George Clooney Rags on Brad Pitt

George Clooney playfully ragged on good friend Brad Pitt on last night’s The Late Show with David Letterman. George knocked Brad for also winning the title of “People’s Sexiest Man” twice. George joked of Brad: “He was a little upset. It sort of knocked his thing down a notch.”

Brad congratulated George’s win by taking out full-page ads in Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, which read:

Dear George,

Congratulations on being People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive.

[insert cornball picture of George from 1985]

Your Friend,

“The Reverend Ted”

Yes, it’s in reference to that Ted. The Ted Haggard who was guilty of “sexually immoral conduct” and ex-pastor of mega-church New Life Church.

George retaliated on Letterman by showing old school pictures of Brad wearing tapered pants and a beret. Above is George imitating one of Brad’s cheesy poses.

George also joked of Matt Damon: “We felt bad for Matt Damon because he really wanted it. He campaigned hard for it but we think he just came up short.”

MANISTON- here’s the excerpt from Marie Claire referencing Angie:

Everyone that I’ve talked to in Washington, including my husband, George Stephanopolous, has a story about his trepidation in meeting Angelina Jolie. For some there will, of course, be an erection -but meeting of the minds? Come on, the Billy Bob-blood-in-a-vial-wearing bisexual sexpot in leather motor cycle pants as a modern day Mother Theresa? But Ms Jolie is, in fact the REAL DEAL. In her simple St.John suits, she holds her own at every summit, meeting and hearing with a vast knowledge and understanding of major global concerns. And when she gets frustrated with all the red tapes associated with fundraising, she just just goes right to her own ATM and disperses millions. This is a woman who has single handedly doubled the number of child adoptions in Ethiopia. And she made the World Econmic Forum seem so cool! Afterward, even the most statesmanlike were heard whispering into their cell phones, “You’re never going to believe who I met today!”

Washington is desperate for Angelina and her boyfriend to buy real estate in Georgetown-not because of her succulent lips and sinful bod, but because she is a macro force when it comes to mobilizing resources.
*********************************************************************

It is not just Wentworth Ali, Annie Leibowitz said how cool Angie is, even the gossip show presenters are enamoured by Angie outside their jobs, Lara Spencer of the Insider in a magazine interview said Angie was the actress she most wanted to have a sit down with and talk about family and children. Guliani Depandi of E, promoting her book on how women should learn to think like men, when asked a woman that does that she said Angelina, and she said that is why Brad will never leave because he knows she can take care of herself. There are so many women out there that I read about who respect Angelina even the tabloid editors have a grudging respect for the way she takes control of her life. How many actresses older or younger than Angelina that can pilot a plane.

Jared, where is BAMZS? Yesterday I read that you had pictures of them in New Orleans, Angie walking down the streets.

This has been one of the most intelligent discussions I ‘ve read on this blog since I starting coming here in January. No name calling, ugly slurs, just people offering their opinons and accepting what others had to say. Thank you. I have enjoyed reading what most of you had to say today. I too am frightened to post sometimes, because the responses can be so hateful. Today was a good day.

“I agree, Im not a george fan but, I cant see anything bad about this.. they were both joking with each other and I think it is cute! I like that others can see that Brad has friends in HW, and that he has a goofy sense of humor. That side of Brad isnt talked about often enough. I also liked how loyal George was to Brad by NOT getting too personal about Brad’s life and divorce. You know he knows a lot more than he is saying, and I respect that he kept it light and didnt reveal much.”

Exactly. Guys just don’t fawn and go on & on about how tight they are. They may have heart to hearts privately but it WILL stay private if they do. I remember watching LK and George was so not comfortable with the questions and he was stumbling for the right words and squirming. If anyone is familier with George, he’s famous for has fast wit, and quick quip’s, and they weren’t at the ready. I think they’re tight.

From people.com

A judge in Malawi will permit a coalition of 67 human-rights groups to move forward with their legal challenge to Madonna’s adoption of 1-year-old David Banda – and allow them to help decide if the singer is a fit mother.

In his Wednesday ruling in the Malawian capital, Judge Andrew Nyirenda said the human-rights organizations could be viewed as “friends of the court.”

The groups can therefore pursue the application for a full review of an interim 18-month custody order that allowed Madonna to take the child out of the country. The groups’ members can also be party to the assessment of the pop singer’s fitness as a mother.

“We want to be joined as a party to the assessment because we have a lot of legal issues we want to raise,” Justin Dzonzi of the coalition told reporters last month.

