My best sources for this daily column aren’t wire service reports or magazines or publicists, they’re the readers who regularly follow what appears in this space every day and pass along so many tips and scoops.

For example, if it weren’t for Ken and Mary Cahill of Griffith, I wouldn’t be writing today’s tribute to Angelina Jolie’s actress mother Marcheline Bertrand, who died in Los Angeles over the weekend after battling cancer.

As it turns out Bertrand, who was 56, has local roots, including a childhood and faith-based education shared with the Cahills and so many others (including one of my editors Bill Bero) in the old neighborhoods around Riverdale and Dolton, Ill., and the border of Chicago, where she graduated from St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School in 1964. Her sister Debbie graduated in 1966.

After graduation, Bertrand left the region to live in Los Angeles to pursue her acting dream studying under the famed Lee Strasberg and playing minor television roles, like working with Raymond Burr in a 1971 episode of “Ironside” before starring in a few feature films in the 1980s. It was also in 1971 that she met and married actor Jon Voight and had her two children, actor James Haven in 1973 and Angelina in 1975. Her actress daughter decided to use her middle name “Jolie,” for her professional last name, which means “pretty” in French and was chosen by her mother, who was of both French-Canadian and Iroquois descent. Bertrand and Voight divorced in 1978.

It was Sunday, when Jolie announced her mother’s passing at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. in a news release, which also said the funeral service this week would be private and the family asked that donations be made to the Women’s Cancer Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai. The release said both Jolie and Haven were at their mother’s bedside at the time of her death, as was Jolie’s boyfriend Brad Pitt.

Bertrand’s name was remembered this week at St. Mary’s Church. Even though the school she attended no longer is open, Bertrand was always generous and valued her region roots and memories. In fact, one of the crosses displayed inside the church was donated by Bertrand and then-husband Voight.

And when the church published a commemorative book in 1986 to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the parish’s founding, Bertrand bought five full pages (special gold foil pages) to help finance the publishing of the book. The pages were dedications to her parents, grandparents and her cousin, and included personal messages like: “The most wonderful gift my parents ever gave me was my Catholic education. Attending St. Mary’s School was a truly invaluable experience for me. Learning how to apply the teachings of Jesus Christ into my daily life is what has helped me most to survive many difficult challenges. I love you St. Mary’s Church. Chicago will always be home for me.”

One of the pages Bertrand bought also features a message from a young 10-year-old Angelina and 12-year-old James, which reads: “Thank you St. Mary’s Church and School for teaching our mom about Jesus and his mother. She still reads us stories from all her old catechism books. Because of you, our mom is very close to Mary. Maybe that is why she is such a good Mom.”

It was reported that last June, Jolie was in California with her mother when she knew she was dying, so Bertrand could meet her new granddaughter Shiloh Nouvel, whose father is Pitt.

The baby had been born the month before in Namibia, Africa.

Brad, way to divert attention away from the grieving Angelina…the paparazzi needs to just back the hell off.

They’ll keep taking them until their value is no more, which Brad is very shrewdly working on. Let’s see, they only get him at night, in the same clothes, riding the same bike.

See, it’s hard for the paps to sell them as new when there is nothing new to the pics.

I get the distinct feeling that these are old pics (from two days ago), and were not taken today. They look like the Splash pictures, and those are post dated for Wednesday.

As many as it takes until they get a money shot and I honestly think the razzi know they are getting under BP’s skin and hope they can catch him snapping at them or something like that. I hope it doesn’t happen but it seems like they are pushing the man to his breaking point. I don’t care what some haters say…I love how BP is the decoy on this for I haven’t seen more than six pics of AJ during this ordeal yet I have seen tons of pics of BP coming down the stairs at Plan B…his bodyguards pushing razzi out the way…BP getting on his bike and leaving. I just hope the razzi will move on to another story soon.

I just popped in for a quick peek at what’s going on. I bowed out earlier today when the previous thread turned so ugly, and I won’t be around again until Sunday evening, but I just wanted to say that these repeated images of Brad are disturbing and I really hate them. I am worried somebody is going to get hurt. They are crowding him and he can’t see. It’s awful. I wouldn’t want anyone to have to go through this.

I realize Brad knows what he is doing and he likely has a method to the madness, but even still I am going to hope and pray everyone stays safe.

