Thanks Just Jared for the new thread. However, the NYT link was so unnecessary. Sometimes it is good to be a supporter even in the world of negative blogging. AJ is a good person and a good humanitarian. She will rise above all the negative BS as she always does. She does not live her life by people’s perception of her. It is disturbing when so-called reputable media has to rely on tabloid gossip and innuendos to write an article. AJ has been very open and candid about her past and mistakes she has made in life. She has grown into a woman who cares about issues and problems throughout the world. It is so easy to write snarky and false stories behind a desk. The true measure of a human being is one that has been in the field and has seen first hand the human suffering in the world. I wish AJ all the best. You are an inspiration to many. Best wishes to Babel and the Departed during Oscar Nominations.

Good article from the NYT! Like it!

As I said in another thread…..plant a seed…..water it by talking about it, causing it to grow and take root in places we never expected. We here are responsible for breathing life into that NYT article. We gave it CPR!! We are talking to the hand because the face ain’t or hasn’t listened folks!

Why does Brad have to stand up and shout his feelings for Angie. Those are feelings he shares with HER….not us! We are lucky to see more glimpses of it during their recent public appearances together. Personally, I think they have been in love with each other longer than we know….I’m thinking since April/May 2004…..judging by Angie’s confession in Vogue that they were so used to NOT being together for so long….and her comment that a few months in she said “God I can’t wait to get to work in the morning…..

We also have to remember that Brad has not yet given an in-depth one on one interview with any publication or media outlet. You can bet when he does, his words will be picked apart too….Hello!! Remember his comment in Esquire on WHY he and Angie are not getting married??? My guess is he will talk about Angie & their family when Ocean’s Thirteen comes out in June 2007. You just know there will be another sit down interview with the Ocean’s 13 cast, just like they did for the first two movies. I’m hoping that he does “Inside the Actors Studio” at some point too. By then it will have been over two years since his marriage ended, long enough time for folks to move on.

I truly understand your frustrations and what appears to be your suppressed anger at Brad for what you describe as his failure to publicly verbalize his love and support of Angie.
But please, take it from someone who works in the western media (not in America - lol - but they’re all the same, in terms of the blurring of the lines between “hard news” and entertainment): smart people, like Brad, know that YOU NEVER VOLUNTEER YOURSELF TO BECOME THE SUBJECT OF A MEDIA STORY! Its bad enough when one HAS TO be interviewed (for example, for professional reasons) and, therefore, run the risk of having your intentions misconstrued and your words taken out of context. So given those risks already, a smart person does not VOLUNTARILY subject him/herself to media scrutiny - they’re gonna have their say, anyway, so why give them ammunition against yourself?
You must not forget that Brad’s major in college was journalism and advertising - he knows the biz. Can you imagine what the vultures will do with them both if he comes out and “defends” Angie? Thats when the media will have their field day. That is great!! I don’t mind that Brad is not nominated. I don’t think he has a problem either. The movie he was in is getting nomination and that is great. Brad have said that he is really proud of being a part of this movie. So it’s all good. :)

Like many supporters of Ms. Jolies efforts, I was equally frustrated by the NYT article. The diffence being, I let my disappontment be known directly to Ms. James. In short, I pointed out that there are many in hollywood that had unpopular high profile relationships (e.g., Claie D, Kate H., Meg R. Tom C., etc) yet, the media seems to focus only on Ms. Jolie.

I also mentioned the bad behavior of many celebs on the red carpet — which was usually directed towards to interviewer (e.g., Joan Rivers & Star Jones). Unfortunateley, the media choose not to air the pleasant interview Ms. Joile & Mr. Pitt did with Pat O. (Inside edition) because, it lacked the sensationalisum they crave. As for Ryan’s comment on his radio show — what a hypocrit. He’s one to talk compared to the behavior exhibited toward candidates on American Idol.

