OlderAngelina Jolie Reaches Sainthood
What would Angelina Jolie and her children — Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh — look like depicted as saints, virgins, and cherubs? Kate worked out her own depiction of them on an 88′ x 60″ oil & acrylic on linen in a painting called “Blessed Art Thou.” Here’s how she describes the painting:
This painting addresses the celebrity worship cycle. The title, “Blessed Art Thou”, is taken from a line in the Catholic prayer “Hail Mary”: “…blessed art thou among women”. Our culture is deifying celebrities, but in the bible, it is the meek who are blessed, so the title presents a question for the viewer to ponder.
I chose a setting where the cycle begins: psychologically oppressive environments like this one are the source for the consumer, hungry for “information” about the celebrity. I am interested in the psychological ramifications of celebrity worship, particularly as they relate to class.
Angelina Jolie was chosen as the subject because of her unavoidable presence in the media, the world-wide anticipation of her child, her “unattainable” beauty and the good that she is doing in the world through her example, which adds another layer to the complicated questions about her “deification”.
The “Virgin” and Zahara figures are loosely based on a Van Dyck Virgin painting, and the Maddox figure’s pose is borrowed from a Raphael painting.
The artwork will be on display at the Chelsea Galleria booth at the Art Miami Fair at the Miami Beach Convention Center, January 5-8th. Kate will be at the fair Friday & Saturday.

Ted C. was nasty with Brad and Angie in 2005, because he feel sorry for Aniston. He said Brad was a jerk with her, because after their break up he didn’t gave her the time of the day. And move on very fast with Angie. He said he had sources saying how sad Aniston was.
But he did say that Angie was not the main reason of their split. He said it was about their egos. And he said that there was no affair in the set of MMs. But he believed they fall in love there. Oh, and he does like Angie, he said the only woman he would have s.e.x with in hollywood was Angie, and he always says she is beautiful.
I guess, he thinks Brad loves Angie more than she loves him. He said that Brad’s friends told him that Brad and Angie s.e.x life is the best they ever had.
But the funny thing, was that he reported, that around june of 2005, Aniston was crazy out of her mind trying to get back with Brad, but he didn’t even want to talk to her.

Walmart doesn’t give any benefits to its employess and takes advantage of illegal immigrants by paying them below minimum wage. It’s businesses like Wal - Mart that have contributed to the problem of illegal immigration yet they are never punished for their illegal business practices. They get huge tax breaks from the current tax laws in this country and yet the way they treat their employees is despicable.
Also, Walmart continously has taken to wiping away other competition and have created a monoply, especially in small towns where small businesses are trying to flourish. Because of Walmart, many small business owners have had to close their shops because they can’t compete with such a huge empire. It’s contributed to eliminating the middle class in this country.

BTW - I live in a town with 3 Supercenters and a Sam’s Club with a fairly large Mexican population…and I ain’t seen a one of ‘em working at Wal-mart. Then again, a few of the Waltons live here, so I’m sure that keeps the Wal-marts extra squeaky clean. But…otherwise…not my problem.
Some may sasy that they undersell everyone else out of business, but the way I look it as that the other businesses were over-charging. If Wal-mart can become the biggest company in the world by selling for less…and still make a huge ass profit…then that means everyone else is price gouging.
And BTW - Wal-mart DOES offer benefits. And I’m not going to cry in my spilt milk if illegal aliens can’t get health insurance. You can’t have it both ways - either you’re going to be upset because you think Wal-mart doesn’t offer employee benefits or you can be upset that they hire illegal aliens. But, if you think both things are true, then you’re objecting because the illegal aliens don’t have health insurance and a nice 401K with profit sharing incentives. As far as I’m concerned, illegal aliens aren’t entitled to health insurance or benefits…hence the term “illegal”.

To debate an issue that needs debating.
Sometimes you have to sit down with the hatemongers to discuss race. Sometimes you have to sit down with pedophiles to discuss pedophilia. Sometimes you have to sit down with sexist pigs to discuss sexism.
A debate on the misuse of celebrity attention and on the issue of make celebs into Saints needs to take place not just by preaching to the choir but also with the very people who are engaged in the activity, thus a celeb blog. My friend told me this painting was posted.
Like all art, whether good or bad, this painting brings up fascinating issues to be debated. Whatever you think of it (and I think the painting is crass) it does what art has always done: incite debate.
And I stand by my point: I would rather discuss a refugee child’s daily activities then a celebrity’s. Not if we can only get the rest of America to refocus attention on things that matter……

TMZ has the video up of Oprah’s interview. No WHY does someone need a “pat on the back” or “applause” for “adopting”? Something that is old as time itself wheter you adopt someone who looks like you or not. Where’s the applause for her having and carrying Shiloh for 9 months? Sorry for ranting. Today I feel like that.