IDEA: FOR A SHOW OF SUPPORT …

Imagine how nice it would be if “everyone” postd ONE MESSAGE OF SUPPORT to the Ms. Jolie, during this difficult time in her life. It could say some thing like …

“Dear Angie, please accept our sincere condolences in the passing of your mother. Sorry for your loss’”

The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Long time reader of Aint It Cool this is the first time I have felt compelled to turn in a review of a sneak preview. I am going to keep this review as spoiler free as possible.

So last night I got to catch a special sneak preview of, “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” This is a new western starring Brad Pitt and is directed by Andrew Dominik who also directed the wonderful, “Chopper.”

I went into this film with almost no knowledge of the Jesse James gang or the assassination of the legend. This film surprised me. The opening alone will grab you, with Roger Deakins amazing cinematography, Nick Caves entrancing score and a narration that is strongly reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick’s “Barry Lyndon.”

This is not your average western. This film is very dark, with Brad Pitt playing his darkest character since, “Kalifornia.” Brad Pitt doesn’t use a lot of words in his performance, it’s all looks and internal turmoil, he is truly mesmerizing in this performance, showing a more mature actor then we have seen before.

He is matched perfectly by Casey Affleck who is finally used to his full potential as Robert Ford. Casey Affleck plays Ford as a very vulnerable, fragile young man with a thirst for recognition. Hopefully this performance might break Casey out of his brother’s shadow. The rest of the cast is superb with a funny and odd performance by Sam Rockwell.

The cinematography is excellent. Roger Deakins turns in some of the best work of his career. He brings a dream like quality to the images that gives the film a fable like quality. It’s this quality that separates this film from other westerns. It has more in common with Sam Peckinpah’s underrated, “Pat Garret and Billy the Kid.” It has to do with living up to ones own myth and also how far a person will go to be famous.

But I see one serious problem with this film. A major studio made it. This isn’t a film for everyone. This isn’t, “Tombstone,” it’s not an action packed western. It’s a very emotional film. The action that does happen is quick and realistic much like a Sergio Leone film. This is a film for my father, a person who grew up on westerns and loves them. It has more in common with art house films and this might make it a tough sale for the studio, which will probably try to sell it as another, “Legends of the Fall.” I’m not saying that,“Legends,” is a bad film; it’s just that this is a much darker film.

Another problem is that the version I saw the other night was easily three hours in length. That can make any studio nervous and I’m afraid the studio will start cutting the film up in hopes of getting a bigger audience.

This film needs the three hours, much like Sergio Leone’s westerns (which were notoriously edited by the studios) this film is about anticipation and scope. I wouldn’t be surprised if they cut this film up but I beg the studio not to.

Basically I hope everyone gets to see this film in its current cut. This is the kind of film that will probably be passed over in theatres but will get a lot of recondition over time and will be seen as the truly great film it is.

I’m so excited about Pitt’s JJ movie coming out. I love western and I hope the studio won’t butcher up the film but if it is three hours long …they will but this movie sounds so good.

I support this family .. totally!!! Let us raise our voices against the PAPARAZZI ABUSE they are getting! It is not enough to talk about it! Let us have THEM concerned that it is not alright to stalk this framily and harassed them to no end!

Do you all not see the similarities in the sequence of these pictures - over the last couple of days all we have seen is Brad leaving his office, with his dark glasses and helmet - never has it removed - always invisible? I have to wonder if the Jolie-Pitts are not taking the razzis for a ride?! i.e perhaps this is actually a look-alike who is pretending to be Brad - to divert attention from where the JP’s really are?? There is no logic in him going into his office evry day and night - if he has nothing to do - dont you think they would be back in NO - resuming filming on BB. Somehting does not add up - but if my assertions above are correct - I am happy that they have the razzi;s a dose of their own medicene!

