George Clooney Rags on Brad Pitt
George Clooney playfully ragged on good friend Brad Pitt on last night’s The Late Show with David Letterman. George knocked Brad for also winning the title of “People’s Sexiest Man” twice. George joked of Brad: “He was a little upset. It sort of knocked his thing down a notch.”
Brad congratulated George’s win by taking out full-page ads in Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, which read:
Dear George,
Congratulations on being People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive.
[insert cornball picture of George from 1985]
Your Friend,
“The Reverend Ted”
Yes, it’s in reference to that Ted. The Ted Haggard who was guilty of “sexually immoral conduct” and ex-pastor of mega-church New Life Church.
George retaliated on Letterman by showing old school pictures of Brad wearing tapered pants and a beret. Above is George imitating one of Brad’s cheesy poses.
George also joked of Matt Damon: “We felt bad for Matt Damon because he really wanted it. He campaigned hard for it but we think he just came up short.”

HAha!! Me too! You beat me to it, girl! Glad I’m not the only one who couldn’t resist clicking on Angie’s page.
Hi everybody, so the BAMZSfans hijacked Clooney’s thread, i love it.
That pic of Brad in NO with the fans is to die for. He is PERFECT. Now i go back to drooling over the pic and examining every detail, his hair, his eyes, his arms…..

Remember the other day when you said that thing and I said the other thing and we both concluded you owed me one? Well, it’s time to pay up. I wanna come to NO with you and you can’t say no because you promised.
By the way, it’s okay if you don’t remember what I am talking about, what matters is I remember and you trust me…right?

Girl, you crack me up! LOL! Now, the thought of you two loose on the streets of NO in search of the J-P’s is truly exhilarating! You’ll be posting your own personal encounter here in no time for all of us to live through vicariously.
Well….gitane, what are you waiting for? Pack AG a bag and hit the road!
African Girl
since PA and KR got married 4 times does that mean they have to file for divorce 4 times? just asking….

well, i say lots of stuff. some days i have diarrhea of the fingers so i can’t be expected to remember EVERY idle promise i make. part of my job is sales, you know, so it’s possible i pulled something crazy out of my ass to make you happy. i’m having a hard time recalling the situation where i would be on the “owing” end of a promise, but all of that aside…OF COURSE you can come with me to new orleans. it will make stalking much easier. you distract him. i tie him up. we both go to jail. but at least we’ll have each other. btw, do you have preference of being ***** or butch once we land in the pokey?
Estelle
Hiya! Yep, some of us are here….I fear we may have lost a few to PH. So you saw my Hubby……I know we’re not married but if marriage is what Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock had, we want no part of it. Anyhoo…where was I? Ah yes, you saw my GC last night, didn’t he look scrumptious? I tell ya, that is one distinguised looking man.

the homestudy will be what makes or breaks them. it was easy with zahara because they weren’t advertising their coupledom. but now the entire world knows that they live together and are raising a family together. that’s going to be REALLY hard for the authorities to look past. especially with all this madonna garbage going on. celebrity adoptions are going to be scrutinized even more heavily because of madge, and anything perceived as preferential treatment is going to put the process in jeopardy.
*********************************************************************
The U.S. has no law against single people living together and one of them adopting, and U.S. homestudies are U.S. based, although the social worker does write them up specifically for the country the couple is seeking to adopt from. So Gitane you are right, the social worker doing the homestudy will probably just write the truth (since, as you say, they are now WAY above the radar) and then it’s up to the country they’re applying to to reject or accept that living situation. In my experience with Ethiopia and Vietnam I don’t remember seeing anything in writing saying they forbade their kids going to common-law homes (although I think I may have read explicitly that homosexual couples were not allowed, which sucks for that great population seeking to adopt, who also have to try to stay under the radar); maybe that has changed.
Anyway if B and A anticipate problems my vote is for them to go domestic African American! You heard it here first!
And it’s time for them to start going for two or more kids at a time; to hell with completing all of this paperwork and dodging media scrutiny to try and keep it a secret over and over again! Life is too short!! Hasn’t Brad hinted that he’ll add three more next year?
IT IS SOOOOO ON!!
my lovely boss just gave me a couple of days off! i’m going to new orleans in two weeks!!! WOO HOO!!!
i swear i have NEVER been this excited to go home in my ENTIRE life.