The groups had argued that the Malawian government cut legal corners to “fast-track” the adoption, and said regulations must be followed to protect children, the Associated Press reports.

Madonna has denied that she was given VIP treatment.

David is currently living with Madonna and her family in London. “David is amazing,” Madonna, speaking via satellite from a TV studio in London, said during an October interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“What really surprises me is how great my children are with him and how he’s transitioned so easily from living in Africa in an orphanage to living in our house,” she said.

In another setback to the pop star, her Nov. 22 NBC TV special attracted only 4.6 million viewers nationwide, according to the Nielsen ratings, The Washington Post reports.

Malibumom @ 11/29/2006 at 1:15 pm

The reason I posted the article above is because I think this is a bad thing. I don’t think it’s necessarily good for other people who may have pre-conceived notions regarding certain celebs to judge whether they are fit or unfit as parents. I think Madonna’s other 2 kids are more of an indication of what type of mom she is. I don’t like her as a celebrity-I do not like the way the issue with David Banda was handled but it would not be right for me to say because she received prefreential treatment, she is an unfit mom. I would not want her to raise my kids, but she and I are totally different people. That baby will be used to Madonna and used to the love she is giving him. It would be wrong to take the child away at this point. Too bad she didn’t get some advice from Angelina. I believe Angie is totally detailed and focused when it comes to adoption and I know she understands fully the laws of whatever country she considers adopting in. Sometimes we can be so catty until we look ignorant.

I agree … im not a fan of hers either but.. this cant be good. Of course I cant help but thinking back to what Madonna said in her Oprah interview..She said she was warned not to try and adopt in Malawi because of the difficulites. Why then didnt she heed this warning?

Stubborness? Pride? conceit? I dont know but.. this is a shame that it is come to this. All I can think of is that poor child.

Malibumom & Alana

I’m not a Madonna fan and never have been, but I think these org’s are using David to assert control. They’re usurping even his own birth fathers rights in what I see as a powerplay. They want final say even over what the courts hand down and to me what they’re trying to do is just as wrong as what they suggest Madonna has done. They’d rather a kid stay within the Malawai orphanage system than ever give up control and power and that’s sad for the children. Maybe Madonna should just say to them “ok, you win, take the child back and let the chips fall were they may regarding your future as so-called children advocacy orgs.” At this point I don’t think anyone would blame Madonna for relinquishing her role in David’s life, and ceasing the adoption of him. I might sound cold, but it’s colder for these groups to continue to disrupt David’s life with the Ritchies.

Can someone tell me when Angelina is supposed to be on Larry King? I saw someone make reference to it earlier.

Ace Tomato - I’m with you all the way. Mini-van moms can relate much better to Brad & Angie than Brad & JA. Seeing a hot, sexy guy who is totally devoted to his family, well - that just makes Brad hotter! And Angie didn’t break up any marriage, Jen did that on her own when she refused to give that man a baby. She needs psychiatric evaluation for that one. Now she’s going to be reduced to Dancing with the Stars…

I think the whole practical joke thing between Brad & George is funny. Brad started it, you didn’t think George wouldn’t retaliate did you?

Malibumom @ 11/29/2006 at 2:15 pm

jpf as always you are dead on! I would do that if I were her because I wouldn’t want to get too attached. It’s like Losing Isaiah

Malibumom @ 11/29/2006 at 2:20 pm

Another thing, I don’t understand why some celebs can’tbe content. I would gladly stop everything and just raise my kids. The important thing is for the children to turn out ok-This my sound cheesy, but I am really happiest when my house is in perfect order, dinner is ready when my kids walk through the door, and when my husband can come home early.

i don’t believe this. a coalition of 67 human rights groups? that’s a damn shame! is this really about what’s best for david or is it about some vendetta against madonna specifically or celebrity international adoptions in general? because it’s not about david. it’s not about what’s best for him at all and that’s what makes this whole situation suck.

The Rev Ted reference is from a line in Ocean’s that George says to Brad :

“Ted Nugent called he wants his shirt back”

+++

Not even true, and if you’d look/listen to the video above you’d find that one out. It’s about Rev Ted Haggard “who got into a little trouble awhile back” (GC’s words to Dave) and not some line in a movie about Ted Nugent and his shirt.

I was thinkin the same. It’s like 10-12 mil people est, and an est 1mil+ orphans. Ok, why are funds, energy, resources being used to fight something that is actually benefitting not only the child, but bringing negative attention not positive on the plight of these kids and their country? It’s stupid! 67 human rights groups in one country and this is how they join forces?! Puhleeze.