As a longtime Reeves fan, I can tell you the chances of this happening are about as likely as Keanu is to marry Diane Keaton…no, I take that back - Keanu would marry Diane Keaton BEFORE he even THOUGHT about dating Maniston. Angelina Jolie a Beautiful Woman Persecuted

Angelina Jolie is a decent human being. She donates one third of her enormous salary to her causes, and truly cares about humanity. So why is she being persecuted negatively by various media types, and other so-called celebrities? Because she is drop dead gorgeous. It doesn’t matter that she is with Brad Pitt. Those two were meant to be together, because they respect each other. People are jealous of their relationship, and the media has tried to make their love a circus. If she weren’t such a rare beauty, the cattiness wouldn’t be so severe, but women and even some men, are green with envy. The claws come out because of this.

Brad Pitt was more than ready to go his own way before they met, and when he met Angelina, he met a woman with a heart and someone with a sense of pride in his endeavors and other interests aside from acting, like architecture and charity work. Now why would people even attempt to make negative comments about them, aside from the fact that they make a pathetic living doing so? Because they will never have a relationship with Brad Pitt, who is one of a kind as well, and they will never be as beautiful as Angelina.

Some well-known talk show hosts and reporters have said some very catty things about her, and it makes one wonder just when respectable journalism went out the window and shoddy reporting became the norm. If anything, these vultures should be criticized for their megalomaniac persona’s that go against the code of ethics journalists are suppose to adhere to. They can’t attack Angelina’s true character, because she is decent. Who knows what skeletons are in their closets? They can’t attack her talent, because she has plenty of that, an Oscar to prove it. But they can go after the woman, and it is so pathetic to hear about her eyeliner, her being “too sexy” (as if there is such a thing) or how she poses on the red carpet, some calling it pompous. Of course she holds her head up high, she has a lot to b e proud of, and isn’t about to hide in the house away from media twits. For the lay people out there that don’t make their living following the graceful and poised Angelina and Brad like little lap dogs, don’t be jealous of what they have. Try to emulate what they do. It is great to see celebrities doing so much more with their money than buying Rolexes, cars and mansions. If anything these two people should be praised, not persecuted, period.

(b) Reese Witherspoon and George Clooney having an affair to remember?? (sorry AG and hot mess).

(c) Nicole Kidman dumping Keith Urban and having it off with Mathew Mconnaghy (BTW, Reese and nicole are interchangeable with George and Matt M).

(d) Courtney Cox and David Arq. splitting up and Courtney hooking up with Jennifer?? (lol)

(e) Kirstie Alley hooking up with Vince Vaughn??

Can anyone come up with other suggestions??

I would think the sheriffs who were there (seen from a vadeo) would do something to prevent these people from getting so close to the private property of Plan B and disturbing another citizen’s peaceful enjoyment of life they way they did. I wondered what they were there for otherwise. Maybe to prevent a physical confrontation and nothing else?

Maybe because he’s a celebrity, he isn’t entitled the same protection a normal citizen is entitled? I don’t even think this is flattering for him, or maybe some people still consider it that way. I think it’s just money and nothing else for the paps. No respect for him. And I don’t think these people truely “love” him that much to think they should rightfully interefere with his life that way.

Maybe I’m just naive. But can’t help wondering where JJ gets his pictures from.

If I were in Pitt’s position, though, I’d simply dress myself to be like a totally different person so that nobody could recognize me unless I wanted them to. I’d think that’d be pretty easy to do. Maybe he likes all these after all.

Another thought: seems to me it must be pretty clear that Pitt is a pretty patient and internally extremely non-violent person.

This is nothing. Brad’s been living this for close to 16 yrs. This is nothing compared to India. What these paps want is for Brad to go crazy on him so they can photograph him and sue him if he ever attacked one of them.

She’s probably going to be buried in Chicago with her parents.

I remember the guy who trained Brad for Fight Club said that they ran out of sparring partners for him because guys no longer wanted to spar with him because he was that good. I also remember the guy said Brad’s a pretty peaceful guy but he would not want to meet him in a back alley or take him on in a street fight.

I remember some show on Paparazzi and they asked them which celebrites they actually respected and they all said Brad Pitt. Why? Because they said he’s always two steps ahead of them. He frustrates them to no end but they have to respect him at the same time.

Adding…I also think if Marcheline was not cremated she will be buried in Chicago with her parents.

A few years back, I thought I read somewhere that there is an actor in LA who works as Brad’s double. The guy is not obviously as hot as BP, but his body type is similar.

This seems to be a very good tactic to employ when you are being hounded 24/7. Use your double, while you get out of dodge. That would be pure justice for the paps.

