How cute is Maddox with his puckered lips?
Angelina Jolie picked up 5-year-old son Maddox, from a French-English bilingual school in New Orleans yesterday afternoon. Maddox attends the “Ecole Bilingue Independent French Immersion School — Toddlers through Elementary.” Angie, Brad Pitt and the kids are staying in N.O. while Brad continues to film his new movie, The Case of Benjamin Button.

It is always heartwarming to see Angie and Maddox. Some people will say what they want to say, see what they what to see but they can’t deny the very fact that Angie is a wonderful mother to her children. Brad is one lucky man to have Angie in his life and the mother of his children. To those who think that they have to defend themselves to the press, think again, silence and a no comment is still a more powerful statement against unwarranted negative attacks.

Yes, I imagine there is going to be more and more French being spoken in the Jolie-Pitt house. I think Angie already spoke a little bit of it, but then had to learn some more for her role in AMH, I think. And in the outtakes from the Bogata dance scene, the one where they are sitting at the table sorta lost in each other and Angie is talking to Brad, it looks to me like she is speaking French….and Brad’s just sorta propped up on his elbow all gaga. It’s such a sexy language.

Yep, one of my nephews went from 1st grade through 8th to a French immersion and they jumped right in from day one. The teachers in the begining used both, but the students were expected to only speak French to respond (each level learned that is, as I’m sure “I gotta pee” coming from a 7yrld is gonna come out “I gotta pee”)

Maddox is so cute. I love that little guy. Angelina looks really good and refreshed. I like her hair long like this too. Notice how there are no photographers getting right in to their faces like they usually do and there are no bodygaurds. New Orleans is going to be really good for them since people don’t seem to bother them there and respect their privacy. They really deserve some peace and quiet.

OT Looks like Brad Grey really wants his credit for The Departed for the Oscars. This is from today’s L.A Times and I don’t know, yeah I get he was a part of the movie being made, but this whole campaing when he’s the boss at Paramount seem weird, especially because he’s focus should be Babel.

How avidly is Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey seeking his own Oscar for producing “The Departed” — a rival studio’s movie?
Neither Grey nor the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would say Tuesday after the film received an Academy Award nomination.
But the first tip-off that he has more than a passing interest in who takes home the statuette should the Warner Bros. picture win came shortly before dawn, when the academy referred to the producing nominees on Martin Scorsese’s gangster drama as “to be determined.”
Some Hollywood insiders have said it would be uncouth and distasteful for Grey to campaign aggressively for a credit on a film made by another studio, especially when he should be throwing his weight behind his studio’s own best-picture nominee, “Babel.”
Grey produced “The Departed” while still one of Hollywood’s top managers and producers, but he took the Paramount job just before Scorsese started shooting. “Babel,” which received seven nominations, was the first project Grey set up at Paramount.
It was thought that producer Graham King would be listed as sole nominee for “The Departed” because the Producers Guild of America, which determines the credits, had already made that decision. The academy has an agreement with the guild to follow its recommendations, unless a credit is challenged.
On Tuesday, academy spokesman John Pavlik confirmed that an executive committee of the organization’s producers branch would meet this week to decide which producers would be given credit on two films, “The Departed” and “Little Miss Sunshine.” That will determine who gets to leap to the stage to accept the Oscar on Feb. 25 should either film win.
According to one person close to the matter, the decision to review’s Grey’s credit was prompted by letters to the academy from prominent Hollywood figures lobbying on Grey’s behalf.
Academy President Sid Ganis said the academy viewed the guild’s decisions as recommendations but that it would make the final call on “The Departed” and “Little Miss Sunshine.”
Asked whether Grey or his associates had made an appeal, Ganis said, “We keep that aspect of the information confidential. It’s private between the academy and the production.”
If Grey loses an appeal to the academy for producer credit on “The Departed,” as he did when he lobbied the producers guild last month, he could be open to criticism that he should instead be basking in Paramount’s own Oscar glory.
Paramount received 19 nominations, including the seven for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Babel,” two for Al Gore’s global-warming documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” and eight for “Dreamgirls,” which was shut out of the best picture and best directing categories.
Immediately after the guild’s decision to credit King as producer of “The Departed,” Grey’s camp inquired about the academy’s appeal process.
Grey recently acknowledged to confidants that making an appeal could be tricky especially if “The Departed” ended up competing with a Paramount film, as turned out to be the case. But he also believed he deserved credit for launching “The Departed,” a view shared by Scorsese and King.
The proliferation of producer credits on movies has caused the academy to tighten its rules in recent years. An especially bitter credit war raged last year when producer Bob Yari contended that he was unfairly denied credit for the Oscar-winning “Crash.”
When there is a controversy, or when it is unclear to whom the coveted producing credits should go, the academy uses the phrase “to be determined” until a decision is reached. No one was more surprised to hear the news on “The Departed” than King.
“I was totally shocked about the ‘to be determined’ credit,” he said in an interview. “No one gave me the heads up.”
Nonetheless, King said he’d be glad to share the credit.
“I’d be very happy if the academy decides that Brad Grey is a producer on it,” King said. “It would be nice to have company if we’re lucky enough to go up on that stage. But really it’s the academy’s decision.”
Along with King, Grey and his former producing partner, actor Brad Pitt, were given screen credit on the movie by Warner.
Grey’s involvement with “The Departed” started in 2003 when he acquired the remake rights to the Hong Kong hit drama “Infernal Affairs.” He helped hire screenwriter and nominee William Monahan to adapt the film and sent the script to Scorsese, who received a best directing nomination. He helped negotiate deals for such talent as Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and nominee Mark Wahlberg.

