Golden Globe predix, part 1: best pictures
If members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had voted back when the Golden Globe nominations came out in mid-December, the winners would be very different from what they will be this Monday night. Over the past few weeks I’ve chatted with lots of them and dished with others close to the group, charting the evolution of HFPA groupthink.

Originally, they would’ve voted for “The Departed” for best drama pic. That might still happen, but the growing surge for “Babel” — which they helped to build by giving it the most nominations — will now probably pay off with a top win. The “Babel” bandwagon has become such a giant iron juggernaut that it’s even possible that Adriana Barraza could even pull off an upset over “Dreamgirls’” Jennifer Hudson! Really! I don’t think it’ll happen, but that’s among the jawdroppers that could occur at the gala.

But “Dreamgirls” has rallied, too. Initially, it didn’t do as well as expected among the nominees. Poor Bill Condon got gypped out of bids for writing or directing. Back then HFPA membership was still a bit too over-smitten with all that “Borat” biz, so much so that “Borat” probably would’ve beaten “Dreamgirls” for best comedy/musical pic if the vote had been held in mid-December. Not only was the national craze hitting full tilt then, but the Hollywood foreign press has a special, highly personal affinity for this film about a foreign journalist feeling goofy and out of place in America. Maybe even call it a spiritual connection.

But that hysteria’s died down a bit and perhaps reason has been (somewhat) restored. Since mid-December “Dreamgirls” has had a sensational boom at the box-office and standing ovations mid-movie coast to coast. HFPA is impressed by that. Now they’re leaning back toward “Dreamgirls,” which would’ve ebeen their national inclination anyway. At the Globes successful musicals usually win: think “Moulin Rouge,” “Chicago” and “Evita.” But they must be perceived as successful, which “Dreamgirls” is.

why would he sue them? they are only repeating what she said. if she truly cared about the potential of her words getting “twisted” (and they are not twisting anything), then she should have been smart enough to know that she would need to clarify and make her sentiments really clear. but as it is, she was clear as she could be. she loves the others more and is more attentive to them. there’s no way to talk around that, people, try as you might.

how come we havent seen shi in a baby bjorn? angelina can’t be bothered because it would mean that she would be forced to attend to shi and she just cant do that.

Of course Brad will be there. BABEL was one of the nominees for Best Film. He will always support this film. he’s proud of it. The Golden Globes are one step up from the People’s Choice but one step down from the SAG and two steps down from the Oscars. The GG nominations and winners are chosen by about 55 people.

This is what I don’t understand. All the entertainment shows did this little smear from Arquette today and they expect Brad to smile and chit chat with them on the red carpet ? Don’t they think? they are not very smart. I think Joan & Melissa Rivers will have the exclusive on the carpet because the TV guide channel doesn’t really have a gossip show and as far as I know Joan nor Melissa has never really said anything really negative about Brad or Angelina. Just when it seemed that celebrity feuding had exhausted every possible
manifestation, a new one has popped up: Courteney Cox vs. The San Francisco Chronicle TV critic’s notion of male fantasy partners.

It began last week when, Tim Goodman, Chronicle TV critic, wrote of
Cox in his review of “Dirt,” “(S)he’s not the type of woman that men
tend to imagine in the masturbation arena.”

Passing over the issue of whether writing for a newspaper that allows

I tell you why angie need NOT clarify “shiloh”’s comment.
all you have to do is to put yourself in her shoes, think, and use common sense.

1) Shiloh is family. As Shiloh grows and begins to understand , she will know who Angie is as a mother. She can make her decision and form her own opinion based on her daily living and interactions with her mother. She will be able to decipher what is fact and what is tabloid. If Angie is a good mother, Shiloh will feel and know about it. Remember she is a human being with a brain. She will grow to DIFFERENTIATE what is love/hate, fact/tabloid, friends/foes, good/evil etc.

2) Words printed on magazine are meaningless and were twisted. I am sure any people with a normal IQ can figure that out. Angie does not need to spoon-feed the magazine with words to show her love. Therefore there is no need to clarify. I will not worry about Shiloh.

3) Tabloids magazines dont stand the test of time. Those trash will not be archived at the Library of Congress. One month later, you will not even find any of those magazines left. Local libraries certainly dont shelf those trash.