It’s a sad state of affairs, when Paris Hilton is applauded and Ms. Jolie is ridiculed for her efforts. What has this world come to …

Yep! I completely agree with that Dragon. He was on screen only for 15 minutes. He was nominated for a GG and Babel won Best Picture in GGs and now Babel is nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars too along with other nominations. That is pretty cool for me. Brad will have many chances to get it in the future. :)

why is it that ryan asked such annoying questions. He asked the same stuff to patrick dempsey about his wife having twins & just personal cute stuff to other celebrities & they didn’t have a problem with it. If the fans start blaming Brad, the press has achieved what it wanted. Yesterday was good with all the support that fans gave by writing to the NYT. I love Brad and Angie no matter what. Let them be. They can’t be everything to everybody. Congratulations to the Babel cast.

I wonder if they’ll go to Davos now that Brad doesn’t have a supporting actor nomination and they don’t need to endure the red carpet again. I say leave the country that doesn’t seem to want them. Another poster pointed out how many countries would be happy to have them. The world is their oyster, and the U.S. seemed to be kinder to them when they weren’t here.

Rumor has it on an adoption listserve my friend is on that they may be adopting a child from Vietnam (you know they’ve been there twice now in very short order, although they give a different reason publicly for going). That would be very soon after Shiloh’s birth to bring someone new into the family, but hey, I adopted two infants at once in Vietnam, and I don’t regret it for a minute. Cambodia closed up so fast very soon after Maddox came home; international adoption IS a thing where you think “Let’s hurry up and do this before the rules change.” And the whole Madonna hoopla probably scared them and sent them even further underground with details about their plans.

You never really DARE to say to yourself it’s really happening until you have the child in your lap on the airplane and are getting out of the country….the wait is so long and there are so many barriers in the process. I say get Maddox an Asian brother from Vietnam, someone who’s not an infant anymore. I am all in favor of bunching up your family with a bunch of kids nearly the same age. Who else are they going to play with?

At any rate let them leave the country now again for a while, since even the NYT has taken up BAMSZ bashing. Their home study is probably done, and it’s waiting time for the next kid. They don’t need to wait in Los Angeles or New Orleans. Let Brad finish filiming and then get the family out again for awhile. Give the NYT some other fodder. Isn’t Paris Hilton in trouble again?

Well the Academy Award show producers have just cut themselves out of about 3 million people here and God knows how many worldwide watching the broadcast. LOL What dummies. I can’t even think of anyone I want to see at that thing now. Seriously.

Brad didn’t get a nomination but I’m proud of him anyway. He’s living his life out loud and one can tell from his interviews he knows how lucky he is to have the family he does. Living life well is the greatest reward.

I believe that Brad & Angie will be at the Oscars to support his film Babel. Without having a BSA nomination, I’m betting that the academy will ask them to be presenters together, just to get them on the Red Carpet and on the show. Angelina was a presenter back in 2004….remember that White dress she wore…..wow…and it has been a long time since Brad was a presenter.

As someone stated above it would have been hard for Brad to get a Oscar nomination since he (and Jack N) did not receive a SAG nom and they are determined by the same people. For BSA there are a great group of actors….I’m partial to Djimon Hounsou & Mark Walhberg…..Djimon made me cry in BD and Mark W was just great in TD….and I saw Dreamgirls….. I’m thinking that the Academy is not going to just crown the same winners of the GG….and the nominations prove that…..

Right now in New Orleans, Brad is getting a big hug and kiss from his Angie and his kids after hearing the Oscar list. I am sure that those hugs and kisses mean more to him than this award. Sure, as an actor he would like one, and will eventually get it, but as he said of his life before, “I was chasing something that wasn’t fulfilling”. He has learned that there is more to life. Even so, he has movie roles lined up and everyone wants to work with him, either as an actor or with his production house. He is a happy, satisfied man, and Angie loves him very much. He has given Angie “a place to put her passion”, as she put it, and I would never tear him down. He’s a fantastic husband to Angie. Probably the only guy on the planet who is that total package for her. They were practically custom-made for each other.

Does anyone know when his film…”Assasination of Jesse James….” is going to be out? Or has any previews been showed on that movie?