I think they will. People down here or either too busy trying to repair their homes, get money from FEMA, find a way to secure their trailers, get heat for their trailer b/c it’s freaking cold right now or just plain don’t like the couple and are JA fans and can’t understand why he left her for her.
Then there’s people like me who stalk to find where they are but don’t have enough nerve to say anything. I think they will be fine here….hell they should stay but then again BP/AJ may gain like 30-40lbs due to the good or shall I say fattening food…we use a lot of butter and creams ya know .

Good things are happening to these kids. First, it is Maddox adding French to English and Khmer(Cambodian language). Next will be Zahara learning English, French and the language from her people in Ethiopia. Lastly, we get Shiloh learning French and perhaps the American Native Indian language.
They both look so cute. You can just look at Maddox, and be able to tell he is growing up in a loving environment (that includes Shiloh too, for the haters).
She’s so fake. You cannot “act” like you have class when you don’t and she doesn’t.

Is it close to their home? From something I read before it said that the area they moved to is also the area his (your) school is located.
I know I read Nick Cage lives a few blocks away, and Cafe du Monde was down the street from them.
I think they’re gonna end up making NOLA a reg homestead “by their standards since they travel so much.” The people have welcomed with open arms, and the business community feels they’ve going to be an asset.

From the very beginning of the Katrina catastrophe, Brad Pitt has shown — through his time, money and effort — how sincere he is in helping rebuild this great city.
Time and again, both he and Angelina Jolie have shown the nation and the world their humanitarian natures, and we have seen first-hand what extraordinary people they truly are.
They get down into the trenches with and for their fellow man to do whatever needs to be done to make things right.
Evidently, they also have seen what so many have before them — how unique and special are New Orleans and its citizens.
We are blessed to have them here, and I hope that we can welcome them and treat them as our own. I also hope we can give them the privacy and respect they deserve — and not use the ridiculous media moniker “Brangelina.”

I’m so glad that Angelina has shown the world that love comes in many colors. I am soooo empressed that she has little “magnificent” Zahara as a daughter. It’s not an easy task to raise children of color, and especially of a different color than your own. But this African-American “sistah” says Angie ROCKS in this area……I would have killed to be in cute Maddox, magnificent Zahara or beautiful Shiloh’s shoes calling her MOMMY. Can you just imagine how she’d look if she’d been as shopping mad as Kate Holmes and Posh Beckham? I know Angie will think it such a waste to plunk down thousands of bucks in an effort to be the ultimate fashionista but I can’t help wondering how she’d be giving those ladies in the dust if she was also wearing all those Parisian duds.