Oh my God, it was so good. I couldn’t stop grinning….I know, I know it’s pathetic but honestly, they were so in sync…..I mean it just flowed. Didn’t he look exceptionally handsome in that outfit *sigh* how anyone can be immune to that charm is beyond me. I can see GC, BP and JS hanging out….just being (sorry, copped that from JA)

I just love it whenever Jon “flirts” w/ a male guest lol George:”You’re a bobcat in bed” LOL Isn’t weird that I yesterday I mentioned their “in bed” skit for last year’s oscars and that’s what they ended up talking about? lol Do you look forward to sleeping on that block of ice w/ George? :) You’re both each other’s salmons ;)

here’s to hoping that brad & angie encounter social workers who will look on their situation favorably and not stand in the way of the process.
since you have experience adopting from ethiopia and it’s one of the countries i’m considering (brazil is the other), what was the experience like for you? how long did it take?

Don’t mean to damper the old enthusiasm, but most movies take off in about mid-December for the holidays, so there’s a chance that the J-P’s could be back in Cali in 2 weeks…
WHERE WILL BRAD AND ANGIE ADOPT FROM NEXT??
Here are some adoption eligibility requirements copied from the US Dept of State Website. I think China would be a problem because they won’t even issue Brad a visa since he made that movie about Tibet, and my guess is they would want to travel as a family to the country they are adopting from. Ethiopia says they “prefer” married couples, but I know lots of single women, including me, who adopted from there.
VIETNAM
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTIVE PARENTS: According to the Vietnamese “Law on Marriage and the Family,” adoptive parents must be at least 20 years older than the children they wish to adopt. Only one single person or one married couple may adopt. S/he or they must meet all of the following requirements: have not had their parental rights restricted by authorities, have good ethical qualities, and have the capacity to care for, support, and educate the adoptive child. If married, both persons must meet all requirements. Children up to and including the age of 15 can be adopted. Under Vietnamese law, a child over age nine must consent in writing to his/her adoption.
Civil Status of Prospective Adoptive Parents: Vietnam law permits adoption by married couples (one man, one woman) and single heterosexual persons. Vietnam law prohibits homosexual individuals or couples from adopting Vietnamese children.
ETHIOPIA
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTIVE PARENTS: The Ethiopian government prefers to place children with married couples who have been married for at least five years. In general, single persons under age 25 may not adopt, nor may openly gay or lesbian individuals or couples. However, the Ethiopian government has occasionally approved cases involving persons in all of these categories.
There is no statutory maximum age limit on the adoptive parent. However, Ethiopian practice is to limit the age of the parent to no more than 40 years greater than that of the adopted child.
HAITI
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTIVE PARENTS: Under Haitian law, at least one prospective adoptive parent must be 35 or older. For married couples, one prospective adoptive parent may be under age 35, provided the couple has been married for 10 years and has no biological children. Pursuant to the terms of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Haitian Government may decide to lower its existing age requirement. Haitian law permits adoptions by single parents. Adoptions by married couples require the consent of both spouses. This restriction can be waived with permission from the President of Haiti.
CHINA
Civil Status of Prospective Adoptive Parents: Chinese law permits adoption by married couples (one man, one woman) and single heterosexual persons. Chinese law prohibits homosexual individuals or couples from adopting Chinese children.
Residency: China does not require that prospective adoptive parents reside in China for a specified period prior to completing an adoption. However, in order to finalize the adoption, at least one adopting parent must travel to China to execute the required documents in person before the appropriate Chinese authorities. If the prospective adoptive parents are married, they must adopt the child jointly. If only one member of an adopting married couple travels to China, that person must have in his/her possession a power of attorney from the other spouse, notarized and authenticated by the Chinese Embassy in Washington or one of the Chinese Consulates General elsewhere in the United States.

