George Clooney Rags on Brad Pitt

George Clooney Rags on Brad Pitt

George Clooney playfully ragged on good friend Brad Pitt on last night’s The Late Show with David Letterman. George knocked Brad for also winning the title of “People’s Sexiest Man” twice. George joked of Brad: “He was a little upset. It sort of knocked his thing down a notch.”

Brad congratulated George’s win by taking out full-page ads in Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, which read:

Dear George,

Congratulations on being People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive.

[insert cornball picture of George from 1985]

Your Friend,

“The Reverend Ted”

Yes, it’s in reference to that Ted. The Ted Haggard who was guilty of “sexually immoral conduct” and ex-pastor of mega-church New Life Church.

George retaliated on Letterman by showing old school pictures of Brad wearing tapered pants and a beret. Above is George imitating one of Brad’s cheesy poses.

George also joked of Matt Damon: “We felt bad for Matt Damon because he really wanted it. He campaigned hard for it but we think he just came up short.”

Frenchy - I am not too sure about Angelina on Oprah. I actually don’t think she is into shows with a live audience any more. As a matter of fact, I FEAR for her if she ever enter than min-van majority territory.

I am suprised that she is doing LKing but then again, she is with other cast members.
*******************************************

Isn’t this being a bit alarmist? Why would you fear for Angie in a live audience. Angelina might not be liked by some people, but beyond the tabloid world Angie is respected. I read this article today in Marie Claire written by Wentworth Ali, George Stephonopolous wife about celebrity advocating for their causes. For all the celebrities mentioned and praised, Angie was the only one singled out for gushing. The writer said she is so knowledgeable about her causes and that it is so funny seeing grown men rushing for their cell phones and bragging about who they just make. She said people in DC cannot wait for Jolie-Pitts to move to Georgetown not only because Angie has such succulent lips and a bod for sin, but because she knows how to get things done.

I say this because sometimes vocal minority are the loudest, that was why I started posting on this blog nearly two years ago, because I got tired of hearing how women hated Angie, and only one person that I know hated Angie because her husband is a dog and Angie is the unseen threat, besides her, most other women that I know like Angie even if they don’t care for her BBT days.
Serious minded people like Angelina and believe me the mini van sect are in the minority but they shriek the loudest. Nobody that I know will go on gossip blog, they don’t even know that I post on blogs and they think I am obssessed. Most people don’t care enough to go on blogs, but don’t be fooled, Brad and Angie are liked, admired and respected just not as loudly or as vocal as the non-fans.

Can George ever go without mentioning Brad? Is that basically his gist? To talk about Brad all the time, nonstop, 24/7?

He either has a huge man crush on Brad or is a coattail rider.

I thought Brad was a “hollywood friend” to George. Clooney must really believe because that because the only time he mentions Brad is when the media is paying attention.

Yeah, good job Clooney. Run farrrrrrr away from you “hollywood friend” when people are bashing him and he is going through a low phase.

And come running back once he starts getting praise for his movie and he’s recieving positive comments.

George, what a convenient friend you are.

ITA, GC IMHO is a male version of a medaiwh#re . Excuse my language but I think he does what is good to his image only . He likes the limelight more than anything else and riding on Brad’s coatail seems to be his latest quest for attention.
He is way overdoing it … trying to appear like he is the “bestest” friend of BRad . I do question where he was when the public bashes BRad …and how he never put it or back him up then.

Give it a break - Clooney and Pitt are really good friends - they rag on each other and play practical jokes — why not on tv — stops them from having to be too personal about other things — it’s fun and they enjoy it as do the masses. George Clooney isn’t using Brad Pitt- Clooney doesn’t need any media help from another celeb and niether does Pitt.

Hi Artemis!

I love your long post, i’m smiling while reading it.
I will be looking for your long post from now on. :D

Thanks Jared & Audrey for the new thread!
I fall asleep watching Letterman talking to GC >> I missed the above part maybe
it’s because I’m not a fan of GC >>he seems not a real friend to Brad.

Wishing the best for all the BAMZS fans, Jared & Audrey , Jolie-Pitts & staff.

Good nite all !!

Thanks Jared for the new thread, GC is such a prankster, I adore GC, awwwww Brad is so cute and adorable is those pictures

What are some of you talking about when you say George didn’t back Brad up during the bad times? George had nothing but praise for Brad last year. He was also one of the first to publicly say he was happy for Brad and Angelina. Besides I don’t think Brad needs or wants his friends to defend him in public. Especially in regard to the “Bermuda triangle.” Also I don’t think George would’ve brought up those pictures if Brad hadn’t taken out that ad in the first place. Whatever Brad and George do or say about each other, it’s all in the good fun. I for one enjoy their camaraderie and pranks no matter how silly they are.

I agree w/ you Indie. Oftentimes, people conveniently forget about the silent majority. Let me add to your story. I was quite surprised by the comment of one of our consultants. He saw one of Angie’s St John pics on my screen saver and he said “Is that Angelina Jolie?” to which I responded yes, and he continued, “She absolutely gorgeous. I like because she’s not only beautiful but on top of that so kind and so compassionate”……he is an engineer and does not keep up w/ celebrity gossip but he’s heard about her UN humanitarian works…..

Here is what GC said on Larry King last year. (IMO GC was just trying to get out of saying anything to Larry. I don’t think he was trying to disrespect Brad):

Aired February 16, 2006 - 21:00 ET

KING: We’re back with George Clooney. Brad Pitt is a very close friend of yours.

CLOONEY: Yes, sure is.

KING: How are they doing?

CLOONEY: Well, I don’t know. They’re on the road now. They’re traveling around so I would imagine they’re doing well. We talk, you know, when you say very good friends he’s not — I have my friends and then I have sort of my showbiz friends and showbiz friends are people that you actually care about and spend a little time with but it’s not like we call each other every day or something like the (INAUDIBLE).

KING: Oh, you’re not like friend friends?

CLOONEY: Yes, we don’t, you know, it’s not like we go, I mean he’s come to my house and stayed and, you know, like that but it’s not like we, you know, we go backpacking together.

KING: Did you offer him your house for a honeymoon?

CLOONEY: No but I will now. He can come there if he wants. A bunch of tabloids, all the tabloids had that that he’s coming to my house to get married. I wanted to rent a bunch of tables, you know, and put them outside and then get a bunch of like kids or something dressed up in tuxes and watch them in tuxes and watch all the cameras come by.

KING: Do you keep in — you don’t keep in close touch though?

CLOONEY: I do. I mean I talk to him probably once a month or so.

KING: Good guy?

CLOONEY: A great guy. I mean a great, truly great guy.

KING: Do you like working with him?

CLOONEY: Love working with him. Yes, he’s, you know, he — Steven Soderbergh and I have a — we’re partners. We have a company together and we have sort of this life’s too short rule and the life’s too short rule for us is work with actors that are good and enjoy what they do and don’t make other people unhappy. I think we’re very lucky and very privileged to be here.

You know I was — I grew up, I cut tobacco for a living. I sold insurance door to door. I didn’t really think I was ever going to get to this place in my life and so I think we should enjoy it and have fun with it.

KING: How did Brad deal with that public divorce?

CLOONEY: I don’t — I think — I think how does anybody deal with it, you know. We’ve all been through sort of public issues at times and he probably does it the same way that most do which is by trying to listen as little to it as you possibly can and it will go away eventually.

KING: It’s hard though isn’t it?

CLOONEY: Yes, I think — well, I mean if you look at the magazines I don’t think there’s been a magazine in the last three months that didn’t have them on the cover so, yes, I think it’s hard. I would imagine it’s very hard for them.

KING: Yes and how do you deal with that. You can’t look away.

CLOONEY: I think you can at some point. I think at some point you have to look away because if you just stare at it I think it will make you crazy.

Say, Sherlock - didn’t you read the text? Brad Pitt took a full page ad out poking fun of Clooney first - Clooney’s appearance on Letterman was “retaliatory”. Looks like Clooney only comments on his friends in public when they are in on the joke. That’s just nice.

By the way - a lot of the minivan set admire Angelina Jolie - and not just for her philanthropy. Not all of us see her as a homewrecker. Whatever the deal was with Pitt’s marriage (and who really knows), it wasn’t leading him where he obviously longed to be in life - to being a father in love with a woman who shares his love for children and wants to have plenty with him. That’s also pretty nice - and easy for us minivan moms to relate to. Ahem.

Robert Redford and Paul Newman have the same type of friendship as GC and BP. They did not hang with each other or go on family trips . However they played gags on each other (One in which Redford put a car inside Newman’s house), respected each other and enjoyed acting together.

Is Indie still around? Does anyone know who is on the cover of the Marie Claire where Wentworth Ali praises Angie?

Oh and thanks Jared and Audrey for the new thread.

I think there is minivan mom and there are moms.
If the moms have with self dignity and confidence, they like Angie and admire her.
However, if the moms (just minor group, I believe) are a certain group of people who are insecure and worry about their husband, then they do not like Angie.
So please do not put every mom in same category.

Yay! Brad and Angie fans are usually nonconformist, so you should fit right in. So glad to hear from someone who isn’t spouting the same old broken record that condemns Angie. Brad was unhappy before and would have wound up divorced anyway, even if Angie had not been on his radar screen at the time. Of course, I feel like she would have been eventually, anyway. They were sorta destined to get together.

GC was the first person who defend Brad right after the divorce. I still remember in the Premier of OC12 at Japan, when reporter tried to ask Brad bout his divorce, GC come into the rescue and retaliate the question. and after Brad and Angie become a couple publicly, He was all prasie and admiration.

Ashley Judd is on the cover of Dec. 2006 issue of Marie Claire. Here is one columnist opinion of the article:

More interesting is Ali Wentworth’s column on page 70 – “Invasion of the Cause Celebs!” Wentworth analyses the masses of cause-pushing celebrities on Capitol Hill – are they legit or simply jumping on the bandwagon? The answer = both. Some stars (Bono, Angelina Jolie) are still there for their causes when the cameras are off and know their facts. Others, well – consider this scene from Oprah:

“…Meg Ryan was in the white armchair discussing the plight of women in India. I’m sorry, what? Then we saw homemade movies of the Sleepless in Seattle star in Jehangirpuri, one of the poorest slums in the world, wearing her designer sunglasses and an expensive camera, trying to ‘relate’ to these impoverished and suffering women.”

Thanks LO. I’ll pick up the issue tomorrow.

Goodnight BAMZS fans. Talk to you later.

I dont quite understand this “minivan majority theory” thing, and why would be Aniston be their poster girl, when in fact she is an antithesis of what they are. She is single with no children to take care of, who pampers herself, smokes, drinks, and seems to be living a hedonistic life. On the other hand, Angelina, maybe except for her physical beauty and celebrity stature, could literally be a typical minivan Mom, she takes her kids out and about in a minivan, i think they have one aside from the their range rover. She is a mother of 3 kids, a housewife/partner and a homemaker, she is trying to juggle her life by being a working mother and a “wife’partner” to Brad, and doing a lot of humanitarian work, but does not lose her own individuality, as she still has time to attend to her hobbies such as flying. If ever, she should be the minivan majority poster girl, and not some shallow bored hollywood celebrity like Aniston who doesnt do anything of substance.

Minivan Says:

***************************

Personally, I take Lainey’s coinage of the “minivan majority” not just refers to stay at home moms (w/c IMO sometimes often used w/ a negative connotation w/c is unfair because choosing to devote most of your time to be w/ your family is noble and a fulfilling one). I think they refer to a certain sector of society who takes tabloid news or celebrity gossip at face value and guillible enough to absorb a certain image as real. It is deemed that they are the majority because they are more vocal as what Indie. This does not mean that this is the perception of all the moms out there, it is actually a perception of most of this “perceived majority” (target audience of entertainment media) during the height of the triangle but as the truth slowly comes out, their resounding indignation has become a lowly whisper of someone who is just projecting and taking this situation as their personal vendetta.