If I were you all, I wouldn’t worry that much about Rachel Ray.
There is already a very popular website devoted to blasting her on a daily basis. It’s very popular amongst people who don’t like her for lowering the standards for cooks on T.V and being a cranky, backstabbing beetch in general.
Her lies get exposed daily and Rachel Ray even acknoweledged that she knows the website exist. She’s very insecure about herself. It’s a laugh riot. Between the website which has a 1,000 member blasting away at her and the leaked stories about her husband paying a hooker to spit on him because he has a wierd fettish, I wouldn’t worry too much about Ray.
She’s getting hers. And those people on the website have also started to dislike Oprah for giving Ray a show. It’s doesn’t get more delicious than that. bwahahahaha.
I know we go a little far with this couple but…for me it’s like a Cinderella story. Here’s a man who has wanted kids since he was a kid, wanted the family life, successful demonstrated he was capable of providing for his family by starting with nothing ($300.00 in pocket) and now has millions, is aware of himself, the roles he plays and stepping up as a man…you gotta love it!
Then you have this woman who initially demonstrates everything you wouldn’t want you daughters to be or your sons marry…but with all of her childhood angst she the women I would want my daughter to learn from. That everything, with or without money, won’t be peaches and cream, life not a cake walk, appreciate the things you have, love others no matter their differences, have an open mind, don’t judge at the first glance, know who you are, be proud of who you are no matter what your faults, you maybe privileged but don’t expect to be accepted…I could go on and on…
Then these two meet and find a commonality amongst them. With all his faults, and believe me he has faults not matter if he is “Brad Pitt” and with all her dysfunctions they love each other the way they are. I’m remembering the Vogue article when she’s a little tormented about speaking for two people and Brad tells her to do it the way she’s always done interviews…he knows her and accepts her…the way she is…and she appreciates it.
Love it when she said they challenge each other…even though in one of his interviews he down plays the challenge…he knows it’s a challenge. Remember the interview about the 15 things you should know…and she tease him about not having the European license for flying planes…cuz it’s a little harder…
I just love this couple…not b/c who they are…but because What they represent…what we all want in our lives…someone who’s on the same page with you, understands you, is focused on the same goal, same outcome, the same lifestyle…

But I doubt that there will be a press conference with Rachael Ray, appropriately sober and apologetic about these remarks. Why? Because although younger, Oprah is very Barbara Walters-like, meaning that she is unwilling to admit she was wrong publically, unless she is compelled to do so. Look at the James Frey thing… when it became increasingly obvious that Oprah’s seal of approval on Larry King wouldn’t wash, she marched Frey onto her show for a very public dressing down. After that, then she apologized to her audience.
She’s got money invested in Rachael; these remarks were allegedly made 2 years ago; Oprah will shrug it off, unless Rachael makes a even bigger donkey out of herself.
As for Rachael’s alleged rant, who cares? If Hollywood was high school, she would be that strange, no-neck girl working the serving line with the rest of the cafeteria ladies, whom no one talks to, unless they wanted to know is if lasagne’s on next week’s menu.
I don’t see why discussion of other people or subjects (relating to BAMZS as a matter of fact) should be banned from BAMZS thread. Diverse topics make it more interesting reading and doesn’t make us all look like fanatic idol worshippers. There are a lot of lurkers (fans and nonfans) who come to JJ’s which makes for good business. What’s good for business is good for us because JJ will always try to find pics and more articles. Plus, we get surprising information about a lot of things. Who wouldn’t like that?
As for RR, she should have stayed at the Food Network and nixed the Oprah connection. She’d probably still have her sanity and her husband by then. The Awful Truth had a blind item on her when she first started and it was all about her using coke. He said she’s had to because she had to be up by 4 a.m. while going to bed past midnight besides taking care of her husband, her dog and her backbreaking schedule. I am against Angelina being sucked in. She has never been before and she won’t now. Next thing you know she’s in a feud. You see what the tabs tried to do with Madonna and she barely knew Madonna. Almaz helped deliver the baby. “I was there helping when Mentewabe was giving birth. Tena Adam was born screaming with her eyes already open. She was a beautiful girl with a small patch of dark hair,” she added.
When Mentewabe started bleeding afterwards, the family had to borrow 30 cents to hire a horse and cart to take her to the hospital; she died along the way. “I was so happy to have her back but now I have lost both of them,” Almaz said as tears trickled down her wrinkled face.
Almaz slept in a grubby bed with her infant granddaughter for four months, before finally deciding she was too poor to raise the child. The baby’s father is unknown. The baby was 4 months old, and weighed a meager 11 pounds, when she was put up for adoption.
Giving her away “broke my heart,” says Almaz, a softly spoken and frail woman, whose gnarled hands and bent back make her appear far older than her 45 years. “No woman wants to give away her own flesh and blood. Each day I would be in tears as I took her to the adoption office. They would send me away. But they eventually realized I did not have the money, and they took her from me and said they could give her a better life.” Almaz, who is unable to read or write, says she has never heard of the Mr. & Mrs. Smith star — but adds that her greatest hope is that one day Jolie will send her a photograph of her thriving granddaughter, who she says closely resembles her deceased mother. “All I ask is that one day Ms. Angelina could send me a picture of my granddaughter so I can remember her and those beautiful big brown eyes, they are just like my daughter’s eyes.”
Jolie officially adopted Zahara on Wednesday, July 6, with officials rubberstamping the adoption at a 20-minute hearing at Ethiopia’s federal high court. “Normally we like prospective parents to stay in the country for a couple of weeks so they can understand the culture but Zahara is very young so it doesn’t matter that she left only a few days after meeting Ms. Angelina,” said adoption head Hadish Holefom, from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
The adoption, and the subsequent renaming of the child, ended a month-long process during which Angelina reportedly paid out a standard adoption fee of about $10,000 and quietly maneuvered through red tape. Over the last two weeks, Jolie, Pitt and Maddox — whom Jolie adopted in 2002 — secretly flew into the impoverished African nation twice, staying in a $3,814-a-night four-bedroom suite at the five-star Sheraton hotel, just outside Addis Ababa. Brad accompanied her on the second trip, where they picked up the baby, according to eyewitnesses.
In truth, Angelina was lucky to get the child. The day before Zahara — then Tena Adam — was taken to Addis Ababa, an adoption official in her hometown was going to take her. Says Sosina Yeman, 33, who works at the social affairs office in Awassa: “She was such a beautiful thing. As soon as I saw her I thought about adopting her. When I came back to the office the next day, she had already been taken. I have been thinking about her ever since, but I suppose I could have never offered her the life she will have now.”

