OlderMoviegoers Avoid Angelina Jolie?
Not likely but The Gallup Organization, a supposedly widely recognized barometer of American opinion (I’ve never heard of it), recently conducted a survey asking Americans “whether or not they make a special effort to see movies starring 13 different Hollywood A-listers.”
Americans gave Tom Cruise a giant “thumbs down” clocking in at 34 percent. Angelina Jolie came in at a distant second, with 18 percent of Americans saying they avoid seeing her movies. That’s 180 out of 1003 votes.
Who received the most positive reaction of any of the stars in the poll? Tom Hanks! Two of his most recent films include The Da Vinci Code and The Terminal.
Pictures include Angelina Jolie recently leaving her NYC midtown hotel (supposedly The Regency Hotel at Park and 61st).

So, according to this poll, in the big scheme of things, 82% of the people polled would go and see a movie with Angelina in it? Gotcha!
Adding Angelina’s name to anything brings attention. Why do you think JJ put ANgelina’s name in the headline when he coulda put TOM ‘S name up there?

This poll is bs. It doesn’t matter who you are Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Tom Cruise whoever. If you make a good movie people will come out and see it. Bottom line. Take it with a grain of salt.

gossippup - I beg you to stop classifying “soccer moms” as JA fans. I am a “soccer mom” who LOVES & ADORES Brad and Angie. She is way sooooo much better for him than JA ever was. Angie has made him a better man and fulfilled his dreams, she didn’t wreck any home because there was no home to wreck in the first place.
Not all soccer moms have the mindset that you seem to think we do, so please don’t generalize us all into one catagory.

Excellent point. She and Brad are the biggest stars out there right now. Even CC is trying to ride their coattails with this “gossip” sitcom. HOw much you wanna bet their will be a “Brangelina-Like” storyline.

I personally think that Angelina Jolie’s persona is a product of media glorification. I believe she is not comfortable in her own skin hence her endless search to validate her psyche. She is a paradox e.g. she wants to raise a family, yet rebels against the sanctity of marriage. If she is indeed, sincere in bringing up a loving family of mixed ethnicities, background and heritage, the first step that she should take is reconciling with her own father — another evidence of her contradictory behavior, dare I say, charity should begin “at home.”

I very much like Angelina, but I can certainly see why alot of people wouldn’t find her sympathetic (which is a matter apart from whether or not she’s a good actress).
Also let’s not forget she’s been in some pretty craptacular movies… Alexander, anyone?

And Iby…I totally agree with you. I have seen a bunch of TC movies and probably most of AJ’s movies, but none of AJ’s movies were really all that good.
Girl Interrupted was great, but I thought of that movie more as an Winona Ryder movie. Hackers was good too, but not at all dramatic, more of an teen movie.
So I ask her die hard fans, which of her movies do you like?

Also this is a poll that was proven wrong this very weekend with Apocalypto and The Holiday. Also, as mentioned many times before, the 18% who said they would avoid an Angelina Jolie film amounts to 180 people. Come on, it aint that serious.