The entertainment media fed a lot of impressions to justify their agenda or to cater to someone’s agenda. When the truth is that most don’t care and if they admire and like Angie, they do so in silence and don’t spend their time making the rounds in the NET voicing their opinion. Most of them are just too busy with their lives or making ends meet than concern themselves with a celebrity break-up and take the side of a media hyped PR proclaimed American Sweetheart. Most actually don’t care but the media chose not to cater to that fact because it’s not lucrative.

During the height of this debacle, the media was feeding its audience to side or pity Aniston because she’s the only one playing the game. The other party wants no part of it. Ergo, it backed the one who was most cooperative. Aniston and her team made the media as part of the machine that built up her nice, so down-to-earth image, or girl next door image who everyone should love. So it is no wonder that when her PR team and the media peddled the pity party a lot of the so called “mini-van majority” bought it. Hence, we still have people hanging on to the Golden Image and quoting “truths” from her VF spill.

I just want to add my vote to the view that the most mums I know like Angelinaj - even when the Break Up first occurred. Of course, most mums I know are over 40 and frankly, have lived a bit in their lives. They are happy and secure in themselves and their relationships.

I genuinely believe that those who continue to dislike Brad and Angelina 2 years and 3 kids after separation are people who

(a) have a victim mentality;
(b) don’t really think but react to their feelings.(I feel therefore I am)
(c) and the more vitriolic they are, the more they hate themselves, and the awful lives they live.

Don’t get me wrong, these people may, be objective standards, have a really good life but something stops them from enjoying their own lives. Always, something eats away at their soul so they hate whoever symbolises their fears, their insecurities.

Most people don’t live like that - thank goodness.

You pointed out something that reminds me about the Donald Trump incident. One begin to wonder why he did what he did. Aside from getting publicity and to share in the popularity of the J-Ps what’s in it for him? It certainly not for altruistic reasons. I don’t know much about him but he sure does appear to have some vested interest in bashing Angie and acts as if its his moral right. Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t have the credibility to get the mud he threw to stick. Angie’s discord with her father and her taking a firm stand touches a nerve. He’s probably afraid one of his children will do the same. Angie sharing her fortune goes against his personal mantra of amassing his fortune. You’re suppose to hoard it, build from it and not give it away.

So, same as thru applies to the people who were subjected to the hard selling tactics of the concept that Aniston is the poster girl of the “mini-van majority”. Some took it as gospel because it validates/justifies what you have stated in your post. Sadly, the entertainment media left it from there and made conclusions and still based their stories on those conclusions. What’s unfortunate is that, that biased perception infiltrated into some of the mainstream media. Its also unfortunate that very same media who forced fed that concept conveniently forgot to take into account that those who were lumped as the “mini-van majority” are beginning to question the validity of that claim that Aniston is their poster girl.

Who on earth votes for Cloony as Sexiest man alive??
He looks like a 60 year old gibsy.

So now he´s got the title two times, and Brad got it two times…..so who do you think will get it next?

The Rev Ted reference is from a line in Ocean’s that George says to Brad :

“Ted Nugent called he wants his shirt back”

Anyway, George is a tool. He’s whored his relationship out with Brad forever and a day but when it came time for George pimping himself out for Oscar he’s suddenly only ‘work friends’ with Brad. Which in reality is all he ever really was anyway. When it suits Clooney Brad’s the greatest but when Clooney wants to talk about himself he really doesn’t know Brad.

I also wanted to mention that the whole point of the ad was because George had contacted Variety and wanted to put a “For your consideration” ad in the paper for Matt Damon for Sexiest Man Alive. Variety told him NO! They were a serious newspaper and do not run things like that. Clooney told Brad and Brad contacted Variety and they gladly ran the ad for Brad.

Good Morning. This was posted on bradforums.

Are Americans Cheap?
By John Stossel

The New York Times and Washington Post editorialize about America’s “stinginess.” Former President Jimmy Carter says when it comes to helping others, “The rich states don’t give a damn.” Standing outside the White House, the singer Bono told the press that America doesn’t do enough to help the needy:

“It’s the crumbs off our tables that we offer these countries.”

It seems obvious to Bono and President Carter that America offers “crumbs” because the governments of most other wealthy countries distribute a larger percentage of their nations’ wealth in foreign aid. Yes, the U.S. government gave out $20 billion last year, much more than other countries give, but that’s only because we are so stupendously wealthy. If you calculate foreign aid as a percentage of our wealth, the United States gives much less than others.

Actress Angelina Jolie calls that “really disgusting” in my new TV special, titled “Cheap in America.” “ABC News” will broadcast it tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 10 p.m. — sorry — I know some of you are reading this column after that). Jolie goes on to say, “I think most American people, you know, really do think we give more. And I know that they would if they could understand how little they give and how much more we can afford to give, absolutely, without even noticing.”

But wait a second … when talking aid, why do Jolie and the others talk just about what the government gives? Why conflate America with our government? America is the people.

Jolie could look to herself as an example of the generous American. She gives weeks of her time and millions of her own dollars to charities.

That’s an old quote from Angelina and it’s reference to the American Goverment, not the people.

George Clooney is one of the most interesting people in hollywood right now. It’s always fun to watch him because he is really smart and funny.I like the way he likes to make fun of himself and this all star-system he lives in.As for his relationship with Brad ,i like the way they tease each other,it shows that they both have humor.Let’s not forget that both of them have the best to say for each other in every opportunity, like here:
CLOONEY: A great guy. I mean a great, truly great guy.

KING: Do you like working with him?

CLOONEY: Love working with him.

They are both respectful actors with many serious interests in their lives, and i don’t think that anyone could believe that they truly care about whose got the “sexiest man alive”title. They just joke about it and that’s all.A joke.

I love the jokes between the two of them

George Clooney is one of the most interesting people in hollywood right now
======================================================

Are you serious? Clooney has got to be one of the most boring people in HW right now. Clooney goes on interviews and says the same damn thing every.single.time. I think I’ve heard that Matt campaigned hard for SMA thing about 5x’s now.

The Good German is going to be another bomb for Clooney. The movie is horrible to the point of people in the screenings laughing out loud at it.

Clooney’s a poser. His whole trip to Darfur wasn’t because he all of a sudden decided he wanted to go. He went because George wants in with the Bono’s , Brad’s and Angelina’s. Hell, Matt Damon went to Africa so George had to go. Always on someone else’s urging or coat tails. Just watch how comitted Clooney will be for Africa and specifically Darfur. That will be his father Nick’s cause not George’s.

Clooney is a famwhore of the highest order.

Huh? Says

That’s your opinion and i respect that.Mine is different.

I bet Brad loved that he could get the ad in Variety when Clooney couldn’t.
====================================================

I think that was the whole point. Remember who the big dog really is, George. heh

I have to agree about George though, he is a bit of the famwhore. He campaigned so hard for that Oscar, his covers on VF and the SMA title. I also get the vibe that George has this weird love/hate thing with Brad. I think he likes him, wants to be like him, and yet is jealous of the attention and respect that Brad receives.

Brad has been extremly succesful with his production company, George had to close his and start anew, etc., etc.

Oops..meant famewhore…not fam-***** (read the post above) like in family which we know George doesn’t want. lol.

Clooney is also a DRUNK too

I also get the vibe that George has this weird love/hate thing with Brad.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I agree with this. The public loves Brad in a way that George has never experienced. I think too that Clooney is stuck in that frat boy mentality while everyone around him has moved on with family and kids. Clooney is looking to stay relevant so he attaches himself to these people’s causes.

live them alone, he and brad are one of the tre men left in hollywood

true men

Clooney’s an a**!

Enough with him already. He’s so overexposed. He doesn’t know when to stop. Clooney’s an older Ben Affleck to me.

haven’t read the thread yet but I’d like to say……

Listen, you dried up coon-eyed closet homo’ I don’t even want to begin to know WHY you’re once again the sexiest man alive, concidering that you look like you’re on the worst side of 50. And I don’t know WHO you had to gratify orally to get it. Nor do I care how chummy you and Brad may be *cough* NOT *cough*

But let me tell you, you acted like the immature d*uche that you are. All that “we joke with each other’, Brad is used to this back and forth childish game
and no doubt had a laugh. But I’m NOT Brad, I’m a fan, I don’t like this last media stunt that you pulled. Nationwide. Reminds me too much of someone else. See, Brad doesn’t need the publicty like you do, that’s why you escalated it the way you did.

You made fun of his old pictures, fine we all do that with our old yearbooks, but you come acoss as a childish jealous man, got a mancrush do we? ANY picture of his looks 10 xs better than you look, haved looked or ever WILL look in your life. LEAVE MY BRADLEY ALONE!

You think you’re the head of this century’s “Rat Pack” but look out, you’ll be marching alone

Please people, PEOPLE. George has been politically active and an outspoken progressive for as long as he’s been famous. He is always the first to go toe to toe with anyone who steps outta line, he’s smacked Bill O’Reilly upside the head enumerable times, he was the first to address the papzi’s getting out of control (re Princess Diana’s death), he started talking about Darfur long before others were — his films Syriana was an expose of the whole govt/oil/war deal, Good Night and Good Luck inspired many to start speaking out about BushCo (see Keith Olberman), he’s always entered the political fray without a second’s hesitation…and he does it for several reasons…he’s smart, he cares about people, and he loves his country. I’d advise everyone to read George’s GQ interview from a few years back to get the gist of the man…he’s from a good family that was morally conscientious and sensitive to race and social issues, in Kentucky of all places..his father Nick is his hero (as a kid, George remembers his Dad, a local newscaster, cussing people out and getting up from parties and leaving when someone would say the n-word, or something else particularly racist) - his Dad was a stand-up guy and that’s who he most admires. He is friends with people that are very much like his Dad, politically aware, socially conscious good men like Brad, like Matt. He’s not too hard to figure out. I for one, have always loved George.

I just wish he’d get his damn teeth fixed.

Sorry AG, lolol.

Save Darfur @ 11/29/2006 at 7:53 am

They’re done. They won’t be doing any Ocean’s movies anymore and if Brad hadn’t agreed to do this last one it wouldn’t of gotten made. George did it for the money. It’s the only film that’s ever made $$ for him. George’s films always flop with the exception of The Perfect Storm.

Clooney hasn’t figured out yet that just because you own a production company doesn’t mean you have to star in almost every single film. I saw George’s Syriana DVD on sale for $3.99. LMAO

The Good German looks horrible and poor Cate she’s going to get raked over the coals for this one.

Save Darfur @ 11/29/2006 at 7:56 am

—————————————————————————————

No he didn’t. George got involved with the One campaign because of Brad. He’s said this over and over again. That he was embarassed to say he was unaware and uninvolved.

George once O’Reilly went after him and asked him on his show numerous times backed off and out. He’s admitted because it hurt his career. George is about George and if something can get him a cover, a sound bite, or his mug all over the news he’ll do it.

Well, George did overexpose himself. Clooney lobbied *very* hard for that Oscar to the point of nauseum.

Clooney’s the type of guy who you can take in small dosages. The one knock on Clooney has always been that he stays current with the situation at hand and has no follow up. He gets on a bandwagon and then is gone. He doesn’t commit himself to the hard work like say an Angelina Jolie. Jolie’s been committed to her causes for 6 going on 7 yrs to the point that she’s worked with Congress and the Senate to get laws enacted and bills passed. I’d be shocked to see George do that kind of work. The hard, roll up your sleeves and get down into it work.

While O’Reilly may be a loudmouth he was right about The Red Cross and corruption was exposed.

Clooney had nothing to do with Africa until Brad. Clooney said that he became involved because of Brad during the Ocean’s shoot in Italy. The question is how committed is George really? Will he follow through when it’s no longer the hot topic?

The measure of a man isn’t what he does when someone is looking, it’s what he does when they aren’t.

TEAM CLOONEY!!!!

Good morning, everyone!

Re: Clooney
We liked him in ER, and surprised he left at the hight of his popularity. Then he made a tricky transition to film which he did very well. Regarding Brad, I think I saw an interview that George also auditioned for Thelma and Louise which was taken by Brad, which shot him to fame. George missed that chance to Brad. GC had to do many TV things and took him very long to ‘make it’ to the top. Now that he got an Oscar before Brad, and now this two-time award for what’s it’s worth, he finally feels ‘caught up’ maybe. So yes I think there is a bit of love-hate LOL On the other hand in the family department, Brad again is far ahead of him, but again I don’t think GC is interested in getting what Brad has (tons of kids and wife).

