no, january is a slow wedding month. at least around here. i’ve got to catch up on all of the end of the year b.s., reconcile accounts, etc. etc. the good thing about going on vacation is that your brain starts working again. the bad thing is that when you get back to work, you instantly get overwhelmed again.

i’m glad your temp did a good job. when i was doing temp work, everyone was surprised that i was actually good. apparently there are a lot of lousy temps in the work force.

the reason you loonies hate this picture is because it hits just a little too close to home. Most of you either are that woman in line at wal-mart lusting after angelina’s life or you can’t possibly understand the irony of this picture. It’s 100% spot on.

Wal-Mart is not hell. Thanks to the Walton family many people including myself are saving lots of money on things that we must have for our family’s.
I shop at Wal-Mart at least 3 times a week.

You are far too short-sighted. WM is a major kog in the wheel of what is wrong with the economy. It is killing small business and small-town America, which is what built this country. When you go into a WM all you hear is a great sucking sound, because, #1, they literally *do* suck, and #2, the other is the sound of American jobs being sucked overseas to sweatshops full of child/slave labor. WM and other business like it (of which WM is by far the worst) have forced American manufacturers to send operations overseas or go out of business. As a result we now have inferiorly made products and practically no manufacturing jobs left within our own borders.

How is WM to blame, you ask? Well sit back cuz I’m gonna tell you why they are bad and you shouldn’t shop there.

In the 1940’s-1960’s a man without a college degree could get a job in local manufacturing plant, say, making tools. He wouldn’t get rich, but he could raise and support a family on his wages, he would have health insurance, and his wife didn’t need to work.

In the 1970’s-1980’s WM was a company that prided itself on selling American-made products. Remember the commericials? Made in the USA? Well at the time, it was true.

As WM became bigger and bigger, many US manufacturing plants, such as the one that made tools where our friend at the beginning of this story, found themselves making a good profit and expanding becasue they were selling LOTS of tools to discount chains. So much so, that a very large percentage od what the tool comapny is making is being sold to WM….. well, that’s all fine and dandy EXCEPT once WM had a company over a barrel, say, 40-60% of their goods being sold to WM, that’s when WM says, to them, “We’re not pay you full price for your tools anymore. We want it cheaper!”

So the company has to trim somewhere. They lay people off. Then WM demands again, “We want your goods cheaper still!” Well, with that much of their business being sold to WM, the comapny knows if they say no that they will go out of business all together. So… they lay more people off, they cut corners on supplies, etc…

This continues on and on until the company moves it operations overseas where the labor is cheaper and they can still sell their goods to WM and still make a profit.

Where does this put the American worker?

Ever wonder why there are no more factories, sewing plants, or foundries in your town? I challenge you to go into a WM and find anything American-made today. Maybe 10% of their goods. Maybe.

That’s why.

All because people can’t stay their butts out of WM.

WM has people fooled that they are your friend, and they are helping you save so much money.

Bull.

What good are cheap prices if there are no jobs? Oh yeah…. you could work at WM I suppose. That plays right into their hands. Pathetic.

They blow into town and put every local hardware store, drug store, dress shop, etc, out of business. Everything that is wonderful about small-town America is being crushed under the heel of WM. Their can’t buy their goods from the manufacturer as cheap as WM can, so naturally their prices are higher. I will drive further and pay more, just to keep a local in business. WM can kiss my a$$. I hate them with a passion.

I actually save money now that I DON’T shop there, becasue I don’t buy a whole lotta mess I don’t need.

No amount of money will ever be enough for this company. They are greedy.

And don’t tell me that they provide jobs, either. Sure, c-r-a-p jobs with no benefits that nobody can live on.

All so people can have lots and lots of cheap, plastic junk that is only going to wind up as next year’s garage sale fodder.

Selling out for short-term benefit, unable to see the big picture and the long-term cost to us all. Yep. The WM way, alright.

Did I say I hate them?
