Mr & Mrs Smith Hits Small Screen
A one-hour pilot of Mr. & Mrs. Smith was just given the green light, which is being described as ” ‘Married … With Children’ with guns.” SERIOUSLY?
Here’s what The Hollywood Reporter is saying:
The film’s writer, Simon Kinberg, penned the pilot script, about John and Jane Smith, a married couple who both work as assassins.
The film’s director, Doug Liman, is on board to helm the pilot and executive produce with Kinberg and Dave Bartis.
The pilot takes place about six months after the events in the 2005 feature starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, which grossed more than $186 million in North America. The Smiths have bought a new house in a new suburb and have re-established their businesses, but the attraction and sexual spark they had found at movie’s end has dwindled, and they are back dealing with marital issues.
“In a way, the show is all about the marriage,” Kinberg said. “It is a show about any married couple trying to balance professional and home life.”

Are we now trying to pitch Angie against Brad? They are together and they are happy. The past is the past. The changes they have made is what show the strength of character. They are progressing, they are moving forward. Both Brad and Angie had a rough time with the media, neither one of them was spared. They even started comparing Brad with Vince and they started making Vince look good. Hello, I thought it was Vince that had a mug shot and have one night stands. Both Brad and Angie had it rough but only their love saw them through. In the recent interview that Angie had with DS, when they DS used the word wild, she did not quite agree with that. She said she was lost and she was trying to find her way. As for Brad, I won’t say dating a younger girl makes him wild.
P.S. I agree with Frenchy’s matured post but I’m just saying Brad took a beating in the media too, all for nothing because he left an unhappy marriage.
I agree whit Cliniqua: to me the best actors that can play Mr and Mrs Smith on the small screen are ROY DUPUIS and PETA WILSON, from the FEMME NIKITA tv show.
The chemistry between them was just INCREDIBLE….!!!!
At the some time I think that Brad and Angie should play MICHAEL and NIKITA caracters in a new remake of Nikita by Luc Besson… I hope it happens one day… Angie and Peta are friends.

Hi everyone, Happy New Year!
On doing our part, I too agree with Lilian and think some of us can do our part by helping a particular individual. I for one, am helping someone from one of the “countries” to get an Ivy league teaching position. I thought that by putting someone with a promising future in an important place would benefit him and his country as a whole…
I agree with what you are doing. But what about sponsoring just one child as organisations like Save the Children or world Vision advocate? This person writes very movingly and intelligently about why we shouldn’t just sponsor one child - because it divides the community and the family. Having read his comments, I think I’d stick with giving generally for the community.
and now.. GIMME A BREAK. you say Rachel Bilson is cute? CUTE?! WTF. Angelina Jolie. this two words mean everything that is connected with being a woman. not a small elf with no talent.
W..e..l..l……….I don’t like Ms, O the fact that we are both black has nothing
to do with it. I have the upmost respect for all she has accomplished in her
personal life, the help and positive influence she has had on others is outstanding. She is a generous, intelligent, successful women.
However IMO she has fed into the hype that she is above and beyond the
call..!!!!!! that her word and opinion is gospel, she seems to revel in a certain
kind of fake personality.
Just like i choose to be a BAMZS fan……i choose no to be a fan of Ms, O
Thank You and Good Night~~LOL
mr and mrs smith2???that would be….
Please, please, please - NO TV-VERSION!!!!!!!!
Do not spoil everything we watched in the movie!
After Angie & Brad, none could be Jane & John Smith again. Their chemistry was unique and it is unreachable!!!!!
186 million wow…..i saw it 6 times in the theatres
ROY DUPUIS is one of the most sexy men alive, (with Brad and Colin Farrell), he’s a very talented actor and very good guy. Roy and Peta Wilson were a terrific and hot couple in Nikita. The’re perfect for the roles of John and Jane Smith on small screen.