Re: “Minivan majority”— Minivan and Lilyan
I agree with you both. I do fit Lilyan’s description of over-40 married with two kids, working mom who support Angie and despise Aniston. In Angie’s youth and wild days I never really paid attention except for her films, she was sort of like Linsay L etc. she was young. It was only after she started adopting, getting involved in her charity work, then getting bashed by Aniston’s fans after hooking up with Brad, that I really took an interest and now support her whole-heartedly. I didn’t know about Aniston at all except she being married to Brad and that she was a TV actress (I don’t watch sitcoms). Now with all what she did to run a fake sympathy campaign I loathe her personality and everything she stands for.

Good morning, good people. I’m with Cliniqua. I have always had a soft spot for George (sorry, but waaaay before I came to like the Braddy Daddy). I think it is connected to his birth family. Plus I think he looks awfully good in a tux.
That said, my perpetual SMA is Pierce Brosnan, and that has a lot to do with how he is so connected to his five kids and his role as nurturer during the illness of his first wife, Cassandra. Maybe that’s a theme for me. Brad to me is soooo much sexier now; when I see him with Mad or Z or the People Mag pic of him holding the newborn Shi, he is sex on a stick. Of course fatherhood does not work in all cases (FedX, Ryan, Jude — okay, Jude is cute, but not sexy to me).

The mini-van majority is, like NASCAR dads or soccer moms, just a mediaworld shorthand for a point of view — not a descriptor of actual people. The siding of the m-vm with X is also linked, as has been said here before, to X’s TVQ — she was likeable on Friends (if that sort of thing is your pleasure), and she was the almost-”normal” looking girl who bagged the screen hunk. I have never liked a single so-called America’s Sweetheart, from Meg Ryan on, and I never paid too much attention to X. I have always liked AJ, even at her edgiest, but I admire her now enormously. I think she does not run her life by focus group approval, and that, of course, annoys the folks who have been trained by the entertainment industry to consume the blandest possible pablum.

Oh I do cliniqua, every night at 8 and 12 and in my dreams…*sigh* No, I see what you’re saying I’m just playing around. But to be fair, I don’t remember him every saying that George or “Good Luck and Good Night” inspired him to speak out against this administration. His first special comment was right after Hurricane Katrina. Murrow is his mentor, he even received his award for the fantastic reporting he did on ground zero when 9/11 happened, it was the radio though.

On topic: “The Rev. Ted” oh Brad lol

On GC, I still thinks he is a famewh**re of the highest order .
Brad had been kind and took out an ad with a very nice early year photo of GC . But GC had to get Brad on his corniest picture to broadcast to everyone on DL show. Now..that I think is his dig at Brad - trying to tell people ..see Brad who you voted twice as SMA is a cornball kid. You fans of GC might think it’s a good joke but I think it’s a very bad taste move on GC part.

Excellent Post and you’re absolutely right. There is definately a perceptual saliency happening here….people putting more value in the information available to them or information they choose to seek out and inadvertently contruct a reality around it. Majority of the blogs and Tabloids never have good things to say about the JPs….giving the illusion that this is reality. I’ll admit, I have felt that way to but then I look around me and see that majority of the people I know don’t follow gossip let alone blog about it (lol…yeah, yeah….I know. Just call me a rebel, blacksheep….whatever). The JPs are respected where it really matters and I am glad it’s not the pages of the weekly tabloids.

Minivan
I asked the exact same question with regards to Oprah and her audience. I mean the woman is the antithesis of what her audience is. Maria gave me an answer I believe can be applied here also. Women love Oprah because of how she makes them FEEL. With Jennifer Aniston, they don’t feel threatened.

In the past, women had only two choices, motherhood or career. It wasn’t until recently We see that it doesn’t have to be either/or….we can have both. Of course, the reality is you can barely have both. At some point, one is gonna give and often times, it is the career that suffers. Being a mother is a difficult but fufilling task….or so we’ve been programmed to believe (and I am not saying it isn’t) This is how some women who have choosen motherhood rationalize their choice. Oh sure, these same women applaud others who choose their career…”Yes, you show them women are more than baby machines, we have brains too” but deep down, since they feel motherhood is they harder task, choosing a career is a cop out…which makes them feel superior. Jennifer Aniston is also the kind of person, who, had she become a mother, would not hesitate to talk about the trials and tribulations of motherhood on the pages of the glossy mags (Her interview on Marriage is hard….anyone?). Of course, this will also make the women feel good….”If Jen with all her money can feel that way, then I am good.” Either way….they win. In my opinion, Jennifer Aniston is a poster child for the minivan majority NOT because she is like them but because she makes them feel adequate or superior in their choices. Angelina Jolie on the other hand….well, need I say more?

Huh…..I hope no one sees this as a bash against mothers because it isn’t. Why, I’d never do that…..I have a mother.

piper, with a low @ 11/29/2006 at 9:18 am

I like George Clooney. And I am pro anyone who encourages Brad’s goofball side and since Clooney is the only one in HW fostering it, he’s cool with me. I have stated my opinion dozens of times regarding the ‘Hollywood friend’ comment; it would repetitive and redundant to state it again. But Clooney/Pitt’s friendship is among the better ones in Hollywood; I mean, look at Paris/Nicole/Lindsey/Britney/ Mischa/ Olsen twins/ Kimberly S., etc. These people taint the meaning of the word, IMO.

If Clooney chose not to blab about Pitt, especially if the person prying has questionable motives, then his glib answers shouldn’t be held against him. I know that when people ask me about other people’s business, I get very short and curt, because 1) If they are truly interested in the other person, they need to talk to that person directly and 2) My answers/observations/analysis of the other person’s life should be between me and the other person, not via Larry King soundbites.

And I doubt that Brad asked Clooney for his advice about Angelina. But if he did, Clooney wouldn’t broadcast this because he is a man. Only men who are out to sell something pontificate about what another man, or a close friend, should do. Donald Trump and Michael Douglas did that; but they were also shilling products too.

Oh by the way….the reason I am not saying much to defend my man is because….is because I…don’t feel the need to…huh….alright you scare me okay? You all scare me. So I’m just gonna….you…know…take a back seat on this one. Yeah, I am chicken, I am a coward…whatever.

Maniston, the Marie Claire has Ashley Judd on the cover, I will type in the part that references Angie later this morning.

Lylian and Malaya, thanks for making the points better than I did, I always enjoy your posts.
Minivan majority is a phrase that Lainey coined that seems to have taken a life of its own, even that is generalisation.

I am a divorced mother of three, have kids that were in soccer and dance. According to the tabloids, I am supposed to feel sorry for Jennifer and not like Angie, the opposite happen to be true for me and most people that I know. I cannot stand people with the victim mentality, always poor me even when they are the pepertrators, they find a way to make themselves the victim.

Angie on the other hand has a way of picking herself up no matter what life throws at her, she is busy living life, she has so much passion for life that she does not waste a minute feeling sorry for herself, and I could relate to that.

You guys are amazing! First, you pick apart women who you think “might” not like Angie. If you guys are so “secure” in yourselves, why attack a group of women? I think you all are afraid that the public might not like your precious Angie…which very well may happen. How could you people sit there, and put people down because they might not like Angie? Who the hell are you? You sit there like you are so powerful and mighty, well guess what? All you do is sit in front of a computer for hours and idolize celebrities. That’s it. You contribute nothing more to society!!

As for hating on George Clooney. What has he done wrong? NOTHING!! They apparently have playful bantering going back and forth, but because it doesn’t look favorably to Brad, George is an a$$??? C’mon people!! They are kidding each other. And like someone said, Brad did it first with the newspaper ad. You guys need to lighten up and not take your worshipping so seriously. I’m sure Brad laughed (I actually can’t believe I am defending him here).

Now, a question for all of you. Do you worship in Church the way you do here? Because if any of you are Christians, you do not act very Christian-like. Name calling, idol worship, judging….I’m not saying that anyone should be perfect, but man, you guys need help.

And, don’t bother writing me threats or calling me names, etc. I will not see any of your comments. So, in the words of John Bon Jovi….Have a Nice Day!!

African Girl, don’t be scared of me hun, I got yo’ back lol I adore GC although I don’t want him but I am no hater. He’s on The Daily Show tonight :)

I dislike woman who feel that they are victimized and feel sorry about every sinlge negative event that happen in their life.
Angie is a polar opposite of JA . Angie represents the “can do” , “nothing is impossible” spirit .

Everyone who feel sorry about their own life should wake up and count their blessings instead , give thanks and start the day with a positive happy note. Life will probably be a lot happier for their spouse and their children.

Lohan is desperate to win an Oscar. Angie never campaigned for it and still got one. She was even willing to sell her Oscar to raise money for charity until someone talked her out of it because the Oscar jury would take it as an insult.

Lohan is a wannabe Angie. Angie was never a wannabe anything. She was herself and always has been herself.

EXCELLENT POST! I think we need to redifine what the minivan majority as women who are so insecure, they need others to validate them. Going off and living their lives on their own terms is a foreign concept to them. So not all women who are mothers (stay at home or not) are minivan majority.

I actually can’t believe why should anyone defend him.Things are as simple as you described it.

I like GC. I think he is living life on his own terms the same as B and A. GC is a Hollywood playa and he knows the game. He knows when to be quiet and when to speak up. I think GC and BP have a friendship that is define by only them and not the Public. I respect Men who are able to bond and yet keep their distance and respect other people’s lives. Some women can learn from them. I think people are seeing too many conspiracies around each corner. Live and let live. However, I don’t think people should come here on their moral high horse and tell other people how to live their lives and who they should admire. People have vary degrees of like for particular celebrities and it should not be an indication of if that celebrity is for or against B and A. I am sure that most of the fans on this site live very productive lives and to make a general attack is mean spirited and baseless.

get a grip mary @ 11/29/2006 at 9:49 am

MARY = Not every one is a Christian or Catholic in this country. What do people not understand about America being a melting pot?

Also, the reason some people don’t like George is not because of this one joke. It’s because of multiple reasons that have stacked up against him. It’s not one incident but a pattern of instances and examples about how George behaves.

I haven’t liked Okra in a long time. Even before Jen Aniston was touted as Okra’s best friend. There are multiple examples that I could tell why I don’t like her but JA’s appearance was what pushed me over the edge and made me sure that I did not like Okra.

If you don’t feel like doing it, that’s fine AG. I’m willing to do it. No ulterior motives, I promise.

It just bugs me that people are willing to see the worst in Clooney when he didn’t engage in the same behavior as X’s celebrity friends. Remember the True Hollywood Story about X and how it pissed off a lot of us because it was all gushy drivel designed to pump her up? BP didn’t counter with his own THS, compiled with soundbites from A-List celebs. No… people like Anthony Hopkins, Michael Rappaport, Cate Blanchett, and yes, even Clooney spoke of Brad in very kind and warm terms during a time when the mere mention of his name was almost considered an expletive.

IMO, the state of emergency/crisis period for Brad is over; he’s with Angelina, he’s enjoying parenthood, and he’s moving forward. Isn’t the return to normalcy what most of us want for him? And one aspect of normalcy is for Clooney to pull pranks. Remember when Clooney took a dump in the litterbox while he was housesitting for a friend?

Cheesy BP pics, which were similar to the ones showcased in People’s When the Stars were Young issue, is pretty darn tame, IMO.

Lol….thank you. I just don’t think this GC thing is that serious. They have a history of playing pranks with each other. When GC said BP was just his Hollywood friend, the press was pressing him for intimate details about BP’s relationship with AJ. Anything he said would have been twisted to fit the scenerio they want…even now, aren’t his words being twisted? This is George Clooney….okay, maybe he hasn’t been tabloid fooder for the past year, it doesn’t mean he is lacking publicity.

