PARENTS who have encountered difficulties adopting children from countries like Cambodia are shocked that Angelina Jolie would dare to say anything about Madonna’s adoption in Malawi of her son David.

Jolie told French magazine Gala she would “never take a child away from a place where adoption is illegal.” Yet Jolie failed to mention that she adopted her Cambodian son, Maddox, through a group that was later found to be guilty of fraud. Now procedures have been tightened up, and it is next to impossible to adopt from Cambodia.

“Angelina is not a hero in the adoption community,” Tatiana Beams, a Seattle-based international adoption advocate, told Page Six. Beams said parents and other adoption agents are disappointed Jolie “does nothing, or at least very little, to keep international adoption open and legal for American families and children.”

Jolie later backtracked from her criticism of Madonna, and told People.com her words had been twisted. But some adoption advocates remain irked by the star’s failure to acknowledge her own adoption issues.

When Jolie and then-husband Billy Bob Thorton adopted Maddox in 2002, she used Seattle International Adoptions, run by Lauryn Galindo - who was found guilty two years later of visa fraud and money laundering related to Cambodian adoptions.

Beams said that after Jolie’s adoption scandal, Cambodia closed its doors, and many families who were waiting to acquire children were left empty-handed.

“She [Jolie] adopted Maddox under a questionable agency, where the directors went to prison.” Beams added, “It would be nice to see her speak out on issues and policies surrounding international adoption.”

David Ptasnik, director of Americans Adopting Orphans, admits he was uncomfortable with some practices of Jolie’s agency, but said that at the time, “it was the largest agency in the world. Angelina Jolie wouldn’t know that she was entering into a questionable adoption.”

This is a fans video from the TGS premiere…it is insane, really puts you right smack dab in the middle of the hysteria…Brad & Angie can literally start a riot….it was craaaazayyyy intense…the screaming…gah.

I am having a busy day and am catching up with this thread.

I want to say thank you again to lylian, ntt and everyone who was here last night.
It was great to see the Variety reporter clarify who the less-informed party was!!

Ntt, I did send an email to Defamer - and I won’t hold my breath waiting for an answer.
I posted the Variety reporter’s clarification on the other blog.

I wish we could set the rags straight, but that is an impossible task since the very nature of the rags demands that they publish garbage.

But now more than ever I believe that our voices do count. It was a small victory but a very sweet indeed.

Let me say it again: Brad is a wonderful, caring, well informed, decent human being.
And so is Angelina, whether the yellowish media out there likes it or not. They may start a smear campagne but they can’t change who B&A are.

The slang phrase knocked up has used by people with planned and unplanned pregnancy. Hello magazine ackowledged Elle as their source. When I read the Elle comments in its entirety, I felt Angelina was saying that it was her who changed not Brad. I think she was alluding to changing to have Brad’s baby.

Jennifer Garner used that slang on either Jay Leno or David Letterman but nobody raised an eyebrow or dissected and overanalyzed it. That treatment is only reserved for Angelina. I have never seen another actress have every word out of her mouth so dissected both by fans and foes.

Yeah, I was just thinking…about that lawsuit Brad was considering against E! for trespassing onto their property in Malibu, I’d say he should just go for it.

I had a hard time getting past the whole breakup. However, after reading your story and seeing the photos, it is obvious how in love he and Angelina Jolie are. I applaud them for putting so much heart and soul not only into raising their children in a loving environment but also for raising them to be proud, aware, and kind.
