Thanks for the link. That pic was great; I like it even more than the Vogue cover. In a way, I hope Jared doesn’t post it because haters would take it as Brad and Angelina rubbing their happiness in Chinnochio’s face and it’s not. It’s about creating a memory for a loved one. I do wonder if Brad suffered from the December syndrome, you know, people who are born in late December getting jipped because Christmas is close to their birthdays.

I love this Pittsburgh pic so much, I would like to send it as a Christmas card to everyone! Really, someone should write Merry Christmas on it….

Joy, I have three kids but they are all grown up, the youngest is 15 and man do I miss having a baby and a toddler, I guess I have to wait for being a grandma like MF with precious Bradley a few years down the road. Since I am working part-time now, I am thinking of fostering kids, but I would have such a tough time when they have to leave, hubby and I are talking about it….Well, Joy we don’t have too long to wait in a few days we’ll get our fill of our beloved family….

BTW—- I wish the BAMZS family will have a family pic to share with all of their friends from ALL over the WORLD wishing everyone a happy and peaceful new year, now that would make my 2007 :lol:

hello new thread!

# Rica Says:
December 8th, 2006 at 2:14 am

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But my point is, my description is not my name and the fact 100 people may call me that short black girl. doesn’t mean number 101 can’t call me Rica.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
It was a form of speech. She was not saying it in a condescending way. She HAD to make a point of Zahara’s race because people have been making a point of David Banda’s race and Zahara’s race! That was the whole point of her response.
Funny people SKIP over the part where she says , any child saved is a child saved and go straight to where they can misconstrue her words.
If someone had said to Oprah, she should not be a talk show host because she is black then it would be completely ok for someone to respond like this “when i see that black woman on my tv screen, I am happy she is a talk show host”.
That response would be a way to reiterate the very issue that her critics would have with her - which is her race. Give it a break. Go to her Angel’s network and give money or that school for girls she has, or go to an Ethiopian orphanage site and give money in honor of Zahara instead of wasting this much time deciphering why a BLACK woman called a little black girl “that little black girl”. For God’s sake people, let it go!
I’ll go further and say this: Oprah is not at her core, capable of disrespecting black women - she has done too much for them to be that careless - go ask her mentor (and my hero) Maya Angelou. I know why the Caged bird sings - so does Oprah Winfrey, so does Zahara Jolie-Pitt, so does Rosa Parks, so does every single black woman who has suffered. Don’t try to break up the sisterhood - it is too strong. Zahara s a new member of the sisterhood and Oprah is the big sister. We black women have a bond. Don’t worry about our words - we love each other. And Oprah would NEVER dishonor us. She knows our pain, firsthand, way too well.
****************************************************
I don’t know which Oprah you are talking about, certainly not Oprah of today that has allowed her wealth and fame to make her arrongant. Oprah of old was able to empathize with people who were not wealthy and famous. Today, Oprah sees herself as a friend of the rich and famous, and talks to those on a lower scale with such disdain as if they are lucky to be in the presence of the almighty, she has started to believe her own press, and that usually happens before the fall.
This talk of black sisterhood is just bullcr*p. When Oprah had her numerous 50th birthday celebrations, the one that was supposed to be her 50 girlfriends had only 4 black women- Gayle, Mrs Coretta-Scott King, Maya Angelou and the woman that runs her foundation, the rest were white women. Look at all the people that Oprah has started or is producing shows for- Dr Phil, Rachel Ray. Who are prominent on her shows, except for Gayle and the therapist on her show, the rest are white people. When she did a behind the scene look of her company last month, most of her employees were white.
So do not try to shove down my throat this idea of black sisterhood with Oprah loving and supporting each other.
Show me one black person that Oprah has launched their career except for Gayle being a best friend. Do not kid yourself into thinking that Oprah can relate to your life today, if she could, she would not throw a fit because Hermes store did not open specially for her after hours.
You do not have to be black to be in sisterhood with me. Isn’t funny that you left Angie out in that circle of sisterhood, even though she is the mother to a black child. She is the one showing that child the world and giving her the best, but most of all, she and Brad gave that child their last name, something Oprah has not been able to does not seem capable of doing.
Get with the program with Oprah, she cares more about pleasing her core audience than she cares about being black or being in sisterhood with with you. Angelina might be white, but she is going to fight for the things that will affect her daughter’s life, and despite her fame, beauty and fame, she is still very humble, and humility is something Oprah lost a long time ago. I applaud what Oprah is doing in Africa, a lot of white people are out there helping too.
—————————————————-