Thank you! Well said and I SO totally agree. I’m fatiqued with the tude that GC can’t say his friends name without it meaning a plug for himself. If anything I think it’s a plug FOR Brad, and displays the opposite of what haters want people to believe which is George and Brad AREN’T close, and that its because GC took some kind of issue with BP’s leaving the past and choosing a new future. They’re friends and people need to cease tripping about that.

I think their little pranks are funny. “Rev. Ted” lol Oh that Brad. :)

George and Jon should be very entertaining tonight considering Jon’s “crush” on him lol Did you see him in the opening skit when Jon hosted the Oscars? They were in bed together :)

I never hear men gush about their friends…I can’t ever imagine George or Brad saying, “Yeah, we’re total BFFs!”

good morning everybody! since i see AG is around, i’ll stifle the clooney jokes (heaven knows i’ve got thousands!). i see there’s minivan talk, famewhoring, new orleans rumors, etc. etc. in the middle of all this, i have a simple request: folks can we please take just a few moments and give a big hand of appreciation to Father Time? seriously. these early pictures of brad are cutesy and almost nauseating. but hasn’t Father Time worked some marvelous magic on this overly pretty boy and turned him into a jaw-dropping, panty-steaming, delicious feast of a man? i mean, old FT even did a little good with clooney along the way…

bravo! bravo! Father Time your magic worked very well on braddy!

I saw it last night and it was fun. Brad taking out an ad while he was in India, priceless LOL!!!! It’s not that serious people, it’s just a running gag Brad & George has had for yeaaaaars. How some of you can’t see it is beyond me. And anger towards George, please he’s the last person in Hollywood to be angry with. There are plenty of, miserable, humorless actors in Hollywood (*cough* Jude Law, Tom Cruise *cough) who swear they are the second coming of Sir Laurence Olivier, please get over yourselves and crack a real smile. George’s “fame” came late in life so he has a cynical view about the whole system.
George & Brad are part of a group of A list actor’s that get along and have respect for each other. It’s natural that they would speak about each other. It’s like the years of friendship that Robert Redford & Paul Newman has and they are still at it with the gags to this day. I can’t imagine a fan of Robert Redfords blasting into Paul Newman and calling him a fameho because Neman described the latest prank Redford pulled on him. OY!

I still think that Oprah should have the principal cast of The Good Shepherd. She would have 3 of the most interesting people in the film industry on her show at one time.

gitane ITA Father Time!

Brad has matured into a very attractive man, AFTER he hooked up with Angie and became a father. He also became more masculine looking, not pretty. If you spend 24/7 with the epitome of femininity, Angie, there is no way a man can stay pretty LOL She is no doubt by far the most beautiful woman inside and out, Brad has ever been with. Well done, Brad!

++++

Brava Indie! I’ve hated the phrase/label “minivan majority” ever since that gossip poacher Lainy first used it and it somehow tagged anyone who drives a van and watches Oprah as anti Angelina. I don’t drive a van, and I don’t watch Oprah enough to be called even a semi-regular, but I do know people who DO tool their kids around in SOCCER MOM-HONOR ROLL stickered guzzlers, and also never miss a day of genuflecting in front of the tube when OW is on her throne, and who also happen to love Angelina and will tell anyone who’ll listen they do. They love her for her care and concern of others and especially mothers and children. They get that. They admire her honesty about her life and her courage to do what she felt was right for her come what may. They love Angelina & Brad’s devotion to one another and the family they’ve created. Angelina I don’t think would have one problem showing up and dicussing the things important to her no matter the forum, and contrary to what some believe, or want to believe, she’d get the loudest applause, and probably a standing ovation, and the loudest to cheer, and first on their feet would no doubt in my mind be those from the “minivan majority.”

Good morning everyone . Thank you for providiing me endless hours of great reading on this wonderful JJ site.

There are numerous discussions or writeup of how popular JA is compared to Angelina. I never really get it so I went on a fact finding mission . Would you like to know the true stats of popularity of Brad Angelina or JA . Not that is matters as we all know amongst BA fans that there are alot of silent majority who do not blog or read tabs . They do their own research . Here’re the data

ON GOOGLE : Angelina search volume doubles that of JA . This dates back to year 2004 and tallied to date. The only 2 events that resulted in JA overtaking AJ in serach volume were 1. BP&JA divorce news in Jan 2005 and 2. JA “topless” man of the year GQ news in Dec 2005 . For all other months , AJ’s search volume doubles than of JA .

ON YAHOO : AJ has been on the TOP 5 (1-5) buzz actor search list - AJ was on chart for 890 days . JA within the top 20 ( between 10-20) -JA was on chart for 178 days

** FYI - Brad isn’t on Yahoo Top 20 buzz actor search chart but BP is on Google, searches. Ranking 3 of them, AJ’s search volume doubles that of JA and BP search volume in between AJ and JA.

There data are used by Marketers throughout the world to position that marketing strategies. There you have it, the FACT remains why media , advertisers and others are still fasinated with Brad and Angelina because they are the movers and leaders of searches .

Additional Info @ 11/29/2006 at 11:35 am

Brad was entered in the GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS as the most searched for actor in 2005.

Oprah has burnt her bridge with William Bradley.

Look, Brad was squirming in his chair when Oprah was interviewing him for ‘Troy,’ and fawning all over ‘The Man,’ (and he was still married to her at that time!) so imagine if you will, how an interview TODAY would go over with either Brad or Angie.

Answer: AWKWARD. Possibly two answers: AWKWARD & PHONEY. Oprah can do both very well when she wants to (see Oprah’s two Maniston interviews). But Brad and Angelina are very honest and genuine people, that in my opinion, don’t mesh very well with the Oprahs of this world (see phoney blowhards). Even when Brad was on her show back in the day, I sensed it. Those two are not a good fit, ditto Angelina and Oprah (she had AJ on once, a couple years ago via sattelite about Darfur refugees I think - AJ was mesmerizing to O’s audience, you could hear a pin drop…she spoke very eloquently about their plight and was quite emotional in her re-telling of what she had seen - she was on the verge of tears…) when she was done…they panned back to Oprah, and Oprah seemed disconnected and just ‘off’ to me — very businesslike, and boom then she was off to the next segment.

It’s funny…I have never fully analyzed why until now…it’s because Oprah is a phony, and I think Brad and Angie, being the genuine people they are have a difficult time playing games with phony people who are trying to present themselves a certain way.

How come we can’t post under the Brad thread?

Brad looks so much better today than back then. Come to think of it, George looks better today as well even with all the ruggedness thrown in. He reminds me of a younger Cary Grant & Sean Connery mixed together. They both had that it factor that GC has. Everyone has their preference. When people bash Brad or Angelina, all hell breaks loose but these are the same who bash GC & for what? What will you all say when Brad playfully gets back at George? I guess the Clooney fans will say that Brad is a fameho, cheater, no personality, can’t get publicity without mentioning George, jealous that George has an Oscar as does his Angelina, etc……
Don’t you see how ridiculous the pettiness is? It’s the exact opposite of what Brad & George has. They probably don’t get to see each other that much so these pranks are ways of getting in touch with each other. Ha HA

Clooney disliker not hater @ 11/29/2006 at 11:48 am

The reason why some of us don’t like GC isn’t because of this joke. I can take joke and tell a few too. That’s not why I don’t like GC.

Here’s my reason for my dislike of Clooney.

The “Save Darfur” thing. Clooney goes to Darfur for a week with his father and a camera and sees the situation. Then he goes on Oprah and says “Hey look at me helping and Save Darfur”. Then he goes on CNN and Wolf Blitzer interviews him. The basic summary of the interview was “Hey look at me on a serious news channel and Save Darfur”. Then he goes to rally in D.C. and says “Hey all you people listen to me and Save Darfur”. He dresses up in a suit and goes to UN meeting and says “Save Darfur”.

What he basically did was go on multiple media outlets and said “Save Darfur”. He took his father with him to lend him credence and gravitas that he doesn’t really have on his own. What has Clooney done to really help Darfur? Heck, Matt Damon has done more for Africa (setting up a charity to provide people in Africa with clean water and organized an event at TIFF to raise money) and yet he barely toots his own horn.

Clooney is basically one of those people who says a lot things that ideally make sense yet he never takes actions to actually do something about those causes that he tries to champion. Any star can go multiple media outlets and say the same thing.

What bothers me is the perception is that Clooney is this great intellectual person who is socially aware and politically active. He plays up that image himself. He never does the actual work and but he’s always willing to put himself front and center to talk about how he cares about the issues.

He’s basically an “empty suit”. I want to know what he is truly done to help. He talks about politics and issues in an idealistic way rather than being realistic.

He talks about genocide is wrong and we need to help stop the spread of AIDs.

Good. I agree.

But everyone knows that. Just because he says the same thing that everyone believes in does not make him some profound intellectual. He never gives the how part of the questions. He’ll never get into the gritty details.

And I’m not even going to get into why Jake should have won the Oscar for Brokeback Mountain. And I’m not even a huge Jake fan. Seriously.

You’re welcome, AG.

I think that we all have to remember that we did agree with the way BP handled the divorce. We all saw that he did the complete opposite of what X did and respected him for it. And we should throw some respect toward Clooney’s way because he didn’t give up any juicy info about BA, he didn’t try to fan any flames regarding the split and subsequent hookup, and if anything, he tried to bring some levity to the whole situation.

IMO, he has never said anything at the expense of BP or AJ. And for those who were offended by something he said in the past, I beseech them to take a hard look at where and when these hard feelings started. I remember the ‘HW friend’ quote being harped on by Andrea Jackson on the Daily Buzz and she’s a snarky, mega b&tch who never misses an opportunity to diss BP, AJ, or even X. Her slant will never color my perception of things and I am sure that there are numerous media types that you all feel the same way about.

Seriously, Clooney’s public appearences are miniscule snippets of time; none of us know how tight Clooney really is. I mean, he could be ‘Crazy Uncle George’ to the kids for all we know. Remember, the press doesn’t know as much as they think. they do.

Brad is right. Clooney is the best at how to play the Hollywood game. That’s why he’s got so many people in awe of him. His humor is also smarmy at best , like someone else mentioned.

And he needs to stop with the lame Batman Begins , Sexiest Man Alive, and Matt Damon jokes. All of them. It’s getting pretty old and it’s not funny once you tell it again for the millionth time. Not that it was funny the first time around.

IMO Brad shouldn’t have a grudge for something that was all of nothing. I have never understood how/why anyone came away with feeling GC’s description of he and BP’s friendship was negative. How was what George Clooney said on LARRY KING it a slight, or insult? I thought George simply put it out there that he and Brad Pitt are two men who met because of the business they’re in, who like each other, and who ARE friends just not best friends. Personally I think they’re closer than they like to publically admit, and for the the very reasons GC downplayed that on LK. I got the feeling that he was trying to be polite while being protective as LK was trying to delve into Brangelina biz, and I don’t blame GC trying to stear clear as much as possible because I DO think he’s been privy to more than some think. IMO

MANISTON- here’s the excerpt from Marie Claire referencing Angie:

Everyone that I’ve talked to in Washington, including my husband, George Stephanopolous, has a story about his trepidation in meeting Angelina Jolie. For some there will, of course, be an erection -but meeting of the minds? Come on, the Billy Bob-blood-in-a-vial-wearing bisexual sexpot in leather motor cycle pants as a modern day Mother Theresa? But Ms Jolie is, in fact the REAL DEAL. In her simple St.John suits, she holds her own at every summit, meeting and hearing with a vast knowledge and understanding of major global concerns. And when she gets frustrated with all the red tapes associated with fundraising, she just just goes right to her own ATM and disperses millions. This is a woman who has single handedly doubled the number of child adoptions in Ethiopia. And she made the World Econmic Forum seem so cool! Afterward, even the most statesmanlike were heard whispering into their cell phones, “You’re never going to believe who I met today!”