He has been very busy the last couple of years, and so has Angie. To be their assistant…OMG..they sure got their work cut out for themselves. It’s non-stop adventure, and it does not look like it is going to calm down. I have never heard or seen any other celebrities that can even measure up to these two, and how they continue to stay the course in meeting their goals. And to maintain such a healthy relationship, not only with themselves, but also with their beautiful children. I love this couple, and can only see more great things happening in their lives.

Brad in his interview with Diane Sawyer..just right after his divorce, expressed what he was wanting in his life. The journey to Africa, and trying to draw attention toward their needs. What is so obvious is how similar his needs are with Angies. He needed her to help him find himself..and that she did. They completely balance one another……and that is more rewarding than some cold item that can collect dust on a shelf. Now, don’t get me wrong…I would have loved to see him win an award,….but, you know..he is making so many films now, that surely he still has that chance of winning.

When you are not a nominee or a presenter, you really don’t have to do any red carpet interviews. If you are there because you are a part of the cast of a best picture nominee, it’s really about the director/producer & screenwriter. It’s a blessing really. Brad & Angelina can go and support babel and just breeze by waving to everyone on the red carpet without having to stop for interviews.

When a film nominated for best picture like in the case of Babel wins the night of the oscars, isn’t it customary to have the entire cast and producers up the stage to get the oscar (like in the case of Crash last year?)? As for Eddie Murphy – looks to be a slamdunk on paper but I’d hold off on marking off that box on your ballet before seeing how the next few weeks unfold. Was talking to quite a few industry players at Sundance who are on top of the buzz and Alan Arkin from Little Miss Sunshine is “workin’ it” … HARD. Given Eddie’s less than stellar reputation and Alan’s body of work, I wouldn’t be surprised if he sneaks in for a steal.

And will this be Martin’s year? Scorcese finally honoured? Well, I’m told it’ll happen only if Eastwood lets it be so – as it was a few years ago for Million Dollar Baby vs. Aviator. Everyone wants a piece of Clint, Clint has the clout, and if he lobbies for it underground through his cronies, Marty might be left off again. But only if he wants it bad enough…will keep you posted.

By far however, to me at least, the most exciting race has to be Mirren vs Meryl – battle of the Silver Foxes…refreshing, non? Two mature ladies kickin’ it to the young’uns this year.

Personally I’m pulling for Prada, not because I don’t adore Helen but because I didn’t adore The Queen.

And finally, while it might look like the year is lacking in spice, praise Goddess for my Borat. Nominated for Adapted Screenplay, definitely not the favourite, but titillating enough just for his presence. Because as you all know now, Sacha Baron Cohen is The Hotness.

PS. Explanation behind Brad’s snub? Official word is the role was too small and his involvement with Babel as a Best Picture candidate, in addition to producing acknowledgement(yet to be determined) for The Departed was enough of an homage. TreJolie, I just want to jump in here. Despite all the bashing that Angelina is getting, America should, in my view, be very glad that there are citizens like her, who travel, as a representative of the UN, but also, inevitably, as a citizen of the United States of America. America’s image in Asia has gone down tremendously since George Bush became president and the war in Iraq has compounded the decline. We do see the increase risk of terrorism in our region to be directly linked to the botched Iraqi War.

Angelina has been in tremendous ambassador, not just for the UN but also for America by virtue of the fact that she is an American citizen. To me, she represents the part of America that understands the concerns of the rest of the world. She represents the part of America that I remember - their generosity. She isn’t the America, that demonises Muslims or believes that if you are not in agreement with George Bush, you are anti American. Everyone who has seen Lara Croft and M&MS in Asia know of Angelina and like her. They’ve read about her UN work in Africa and Asia and they like that. Many parts of Asia are stlll very poor. We respect the fact that she is helping the poor here.

No, I’m not sanctifying her. There are many american philantrophists who do wonderful work, for example Bill and Melinda Gates, Oprah (yes I know she has a detractors but this woman has my respect for the hardships she has overcome and her charitable work, even if I question the efficacy of the $40m school) and others whom I don’t know. But if people don’t know who the other philantrophists are, then they can’t be ambassadors for the US, which those I’ve mentioned most definitely are.