4) In madonna’s case, it is a more of a “immediate” situation. Angie has to clarify to the public that her words were taken out of context, otherwise madonna’s adoption will be affected. As a responsible adult, she did the correct thing. She told people mag, and clarify the whole situation. This is a wise move. I applaud her for that. To see her article, just log on to people.com

5) you may say it wont harm doing the same for Shiloh.(see point #1). She does not need to, and i totally agree. If she starts doing that, she will be busy everyday refuting this and that. Her time is better use somewhere else.

6) Both Brad and Angie are good parents. The children are in good hands, with good upbringing. I am optimistic that their children will grow up as self-assured and responsible citizens.

The only Ent show that was whack was E and the Insider. The Insider did a cut up job of David’s interview but all the other and especially Access Hollywood allowed you to watch David in full context. Howard was egging him on and David was joking and then he went into all kidding aside…

David though, man, between him giggling like a girl and being spaced out I don’t know which is worse. He’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer. You can see why CC lets JA hang with her 24/7. She needs to be able to conduct a conversation with someone

BTW-You said that the Insider had the DA’s interview with HS. Did they had taped it from the radio so you can hear it or they just repeated the transcript?? Because in the transcript he said that “But Kidding aside about this whole thing…” after saying that Angie was the cause and he laughed too. The writer Sheryl Garrett called Shiloh a “blob” and allegedly Angelina agreed with the analogy. You’re so consumned you miss the whole point.

Someone up thread is “hoping nobody take” our husbands. This seems to be a recurrent fear of people who do not like Angelina… that a beautiful woman would “take” one’s husband. So sad… poor pathetic insecure females living in fear of losing a man! Dependency is so old-fashioned I sometimes think it went extinct, but then some unhappy dinosaur reminds me there are fossils everywhere.

Look we have already bit that issue to death on the previous threads. If you haven’t read them and you have the time read them and what other people said. I know that it is upseting but I think you are acting a bit imotionaly that rationaly about it. And as someone said on the previous thread some people here are acting like it is the first time that blogers and channels have twisted everything and make nasty remarks about Brad and Angie.They are doing it for tow years. There is nothing new in the picture.

If Brad will speak the only result will be more exploitation, more sensationalism, more spinning and more lies. It will not save the situation. It will make it worse that it is now. The only thing these people want is to get a reaction from Brad or Angie to use them ones again and spin their words and creat a scandal and fights. Brad and Angie are not playing their game and that is pisses them off. Brad and Angie are way more mature to fall in to this trap. They are not giving them the satisfaction.

Thanks for the video link on the Button thread showing B&A walking together at the premiere for the movie God Never Grew Tired of Us….what loving gestures…she’s rubbing his back and that kiss at the end just made me “Aaaaaahhhhh”. My dog looked at me a little funny, but that helped me put all the **** about Mr. CoX into perspective. They have each other, they don’t Mr. Dlisted whipped Arquette in their corner. ITA. E! is trying to attract a younger and larger group with Gu and Ryan, and they are not succeeding. They do no research on their stories, and notice they never have any exclusive info. ET is still getting all the interviews that E! wishes they had because ET tries very hard to stay neutral, be professional, and just present a story. E! has pushed out everyone interesting. Gu chased and panted after GC for years in every interview, and she is still angry that Ryan was hired and paid so much by E!. I do like Sal on the Daily 10 and it seems that the Daily 10 has to clean up the misinformation on E! news on a regular basis, and that is a shame. Brad and Angelina do not give any of their time to E! at all, and that was quite evident at TGS in New York.

Agreed ahem. In the clip I saw on ET, he came across like he was drunk off his ass, and extraordinarily stupid. The fact that these shows ran this clip, says more about the power of Brad & Angelina to dictate the celebrate news cycle, than it did about David Cox revealing all. I read the transcript and that’s the conclusion I came to, too. The reason the tabs and shows came to a different conclusion is because it makes better headlines and it tells the Fanistons what they want to hear. Now when they have to re-tract it…it’s not going to get as much airtime. They all know what’s going to bring the ratings in. They don’t give a rat’s ass about the truth. I read the transcript and that’s the conclusion I came to, too. The reason the tabs and shows came to a different conclusion is because it makes better headlines and it tells the Fanistons what they want to hear. Now when they have to re-tract it…it’s not going to get as much airtime. They all know what’s going to bring the ratings in. They don’t give a rat’s ass about the truth.
