Gong and Gaspard Raise NYC

Co-stars Gong Li and Gaspard Ulliel premiered their new film Hannibal Rising last night at NYC’s AMC Loews Lincoln Center Theater. Hannibal Rising opens next Friday, Feb. 9 and is directed by Peter Webber (Girl with a Pearl Earring, pictured below).

Said Peter at the premiere: “I was lucky to work with a producer who wasn’t forcing me to work with big Hollywood names. It’s a movie that’s set in Europe. It’s very much the European instalment of the Lecter myth. We start in Lithuania, we go to Paris and it just seemed to make sense to do it with European actors to give it that breath of reality. I saw an awful lot of people, you know, I saw some well-known actors in America, some lesser-known actors in Britain, but in the end, there was something very singular about Gaspard. He looks amazing, he’s got a fantastic acting ability - and just a touch of darkness about him.” (Images via Getty)

I love seeing these two around. Gong Li is absolutely stunning, and Gaspard is a handsome young man, despite playing Hannibal in the movie. Unfortunately, the book’s getting a lot of negative reviews, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the press spun this film in a negative way. I say best of luck to them.

Gong Li is one of the most beautiful women in the world! I can’t believe she’s in her 40s. Now that’s aging gracefully. She’s also a very talented actress. I love all her Chinese films and even films she made in Hollywood like Memoirs of a Geisha and Miami Vice. Can’t wait to see this movie!

Gaspard is handsome, but he’s got a devilish spark to him, and I guess that makes him a great young Hannibal. I can’t wait to see the movie, and I just got finished reading the book. Very good, but short!
