Brad Pitt Filming in the Caribbean
Brad Pitt (dressed in a Lacoste polo) and Cate Blanchett were spotted filming scenes earlier today in the Caribbean for their new film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Thank goodness Brad’s character ages backwards because all that baldness and that fat suit did not suit him. Plus, it gave him pimples.
A zit for Mr. Pitt? Well, according to Cate, the fat suit and the prosthetic make-up Brad had to wear caused him to break out in a rash. Cate told Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper: “We went through three weeks of make-up tests and he was covered in eczema from it all. We were talking about what we were going to do because our skin was taking a battering. So I had this girlie conversation with him and put these skin creams down, lined them up in front of him and he and Angelina went around the table trying them. Brad is so smart and generous. He’s so wonderful I love him. I don’t love him in the sense that I love my husband, but I adore him.”
A little more about the plot: As Brad’s character (Benjamin Button) regains his youth, Cate’s character (Daisy) grows older. The movie’s million dollar question: Will their love continue to grow? (I also wonder how young Brad’s character will get in the film.)
Brad, 43, and Cate, 37, were also seen taking a lunch break after filming a few scenes on a sailboat named “BUTTON UP.” Below the boat name is “NEW ORLEANS.” The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is directed by David Fincher (Panic Room, Fight Club, Se7en) and is set for a release between Christmas 2007 and May 2008. Light years away…

I feel like crying too , i went there on vacation.

So you totally know how I’m feeling. I imagine they probably rented “Cottage 7″ which is the private compound on Scott Beach that the Rockafellers would stay in. It’s totally isolated from the rest of the resort. We stayed on Scott Beach for our honeymoon and you could walk to one end of the beach and see a set of stairs leading down to the beach from the cottage. We were in room 70 and everytime we would give our room number the people would question us if we were saying room 7-D or room 70. We found out then that the cottage rooms are broken up into 7A, 7B, 7C and 7D.
It is sooooo beautiful. It really holds a special place in my heart. I can just imagine the fun that Maddox is having there, the snorkeling is insane. Right on Scott beach we had sea turtles swimming with us, sting rays. I snorkled for hours there.
Gosh, I’m making myself depressed.
stardust, I don’t like DT either. He is not a gentleman. He is a bore.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
They are staying at Caneel Bay on Saint John which is where we went for our Honeymoon - I knew it would be there.
It is sooooo exquisite and a private compound with 7 private beaches, only registered guests can come in on the dock and be on any of the beaches. When we were there it was like we were the only two people there.

Oh gosh - I’m going to seriously cry. Seriously cry. This will be my most favorite Brad movie ever if they are really filming at the resort.
I want to cry……..

Thank you for the info!!

You’re welcome. I wouldn’t be surprised if they stayed a little longer. Caneel is extremely romantic, it’s lit up with torches at night. It’s intoxicating really. I felt like a princess there. We so want to take our kids there some day because they see the pictures and we tell them how amazing it was. But it’s soooo expensive, so I don’t know if we’ll ever make it back. Just to have that feeling again that we had there, it was magical. I cry every time I think about it.

I’m out gone to work!!
Hi Ate Cha! Howdy! You know the new issue of Hello Canada Magazine has Angelina Jolie as their cover story. Gorgeous picture too. Do you want one? Just let me know so I can send you one. Chat later…off to work too.
Re: Hello Magazine. The way the finalists are determined are through monthly contests that run over the year. Each month there are six women in Attractive and six in elegant and then six men in the male category. Brad is in the current (January) male category right now. Although the last I looked Sean Bean was first in the male yearly vote off, Orlando Bloom and Clive Owen have huge fan clubs who seem to vote daily with both of them getting over 20,000 votes on the monthly. Angie may not make it either–the queens and princesses also have huge fan clubs. I’m just hoping Britney Spears doesn’t win. The thought of that gives me the want to blow chunks syndrome! I’m kind of brain dead this a.m., but Nicole Kidman has been a past winner I believe several times. As you can tell, I’m a Hello Magazine reader online!