I think people, who donate to charity by sponsoring just one child, are looking to see something concrete coming out of their donations. They probably are not aware of the real situations, or skeptical of charitable organizations in general. I agree with you in that it’s better to give to improve the whole community. I don’t know first hand about the Millennium Villages, but I like the concept and I trust B&A, so I picked them as one of the three charitable organizations I am donating money to.
I dont like Oprah but I don’t care how she spends her money and I love that she did this.
Oprah Winfrey opened a school Tuesday for disadvantaged girls, fulfilling a promise she made to former President Nelson Mandela six years ago and giving more than 150 students a chance for a better future.
”I wanted to give this opportunity to girls who had a light so bright that not even poverty could dim that light,” Winfrey said at a news conference.
Mandela was among the guests at the opening of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in the small town of Henley-on-Klip, south of Johannesburg.
”This is a lady that has, despite her own disadvantaged background, become one of the benefactors of the disadvantaged throughout the world,” Mandela said in a statement.
Singers Tina Turner, Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey, actors Sidney Poitier and Chris Tucker and director Spike Lee also were in attendance. Each guest was asked to bring a personally inscribed book for the library.
Winfrey has said that she decided to build her own school because she wanted to feel closer to the people she was trying to help.
The $40 million academy aims to give 152 girls from deprived backgrounds a quality education in a country where schools are struggling to overcome the legacy of apartheid.
By educating girls, Winfrey said she hoped she could help ”change the face of a nation.”
”Girls who are educated are less likely to get HIV/AIDS, and in this country which has such a pandemic, we have to begin to change the pandemic,” she said.
Many of the girls come from families affected by the disease, which has infected 5.4 million of the 48 million population and hit women disproportionately hard.
Winfrey referred repeatedly to her own impoverished childhood and said she was grateful that she at least had a good education, declaring this to be ”the most vital aspect of my life.”
”I was a poor girl who grew up with my grandmother, like so many of these girls, with no water and electricity,” said the talk show host, dressed in a pink ball gown and jacket.
She vowed to make the academy the ”best school in the world” and promised that she would continue to support the girls so they could attend any university in the world.
The idea for the school was born in 2000 at a meeting between Winfrey and Mandela. She said she decided to build the academy in South Africa rather than the United States out of love and respect for Mandela and because of her own African roots.
She said she planned a second school for boys and girls in the eastern province of KwaZulu-Natal.
Many state-funded schools, especially in the sprawling townships that sprang up under white racist rule, are hopelessly overcrowded and lack even basic necessities such as books. They also are plagued by gang violence, drugs and a high rate of pregnancy among school girls.
Top-class study and sporting facilities are available, but are largely confined to private schools that are still dominated by the white minority as they are too expensive for many black and mixed race South Africans.
Winfrey’s academy received 3,500 applications from across the country. A total of 152 girls ages 11 and 12 were accepted.
To qualify, they had to show both academic and leadership potential and have a household income of no more than $787 a month. Eventually the academy will accommodate 450 girls.
The 28-building campus boasts computer and science laboratories, a library and theater along with a wellness center.
Winfrey rejected suggestions that her school was elitist and unnecessarily luxurious.
”If you are surrounded by beautiful things and wonderful teachers who inspire you, that beauty brings out the beauty in you,” she said.
Lesego Tlhabanyane, 13, proudly wore her new green and white uniform at the ceremony to raise the South African flag.
”I would have had a completely different life is this hadn’t happened to me. Now I get a life where I get to be treated like a movie star,” she said.
Winfrey, who does not have children, said she was building a home for herself on the campus to spend time with the girls and be involved in their education.
”I love these girls with every part of my being. I didn’t know you could feel this way about other people’s children,” she said.
I wish they would create a web site of the Jolie-Pitt Foundation where you can do donation directly to them & the money raised be distributed to the charity they are supporting. I hope they’ll do it in the future since the foundation was only existed last year.

for those of you who have a problem with OPRAH using her own money to invest in people who are in need what is your answer to ending poverty in AFRICA and how and when do you plan to implement it.

As I said in my post, I think the Millenium Villages are a much more realistic and far-reaching solution, so I support those by donating and educating myself. As malibumom pointed out, Maslow’s Heirarchy of Needs is a great model to follow. You must meet basic needs first, then you can move on to higher intellectual areas. I feel the MV’s will do this for more people, men, women, boys, and girls…. therefore have a greater societal impact. As lylain and a few others said, Oprah’s school is experiemental, so I will be interested to see how this fares as the years go by.
meesh!
as i see ,you are not here, you be must working of smthg!!!

Spotted Says,
Giuliana or at least her producers have always been biased. During 2005 they interviewed __ and when __ said __ would never parade Norman around for the cameras Giuliana said, “Well someone has been doing some parading,” then it cut to footage of the Jolie-Pitts arriving in Japan with Brad holding Z and Angie holding Mad’s hand.
Since then her and the producers have been jumped on “Brangelina” wagon saying how beautiful this family is but we’ll see how long that lasts.

dragon fly says:—— there have been studies in this country that have concluded that over the last 20-25 years, as a result of the women’s movement there have been SO many programs designed to help girls with their self-esteem that boys are now languighing behind them with simalar problems that girls had 30 years ago.
——-
What country are referring to? It can`t be america where girls have such low self esteem. Where women openly declare they hate women. I have 2 teenage daughters and a 5 yr old son. While I simply adore my son, I was tired of people telling me how lucky I was that I didn`t have another girl. I love my daughters as much as I love my son. I want wonderful things for all three of them.
******************************************************
Yes, I am referring to an American study. I read an article in Newsweek or Time about it a year or two ago, and I wish I had kept it. It was a valid study, and it did showed the boys falling behind the girls in the area of self-esteem and role models, and that perhaps our educational system had been remiss in rushing so to have multiple programs for girls only. It showed that boys were now suffering from the same problems as girls of 30 years ago. Add to that the number of boys growing up with no proper male rodel in the home, and you have a recipe for problems. The conclusion was that ALL children need to be made to feel good about themselves, not just girls. Boys aren’t going to just get it on their own, you know……it’s not a crime to have programs for boys only, too… or include the boys in *some* the girls programs, letting each group still have a few “girls only” or “boys only” groups. The point was not to leave the boys out entirely. Why leave the boys on their own?
You can’t just keep educating a woman to “higher levels” as you say, if the men around her aren’t able to relate and are stuck in poverty and ignorance. How is that going to help anything? You can’t stop relationship problems between men and women unless you educate them both. You say you want the same for all your children, so surely you must agree with this.

Yes, I think they were just kissing-up to Brad’s boo-tay for the time-being. Can’t stand them or their programming. I’s no wonder that people have a negative view of the J-P’s if the nly inf they ever get is from E! and rags. You have to look a little harder (like blogs, haha!) to find the good stuff! Brad’s becoming a powerful player on the HW scene, so maybe, even if just out of fear, they will get off he and his lady’s case for good.

I saw that article with _ in Mexico and my take on it is Boy! is David Arquette some lucky dude! He looks like he was two wives, one is the official one, and the other is the best friend! Seriously, I wonder how much he likes having to deal with not one, but two women (or three if you count Coco). I mean the family can’t make a move without having to drag _’s heinie with them!

It seems to me that X spends more time politic-ing and pandering regarding her image than she does trying to grow as an actress or as a person. I mean, geez…. is this all this chick ever thinks about? Her image? What a waste.
