Janet Jackson has made many a private donation and gives endless money, the reason you don’t know about it is because she unlike Jolie doesn’t make it a media event for good press.
*****************
Yeah, Janet just chooses to pose half naked on the cover of every freakin’ magazine that will have her.
Same with Maniston. She just takes her top off for the cover shots.
These require no intelligence on their part. They would rather do this kind of media event than actually do some research on what they are “privately donating” to.

Angelina also does a lot of private donations that don’t get published. She has donatated to the building of clinics, schools, orphanages, sewing machines, etc. It is only since she and Brad have been together that the media has made a big deal of her donating because the spot light is on every move she makes now. She has always been very private about her donations. My gawd, she really doesn’t have a lot of money, by Hollywood standards. I admire her even more now.

I thought last year’s Forbes list said Angelina was worth about $80,000,000. What happened? Does anyone have access to last year’s list? How could she go from 80, to not being on the list this year?

LightBulb @ 01/18/2007 at 3:33 pm

JJ: please post a list with Angelina Jolie at the top so the fans can rest easy and start saying how the list is real and fair and how AJ is great.

no no no.

We want him to post a pic and list of Angelina’s accomplishments instead:

Mother of 3
UN Ambassador for Refugees
1/3 donation of salary
Oscar
SAG
Golden Globe (George Wallace/Gia/Girl Interrupted)
2 million last year to Doctors Without Borders
AIDS work

and so on and so on and so on.

That is why she is great.

And while at it, JJ, post info on Meryl Streep’s accomplishments to (who is not on the list). The Queen of all things “acting”.

johnosahon @ 01/18/2007 at 3:44 pm

where the **** did jennifer aniston get 110 million, what the else has she done since friends?

LoL
Angelina giving away all her money certainly explains why she looks starved recently!

Who cares if Angelina is not one of the Top Greediest - I mean Richest women in America.
So long as she continues to support her charities and be a good mother to her children, SHE”LL ALWAYS BE ON THE TOP OF MY LIST!!!!!!!!

You don’t get it. my point was…why has this thread become a bashing thread? When I go to BAMZS thread, I have learned to scroll down and ignore trolls because of their hate and ignorance. So, when I saw this…I came to give props to these women. But instead, it has become a JA verus Jolie thread. And it wasn’t even a JA fan that started it. It was a BAMZS fan. I know because of the hate and trolls that we’ve been subjective to, we have become defensive, to a point where we don’t even wait for the trolls to have the first dib…we do it first. And for that…it’s kind of sad, but it’s what some of the BAMZS fan have become. I’ve even seen some of the BAMZS fans wishing that JA would drop dead. O.O Isn’t that how the trolls talk? so…why are we turning into one?

what the hell is judge judy doing on that list? and how are the olsen twins so rich?

Ryan Secrest aka Closet Case went off on Angleina on his morning show complaining she did not answer his questions at Golden Globes.

If you’d like to complain about Seacrest and the E Television bashing of Angie (Jay Alexander said she was rude) and he also called the Asian actress from Babel a poodle. Then please write to E Entertainment Television and complain. Pass the word around. They have to stop. How dar they call this wonderful Japanese actress a “poodle”?????

Her eis the contact info for E Television. I have written my letter of complaint already. Also write to the advertisers of KIIS Los Angeles to complain about Seacrest :)

HOTTEST COUPLE EVER @ 01/18/2007 at 3:58 pm

I love CLINIQUA as well, she is always “right on the money”.

This list works the same way People magazines Most Beautiful list works: It’s all about publicity I’m sure. Not about who is really the richest. How would Forbes know anyways? I doubt any of those stars would disclose their income let alone their whole fortune to them.

Great posts!! Loved reading them. Curly, you have your facts in place. Admire you for your impeccable posts.
Firstly, the main reason iam here on this site is because i admire jolie-pitts for all their humanitarian deeds. They are way richer than any of us here, but richness and wealth only makes sense when it is well spent. I’ve seen and heard of people who were millionAIRES and reduced to bankruptcy in afew years all because of their excessive spending habits. To spend money wisely is what finally matters no matter how rich you are. To strike a balance between donating and spending on self is a challenge on its own. If you worked hard to earn so much money then you deserve to spend some on yourself. And again to donate it takes a huge heart. But as one poster here mentioned, a lot of ladies who have made it to the top here are’nt very generous. Atleast it seems so. When a celebraty donates, it should make headlines because this is a huge inspiration to all their fans to start donating too.

i’m really not surprised by any of the names but by the fact that the majority are single and don’t have any children. i guess it’s true that marriage and kids suck up all your money.

keep it up, ladies. but don’t forget to give something back!

I forgot who said it, but this not about the x and Angie. If Angie is making less money and donating privately or out in the open, the fact that she isn’t on the list should say something positive about her. Forget the x. She earned her money. There was no divorce settlement. Leave her alone, smirk, smirk, smirk.:):):) Just be happy that Angie still finds it in heart to give out of what she has. Do quesstion who is giving, and who isn’t. Not everyone understands things the same way. Now please tell me how Angie went from being on the list last year with $80, to not being on the list at all this year. Some of you computer whiz kids can you find that info. I am challenged big time on a computer.

ITA

MISTAKE: The Olsen Twins are 20, not 22. (Doesn’t that make you feel a whole lot better?) I always remember how old they are because when I was little, I was fascinated with the fact that they’re the same age as my brother. Lame, I know :P.