Washington is desperate for Angelina and her boyfriend to buy real estate in Georgetown-not because of her succulent lips and sinful bod, but because she is a macro force when it comes to mobilizing resources.
*********************************************************************

It is not just Wentworth Ali, Annie Leibowitz said how cool Angie is, even the gossip show presenters are enamoured by Angie outside their jobs, Lara Spencer of the Insider in a magazine interview said Angie was the actress she most wanted to have a sit down with and talk about family and children. Guliani Depandi of E, promoting her book on how women should learn to think like men, when asked a woman that does that she said Angelina, and she said that is why Brad will never leave because he knows she can take care of herself. There are so many women out there that I read about who respect Angelina even the tabloid editors have a grudging respect for the way she takes control of her life. How many actresses older or younger than Angelina that can pilot a plane.

Jared, where is BAMZS? Yesterday I read that you had pictures of them in New Orleans, Angie walking down the streets.

This has been one of the most intelligent discussions I ‘ve read on this blog since I starting coming here in January. No name calling, ugly slurs, just people offering their opinons and accepting what others had to say. Thank you. I have enjoyed reading what most of you had to say today. I too am frightened to post sometimes, because the responses can be so hateful. Today was a good day.

From people.com

A judge in Malawi will permit a coalition of 67 human-rights groups to move forward with their legal challenge to Madonna’s adoption of 1-year-old David Banda – and allow them to help decide if the singer is a fit mother.

In his Wednesday ruling in the Malawian capital, Judge Andrew Nyirenda said the human-rights organizations could be viewed as “friends of the court.”

The groups can therefore pursue the application for a full review of an interim 18-month custody order that allowed Madonna to take the child out of the country. The groups’ members can also be party to the assessment of the pop singer’s fitness as a mother.

“We want to be joined as a party to the assessment because we have a lot of legal issues we want to raise,” Justin Dzonzi of the coalition told reporters last month.

The groups had argued that the Malawian government cut legal corners to “fast-track” the adoption, and said regulations must be followed to protect children, the Associated Press reports.

Madonna has denied that she was given VIP treatment.

David is currently living with Madonna and her family in London. “David is amazing,” Madonna, speaking via satellite from a TV studio in London, said during an October interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“What really surprises me is how great my children are with him and how he’s transitioned so easily from living in Africa in an orphanage to living in our house,” she said.

In another setback to the pop star, her Nov. 22 NBC TV special attracted only 4.6 million viewers nationwide, according to the Nielsen ratings, The Washington Post reports.

Malibumom @ 11/29/2006 at 1:15 pm

The reason I posted the article above is because I think this is a bad thing. I don’t think it’s necessarily good for other people who may have pre-conceived notions regarding certain celebs to judge whether they are fit or unfit as parents. I think Madonna’s other 2 kids are more of an indication of what type of mom she is. I don’t like her as a celebrity-I do not like the way the issue with David Banda was handled but it would not be right for me to say because she received prefreential treatment, she is an unfit mom. I would not want her to raise my kids, but she and I are totally different people. That baby will be used to Madonna and used to the love she is giving him. It would be wrong to take the child away at this point. Too bad she didn’t get some advice from Angelina. I believe Angie is totally detailed and focused when it comes to adoption and I know she understands fully the laws of whatever country she considers adopting in. Sometimes we can be so catty until we look ignorant.

Stubborness? Pride? conceit? I dont know but.. this is a shame that it is come to this. All I can think of is that poor child.

Malibumom & Alana

I’m not a Madonna fan and never have been, but I think these org’s are using David to assert control. They’re usurping even his own birth fathers rights in what I see as a powerplay. They want final say even over what the courts hand down and to me what they’re trying to do is just as wrong as what they suggest Madonna has done. They’d rather a kid stay within the Malawai orphanage system than ever give up control and power and that’s sad for the children. Maybe Madonna should just say to them “ok, you win, take the child back and let the chips fall were they may regarding your future as so-called children advocacy orgs.” At this point I don’t think anyone would blame Madonna for relinquishing her role in David’s life, and ceasing the adoption of him. I might sound cold, but it’s colder for these groups to continue to disrupt David’s life with the Ritchies.

Can someone tell me when Angelina is supposed to be on Larry King? I saw someone make reference to it earlier.

Ace Tomato - I’m with you all the way. Mini-van moms can relate much better to Brad & Angie than Brad & JA. Seeing a hot, sexy guy who is totally devoted to his family, well - that just makes Brad hotter! And Angie didn’t break up any marriage, Jen did that on her own when she refused to give that man a baby. She needs psychiatric evaluation for that one. Now she’s going to be reduced to Dancing with the Stars…

I think the whole practical joke thing between Brad & George is funny. Brad started it, you didn’t think George wouldn’t retaliate did you?

Another thing, I don’t understand why some celebs can’tbe content. I would gladly stop everything and just raise my kids. The important thing is for the children to turn out ok-This my sound cheesy, but I am really happiest when my house is in perfect order, dinner is ready when my kids walk through the door, and when my husband can come home early.

i don’t believe this. a coalition of 67 human rights groups? that’s a damn shame! is this really about what’s best for david or is it about some vendetta against madonna specifically or celebrity international adoptions in general? because it’s not about david. it’s not about what’s best for him at all and that’s what makes this whole situation suck.

Won’t say I’m dead on, but I will say that it really feels like they (67 Malawi orphan control orgs posing as human rights orgs) considered themselves the final word in this childs life. They weren’t consulted and ego’s are ruling the day while that kid’s future hangs in the balance and that sucks.

Because like Malibumom says, it’s about power and control. 67 group are all vying for a piece of the pie. I’m sure that somewhere down under the muck they feel it’s all being done for the kids, but human nature gets in the way and the struggle to be seen above the rest as the big dog when it comes to getting these kids taken care of oftentimes blinds them to the bigger picture and that’s when more red tape, more bureaucratic bull……the very things that usually bind THEM up (oh the irony!) gets created. When people who are considering adoption in Malawai see this, they’re going to throw their hands up and move on to a place that at least tries to keep the child the focus while balancing the power instead of abusing it. IMO

I hate to say this, but it’s my opinion that the core of suffering in third world nations is caused by those who want power and control. That’s why ppl like the Jolie-Pitts probably have to be extremely careful how they give and to whom. Corruption is just rampant and it is disheartening. Let’s not forget the tons of food that rotten and or was maggot infested because it sat around in storage bins because the “powers that be” would NOT give the OK for it to be distributed to the starving. Several of my friends go to Jamaica every year with their church. They take medicine, clothes. . . it all gets confiscated at the airport. One guy in particular told me about how he literally gave his shift off his back and all of his clothes in his luggage because the ppl begged for them. And Yes, Jamaica has som really poor areas-

I want to drink George Clooney with a spoon.

Imagine me, him and Brad: together.

OMG!!!!!

So sad to hear about Madonna. If they cared so much about David, why were they not involved during this past year when he was in an orphanage?

How can going back to Malawi be good for him? With Madonna he has a life of access to good health, education (the best) and opportunities like Zahara Marley and Maddox to do something for him homeland.

What awful people these groups and they call themselves human “rights” groups? Give me a break.

I am sure Angie and Brad are devastated at the news since they care so much about adoptions.

Also re: Madonna - why don’t these “human rights groups” take David and care for him then?

Like another poster said somewhere I read, Madonna should give them David and pull her money invested in the Malawi orphanage and let these Human Rights groups do all the work since they care so much.

They don’t care about David one bit - if Madonna was not famous and super rich, they would have never gone after her.

God in the end will prove his point. And I hope these interest groups are exposed for what they are: opportunists who don’t care about children.

I wonder what Madonna will have to say about this.

Original jpf

there’s the rub. how many parents who were considering or in the process of adopting from malawi have pulled out because of this. the residency requirement is already a detriment. this power struggle puts up an even bigger wall.

George Clooney is one of the most interesting people in hollywood right now
======================================================

++++++++++++

Amen, sister/brother, amen.

Could someone - a Porgie fan - tell me exactly when Clooney got interested in Africa? IIRC it was after Brad called Bono and got involved…and after Brad and Angie hooked up.

I always thought that george and angelina would have been HOT together….steamy!

Original jpf, throughout 2005, after Brad and Aniston broke up and Brad took off with Angie, George was always answering questions about them. I remember someone was interviewing him during his Oscar campaign and he said: “I just want to say that I got somebody pregnant and it’s not Angelina Jolie”. This would be funny, only if it was done tastefully and said only once or twice. These comments were in addition to the 20 times he spoke about the pranks he pulled on Brad to the press, and dropping his name as if they were best friends or something. Also, don’t forget that it was George who said that Brad had committed to Ocean’s 13 when he hadn’t even sign a contract. George wanted the rumour to be in the press because George was desperate to get the movie done. Him and Steven Soderbergh. That’s why I was suprised when he turned around and said that him and Brad are “showbiz friends”, and looked really uncomfortable while doing it. Maybe they are, but if he didn’t blab so much about pretty boy Pitt and his lady love, the media wouldn’t ask him so many questions and wouldn’t think they were more than showbiz friends. George wants to be so clever and smart and used Brad’s name to be so witty *rolls eyes*, and then backpedals when people don’t find him so “charming”.

Anyone remember how the incident with gawker blew up in his face and people started making fun of him? He is a talented, funny man but the problem with George is that he thinks he’s way more intelligent and talented than what he really is. And that’s what a pretentious, smug person acts like.

That’s just my opinion. I used to like a lot before. All the overexposure, the magazine covers, and the Oscar that clearly went right to his head, killed a lot of the love I had for him. Now I just want him to go away for awhile.

mhmmmmm,

Brad and George SANDWICH.

I love their friendship.. Brad has came out of a sort of shall.

It’s all perception. You and I don’t see him in the same way, and I gather that Brad doesn’t either. I’d think that if he and Angelina saw his actions in the negative, he wouldn’t continue to do them because somewhere along the way he’d have gotten that message one way or another to cut it out. I doubt he would disrespect them by carrying on something he knows they don’t appreciate. Another telltale is the ad’s taken out by Brad Pitt for congratulating “his friend” in not one, but two entertainment mags. That’s not something you do for a person you find irritating, insulting, coattail hanging, or knowingly name dripping. JMHO.

George Clooney recently became interested in Africa because of Brad Pitt but remember George’s dad was an unfluential man who George said even in Kentucky in the 60’s would make a big stink if anyone badmouthed African-Americans.

He said he knew as a kid if eating at a restaurant and a racist remark was made against African-Americans, he knew that his dad would speak up and knew it was time to leave that restaurant.

George’s family was always socially involved. Africa is just a natural progression and evolution in social activism that was part of George’s life since childhood.

His aunt Rosemary Clooney was active as well. She was a Kennedy supporter etc.

George is from a family of activists.

I love George.

Sorry, but I find it all a plus and not weasely at all. I never fail to find on one site or another how George really doesn’t like BP, and doesn’t approve of his relationship with AJ. Here is excerpt from an interview with Ocean’s cast where they are talking about pranks:

Interview:

The whole gang is back!

Q: What were some of the pranks you pulled on set?

DAMON: (Turning to Clooney) That bumper sticker you put on Brad’s car on the last day of shooting’s good.

CLOONEY: That was good. You know, that was just getting him back. We did a few pranks. There were some antics… You see, Brad had done some dastardly things to me… You guys might have already heard the story, but when we were in Rome, we first got to Italy, Brad had a memo put out in Italian that said to all the Italian crew that Mr. Clooney would appreciate it if you would only engage him as Danny Ocean or Mr. Ocean, don’t look at him in the eyes.

DAMON: The memo was just as if George had written it.

CLOONEY: And [they] handed it out so it really sound like I was trying to stay in character, so for about a month that went around. Everywhere I went, it was like, ‘Okay, Mr. Ocean.’ until I finally said, ‘What the hell?’ And when I found out, when it got into the paper that I was like this diva that made all the crew call me Mr. Ocean, I felt like I had to get him. So I just put a bumper sticker on the back of his car that said, there were two… I put one on that went for a few days that said, ‘I’m gay and I vote…’ And then it was, ‘Small ***** on Board,’ right? And that ran for a few days too.

DAMON: That was right on the side door so as he drove through LA rush hour…

CLOONEY: [It was] on the passenger door.

DAMON: People were honking at him and waving. And he thinks it’s because he’s Brad Pitt and he’s waving back.