Thanks Creativegirl for the link. So regular folks like us already knew why they are in the Carribean as early as dec 28. Lainey probably got her tip about them vacationing in the area for the holidays from someone working on the movie set. I can’t stop at looking at Mr Pitt’s pictures. PerezH has two pics of BP with comments scribbled on: “I’m hot” and “yes, you are”. So darn cute.
Thanks JJ, Brad looks Great, He looks to be in his 20’s,, Amazing
to ORCHID,
The reason I said Princess Mary, she is the closest person to Britney in this voting. I can’t bear Britney, sorry!
Rania is a very special woman from Middle East. In one of the magazines (Gala) in France, it’s said that she has been having problem with her husband King Abdullah. I hope that it’s not true.
P.S. it’s SNOB; not snop, pardon
vote for Brad also

Everytime I think of Bringing Sexy Back, I think of The Jolie-Pitts. Hollywood was sorta stale don’t you think with ref to sexiness before MAMS-But when these 2 hooked up on screen the e- was like splitting the atom!-Jolie was already sexy and Brad well, I really never thought of him as sexy, just smart, articulate and cute. But from the moment he looked at her in the first scene of MAMS, I was like-Hold up! Then the Bogata dance happened and it was just over. JA should have filed right after that scene because it was evident to me that these 2 were gonna have a future. They totally brought sexy back. In fact, my little boy (the 7yo) is obsessed with anyword that has sex in it. Another kid beat me to the punch when explaining sex. The kid told him sex is when 2 ppl get naked and rub their butts together. When my son asked me I told him THAT IS NOT TRUE! It’s just what “Christian’s” parents do (of course Christian is the little boy who told him that). Anyway the kid wants to know who invented sex anyway-well you know I had to tell him-This guy named Brad Pitt and his wife Angelina! Yep they invented it!
d
cool film
I think Mary is deserving ‘Mediterranean’. I too love Rania but Mary has a larger fan base at the moment. The Britney run-up is probably a disgruntled group who want to stick it to HELLO. Two years ago there was a group incensed that Aishwarya Rai didn’t win even though her numbers were through the roof. Apparently there was some computer rigging that slammed the votes for her and HELLO recognized it and didn’t give her the title. Could be retribution to the mag via the Britney votes.