Boo! They’re all facking overpaid, even the ones not on this list. I’m shocked that Aniston made the list, though I don’t hate her. She may not have the prettiest chin, but DAMN, ***** is loaded! As much as everyone hates on her here, she’s still filthy, stinking rich. Suck it!
And that settles it, Janet! With that much money, you can sit your expired ass down and start making babies with JD instead of releasing embarassments like “Call On Me” and “So Excited”. Don’t get all Mike on me, though.
Mary Kate and Ashley? God, I can’t write all the gruesome things I would to do their asses on here.
Britney…that settles it. This list is outdated. No way is she that rich now.
But remember guys, money doesn’t buy happiness….oh, who am I ******* kidding?

Aiko Says:

You may be right that I did not see your perspective on the point of bashing. But please try to see how the story you are celebrating by “more power to these women” is erroneous of and in itself. If we are to celebrate this story as it is, then other questions arise, with some answers not so pleasant.

1. Given the unfortunate structures in the society they are living in, do these “powerful” women are showing any kind of interest to these issues, at least in terms of public awareness? This is above and beyond the question of who is giving how much, it is also about who is shedding light to the problems. The total worth in this list is a drop in a vast ocean of the problems, but they have the power to turn light to issues that “they” care about. I would not write what I wrote if I did not believe that personal wealth brings also about public responsibility. Some wealthy people also seem to embrace the idea, a few unwillingly perhaps.

2. Assume that it is a personal choice to show interest to the problems in the society, so it is acceptable that some of the names (note that I am not singling out JA) in the list live the life of a plant in a pot; and still celebrate the money making power of these women. Even then, is it not reasonable to ask if they show any interest to the problems in the industry they are working on? Such as mentoring.

Giving away is not always about the beneficiaries because of pure altruism, it is sometimes about making sure that life after you will remember your existence at one point, so giving away may be selfish as well.

Try to see these points under the light that many women working in the industry are still being paid less than males. The way I see the list is very few names are actively engaged in doing some “public” good either because they care about their legacy or care about other people. So I can not just check their wealth and not ask, I wonder what they do to give back, especially if I am looking at numbers of the unfortunate under my finger tips every day.

3. And lastly, there was a recent piece in NYT about charities. The research has shown that “showing up in a gala, buying tickets, etc.” is the least effective way of reaching the target “poor/needy” population, mostly because in these event the organizations need to pay for so many overhead costs (rent of the place, etc). That may be the reason why wealthy people sincerely interested in philanthropy may be setting up their own foundation, less leak in the pipe.

Hopefully you also will get my point, sad but I see nothing to celebrate given the majority of performance regarding the points above of the women making to the list.

All the best,
~curly

eh…you know what? nvm…I’ll just learn to also scroll pass all the hate.

btw, some of you guys really do have good and valid post. I really enjoy reading them.

that goes the same to you too curly~

I do get it. It’s just that I hate all the bashing. I’ve had enough of them from JA’s fans and haters, so I was very surprised to see it here too. And when I saw that…it made me think that it was inviting more hate. hate attracts hate.

anyways…I enjoy your post.

Im pretty sure that list isnt very accurate just like the list that comes out with the paychecks each celeb makes on a movie.

Jolie4ver @ 01/18/2007 at 4:55 pm

Chinocchio = $110 million

Angie ♥ Brad ♥ Maddox ♥ Zahara ♥ Shiloh = PRICELESS

Janet Jackson has given more to aids charities than jolie has made in her entire career. Angelina fans need to get over it.

Hrmm. Anti-Aniston much on this page? Especially going crazy who certainly lives up to whatever the hell it’s name (him? her? Let’s just leave it at IT). As for Cliniqua. No one has an OBLIGATION to ANYTHING in this country be it celebrity or non-celebrity. This is not a fascist state here mein hitler! So since no one is asking you to shut your piehole on talking about things you clearly know nothing about, you can extend some tact when posting irrelevant bias based on your immature posing for position based on the lives of celebrities. I won’t be back to this page so you needn’t bother retaliating. It’ll be a waste of your breath.

Although, i should re-iterate the fact that J K Rowling does a lot of donations too, especially for the multiple sclerosis foundation since her mother died from it at a very young age. I keep track on this woman because iam a huge fan of HArry Potter. Wanted to let you ladies know that some of these women are genuinely into charities and stuff like that although majority of them seem pretty selfish and self-centered. JA, Janet, Cameron, Julia………… come on ladies, you can do better than that!! The money these ladies have in total can easily write off the debts of certain third world countries!!!

Money is a crazy thing to own. The more you have, the more you want it. That’s how the formula works. I wont be surprised if any of these ladies are financially insecure!!! The general perception is that having loads of money make you feel secure and safe but i think it does’nt. I think more the money the more you spend and hence you grow more insecure because if at all you lose all the money then your whole life collapses now that you have a different lifestyle altogether. Does anyone here understand what iam trying to say??? I think nuff of blabbering, i guess. Bottomline, i think money will not make a person feel more secure or safe, be it financially or emotionally.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I agree. Janet’s proved time and time again that she can be a very generous as well as talented woman. Her brother (you know which one) has proved to be a very charitable person as well, as weird as he is now. I’m not gonna rip on Angelina because I think what both women are doing is good, but people need to stop acting as if Angelina’s the only person who does charity work. I like her, but that comment she made about America not caring enough for refugees several months ago has knocked her down a few posts in my book. She knows that if the US did try focus more on the issue, it would only come off of our tax money. I’m in a Taiwanese charity organization (YES, the UN isn’t the only) that probably no one here’s ever heard of, and we do many good things for the underpriveleged. I say, if people want to do good, God knows it, but I’m not supporting ripping more hard-earned money from people without their consent.
With that being said, these mofos are still waaaaay overpaid for their “contributions” to society.