That was a cute video. I like Men with a sense of humor. Both BP and GC are class clowns and have a zest for life.

This is funny too especially given how close George is to Julia Roberts:

Q: Mr. Clooney, you had spoken before about friendships being formed on this set.

GEORGE CLOONEY: Did I say that? No this was actually a job, this one. I don’t think, did anybody get along in this? I don’t really remember.

DON CHEADLE: Just answer the question, sir.

CLOONEY: Shut up, man. Oh, Mr. Hotel Rwanda, Mr. Actor. I guess I like Carl because he’s older.

CHEADLE: He can’t fight back.

CLOONEY: He can’t fight as well. It was really, there was no camaraderie at all on the set on this one. Quite honestly, nobody, Brad set the tone, and he’s such a movie star it was very hard to… It was fun, we had a great time. Always, fun people, except for Julia. We don’t like her, or her twins.

All right, I’ve acknowledge the fact that this has been going on for quite some time. They all get a kick out of it, and Brad likes to clown around.. The bumpersticker was on his car in LA or where ever. They spoke of pranks that had been pulled on each other on TV…spoke of them, not performed them. and the ads Pitt had put in where in trade mags. This one was put out there for all to see nationwide. I have a problem with that. When you do something like that, it becomes less like a prank and more like a stunt in which case GC becomes the star.

Sagittarius Celebrity Stars
By the Astrocenter Team

Restless, adventuresome, here one minute then off on a tangent the next . . . It’s hard to keep our celebrity Sagittarians in one place.

And why would we want to? Sagittarians are the wandering gypsies of the Zodiac, the searchers, seekers, and storytellers who walk this world to bring mind-opening and mind-blowing experiences to you. Happy-go-lucky and good-humored, they’re the life of every party.

These freedom-lovers can also be found in airports, living abroad, or exploring the existential questions of existence.

Brad Pitt:
December 18, 1963
These days, it’s a fair bet that when Brad’s not on a movie set, he’s jet-setting to Africa to be with his leading lady. For the Sun Sign who virtually equates sitting still with depression, being in constant motion must be divine. Sagittarius thinks there’s so much to see, do, and be in the world, so much to discover about oneself; why on Earth would anyone want to limit himself to just one place? It’s the curse and the blessing of the Archer, the eternal restlessness, endless questing to find a world bigger than his own back yard. The Archer is a wild centaur - half man, half horse - and being fenced in, whether in the wrong relationship, the wrong identity, or the wrong job, is a curse far worse than restlessness. This lesson we’d do well to learn from Sag is that there’s nothing more valuable than freedom, and it is worth every penny of the high price it commands. When he fell for Angelina Jolie, Brad also began a relationship with the sad and beautiful Sudan region of Africa, where poverty limits everyone’s freedoms. It looks like Brad has discovered the Sagittarian Holy Grail: traveling abroad can give a person new perspective on the world and his place in it.

I keep picturing Brad riding and waving lol.

From an Interview to the guys who won the Global Green proyect, ..

Jill: So much as I hate to do this, I have to ask: What was it like working with Brad Pitt?
Andrew: He was really nice and seemed to know what he was talking about, honestly. A lot of architects are skeptical about Brad Pitt’s sudden interest in architecture – but I have to tell you that from what we could tell, he seems pretty devoted to the cause of sustainable design, and of course the celebrity interest just helps elevate interest in our project, and we can’t argue with that!

Deena,

I’m so totally feeling what your’re saying. GC’s jokes always seem to make the same inferrences and references. BP’s jokes, with exception to Variety Ad., if in fact BP made have not had the consistency as GC. GC’s immature and inconsiderate pranks can’t continue to disregard those in BP’s life. GC doesn’t have the family circle as BP or MD. GC should choose a different tone. Didn’t Mark Wahlberg, a former pal, stop him from these specific jokes.

Clooney is also a DRUNK

Yeah, out drinking with Danny DeVito. DeVito was so smashed on The View today

LOL!!!

I just watched the Letterman clip, and IMO, it was hilarious and completely harmless. I especially liked when the band played ‘You Sexy Thing’ when they showed Clooney’s old pic. To be honest, the lyric ‘I believe in miracles’ kept coming to mind when I looked at that pic.

First, thank you JJ for this coverage. I saw the show last night from beginning to end. I also want to praise all the writers who wrote their comments here for their knowldege and assessment of George and Brad. In my humble opinion, since these two actors are in the public eye, anything they do to each other will be under praise or scrutiny by their own fans or haters. I also read somewhere, that when they were filming “Ocean’s 12,” it must have been a slow day, George placed a bumper sticker on Brad’s car that reads “Small ***** on board.” According to Matt Damon, Brad drove the car for weeks, and he keeps on noticing people laughing at him. He thought for a while that people do that and recognized him as Brad (the movie star) until he found out the sticker. So, he planned a revenge joke with Matt as a partner and wrote a memo to the staff of “Ocean’s 12″ and I can’t remember what the memo said. I read this bit a while back. This is the kind of relationship they have on the set. Since Matt has Ben Affleck, George has Brad. Humor is the best medicine.

I got a mag. on Star Fright today:

Johnny Depp and “Diddy’ freak out when they see clowns.
Clin Farell , JA and BBT panic when they board a plane.
David Beckham fears disoder - each shirt in his closet is hung according to color and soda cans in his refrigerator must be perfectly lined up.
Tyra Banks has a fear of dolphins.

Man, I didn’t realize the hate on some of you have for George! Seriously, I knew PT didn’t like him much, and gitane wasn’t a fan, but you guys make the man sound downright diabolical, evil, fake, unnattractive and just ewwww!

I’m not in love with the man, and I don’t find him to die for attractive but I also don’t find him hard on the eyes, or nerves. I DO like his sense of humor “always have.” I think he’s charming, funny, and a nice guy.

I’m leaving this subject alone until I get some AG backup! lol

I remember hearing that Brad, secretly, sent out a memo to the crew stating that, under no circumstances were they to talk to or make eye contact with Clooney.

My reaction to GC last night was so simple, that I laughed out loud. I did not read alot into it. I thought how cool it was for Brad to take out a full page ad to tease his friend about being named the Sexiest Man Alive…..My take about George teasing Matt and Brad was that is was all in good fun….like they have respect for one another, but know where to draw the boundaries when the personal lives of each other come up.

It was just late night entertainment, meant to lull us into a sleep, not to launch long debates about the levels of friendships, coat tails,etc….. This is just for fun, isn’t it?

Love both GC and BAMZS, so please don’t shoot bulets back at me. Haven’t we run the minivan debate off the chart? Life is good…relax..

think positive! @ 11/29/2006 at 8:32 pm

I will not judge GC because I was never a loyal fan of him and I don’t know much about him.And actually I don’t find anything wrong in what he did.He made a harmless joke on T.V about Brad and Matt. And as so many people already said they where ALWAYS joking and making fun of each other. From the day they met in O11 set.And they also said all the jokes they made on their interviews.Nothing new here. It’s not like they had a contract that said that every joke they are making is going to be private and GC broke their agreement. And I find it very genuine and refreshing for three Hollywood A-listers around their forties to not take them selves so seriously and be able to put some sarcasm of how they are perceived.

I don’t know how close Brad and George are apart from their buissiness but all I know is that they only have great things to say for each other. And Brad is always answering his jokes back with a hillarious way!! He is a clown! So if Brad has not any problem with it why should I???

Anyway thanks everyone for the quotes of their interviews!! Funny stuff!!

I meant “laughter” is the best medicine. Sorry folks!

I’m watching (as I do every wed if able) Michael Palin’s show on The Travel Channel. His series this time is about the Himalaya’s, and he’s this segment in Pakistan. From what I’ve seen in just these 25minutes, I don’t know A Mighty Heart could have been filmed there successfully. Although covering isnt law, there is social pressure to at least have a headscarf always. How could AJ have even been able to depict Marianne Pearl under those circumstances. Watching this show, India might have had it’s headaches, but after watching this, I think it was a wise decision.

^^^Off Topic^^^

So many great posts.

Agree with the power and corruption view of the 67 Human Rights organisations challenging the adoption. I just hope the best interests of the David Banda and all the little orphan children will be in the forefront of eveyone.

There are 2 types of corruption to my mind. Both are related but not the same.

There is corruption that inevitably involves MONEY. Money Corruption is rife in Malawi as it is in many countried in the world. When you have money corruption, it is in the interests of anyone who can exercise even a little bit of power, to ADD TO THE RED TAPE and obscurity of the laws. This means that who ever is trying to negotiate her way through the laws have to pay and pay at every level. The civil servants don’t think they need to serve the people, they see their jobs as one of entitlement to payment. Once this sort of thinking sets in it becomes very hard to change the feeling of entitlement.

Then there is POWER CORRUPTION. Of course, you see this in countries with MONEY Corruption. However, you can get POWER Corruption even in relatively financially uncorrupted countries like Australia, UK and US. At this point, I’d like to make a comment about Ritzygal. She has gone on record to boast that she has access to levers of power that are unavailable to the likes of us. If true, her boasts reveals a type of thinking. In POWER corruption, money isn’t the reward but PRIVILEGE is. Privilege in the form of MORE Power, to get something that “ordinary” mortals can’t get or to get away with thing and actions which “ordinary” people cant get away with. There is a saying “POWER CORRUPTS, AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY”. To me, shitzygal’s boast was about access to the levers of power and the “privileges” it could get her.

I’ve met some wonderful leaders in my life. These leaders have power, in the organisation and/or within the community. They are wonderful leaders because they are very very conscious that POWER leads to RESPONSIBILITY, not PRIVILEGE. None of these people would even boast about the power they truly wield - even in an anonymous blog such as this.

I’m not saying that Madonna and Guy followed all the rules - I don’t know what happened and it will be interesting to see what comes out of this case. Madonna’s claim that there were NO RULES is probably not true but it may be true to say there were NO CLEAR RULES. (see point about Money Corruption - no clear rules but lots of rules= lots of opportunities to make money in bribes).

People have commented on why Angelina won’t adopt from the US. Personally, if I were a famous and rich celebrity, I wouldn’t adopt any child other then an orphan. Imagine if Angelina and Brad were to adopt a child who had been given up for adoption. The press and the discussions would be full of - why can’t Angelina and Brad just give money to the natural family so they can support the child financially, or give money to the parents/ grandparents/ aunties and uncles to support the child so he/she stays with his/her natural family etc. etc. We’ve already seen that discussion take place in relation to David Banda and his father - never mind that the reality is that the father didn’t want his son, just like Jon Voight chose to leave his family. Children get abandoned every day, not because of financial concerns but because the parents simply DON’T LOVE THE CHILD. PERIOD.

____________________________________

In response to an earlier rebuttal who claimed I was tearing up women who supported Jennifer by saying that they had a victim mentality. I just want to say, I’ve read many times whiners who say:

(a) Angelina stole Brad away: meaning: Jennifer was a victim of theft
(b) Brad cheated with Angelina: meaning: Jennifer was a victim of a cheat.

And the best one I’ve read is this woman who wrote in effect that it was OK for Brad and Angelina but that their happiness was at the EXPENSE OF Jennifer - who presumably, never consented to pay the price of Brad and Angelina’s happiness - which makes Jennifer yet again, a victim of forces beyond her control, paying for the happiness of someone else. Like, is that a victim mentality or what??

What is a victim, a person without control. If someone threatens me and holds me up and grabs my purse, I’m a victim. Victims happen.

What is a person with a victim mentality? Someone who persists in remaining a victim - whose actions and thoughts are greatly defined by the event. So by way of example, I have a victim mentality if I am fearful of leaving my home because I was mugged once. I see a threat everywhere - every stranger who approaches me causes me to flinch.

So, even if Angelina stole Brad or Brad cheated (- both events I’m happy to refute unless evidence shows up to prove it,) Jennifer has a victim mentality if he or she continues to be defined by the “theft” or “cheating”. See the latest example - she talks about recovering from her painful break up with Brad to sell a stupid YOGA DVD. See what I mean by defining herself by the Break Up?? See how it makes her a victim? And if you think Jennifer is still a victim, 2years and 3 kids after the legal separation, then, doesn’t that mean you also have a victim mentality? Otherwise, you’d be saying - OK, SH** happens, move on already.