There is a saying that a prophet is never accepted in their home country. So, perhaps it is with Angelina.

As for Brad saying something. I agree with the poster who works for the media. In the end, this bashing is part of the sick celebrity cycle. When the media thinks they have bashed you enough, they will start to build you up again. This time though, I won’t fall for it either way.

Congrats to Babel. It truly was a great movie with a great ensemble cast. Congrats to BP for being a major part of two great Movies, the Departed and Babel. From what I understood, Jesse James is a small part of the film.

Angelina is a sweetheart and everyone knows that. She has a heart of gold but Hollywood doesn’t want that. It doesn’t sell papers. I wouldn’t want to piss her off though.

There’s more that goes on in Oscar circles than meets the eye. Best proof is Martin Scorsese’s no Oscar history. Surely “Taxi Driver” or “Raging Bull” or “the Goodfellas” or “Mean Streets” were greater directing feats than “Million Dollar Baby” or “Dancing with Wolves”, yet, he received no Oscar.
“Raging Bull” losing to the politically correct “Ordinary People” was ridiculous, to say the least.
And Judi Dench getting an Oscar for a few minutes on screen in “Shakespeare in Love” …..

BAMZS fans, we need to have a party for all the nominations Babel got, eventhough it’s a shame that Brad wasn’t nominated. He was really good in the movie. Everything considered, I am really happy for Brad and for Babel, because I was right to think that Babel is a great movie after I saw it. she’s a big figure, and she still has a large following, so, everything she does will always be under the microscope.

i really don’t see this whole hoopla as hurting her career or popularity because as i said, she has done far worse things in the past (whether she was with somebody or on her own). certainly the whole article gives hope to aniston fans or the haters, but from a bigger perspective, it really isn’t anything big. it’s one columnist’s point of view, and i’m sure that writer was aiming to garner attention for his article. it’s just another controversial phase in angelina’s life. she seems to have far better things to do than subscribe to other people’s opinions about her. she’s living her life. she’s staying true to herself. it’s her own happiness that matters to her. if she’s self-fulfilled then, that’s all that matters, and not what the public thinks.

I would like to see them at the OSCAR as presenters as well. She was an Oscar winner, He is now an upcoming movie producer and a well known actor. However , If both want to skip it , for relevant reasons , I am sure the organizers wouldn’t mind. But off course the paps and the critics will find another star to pick on….

Am quite disappointed for Brad. But looking at some of the nominees, like O’Toole and A. Arkin, and the women, Dench, Streep and Mirren, age did’nt matter. There will be more chances for the Pitts to garner more Oscars or GG’s.

Well yeah, and that’s the unfortunate part. He knows how we’ll probably rail against it - but he does have bills to pay. Most of the bull that gets dumped here has no legs until someone right here attaches some and then its off and running and expanding and stretching until the next thing you know its become exactly what people wanted to shutdown.

i did wonder about that . . . well, i wondered why the blame always fell on angelina. in most instances, it seems that the knee-jerk reaction is to blame the so-called other woman. and had it been the woman cheating on her husband, that woman would’ve been called a *****. double-standards against women have never really died, and here in america, well, i hate to admit it, but puritanical thinking pervades. i have a thing or two to say about the current u.s. administration, but that’ll just open a slew of tense arguments. maybe angelina has been lambasted more than brad because people won’t forget and/or forgive her past, whereas brad has always been thought of by many as more of a leading man and a clean-cut, straight edge kind of guy. also, the spotlight is more on angelina now because many of her interviews came out/have been published at the same time just recently. so, people are dissecting her words . . . well, highlighting parts of her interview out of context. some are foolish enough to not read the whole interview (coz of short attention span perhaps??), and instead, blow the seemingly more controversial excerpts out of proportion and give it a negative color. if you were running an entertainment news show or a major publication trying to increase your circulation, you would want to create publicity of your own at the expense of some professional, ethical standards. with the media, it’s all about garnering attention, increasing the ratings/profits, and staying ahead of the competition.
even if there is a backlash on angelina now, i think it’s really temporary. as i said, her past behaviors raised more eyebrows than they do now. even if she is being given bad press now, it’s still a form of attention. it’s still publicity that she’s being given, whether she asked for it or not.
i’ve never really paid attention to that whole triangle between her, brad, and jennifer. besides, that whole incident is water under the bridge. it would seem that so much has been speculated from their personal lives. we should just commend them all now for moving on and doing things that they think would better their lives and bring them happiness.

