Nicole Kidman’s Golden Comppas
Premiere Magazine January 2007 has a preview of Nicole Kidman’s His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass — In this adaptation of the first book in Philip Pullman’s beloved fantasy trilogy, a motley crew of witches, polar bears, and yes, Texans battle a mysterious force that kidnaps children. It took ten years for Pullman’s ambitious story to make it to the screen, with director Chris Weitz (About a Boy) exiting the project once — citing “technical challenges” — only to return two years later. All along, Daniel Craig was eyeing the role of the spooky benefactor, Lord Asriel. “It’s not just about fantasy,” Craig says. “It’s about rites of passage and becoming an adult and how tricky that is.” Newcomer Dakota Blue Richards (Selected from among 10,000 girls who turned up for open auditions in England) plays Lyra, the heroine who travels to the arctic north as part of the rescue attempt; Kidman is the malevolent Mrs. Coluter, who stalls her progress.
His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass will be released nationwide next year on Dec. 7.

FIRST! i loved the trilogy - his dark materials were and still are a big thing in the UK
Wow, she looks great, but I’m not so sure I’ll see the movie. I mean, I tried reading the book, but it really didn’t interest me.
This is my most anticipated film of 2007. Just seeing this epic brought to the big screen will be enough to get me in a seat, whether the movie sucks or not. I’m hoping it will be great. Judging by the pics so far everything looks perfect (esp. Kidman).
He always looks like he’s doing “Blue Steel” form Zoolander. It was really distracting in Casion Royale, and really, its hard to take him seriously, ever.
Cannot wait for this movie!!! Kidman is perfect as Mrs. Coultier because she’s such an ice queen.
And Daniel Craig will be a great Lord Asriel…Hopefully the kid that plays Lyra can act! If not it’ll end up horrible.
OMG!!!!! This looks fan-f&ckin-tastic!!! I looove those books and own the trilogy, this is so excting!!! The stills look great, I hope they do this right!! ^_^
wonderful! wonderful! wonderful!
“Compass” is spelled wrong in the title, just to let you know.
nicole sucks cow dung!
I am so excited ’bout this movie. I am a fan of the trilogy and IMO a film version is way overdue. Nicole Kidman fits Mrs. Coultier o a T! Can’t wait for December ‘07!
Amazing Amazing novels! All 3! I cannot wait for this movie, because I think it will be brilliant! Nicole… perfect! I just reread these books the past month and wished they could make a movie! WOW!
I can’t wait to see Daniel Craig and Eva Green in a movie together again!!!
BeCool, sadly Daniel and Eva won’t be sharing a scene in the film (at least their characters in the book don’t).
Eva’s part is an important but small part compared to Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig’s characters who will share multiple scenes together.
But can’t wait for the movie! I adore the books.
I’ll be there on opening day.
Who is discontented ?
What about the comment from Keith?
What´s happend?
Nicole is a brilliant actress….
Nicole looks gorgeous in these photos. This will be a great role for her.
Yes, Nicole is perfect in this role. Anyone remember her as Suzanne Stone in To Die For? She plays the ice queen well. She looks beautiful. There had been very strong casting rumors that Paul Bettany was going to play Lord Asriel, which I would have preferred. Craig looks pretty good though, I actually think the beard makes him look more attractive. He was very good as Bond, sexy but not quite as facially handsome as those in the past. And I had a little trouble with the “Blond Bond” thing, but it was pretty easy to get over.
oh my God, she is wonderful!Simply amazing!
I olve these books and i’m very excited to see the film.Nic is a Godness in those pics!
Nic is so beautiful in those pics….She is shinning!
I love Nicole. she is the greatest! Philiip Pullman couldn’t chose better!Nicole is the real mRS.Coulter!