I might add that the fact that Jennifer fans find the need to have someone to blame for teh Break Up (- other then Jennifer,) also tells me that those fans of hers have a victim mentality. It’s saying Jennifer had no control. She stood by and watched her husband being STOLEN away from her because she was so nice and sweet and kind??? LOL. Most B&A fans would say, there’s fault on both sides but what we don’t like about Jennifer is how she tries to place all the blame on her husband and Angelina - see VF interview and others.

Before my daughter was born, my husband and I had a 2 career household. My job required me to travel every week. But my husband and I made it a point to be apart no more then 10 days, preferably no more then 5 or 6 days apart. So, whereever I was in Asia, most weeks, I flew out on Sunday evening or early monday morning and flew home on Friday evening. Many of those flights were on the Friday night red eye, 7 hours in economy (company rules were, no travel on business class unless flights were more then 8 hours), 4 hours of sleep, to get home for Saturday morning. Then back again for sunday night. And Ms Aniston had to force herself to fly first class to Malta to visit her husband?? For a holiday??? HELLO???? LOL. No wonder Jennifer lost Brad.

Dear Lylian, I agree many good posts. I really liked yours

I’m still giggly from the Letterman clip. Assuming that Shiloh will continue to resemble Brad, I think that she should cop his 80s look for a Halloween costume, preferably when she’s in her teens or 20s.

Re: Clooney and Devito
Initially, it would seem surreal, but I can totally picture Clooney and Devito partying together. From all accounts, Devito’s a great guy despite his many years in HW. I do wonder if Rhea had a Posh Spice moment, forbidding Devito from partying with Clooney because of his influence.

And don’t give me the cr*p about how she has a fear of flying. She has a fear of flying alright - but in the Erica Jong sense. Otherwise, she can fly to Chicago, NY, Mexico, etc. (I’m assuming she isn’t driving or catching the Greyhound or AMTrek). Obviously, she’s not that frightened when her JOB or her own INTERESTS take her on flights out of LAX. Anyway, you can always take sleeping pills to calm yourself down and knock yourself out most of the flight. And man, when you are flying Virgin or British Airways, first class, you lie flat and SLEEP.

I recall that there was a recent trip to Australia for promotional purposes.

Aniston’s “fear of flying” is an excuse. This woman does not own responsibility on her mistakes. The movie Derailed is filmed in London. Well, she had no problem filming (and flying to location) that movie overseas !!!.

She should look at the divorce as a good thing . One positive thing is the pressure is off. She does not have to go to the media and lie about “a baby”. She doesnt have to come up with excuses to her husband about starting a family.

Indie - I see your point and yes I am aware that not all people dislike Angelina. However, I can’t help but wonder and feel for her in her first live show appearence on a talk show or Oprah. Projecting here..sure… but still I don’t think I am the only one who feel this way.

Thank you for posting Ali Wentworth’s comments about Angie. After reading your post - wanting more- I ran out and bought the magazine. Funny thing is after reading the total article, I’m still wanting more. LOL The last paragraph about wishing celebs would take up the yucky causes, just seems like a strange way to end an otherwise darn good read. I realize she’s just trying to be humorous and was probably given a strict word count but the ending left something to be desired. But everything else was superb. Not only do I love what she has to say about Angie but I love what she says about Bono.

…Bono is the gold standard. He knows more about the issues of global poverty, debt relief, and AIDS than many of the policymakers he lobbies. And he walks the halls, buttonholing everyone from lowly legislative assistants to cabinet secretaries. He believes that when millions of lives are at stake, partisanship should not factor in - hence, his relationship with right-wing homophobic racist Jesse Helms. Bono discussed the Bible and the origins of the African continent upon first meeting Helms, and Helms wept. And only Bono could provoke **** Cheney to march into the Oval Office and actually state that Jesse Helms “wants us to listen to Bono.”

(Me again) Now this is the power of celebrity used to its greatest advantage. Both Bono and Angelina do their homework, seek out unlikely partners and are relentless in getting their messages out. They understand that their words and actions can not only help their missions but also hurt. The fact that they have the courage, yes courage, to play with the big boys and girls on Capital Hill is a testament to the strength of their characters. They know that to many on the Hill, they are seen as charlatans, as Hollyweird types with pet projects who are just looking for publicity until their next CD or movie comes out - that is until they open their mouths. Neither Bono nor Angie will be remembered as great orators but I do believe their respective legacies of humanitarian service will be chronicled in the history books. I am proud to be a fan.

She told me that he said she’s not a good role model I guess because she’s not married to the father of her baby. I don’t think he likes celebrities alot but it’s kind of weird that he was on the attack on Angie today because the last time I heard him talk about her was when the Madonna adoption controversy was high and he criticized Madonna but praised Angie by saying he believed she was the real deal concerning adoption and charity work.

He is the LAST person that should be judging Angie and Brad simply because they’re not living by his “Mormon/Christian” values. He is incredibly intolerant, rude and disrespectful to his guests that are liberal. He calls them names and yells over them. I know this because I watched his show (I prefer to seeing things for myself before making a judgment) and I turned it off after the first interview was done.

4. Drew Barrymore $15 million
5. Cameron Diaz $15 million
6. Halle Berry $14 million
7. Charlize Theron $10 million
8. Angelina Jolie $10 million
9. Kirsten Dunst $8 million-$10 million
10. Jennifer Aniston $8 million

Lylian:

In your otherwise thoughtful post, I would like to challenge your statement that parents abandon children (only) because they don’t love them. Many parents, especially in the third world, leave their children at orphanages because otherwise they would die or, if they lived, grow up in extreme poverty. In some cases it is the ultimate sacrifice of love to give your child up so he/she can live. I would not compare David Banda’s father to Jon Voigt.

Read a new book “Without You There is No Me” by Melissa Fay Greene, about Ethiopian orphans. Read how parents dying of AIDS suffer when they leave their children at the orphanage doors. It is impossible for me to read those passages without crying. This gives you a glimpse of the extreme sorrow that is a part of daily life for so many people…..something you and I cannot begin to imagine.

I have two children from Vietnam and one from Ethiopia. I have tried to find all of their birth mothers, but since it is technically illegal if you are not dying to give up your child in both countries, there is no paper trail prior to abandonment. For all I know, if they are alive, they still love the children dearly and think about them every day. Since you and I have not been in this situation we cannot judge. I think it is not fair to birth mothers the world over to make a blanket statement like “they don’t LOVE their children.” It is frequently much more complicated than that.

George and Jon were cute on TDS just now :)

Ooh, the vogue looks fantastic!

on stars’ salaries, Entertainment Weekly dated 12 May 2006 had an article on “Face Value”"Are they worth it?”, discussing salary versus movie bankability. Brad Pitt ($20M) is listed under “Worth Every Penny” and Angelina Jolie ($12M) is under “Decent Bets”. Other major stars are also listed.

Glen Beck gave an interview with a newly elected senator or congressman a week or so ago. He told the man he doesn’t trust him and others as well because he is a muslim. That the guy is a terroist. It was out of this world nuts. So clearly this man is not the best judge of character. He’s a loud mouth jerk that gets off on saying the wrong things.

Kidman Tops Highest-Paid Actress List

Thursday November 30, 2006 4:31 AM

AP Photo NY120

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Nicole Kidman is the queen of Hollywood when it comes to money. The Oscar winner, who earns as much as $17 million per movie, tops the fifth annual list of highest-paid actresses released Wednesday by The Hollywood Reporter.

Kidman, 39, ranked second on last year’s list behind four-time top-earner Julia Roberts, who didn’t make the list this year. She spent time with her 2-year-old twins.

In second place, with $15 million per movie, was Reese Witherspoon, 30, who won the best-actress Oscar this year for her performance in “Walk the Line.”

Renee Zellweger, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively. They also get $15 million for each film.

Rounding out the top 10 are Halle Berry ($14 million), Charlize Theron ($10 million), Angelina Jolie ($10 million), Kirsten Dunst ($8 million to $10 million) and Jennifer Aniston ($8 million).

The list will appear in the Women in Entertainment Power 100 issue to be published by The Hollywood Reporter on Dec. 5.

Can’t wait to get hold of the Vogue Magazine too. Love her.

Well it should be a list about how much they earn not who is powerful. Because the numbers don’t lie no one is paying to see Jennifer Aniston in anything. TBU was a VV film and was his success. She was just brought along for the ride. As would anyone. People love VV and think he is funny and can’t miss. So they really could have put anyone in that and still made a hit film. At this point with no films coming out Jenn’s people are waiting for the demand to see her in a film to increase. It was too many films too soon last yr for her. I doubt she is bankable.

I love George Clooney and I love his friendship with Brad Pitt.

So what he was campaigning for an Oscar. Being a celeb is part of his job and he does it well. I don’t blame him. He’s interesting and he’s just taking the piss.

So what he’s a “famewhore” at they all really. It’s part of their job on some level and I don’t think he’s going overboard.

For me, if I become all that critical of a person liking their celebrity status then I become a hypocrite. Look at me watching them do their job and then criticizing them for entertaining me.

If I didn’t like celebrities I wouldn’t be on a celeb blog that’s for sure. I wouldn’t crtiticize Brad or Angie for doing the same, I liked both way before they got into philanthropy. I liked them simply because I found them interesting and I enjoyed their work. I like George for the same reasons.

I have also seen the pictures of “fate” at the row of seats. Can’t believe, Brad & Angie did not meet right after Brad was done with Gwen. Did you know Brad met Jen on a blind date? Their managers arranged the dinner date.
__________________________________________________________________

Sorry LSAM! I knew I forgot to answer someone…had to go back and check. Like Leetle UN I’m new at posting, please do forgive me.

I think it would have been too early for Brad & Angie to have connected right after Gwenyth. Angie was still in her wild child period, and I think Brad would be the last person she would be interested in. She needed to go through all those milestones & life lessons to get to the good place where she is now. Like I said - the right place & right time. Anyway, we wouldn’t want her to be Brad’s rebound, do we? :) (Yes, I being mean.)

Observer2: You must’ve picked my brain, took the words right out of my mouth, great minds think alike, simpatico, etc., etc. That post said it all. Brad & Angie faced this whole debacle with grace & dignity. No need to add anything more.

Indie: Your post regarding mini-van marjority is both levelheaded & clear-sighted. I also believe that the crisis point for B&A is over and the media is finally taking note. My sister, friends (except for one, but that was because of her BBT period), & co-workers only have positive things to say about Angie through this whole drama. Brad’s sincerity & commitment to his humanitarian efforts, his renewed outlook on life (he had a tone of cynicism in his past interviews, yes?) & devotion to his family has finally made the media & doubters see the light. The Jolie-Pitts are fine. They have a lot of silent supporters behind them.

Missouri Fan: A short post tonight only! I’m glad I can make you smile.

I’ll race all of you to the newstands to grab that issue of Vogue. LOL

Kidman Tops Highest-Paid Actress List

AP Photo NY120

_______________________________

There is something weird in this list, this looks like the same list last year, except they took Julia Roberts as in the number 1 position. If they based the list on the movies they made in 2005, then its probably accurate, since Julia did not make any film in 2005. Aniston I think was only paid US$ 8m in TBU, while she was paid less for The Rumor has It, Derailed and Friends with Money, i read somewhre just US$ 2.5 m per film.

If Angie got US$ 10 per film, then its quite good, since she was only supporting in the two films she made in 2005, TGS and Beauowolf. Whereas Nicole and others were all the main stars of their films.

Hello Artemis….Saw your post before & as of this week we got the Vancouver weather. Mild & lots of fog/mist. How’s your Toronto weather treating you lately? I have seen Babel already..Did you watch it yet? I hope “The Mighty Heart” will be shown next year & on time when the Toronto Film Festival arrives around September. That would be great to see & I am sure Brad will be on hand too since he produces the movie. I am keeping my fingers crossed that day will happen.

