McPhee's Album Cover -- McHot?
Last season’s American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee has her debut album coming out Jan. 30. The album is currently untitled but classified as rhythm pop: “It’s not like really R&B or really poppy, but there are a couple of tracks that are really good for the ‘American Idol’ fans who voted for me and knew me as the ‘Over the Rainbow’ girl… I never saw this coming into my life as big as it did, and you never saw this kind of a record coming. I don’t really like her, but the songs sound nice. I hope she’s not doing this because she wants to be a rebel or anything, but I never imagined her doing RnB. Her voice just doesn’t quite fit the bill. She isn’t Tamia or Heather Headley. The album cover doesn’t bother me as much as Beyonce’s “B’Day” did, but I’m still feeling cold to it.
She is NO Tamia/Heather Headley. I don’t think she will be viewed as a credible RnB artist because she doesn’t fit the bill. If anything, another Nelly Furtado or PCD. Much success to her though even though this album cover is very trashy.
Katharine confirmed that those songs won’t be on her album; they are just Walmart exclusives. Amy, Katharine said this is the type of music shes always wanted to sing…her idols are Mariah and Whitney.
I like the album cover, she looks amazing :)

Thanks for the info. I’ve always thought of Kat as one of the belter types, but I guess switching it up a bit once in a while would be credible. Imagine a modernized “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”. Umm…yeah.
@MyLove: I don’t think she’ll be like PCD or Nelly Furtado because while she’s never struck me as a genuinely sweet girl, she doesn’t seem to be the type to veer of to that musical landscape. But if she does, oh boy…and I *like* Nelly and PCD.
da boots and the outfit she’s wearing don’t go together. She should have left the boots out and go barefoot or change the top. i wasn’t a fan during the show. i wish her luck.

cover looks cheap, but not nearly as bad as the crap the other divas are putting out. at least they had the common sense not to use gold 3-dimensional type like **cough cough** gwen.
As a loyal Kat fan I can say I like the songs.
But I think it’s sad shes alienating her fans by NOT doing what they fell in love with her doing on AI. She said they’ll be some pop classics stuff on the record, but it’s also the whole package/releases/videos that actually help the cd sell, ya know? And if she goes with this image it might not go over well.
I understand she says it’s the music she always wanted to do, but she has to remember her fans are her fans because of what she did on AI.
She’s pretty but the outfit makes her look like a bumblebee.