my being in new orleans is no guarantee i’ll see the jolie-pitts. i’ll be going HOME with the POSSIBILITY of seeing them out and about. if they close down production before 12/13 and i miss my chance to employ my stalker skills, i’ll still get to see my family, my friends and the city i grew up in. :)
Gitane I had a wonderful experience adopting from Ethiopia for the most part. Much of what I experienced may change soon, though, since the US signed the Hague Convention (Ethiopia did not) and it’s not clear yet how adoptions will proceed between signatory and nonsignatory countries. I would be happy to let you know more about my experience offline (or off of this line anyway) so we don’t bore the others, but someone will have to tell me how to do that.
My boy is the joy of my life. We got him at age 14 months, and he was very sick, but now at age 4 he is a force to be reckoned with. He walks into a room and just lights it up; I guess that’s cliche but with my boy it is so so true. True charisma and positive life force.
My model for him is Barack Obama, who was also raised by a white, mostly single mom, and by his white grandparents, who were from Kansas. I am from North Dakota but live in D.C. (which is a SMALL TOWN in its own rite!! Perhaps my family will run into B and A’s family if they move here, and then how could we NOT notice each other, with our respective kids from Asia and Africa!!!).

How, for the love of God, did “X” (bad sitcom actress) command 8 million per pic? Oh sorry I forgot, marrying Brad Pitt gets you the right connections. Ok, got it. But after Derailed and Rumor Has It, I think 8 million has become 1 million, no?
Leetle UN: Thanks for th adoption info. Do you know what are the requirements in India and Pakistan - my bet is this is where they will adopt next.
i thought jj would be back by now.
“X” (bad sitcom actress) 8 million per pic?! How did this happen? Oh, I know - marrying Brad Pitt gets you A list connections. Got it.
But now that Derailed and Rumor Has It got worst reviews any film can, this 8 mil went down to 1 mil, no?
Leetle UN: Any info on India adoptions and Pakistan? I thing this is where they will adopt next.
Gitane: P.S. It took about 18 months once I had my act together. 9/11 stunned us and slowed us down; I could have been finished in year or less. That is changing now because more folks are going to Ethiopia (Angie is in part to blame! But you can’t complain about people lining up to adopt those kids. There are more than 13 million orphans in Africa).
Also, Hague Convention may change this time frame and change both how U.S. operates with signatory countries and nonsignatory countries. Guatemala has it worst, because they signed but have not implemented, so I think Guatemala may eventually be off limits for US parents.
Leetle UN: I bet your son is gorgeous - most Ethiopians are. I live in Los Angeles and I am amazed at the beautiful Ethiopians here. They all look like supermodels or Iman. Amazing.

we can contact jared and ask him to send our e-mail addresses.
it sounds like adoption has been good to you. congratulations. i’m not so much concerned about the hague convention as i am with what’s brewing in somalia. there are several adoption agencies stateside that are starting up ethiopia programs so they don’t seemed deterred by ethiopia’s hague status.
i miss d.c. more than i miss new orleans. i can’t wait to move back there. perhaps we’ll meet one day…
can someone please tell me when Angelina will be on Larry King Live!?!
When I looked at India five years ago, the wait for American parents was very long because India tried first to find extended family first to take every child orphaned, then non-family living in India, then Indians abroad, so that took over a year. That may have changed. State Department says singles OK:
INDIA
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PROSPECTIVE GUARDIANS: Couples with a composite age of 90 or less, or single persons up to age 45 can adopt; parents should be at least 21 years older than the child; in no case can a prospective adoptive parent be less than 30 or more than 55. For more information on this issue, please refer them to the CARA website for specific details.
PAKISTAN looks next to impossible. The State Dept says “Pakistan is not an easy country from which to adopt a child” and they only list a handful of U.S. visas being issued to Pakistani kids being adopted in the late 1990s. Visas issued is how they count numbers of adoptions from respective countries. It doesn’t say it’s illegal to adopt from Pakistan, it just looks very complicated and hard.
update of this week’s mag
people— “a tale of separate cities”, mentioned that jen and vince are (exact words) ” putting a distance on their long distance relationship.”
us mag–”hot stuff’, talked about vince flew from london to chicago for thanksgiving. vince stayed at his new penthouse which he bought, while jen broke bread with the cox family. mag said they were hoping the reese and britney’s divorces will take the spotlight off their relationship. both jen and vince will hope their relationshop will “die down” from the media.
in touch—mentioned that angie’s ring is the one which brad bought her while in india. it’s the emerald ring.
star– (the most stupid mag), talked about “dont be like britney without the life vest), showing pic of the boat ride in India. also mentioned “if brad and angie are using the same bleaching bottle”, referring the color of their hair.
ok mag—still saying Jen’s relationship with vince is still strong.