Yes but their is the nomination of the most Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. And the whole cast of Babel in nominated includng Brad. :)
Looks like if the Departed wins for Best Picture at the Oscars Brad won’t get an Oscar and neither Brad Grey. (Thanks to intothegrinder)
Grey loses push for credit on ‘Departed’
Paramount’s chief had a key role in getting the film made but may miss out on Oscar glory.
By Claudia Eller, Times Staff Writer
And the Oscar may not go to … Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey.
Grey on Wednesday lost an aggressive bid to be recognized by the Producers Guild of America as one of the producers of Martin Scorsese’s hit crime drama “The Departed.”
That means the producer-turned-studio chief has zero chance of walking away with an Oscar for best picture should the Warner Bros. film win unless he takes his case to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Even then, the academy, which will award the gold statuettes on Feb. 25, would have to overrule the guild’s decision.
But any such move to appeal carries big risks for Grey. Not only could it come off as an unseemly grab for personal glory to Hollywood insiders and his bosses at Viacom Inc., it would put him in direct competition with his own studio. Paramount’s “Dreamgirls” and “Babel,” which also received guild nominations, are strong contenders for the best picture Oscar.
In unveiling its annual nominations Wednesday, the guild deemed Graham King the film’s only eligible producer. The guild decided just before Christmas to reject’s Grey appeal to be named as a producer should “The Departed” be honored.
Grey was instrumental in getting “The Departed” made at Warner Bros. when he was a top Hollywood talent manager and producer, acquiring in 2003 the remake rights to the Hong Kong hit drama “Infernal Affairs.”
Grey helped Warner hire screenwriter William Monahan and sent the script to Scorsese. He also played a key role in helping negotiate the deals for such key cast members as Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg.
Last week, Scorsese and King wrote a joint letter to the guild, asking it to reconsider.
“Brad absolutely got it to be a go-movie and, in my opinion, for that he deserves credit,” King said in an interview. “However, I don’t make the rules and I do respect the guild’s decision making.”
Others who lobbied on Grey’s behalf included Warner Bros. production chief Jeff Robinov, who gave the studio’s endorsement to crediting Grey. Steven Spielberg, whose company DreamWorks SKG is now owned by Paramount, purportedly encouraged Scorsese to speak up because the guild’s decision seemed arbitrary to him.
Vance Van Petten, executive director of the Producers Guild, declined to comment on the decision, citing confidentiality rules.
The guild will hand out its awards Jan. 20, three days before Oscar nominations are announced.
Grey’s position as head of Paramount probably cost him the credit. He started work more than a month before the movie began production in April 2005. He recused himself from the hands-on producing duties and spent no time on the set.
According to guild rules, executives who work for a studio or financier of a film can’t earn a “Produced by” credit unless they “demonstrate a commitment of time and resources to the production of such significance that such commitment is tantamount to taking a leave of absence from his/her executive duties.” Grey wasn’t working for Warner Bros., but guild officials were concerned his Paramount job kept his focus elsewhere.
On the screen, Grey and Brad Pitt, his former producing partner, are listed as producers along with King. But under an agreement aimed at reining in the number of producers trying to grab Oscar glory, the academy accepts the Producers Guild recommendations as a stamp of approval.
Producers can appeal that decision to the Academy after it unveils its upcoming nominations Jan. 23. Producer Bob Yari last year made an unsuccessful attempt to retain credit on eventual Oscar winner “Crash.”
Grey declined to comment. People who have talked to the studio chief said he was angered by the guild’s decision but had not made up his mind whether to appeal to the academy. Scorsese reportedly advised Grey on Wednesday to appeal to the guild’s executive committee should “The Departed” be nominated.
If Grey does nothing, the Producers Guild’s decision stands, according to Academy Executive Director Bruce Davis.
Grey made a strong push to get the credit on “The Departed” before Christmas, after the guild decided during an arbitration procedure weeks earlier that King was sole producer. The guild arbitrates an average of 10 to 15 cases a year where a film has more than three producers or, in a case like Grey’s, when a producer holds another full-time job.
Each producer is asked to submit a three-page eligibility form specifying what functions he or she performed on the movie. About four dozen tasks, including selection of the director, securing financing and being present on the set, are divided into four categories.
Of those groupings, the guild weighs development and post-production at 30% each; and pre-production and actual production at 20% each. Essentially, a producer must be responsible for 50% of the tasks.
Grey’s proponents claim that under the guild’s own rules, the studio chief should have qualified for credit because of the heavy lifting he did on the front end. At the same time, King, who was hired by Grey and Warner Bros. shortly before “The Departed” began production, had no hand in the film’s development or pre-production but was on the set every day once cameras rolled.
Indeed, it was Grey who, with Warner, first approached King about producing the movie. King, who had made two previous films with Scorsese, “The Aviator” and “Gangs of New York,” was in the midst of signing an overall production deal with the studio.
Although he may not get an Oscar, Grey can still take comfort in receiving a piece of the profit for “The Departed,” which has grossed nearly $120 million domestically to date.
Grey did receive a nomination Wednesday from the guild, but in TV for “The Sopranos.” He has long been a producer of HBO’s hit mafia series, which he helped launch in his former role as head of the Brillstein-Grey management and production company.
A spokesman for the guild said that the eligibility rules for TV series and movies differ since television shows run for extended periods, whereas films are a one-shot deal.
think positive!
Thanks. I just scrolled through to BSActor and did not see his name … my bad!
Thank you Bluemoon for the SAG nomination news. I am disappointed that BP wasn’t nominated, but at least the whole cast is. I root for Rinko to win best supporting actress. I know Cate is excellent in Notes on a Scandall, but she had many awards already, and more to come, I am sure. This probably will be Rinko’s only chance, and she was outstanding in Babel. I am sure she will be in a lot of Japanese films and win a lot of Japanese awards, but not HW related awards. Rinko for best supporting actress, please.
