OlderCraig & Kidman Get Hot and Heavy in Bed
Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig take on the February 2007 issue of W Magazine. The A-listers connect twice this year on the big screen — The Invasion and His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass. Here’s an excerpt of Nicole and Daniel’s interview with W:
Daniel Craig can’t stand listening to Nicole Kidman. In fact, it’s so painful that he has stuck his fingers in his ears and is humming loudly to drown her out. Meanwhile, Kidman is happily responding to a question about whether the 38-year-old actor changed after landing his role as James Bond last year.
“Oh, completely,” deadpans Kidman, 39, who was with him, shooting one of their upcoming films, The Invasion, when he got the call. “In 24 hours he became a diva,” she adds, with a nod toward Craig, who continues to hum his tune as the pair sit in the cozy bar of a London photography studio, where they’re sharing a bottle of sparkling water. But then Kidman breaks down and tells the truth: “Oh, he didn’t change at all,” she says in her haute-Aussie twang. “The thing about Daniel, and the reason I like working with him, is that he’s an actor’s actor.”
Of course, Craig has heard the whole thing, and he seems far more alarmed by the compliment than by the faux insult. “How dare you!” he shouts, and they both giggle.
It is a chilly, slate gray autumn Saturday, and Kidman, who’s barefoot and still wearing a caffe latte–colored Dior gown from the fashion shoot, and Craig, in a navy blue cardigan more suited to Mister Rogers than Mr. Bond, are punchy after a long day posing under hot lights. On Monday they’ll return to the London set of The Golden Compass, a fantasy-adventure film based on the first book in Philip Pullman’s trilogy His Dark Materials. The movie, to be released later this year, is their second collaboration, the first being The Invasion, which is loosely based on Invasion of the Body Snatchers and is also due out in 2007.

I live in London and have had the (mis)fortune of seeing La Kidman up close and personal, without airbrushing, makeup and hairstyling, and she truly does not look ANYTHING like the way she is portrayed in photos. Her hair is a kinky, curly, grey-blonde mess and the skin on her face literally does NOT move because of the amount of Botox injections she has had. She may have been cute in her younger days, but from what I have seen of her now, she is a middle-aged woman desperately trying to hold on to her youth. Airbrushing is her saving grace.

LondonGirl, I did not know they had a wax work figure of Nicole in Madame Tussauds?! I’m a bit surprised by your remarks because while I saw Nicole years ago in real life, I know people who have met her recently and they have described her as beautiful or stunning but they also mention her paleness and how tall she is, lol! Some of your comments contradict each other. If Nicole’s desperately trying to hold on to her youth by botoxing her face, then why doesn’t she do something about her hair? You described it as kinky, curly, grey blonde mess….so why doesn’t she dye it to make her look younger? I think she not as vain as you all make out and her wrinkle free skin is from staying out of the sun and the use of plenty of sunblock (which may explain why her face is sometimes shiny, because that’s how my face is when I wear high factor sunblock).
Truthbtold, My statements are not contradictory; La Kidman’s behaviour is. It is not up to me to advise her that if she is going to maintain a wrinkle-free face, she ought not have grey-blonde hair. That is her own (contradictory) choice; I merely stated what I had seen up-close and personally. If your friends ‘met’ her, as you say, then chances are it was not just randomly bumping into her on the street, as I have done. (Using the word ‘met’ would imply a rather more controlled environment in which a ‘meeting’ could take place.) When I saw her, she had no makeup on, her hair was pulled up rather tightly into a chignon and her face looked freakishly immobile and wax-like. A shiny face from high-factor sunblock is one thing; looking as though she would have trouble moving her face is another, and I am not the only person who would testify to that. As for your question of why she doesn’t dye her hair to make herself appear younger, you would have to pose that question to Ms. Kidman herself; I am in no position to speculate in that wise. As I stated, I merely bumped into her on the street, hardly the proper setting for a complete stranger to ask an actress, ‘Sorry, lovey, but why not dye the hair so as to appear younger?’
From what you say LondonGirl, it seems she has no problems going out in public sans make up and with greying hair. Isn’t that’s what growing old gracefully is? Hardly obsessive behaviour of someone trying to look young. As for the botox, I don’t know anything about that, but maybe she didn’t move her face because she didn’t feel like smiling at you. Some people are very good at sensing hostility, lol!
Is it an optical illusion or what? Her lip seems to be stretched out and / or pulled down toward the nightstand…anyone else see that? Or is there something behind them and her lip just lines up with it perfectly? It’s kinda freaking me out.
LondonGirl, I’ve seen Nicole in Nashville and I completely agree with you. I wouldn’t even know what color to describe her hair. She should pick a color and stick with it.
It’s too bad because she used to have a gorgeous mane. But now she’s just desperate and old.
Not only that, I’ve seen her interact with people - she couldn’t be snootier. She’s ice cold with the Starbucks crew, and she won’t even talk to the people at the nail salon. Guess she figures the little Vietnamese are not worth her time.

Truthbtold, I would strongly suggest that you find photos of Ms. Kidman when she first entered the film world and now. She does not look at all like the same person, and it is quite obvious to anyone that she has had a great deal of work done. Whether she smiled at me or not is irrelevant; I don’t smile at strangers in the street as a general rule, so why should she be any different? Good for her if she chooses to appear in public sans make-up and perfectly styled hair. I do not, however, consider that to be the definition of growing old gracefully. Growing old gracefully to me means not caring if wrinkles appear at the corners of your eyes when you smile, which is exactly what Botox is meant to prevent. Growing old gracefully means accepting the features you were born with and not changing them. Growing old gracefully means being unafraid to be portrayed as you are (thank you, Daniel Craig), without the benefit of airbrushing. If you look closely at photos of Kidman from the mid-1980s and now, there are very blatantly obvious differences in her facial structure. In my opinion, she has had a great deal of work done to her face, and it would appear that a number of other posters on this site agree with me. Disagree with me if you will, but until you’ve seen her on the street, under normal lighting conditions, without makeup, with her hair unstyled, I will hold to my opinion, which does not include the words ’stunning’ or ‘beautiful’, but rather ‘average’.
My heart is powding for Daniel!!!!! I LoVE him, such a man.
