You’re Gonna Love Jennifer Hudson

Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson is featured in the February/March 2007 issue of Giant Magazine shot by photographer Mark Alesky. It’s Jennifer’s first major entertainment magazine cover and she looks like a star! The Golden Globe winner speaks out on her weight and her “fight” with Beyonce. Check out some choice excerpts below:

  • On the rumored fued with Beyonce: “I’m too busy trying to enjoy my blessings to be dwelling in mess. It’s not about that. It’s supposed to be about enjoying it. But then again, when something is good, people are always gonna try to find something wrong with it and try to throw a monkey wrench in there somewhere. We support each other as much as we did on day one. I mean, come on! That’s Beyonce! We’d rather see people focus their attention on our work.”
  • On her size: “Look, I used to be a size 22. Now, I’m a size 12. When I go to Hollywood stuff, I’m the biggest girl there. And I could care less. I still feel sexy and pretty whoever I’m standing next to because when I’m out in the real world, I’m the size of the average woman. And there is nothing wrong with us. There’s something wrong when you’re just skin and bones. It’s not cute. I love my size, period…. You gotta be comfortable in your own skin! I’m comfortable in mine. I don’t have a problem with it at all. I work with a trainer these days—to tone, not to lose. This jelly ain’t going nowhere.”
  • On her love life: “My boyfriend is my childhood sweetheart. We’ve been together since 1999! It’s crazy. I’m the dreamer and he supports my dreams – always has. He’s happy to be my rock and let me fly. I think it makes more sense to date someone outside of showbiz. He is stationary, stable, a home base. I’m on planes, here and there and always on the go. It’d be a whole different story if he was moving around, too. Instead I have a patient, understanding man who’s there for me when I get home. He’s home to me.”

In the latest issue of Essence magazine, Jennifer Hudson shares about her Idol abuse she experienced: “On American Idol, you go through this mental thing; you’ve got to get yourself back together. You’ve been abused, misled and brainwashed to believe whatever they want you to think.”

You can download Jennifer Hudson’s single “Over It” here (mp3). It sounds unfinished to me — hopefully it’s being reworked in the studio before it hits mainstream radio…

I love this girl. She can sing her damn ass off, and seems to have a great personality to boot.
You’re right, she’s a bit on the heavy side, but that’s why she’s a singer, not a model. Some of the greats of the past weren’t exactly the skinniest people (Jennifer Holliday, Aretha Franklin, etc.), but they excel at their profession, and that’s what matters.

She is gorgeous and soo talented! I have linked to your story here–I hope that is okay… :-)

Jennifer is beautiful and extremely talented. I saw Dreamgirls and she was Awesome! I hope she wins the Oscar! She deserves it!

I wish that I could have sex with a white man. They look so docile and unassuming. I could get with that.

I liked the movie, “Dream Girls,” but I was so annoyed at the character that Jennifer portrayed, Effie, that I certainly see why they wanted her out of the
group. The audience is led to think that Effie was acting like a “*****” was
because she was pregnant, but to me she had acted like one all through the
movie. I just disliked her all through the movie, and even until the end of the
movie. And I am asking you: Was the ending meant to be a happy one?

What was Jamie Foxx’s charactere meant to do? Act like a real father?
Was he going to try to make ammends with that CRAZY Effie nut-brain?

I just started to think of Dianna Ross and her “secret” child by Barry Gordy,
that everyone knew about forever….since day one. I just always wanted to
know if Barry kicked her to the curb, or if Diana kicked Barry to the curb.

I always heard that Barry’s wife was the one that sang: And I am telling you….
I AIN”T going no where!!!!

Beeootiiiiful!

I agree with you. Effie had a huge ego problem and demons of her own to fight. And she did so by the end of the movie!

Just because you are a size 2 doesn’t necessarily mean you are healthy! I’m a size 12 and I can run the pants off most 6s and below. I have no health problems associated with my weight and only take a multi-vitamin because it’s my choice. So size doesn’t matter.
We should celebrate all sizes

It still surprises me how racist people are in this world.

Jennifer Hudson you inspire me alot! I can also sing your gonna love me. I practice alot at home and my friends and family say i am wonderful. Thanks for inspiring me!
