OT…..Saw ‘Blood Diamond’ yesterday and it was great. DiCaprio was truly excellent in it. At times, very brutal, but funny enough, I felt that I already knew about some of these things from AJ’s interviews, and excerpts from her book of her experiences in Sierra Leone, like the child soldiers, and the families torn apart, searching for each other. There was a part in it where all these refugees were in a camp waiting to be helped by the UNHRC workers, all wearing the blue caps that Angie wears when she’s in the field.

Here’s to wishing Angie, Brad, and their beautiful children, a fabulous year, and many, many more to come.

OK BAMZS fans there is currently a program on UK tv and they are doing a countdown of the shocking moments in 2006 and they talked about the Jolie-Pitts

Ted Casablanca from E! was very cynical about their trip to Namibia and said that if they really wanted to help underprivileged people they would do it more quietly without the photo shots and magazine covers i.e selling Shilohs pics to the tabs.

Someone else called them colonial overlords.

Another person added that Brad Pitt only agreed to the trip to Namibia just to make sure he wakes up to Angelina everyday.

It was overall negative but that seems to be the tone of the show.

I was reading some of the comments on Newsweek.com about the article they did on Oprah. Does this sound familiar?

Comment: Oprah is a media opportunist. I commend for helping these kids but she should look inward and try to help those in her own country first. A perfect example of her being a media hungry zealot is when she appeared on Letterman to end their “feud”. In just so happens that this was the same night that her Broadway show opened - how coincidental don’t you think? Oprah only does things that will generate press for Oprah.

Let me see if I get this as long as you get one laugh it is alright to attack Zahara, pretend you live in a shelter or make jokes about someone dying. I think that is the mentally of the people at Dlist and PH. I hope JJ never becomes that. More importantly I hope Jared never allows it to become that. I like your thinking susie.

ABC has ‘Smith’ pilot in crosshairs

ABC has given the green light to “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” a one-hour pilot based on the hit feature.

The film’s writer, Simon Kinberg, penned the pilot script, about John and Jane Smith, a married couple who both work as assassins.

The film’s director, Doug Liman, is on board to helm the pilot and executive produce with Kinberg and Dave Bartis.

“Smith” hails from Regency TV — a co-venture of Fox TV Studios and the film’s producer, New Regency — and Liman and Bartis’ Dutch Oven. The project originally was picked up by the network in January 2006 with a put pilot commitment (HR 1/31).

Kinberg describes the series project as ” ‘Married … With Children’ with guns.”

The pilot takes place about six months after the events in the 2005 feature starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, which grossed more than $186 million in North America. The Smiths have bought a new house in a new suburb and have re-established their businesses, but the attraction and sexual spark they had found at movie’s end has dwindled, and they are back dealing with marital issues.

“In a way, the show is all about the marriage,” Kinberg said. “It is a show about any married couple trying to balance professional and home life.”

For Kinberg, the pilot marks a return to television, where he began his writing career with the 2002 UPN pilot “The Legacy,” from Jerry Bruckheimer TV and Warner Bros. TV.

Kinberg went on to pen or co-pen such features as “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “***: State of the Union,” “Smith” and the upcoming “Jumpers.”
