, obviously since she stayed with him although he cheated sooo many times, but after a while she probably could not trust him. Gabriel, I really don’t get the feeling of Halle being “super in love.” I sense that she is in a place now where she has someone in her life, she’s not lonely, but she’s still moving cautiously. I’m sure this has been said, but Eric was supposed to be “the perfect guy” for Halle when they first started dating, even Halle thought so, and look what happened (again proving the humanity of these people, the image means nothing). So, with that, you can only expect Halle to be a little cautious with any of her new relationships.

According to some folks…it may not be Gabriel whose sexuality should be in question. And that’s all I’m going to say. But if it’s true, it all makes sense now.
Oh please, don’t start with Halle may be a lesbian. Nothing more than possibly being bi-curious at best. Bi-sexual who knows. You sound like that gay guy who used to post on Halle’s imdb.com message board, swearing that Halle was or should be family.
That’s how the whole Oprah/Gail thing or the Whitney/Robin etal (and others) (from 15-20 years ago got started).
Just because she hasn’t had the best choice in men including her 2 failed marriages which she played a part in (have never gone for the victim bit), more of a karma thing or not willing to work on herself, all of that doesn’t make her a lesbian. Don’t have a clue if the thought has ever crossed her mind. Even if she did the bi-curious thing, don’t see her being on the pink team for long, see it more as an experiment or ruling out the possibility if she has had those thoughts. She’s still all woman. Trust me I am know a lot of gays and lesbians, Halle isn’t one of the girls, trust me.
Would almost bet, that if she really is willing to work on herself, she will find the right guy, if it’s not Aubry to settle down with. Even if she stays with Aubry she still needs to give a little more than showing up periodically in NYC or going with him occasionally to Miami , Canada,etc. Instead of him being her servant or errand boy.
Unless she has a profound character change soon with herself with Aubry, I don’t see them together much longer. If he’s really the one, she would have already permanently moved to NYC/Miami by now as well as spending more time there.
Nice try…still say of two…it’s probably Aubry…c’mon with all that talk about her saying she wanted a kid and the fake pg photos from this summer…bet Gabby is the one shooting blanks or being a neurotic Catholic not wanting kids w/o being married (don’t think they’re on the same page on the marriage thing).

Probably some gay or lesbian wishing she was on their team or one of the sistas trying to stir up the **** because they don’t want to believe Halle’s being Gabby’s cover/beard could be a possibility (not saying he is) and not the other way around. It is probably no more than a rumor by one of the imdb.com haters or the ****** who’s been posting on concreteloop and other places about Justice when he was drunk bar hopping and others talking about how she’s frigid in bed. Can’t believe that people would actually write that crap on the internet.
I do try to check these comments every few days or so if not daily. Of course, I disagree about the pregnancy thing. Halle is 40. By 40, a lot of women need help conceiving. It just doesn’t happen like it used to. Also unfortunately, Halle may have decided not to have a baby after all. But I’m still hopeful.
Women can control pregnancy more than people give them credit for. Angelina Jolie has had men in her life since she was 14. Yet, she finally decided to have a child with Brad at 30. I’m sure those men in her life were not lackadaisical in the bedroom, that’s for sure.
In any case, I looked at the latest STAR rag and saw one of the photos of Halle and Gabriel at the cafe. It was basically stating that they should have a baby because the child would be so beautiful. They ran the quotes of Halle stating that at 40, she would ask the man she was dating at the time if he would like to have a child. On the same page was a drawing of what their son and daughter might look like. That’s a somewhat regular feature in that rag, combining the features of two famous people and predicting the appearance of their offspring.
The boy looked totally Caucasian, and the little girl looked like Halle’s Mini Me. That was a little funny.
Personally, I think Gabriel’s nose and face shape would come through in their child. That would look better on a son, I think. It just seems like when a parent has really bold features, the kids somehow get them. Remember Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley? Joel has large bug eyes and a puggy nose, and their daughter Alexis got everything of his. I don’t see Christie one little bit.
Go Halle…don’t want want to appear to be mean or anything. You’ve been going on this baby wish kick for almost a month now (maybe longer I don’t know if you’ve posted elsewhere). Obviously, your dialogue exchange with Nonpedestal may not have totally sunk in. There’s nothing wrong with wishing something for somebody even if it’s Halle or another celebrity. You may also at some point have to expect children may not be in the cards for Halle whether or not she stays with Aubry or not or is with some other guy or does the frozen pop thing or not. It may not happen. I just don’t want you either to crumble if it doesn’t happen for Halle no matter she is or isn’t with or if/when they break up if they do.
Don’t get the “super in love” vibe either or she would be with him more in NYC/Miami/Canada instead of him always being in LA to be with her. On some level, it has to be getting tiring for him from some of the pix of them fighting/talking or grocery shopping.
Overall, my philosophy is “It’s not over til it’s over.” So yes, I’m still going to hope for them. Halle said she always wanted a child. She’s 40 (which is a little late) and needs to seriously consider what it’s worth. Hollywood isn’t too kind to older actresses in general, let alone black actresses. She has achieved considerable fame, she has an Oscar, and I’d love to see her with a happy family life too. Some women end up with major regrets if they do not fulfill their desire for motherhood, and adoption is not for everyone.
ALL I CAN SAY FOR SURE IS THAT HALLE HAS LOST HER D*MN MIND!!!! OBVIOUSLY THIS CHICK IS NOT TRYING TO HAVE NOBODY’S BABY. CLICK BELOW!!!

I’m a little surprised too, but if so many pop stars and rappers are allowed to act in movies, why shouldn’t Halle be allowed to sing? What’s good for the goose…….

It’s only a rumor or a silly prank…Halle is not doing an album or cd regardless of what has been appearing on the internet this week and a few weeks ago. HLN , Rolling Stone, and the others are wrong. Halle’s fan club prez Robin Cross aka robirob posted three messages on concreteloop.com to that effect as well as posting statements on her Yahoo Hallehood_Groovers chat groups. Even Angel la @CCL has put a disclaimer on the site to that effect.
My guess someone posted the thing on wikipedia.org and the rumor got started. Anyway check those sources as well as Halle’s message board on imdb.com.
So for now it’s only a rumor (or childish prank). Halle’s said numerous times in interviews that she’s embarrased by her singing voice, etc. Rumors like her moving to Canada with Aubry, buying a plane, having both Ealy’s and Aubry’s baby, etc.
The food and service sucks. Surprised if it is still open in 1-2 years. Doubt Halle’s going to be bankrolling her gayboy’s venture for that long.
Again all hype and no substance.
Rumors of business expansion/franchising my ass. The place is still getting bad reviews. Aubry needs to stop lying to the media and Canadian press how well the place is doing. Don’t know anyone as well as myself who has ever gotten a good meal or good service there.
I’m scrolling round to past topics on Halle and Gabriel.
The restaurant business is difficult indeed. I’m still hopeful for Gabriel’s restaurant, but if it fails, he shouldn’t feel too bad. The majority of restaurants fail. I’m sure he would find another business venue that he would be successful at. Good luck to him.