I chewed/chopped that one up! That name is so familier to me for some reason. I think I heard it/saw it while watchng a special about post Katrina “Krewes/ and the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club (had to look that one up again, Knew Zulu was in the title). Anyway, I think it was a “Krewe” name as a lot of them had Indian ones. Very interesting show. Also had the street built specifically for the musicians. Reminds me of the islands because of all the colors.

Maddox has become a little man now. He is going to be a very beautiful boy when he grows up. He seems so happy and well behaved. All of the Jolie-Pitt kids are going to be very well educated. Maddox already knows how to read and write by having a tutor. And now he will learn a foreign language at such a young age. He and his siblings are blessed.
Angie looks stunning, well rested and very content. I love her sweater and her boots. I admire them for being focused on what is really important for them as is their family. They are doing every-day activities just like any of us. They are not worrying them selves with worthless people. And as Angie have said “We don’t let it affect our life”.
I’m happy to see that the pictures are taken by distance. So far New Orleans seems like a very warm and pleasant place to live. I think the family will be well treated and respected there. More power to them.

That will happen when you are doing are abusing the white powder. Why do you think Maniston gained weight. Coke makes you thin. Don’t worry though. In a few days, Maniston will be back to her old ways and she’ll be thin again. Of course, her plastic boobs will stay the same size.

I know we go a little far with this couple but…for me it’s like a Cinderella story. Here’s a man who has wanted kids since he was a kid, wanted the family life, successful demonstrated he was capable of providing for his family by starting with nothing ($300.00 in pocket) and now has millions, is aware of himself, the roles he plays and stepping up as a man…you gotta love it!
Then you have this woman who initially demonstrates everything you wouldn’t want you daughters to be or your sons marry…but with all of her childhood angst she the women I would want my daughter to learn from. That everything, with or without money, won’t be peaches and cream, life not a cake walk, appreciate the things you have, love others no matter their differences, have an open mind, don’t judge at the first glance, know who you are, be proud of who you are no matter what your faults, you maybe privileged but don’t expect to be accepted…I could go on and on…
Then these two meet and find a commonality amongst them. With all his faults, and believe me he has faults not matter if he is “Brad Pitt” and with all her dysfunctions they love each other the way they are. I’m remembering the Vogue article when she’s a little tormented about speaking for two people and Brad tells her to do it the way she’s always done interviews…he knows her and accepts her…the way she is…and she appreciates it.
Love it when she said they challenge each other…even though in one of his interviews he down plays the challenge…he knows it’s a challenge. Remember the interview about the 15 things you should know…and she tease him about not having the European license for flying planes…cuz it’s a little harder…
I just love this couple…not b/c who they are…but because What they represent…what we all want in our lives…someone who’s on the same page with you, understands you, is focused on the same goal, same outcome, the same lifestyle…

I’ve gotten multiple mouthings from my southern-fried sources about Brad and Angie’s recently purchased New Orleans pad. N’Awlins know-it-alls claim this megamansion is what the Jolie-Pitts are callin’ home sweet home, as of late.