I wish people will just let them be,enjoy life and love their children.they should lay low .

First, let me say, I am not anybody’s fan. I go to see a movie if the movie is good. Yes, I see BABEL. It’s excellent. It’s a thought-provoking film.

Since so many things were said about these people, Brad, Angie and Jen, I have to say I saw Jen’s movies. Unfortunately Jen CANT act. She seems somehow “constipated” when performing her comedic role. As to her dramatic movies, she just does NOT have the commanding presence. In silver screen, you need to have the commanding presence. The public saw that. May be that’s why all Jen’s movies have dismal gross sales.

Angie and Brad are very talented. They can have “range” in acting. I am impressed that Brad played “against type” in BABEL. He executed beautifully.

Many of my friends, personally and professionally have said they will see movies if either Brad or Angie are in it. As for Jen, the answer is lukewarm to the point of saying no. Well I am sorry to report. Dont get this idea that I hate Jen, cos I’m not.

Speaking of seeing so many different blogs about Jen’s not starting a family and her lying, I have to say this. If Jen made all those mistakes, and yes, she did lie to the public, all she has to do is take reposnsibility of all her mistakes. By doing so, she will improve. But by living in denial, she will go on making the same mistakes again. There is nothing wrong making mistakes, just dont repeat that again.

I would like to point out to JA’s fans that the only reasons the divorce etc was even talked about in the tabloids is because she and her management team decided to to use it to boost her career. If her talent wasn’t enough to get her publicity and an audience to her movies, the use the victim/pity card.

Look at the difference between Eddie Murphy’s wife and Jennifer. Eddie’s transgressions are far more painful than Brad’s, plus there are at least 5-6 kids involved. The other person was a man and not another woman…. etc. Reece Witherspoon … The difference? Class and or class and talent; something that only the feeble minded can deny that Jennifer does not have.

I would also like to remind those individuals, that until she hooked up with Brad; Angie had no publicist.

I do not particularly like Ryan Seacrest… He is often irritatingly trite and redundant. After all Angie is human. If he wanted a response to his questions, perhaps he should have taken the time to think of original questions and not the same questions every reporter has asked her/them for the past year or so. But I guess his ego is so big that he assumed that all the stars would be fawning at the mouth to talk with HIM!. Angie is a strong woman with little tolerance for little/weak men. Sometimes the best way to handle such a person/man is exactly how Angie responded. And physical size of any kind not in consideration her!)

(I am sure Angie must have been nervous.. after all it was the first major Hollywood event that she and Brad went as a couple. Running into those who who are known to be members of the Aniston camp and probably responsible for some of the nastiness about her on the web was uncomfortable… Knowing that everything she said or did would be reported on was probably nerve racking and uncomfortable at best.

It was not Angie who turned his head, it was Maddox. Men like women have biological clocks. Men get to a certain age and they want kids, home, dogs, ets. Brad was over 40. He had wanted kids at the start of his marriage to Jen and had put that need and want on hold for her to have her career. Wanting/not wanting kids is a non-negotiable and a deal breaker in any marriage/relationship. If you think it is not then either you are very young or have no romantic history in your past.

The total sales of these tabloid mag stays constant. It’s just how it is divided among the mag. Those who buy mag would have bought anyway. Those who are too cheap to buy wont buy regardless of the stories.

I agree with that. Wanting/not wanting kids is definitely a deal breaker and Aniston should have taken Brad’s desire for a family more seriously.