I posted this on SJ, but thought maybe you all might be interested in this. Looks like Brad & Angelina will be on this year’s Barbara Walters special “Ten Most Fascinating People of 2006.”

The Devil and Barbara Walters

ARMED TO THE TEETH Anna and her fascinating limbsBarbara Walters has coaxed tears from just about every celebrity this side of Idi Amin. But can she melt the icy heart of Anna Wintour?
The lead Vogue-ette is among the subjects of Walters’ annual “Ten Most Fascinating People” special, set to air December 12th at 10 p.m. ABC producers descended on 4 Times Square Wednesday to film Wintour in her office (which she reportedly had redecorated after seeing it copied a little too perfectly onscreen in The Devil Wears Prada), turning the mag’s conference room into a temporary command center. “It was like the preparations for a space landing,” says one Vogue staffer.

Also fascinating to Walters this year: Creepy televangelist Joel Osteen, Croc Hunter widow Terri Irwin, Andre Agassi, and, of course, Brangelina. (No word on whether they count as one person.) An ABC source says Borat also made the list, but said Walters had yet to confirm an actual sit-down with Sacha Baron Cohen.

No offense, but there is nothing here to even suggest that Brangelina will be subjected to one of BabaWawa’s patented doe eyed “I bet I can make you cry” sessions ‘or at least I hope the hell not.”

I don’t get anything other than they are something that fascinates her, and I think I’d have to RE-think my fandom if they went on her show I am so damn serious about that it’s not funny. BW used to be the _hit in my book, but that gas bag has passed and no more. I’d rather watch TomKat jump on a couch again than watch Brangelina sit on it. Let Diane Sawyer, or even Kermit The Frog be graced with their presence. Anyone but Barbara PUHLEEEZZZZEEEE!!!!

Thank you and goodnight.

Hi Ariel,

You know us Vancouverites…show us some snow and we go into panic mode. We’re still snowed in…approx. another 20 cm tonight before the weather warms up tomorrow. This is the coldest it has been here in two decades — an argument for global warming. Can you give us back or regular Vancouver weather? LOL

Yes, I saw Babel already. It’s a wonderful movie with moving performances by the entire cast.

God, I hope they say, ‘thanks but no thanks’ to Barbara. I think, at this point in their life and careers that they really don’t want people asking personal questions about their life together, which really is the only reason these shows ask them on. Not to hear about their latest movie, not to hear about their humanitarian efforts.

i can understand if they refuse to go on with barbarba walters. but i don’t think they would do the interview together, maybe separately. if not maybe brad will appear with her at her annual oscar special interviews.

Will never happen. First if they were going to do an interview together it would be simular to the one Brad did with D Sawyer. His interview was 30 or 40 minutes. Second. they would also want it to be taken more seriously than what BW special does.

Hi everyone, can anyone let me know if there’s any video/DVD of the Oscar’s Awards 2000 & 2001? I watched those telecast that same years BUT I would like to see the whole show from start to finish since Angie won in 200 & she wa a presenter the following year. Please let me know. Thanks

No offense taken JPF. I’m a bit skeptical, but also very hopeful because I would love to see Brad & Angie in an interview together. I did some searching on the web before I posted and came across some publicity photos of the upcoming show. Sorry…no photos of Brad & Angie with Barbara, but there are photos of three of the people mentioned in the article (Wintour, Osteen & Agassi), so that’s why I’m giving it a bit more credence. I guess we’ll find out as we get closer to the date of broadcast. Here’s a link to the publicity photos.

remember da truth @ 11/30/2006 at 2:26 am

Just checked in and I can’t believe people can’t see that George is joking, adn Brad is loving it, and it’s all in good fun. WHO CARES? Someone even says “Leave my Bradley alone!” For God’s sake, George has spent more time around Brad than you ever will and they love the pranks. Sorry you can’t take a joke, but Brad does NOT need defending by anyone.

I agree with whoever said that this is a way for two people who don’t get to see each other much but have fun with each other to keep in touch. I have a lot of friends that I, too, don’t call every day but we are close and we all live all over the place and have busy lives. George is hardly a famewhore, being active in reducing paps access and all that. He just has fun, that’s all. Some of you should try it.
People might not like George, but Brad does, so let him choose his friends and have faith that he might be able to see a good guy from a phony and probably knows his friends better than we do. I think George explaining that they don’t call every day is true and a reminder that people don’t have to be in each other’s faces and seen out together all the time to be friends, and to avoid the flack that Matt and Ben got for being friends and talking about that friendship and then having people get weird about it.

>>>>>>>>>>

Leetle UN, Good post and you are right - and I apologise if I have hurt anyone with my too sweeping statements. On reflection, those statements reflect my own prejudices and cynicisms about men who are fathers, rather then women who are mothers. I do know that some parents leave their children in orphanages because they are just too poor to care for the child in those countries. This is an act of love, of survival and of strength.

I will therefore rephrase the statements I made:

We’ve already seen that discussion take place in relation to David Banda and his father - never mind that the reality MAY BE that the father MAY NOT HAVE wanted his son, just like Jon Voight chose to leave his family. Children get abandoned every day, not ONLY because of financial concerns but because SOME parents simply DON’T LOVE THE CHILD. PERIOD.

I hope Brad and Angie will be doing the interview together with BW. After all the hoopla last year, the public and media are accepting them as a couple and family now. I knew during those year with JA, Brad and Jen have done a few interview together, one infamous interview was with D. ^^^Your right Ell. Brad never did an interview with Jen. He never did an interview with Gwen and I don’t think he did one with Juliette. In fact he never did a print interview together with these women. It would be too much of a plum for whoeever get Brad to sit down next to Angelina a talk about themselves, kids and charity. I would say 60 Minutes long before Barbara Walters.

BTW only Radar.com is the only article so far that is including Brangelina as one of the Barbara Walters top ten. On Access Hollywood they name 3 of the top 10 and Starpulse.com names 6 but not “Brangelina”. I don’t trust Radar.com so I will wait before I believe anything they wrote.

Here is the article from Starpulse:

Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2006,” an hour-long ABC News special highlighting some of the year’s most prominent names in entertainment, politics, sports and business, will air Tuesday, Dec. 12 (10:00- 11:00 p.m., ET).

Hosted by Barbara Walters, the special includes Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, hip hop mogul Jay-Z, newly retired tennis legend Andre Agassi, John Ramsey, televangelist Joel Osteen, Steve Irwin’s widow, Terri Irwin, heartthrob Patrick Dempsey and others

The number-one most fascinating person of 2006 will be announced on the program.

Now in its 14th season, “Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People” has consistently been one of the highest rated specials of the year.

I wonder where they are now. They really can fly under the radar if they want to, and these are one of those times. I am glad that they get some peace, but like everyone else here, I am also having withdrawal symptoms. Need new pics!!! Could hardly wait for TGS, because I am sure Ange will be publicizing the movie along with Robert dN and Matt D.

Wouldnt it be funny if Brad or Angelina ISN’T on Barbara’s List because she can’t get either of both of them to appear?? yet, from google and yahoo searches, lots of people obviously find them fascinating, not just us fans. That would put a bit of a dent on the credibility of the 10 most fascinating people of 2006 list. LOL. I’m starting to hope Brad and Angelina won’t do the interview.

Thanks for the info and this is really great news for Babel, boxoffice wise. I am really hoping Rinko would get an award to boost up boxoffice in Japan; and if she is nominated and wins an Oscar or GG, those boxoffice records in Japan ($150 million)will start falling. Sorry… not buying it.

First of all, it’s BAMZS, not BAMZ.

Secondly, ‘you people’? ‘You people’ is the quintessential tagline of an instigator in the guise of a ‘concerned person’.

PEEP!!!

Melissa,
two off the top of my head.
she has called him a himbo.
she said he has lost her masculine appeal to women in the movies, since he hooked up with Angelina and just seems to follow her everywhere.
She has put him down many times.

Skeptic:

You just beat me to it. This “BAMZ fan with feet on the ground” sounds like those concerned phonies - the language he/she used sounds like ritzygal and Jen/Vanessa, especially the condescending “you people” and the puzzling phrase re be careful what we wish for, that they might be saying something we would not like. Huh? What WOULD they say that we would not care for?

I dont see anything wrong if B&A will sit down with BW, aftr all she is still BW no matter what, well respected in the industry. She may not have good words about Brad but she always been vocal that she likes Angie. In fact, Angie was her most fascinating person lat year, but she wasnt ready to do an interview yet so she was replaced by Camilla.

Anyway, I dont think B&A are that petty and immature that they would only do interviews with people who would kiss their ass. There is not many to choose also from amongst the reputable hosts, even Jon Stewart always disses Brad, though he lieks Angie, and Larry K has guests who had mean things said against Angie. Diane Sawyer was not also sympathetic to them earlier. Im sure if its about their charity works, they can talk to Nightline or Dateline people like Ann Curry, but for lengthy personal interviews to promote their movies, there’s only BW, CR, LK, and BW is on top of her peers.

But if indeed its true, its likely its only Angelina who will do it, Brad maybe not, but who knows, maybe he is ready to talk now, its been almost 2 years since his separation… and as Ive said its Oscar time, its good to present themselves as a solid couple and family, and they dont have to cry in it…

As for Brad not having done interviews with Gywneth or Jennifer before, well he has done one with Angie in Namibia, so its very possible that he will do it again. Infact, he has done a movie and a magazine photoshoot with Angie but not with Jennifer.

Give me a break! @ 11/30/2006 at 9:58 am

Good Morning all!Let’s not spend the day talking about Barbara Walters.Brad and Angelina will not interview with her ANYTIME SOON.Diane Sawyer is also another person who won’t get a interview with B&A in the near future. The last time Angelina appeared on GMA she interviewed with Robin.

Fiona
if barbara walters dissed Angelina instead of Brad would you feel the same way?
Why is it ok for people to bash Brad as long as they don’t bash Angie?
Do you think Angelina appreciates hearing people bash the Father of her children?
I don’t.

Julia
Melissa,

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Men, reading those things it reminded me of last year (2005) and the beginning of 2006, they really took a beat, I am sooooo glad that the worst has passed way, the media with the help of Jennifer was brutal, and it is amazing that they got even more strong and solid.

I really think that next year after the greats reviews that Brad is getting for Babel, after the Oscar (The Departed is a sure thing) his professional image will be much better protected not to mention that they are going to the third year of relationship, probably with more kids in the future, the media will realize that this is a serious relationship.
I have hopes for the future.

Brad and Angie are professionals - they need to promote their movies and give interviews, it’s not about holding grudges. I don’t see anything wrong if Angie sits down (don’t think they are gonna do it together) with BW for a segment in her 10 Most Fascinating People show. She is promoting TGS, she is going to be on Larry King with Matt Damon and De Niro, so IMO, it’s not a big deal if she does her show too.

she said he has lost her masculine appeal to women in the movies, since he hooked up with Angelina and just seems to follow her everywhere.
She has put him down many times.

She did not say those as if coming from her, she was reading it from a magazine. What BW said after their separation, was that she did not blame Angelina but what she knew was that Brad hurt Aniston publicly or something… thats all, and i dont think she really bad mouth Brad but was just sympathetic to Aniston’s being publicly hurt because of the tabloid reporting that she was dumped by Brad.

I think some haters are out and dont want them to do the interview for fear that Brad will spill out the truth and nothing but the truth that Aniston is to blame for the breakdown of their marriage, lol, dont worry guys, Brad will not do that at all and Im sure will not ever speak about Aniston anymore in his interviews.

I just want to disagree with ‘BAMZ’ (?) fan with feet on the ground - I don’t think they’re overexposed at all. BRITNEY SPEARS is overexposed. PARIS HILTON is overexposed. LINDSAY LOHAN is waaay overexposed. These morons actually court the paps, hanging around on Robertson or at the Ivy. The reason we see so many pictures of the Jolie-Pitts is because of the public demand for these pictures, not because they’re courting any extra publicity. As far as I can tell, they’ve gone to great lengths to avoid being photographed (giving birth in Namibia, for one). They only agreed to the Ann Curry interview because there was so much public demand for information on this couple.