Thank you Indie. For me, it was the combo of “carrying around,” AND “that black child.” It just seemed to me she was summing up the extent of what Brad and Angelina were bringing to the table in the raising of their daughter. Like I, and others have said, it’s not too much different than what Michael Douglas sees Brad doing “holding orphans for Angelina.” News bulletin - he’s a FATHER, and a man who recently said, he could not live without his son and oldest daughter. So people need to stop de-personalizing, and de-humanizing what this is, namely a child and his/her parents.
A I stated also, the argument that she was somehow ’standing up for’ Madonna and Brad & Angie is BOGUS.
Since when were they being dragged into Madonna’s poorly orchestrated adoption fiasco?! Please. They not only did it right, but they did it more than a year ago. They are not even IN Madonna’s mix. So I look VERY skeptically at the fact that Oprah is lumping them in with Madonna at this point - they have nothing to do with each other….Oprah even asked Madge to her face, and Madonna had to tell her, LOOK - I’ve never even met Angelina. So then, I have to ask — what is it with her grouping them together?
Is it just me or does this make anyone think of the Charlie Rose interview in which Brad speaks of the fact that Chinnochio had no interest in his hobbies such as architecture?That interview was a BIG eyeopener for me when Brad spoke of his so-called marriage.
MILL RUN, Pa. — The workers at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater got quite a surprise Thursday afternoon when Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie showed up for a tour of the estate.
According to a spokesman for Fallingwater, Pitt and Jolie arrived just before 3 p.m. for the tour, Jolie’s gift to Pitt for his birthday.
“Brad said he had wanted to experience Fallingwater ever since he took an architectural history course in college,” Fallingwater’s curator of education Cara Armstrong said. “He and I talked quite a bit about design and art. He was incredibly well-informed about architecture.”
The couple took a two-hour private focused tour, led by Armstrong, who described the couple as “very gracious and very engaged in the house.”
“Brad said he had a visual sense of Fallingwater but experiencing it in person, hearing the sound of the waterfall cascading under the house and smelling the wood from the fireplace was better than anything he could have imagined,” Armstrong said.
After the tour, Jolie had arranged to have champagne and caviar sent in, which the couple shared in a private birthday celebration in Fallingwater’s living room. Afterward, they invited the staff to join them and encouraged them to take the “snacks” home.
Arrangements for the visit began about a week before Thanksgiving when staff at Fallingwater received a call from Jolie’s personal assistant in Asia.
B.J. wrote The same with Gay people who bond with each other because they understand their common Gay experience. Or Jewish people who created a brotherhood because only they know what it is like to go through the Holocaust, etc. Angelina Jolie may be the mother of a black child but this specific bond is not one we can ask her to identify with and she does not have to. Even Brad Pitt himself said once “we may be all equal but we are not born equal”. And people who share that experience of inequality do bond with each other.
—————————————
Then why doesn’t Oprah ‘bond’ with her sisters and like at least invite more than three on her show at a time. B* could at least have some affirmative action up in her own house. Same with her ’staff.’ Please, who are you kidding - her whole staff could be black..not that they should be - but I’m just sayin’ — please do not go making Oprah into something she is not. Oprah knows who butters her bread, that’s why her show is run like it’s run, and it looks like it looks, it’s why she GUSHES over people like Aniston, INSTEAD of Angelina. She talks a good game, and she’s got the money and resources to give to make sure she’s not ever really harshly criticized by black people…but there’s a reason why Whoopie and Oprah ain’t friends.
So blackness is now determined by who your friends are?
What number of black guests per show would satisfy you to qualify in the “good black person” category? 4 or more per show? What number? To reduce blackness to who your black friends are and the color of your staff is offensive.
I’m outta here! I’m done with this.
Additionally, each struggle is different as well as unique. As a woman I still would not classify that struggle with my race (black). Don’t want to offend anyone so let me put it this way.
What the Jews went through I could never fathom, the atrocities of the Holocaust are unbelievable. It is all of our shame and a nightmare to one and all and that is their struggle.
Discrimination is the struggle of the Gays. They fight to be treated as a human regardless of their sexual preference (which to me is a private matter) and I can respect and honor that regardless of my opinion.
HUNDREDS of years of oppression, killing, discrimination, and the lost of an entire culture is without comparison.
Women did not have a voice but they still had their identity.
Jews suffered a horrific attack but in the end they are still Jews.
Gays still suffer the wait of acceptance all around but they still know who they are and from where they came.
Oprah’s current struggle is choosing friends with better integrity.
Again, each struggle is different and unique and I find it an insult to compare or clump together their pain and history.