Won’t say I’m dead on, but I will say that it really feels like they (67 Malawi orphan control orgs posing as human rights orgs) considered themselves the final word in this childs life. They weren’t consulted and ego’s are ruling the day while that kid’s future hangs in the balance and that sucks.

jpf

Original jpf

why aren’t these 67 human rights groups trying to do something about adjusting the ridiculously long 18-month residency policy in malawi, so that the 1 million orphans languishing in that country can quickly find loving parents?

i cannot express how angry this makes me. it’s an atrocity and it taints adoption for everyone who’s ever considered it.

Malibumom @ 11/29/2006 at 2:57 pm

Jpf-This is what I meant by dead on! You said

jpf

Original jpf @ 11/29/2006 at 3:16 pm

gitane

Because like Malibumom says, it’s about power and control. 67 group are all vying for a piece of the pie. I’m sure that somewhere down under the muck they feel it’s all being done for the kids, but human nature gets in the way and the struggle to be seen above the rest as the big dog when it comes to getting these kids taken care of oftentimes blinds them to the bigger picture and that’s when more red tape, more bureaucratic bull……the very things that usually bind THEM up (oh the irony!) gets created. When people who are considering adoption in Malawai see this, they’re going to throw their hands up and move on to a place that at least tries to keep the child the focus while balancing the power instead of abusing it. IMO

jpf

Oh man! It wasn’t the best night for celebs on talk shows was it?

Did you hear that Snoop Dogg got arrested after his performance at the Tonight Show?

Malibumom @ 11/29/2006 at 3:26 pm

I hate to say this, but it’s my opinion that the core of suffering in third world nations is caused by those who want power and control. That’s why ppl like the Jolie-Pitts probably have to be extremely careful how they give and to whom. Corruption is just rampant and it is disheartening. Let’s not forget the tons of food that rotten and or was maggot infested because it sat around in storage bins because the “powers that be” would NOT give the OK for it to be distributed to the starving. Several of my friends go to Jamaica every year with their church. They take medicine, clothes. . . it all gets confiscated at the airport. One guy in particular told me about how he literally gave his shift off his back and all of his clothes in his luggage because the ppl begged for them. And Yes, Jamaica has som really poor areas-

I want to drink George Clooney with a spoon.

Imagine me, him and Brad: together.

OMG!!!!!

So sad to hear about Madonna. If they cared so much about David, why were they not involved during this past year when he was in an orphanage?

How can going back to Malawi be good for him? With Madonna he has a life of access to good health, education (the best) and opportunities like Zahara Marley and Maddox to do something for him homeland.

What awful people these groups and they call themselves human “rights” groups? Give me a break.

I am sure Angie and Brad are devastated at the news since they care so much about adoptions.

Also re: Madonna - why don’t these “human rights groups” take David and care for him then?

Like another poster said somewhere I read, Madonna should give them David and pull her money invested in the Malawi orphanage and let these Human Rights groups do all the work since they care so much.

They don’t care about David one bit - if Madonna was not famous and super rich, they would have never gone after her.

God in the end will prove his point. And I hope these interest groups are exposed for what they are: opportunists who don’t care about children.

I wonder what Madonna will have to say about this.

Original jpf

there’s the rub. how many parents who were considering or in the process of adopting from malawi have pulled out because of this. the residency requirement is already a detriment. this power struggle puts up an even bigger wall.

Speaking of Clooney, Danny Devito was on the View this morning and looked drunk lol, he said that was out with George all night, the video is on TMZ.

George Clooney is one of the most interesting people in hollywood right now
======================================================

Are you serious? Clooney has got to be one of the most boring people in HW right now. Clooney goes on interviews and says the same damn thing every.single.time. I think I’ve heard that Matt campaigned hard for SMA thing about 5x’s now.

The Good German is going to be another bomb for Clooney. The movie is horrible to the point of people in the screenings laughing out loud at it.

Clooney’s a poser. His whole trip to Darfur wasn’t because he all of a sudden decided he wanted to go. He went because George wants in with the Bono’s , Brad’s and Angelina’s. Hell, Matt Damon went to Africa so George had to go. Always on someone else’s urging or coat tails. Just watch how comitted Clooney will be for Africa and specifically Darfur. That will be his father Nick’s cause not George’s.

Clooney is a famwhore of the highest order.

++++++++++++

Amen, sister/brother, amen.

Could someone - a Porgie fan - tell me exactly when Clooney got interested in Africa? IIRC it was after Brad called Bono and got involved…and after Brad and Angie hooked up.

I always thought that george and angelina would have been HOT together….steamy!