Brad have been chased these past few days because all the paparazzi hope is to get an emotional reaction off of him. While they know that there is an opportunity to get it because Angie’s mom passed a week ago they are hoping that by stalking him that way and be aggressive and ask irritating, rude and too personal questions they will finaly get the money shot they are so eager for. Brad losing his temper and start acting aggressively against them.

They can’t go after Angie so much because they know that if they cross the line they will get sued big time.

Brad is playing them like the little rats they are. He is not responding. He wears the same clothes every day. He doesn’t have any specific facial expression on his face. He goes straight forward to his bike and leaves the place.

All the paparazzi getting is the same pictures every day of him. Nothing new. Nothing shocking or provoking. Nothing to gossip or write about.

Brad knows very well how to play the game. He will not give them what they want.

And as it is already said Brad has four films in pre-production he has to take care off right now. He HAS to do it so he can have some free time later to be with his family. And I think that is the best time for that. Plus most of the time he goes in the office at late evening and leaves at night.

I don’t think we can judge where Angie is right now just because she hasn’t been photographed only for tow days. In the past we hadn’t seen pics of her for weeks or so but she was still where she was at first. We have to wait and see.

I hope they will leave L.A as soon as possible.

Brad and Angelina is my fave couple, and I am saddened by the news of her beautiful mother’s passing, the paparazzi are some damn “terrorist” mofos, man they better be glad that wasn’t me and my crew..they would have gotten a “serious ghetto beat down” disrespectful damn ********! She’s probably going to be buried in Chicago at **. Mary’s Church today. Pitt probably left last night from LA and joined her in Chicago for the funeral. Then back to NOLA.

Wherever Angelina Jolie went while making The Good Shepherd , the flock of papparazzi just followed like sheep, says LAWRIE MASTERS ON THE stages for some scenes in Robert DeNiro-directed drama The Good Shepherd were constructed inside a cavernous building in New York.

A US National Guard armoury, the complex is, as you might imagine, obviously off-limits to the casual passer-by and not that welcoming even to the most curious.

But none of that mattered when Angelina Jolie arrived. Suddenly the place was swamped with strangers, many of whom seemed to have cameras working overtime. “There was just that whole thing that would occur when she would come to work, which was, you know, suddenly 50 photographers would be standing where we were shooting and there were swarms of people around and all this interest,” co-star Matt Damon said.

“But as much craziness as surrounds her and surrounds Brad (Pitt) and their life, she was there to absolutely focus on work.
“If you’d walked in and asked: ‘Which one of these people is surrounded by photographers everywhere they go?’ you would never point to her - except for the fact she’s so beautiful.”

Damon, the star of the movie franchise spun off from Robert Ludlum’s Bourne series of novels, and an Academy Award-winning writer for Good Will Hunting is obviously in awe of Jolie’s ability to shake off the constant attention directed at her and concentrate on her day job - acting.
“Once we’d get inside the armoury and it was quiet and we were just doing our work, I realised why she’s Angelina Jolie,” Damon said. “It’s like there’s this whole celebrity side of her, this whole kind of image that other people have created, and then there’s who she really is. And first and foremost she’s an incredible actor.

“After the first scene, where she and I really get into an argument, I think we broke for lunch and (veteran cinematographer) Bob Richardson came up to me and said: ‘I can’t believe how powerful she is.’ “And when you’re in a room with an actor who’s really got an incredible presence like that, everybody feels it and you have a kind of deference.”

Damon and Jolie play husband and wife in the fictionalised account of the birth of America’s Central Intelligence Agency.

The story spans the years 1925-1961 and crosses three continents. Pre-World War 2, idealistic Yale student Edward Wilson (Damon) is recruited to join the university’s secret Skull and Bones society, a tightly knit brotherhood that, despite some cultish trappings, hopes to develop future world leaders.

During the war, Wilson moves into the Office of Strategic Services, the precursor to the CIA. As he becomes involved in developing the world’s most powerful covert agency, Wilson also marries Margaret “Clover” Russell (Jolie) when she gets pregnant with their son, Edward Jr. (Eddie Redmayne).

Later, his ideals and dedication to his country force him to a point where he must sacrifice everything for his job. “He’s between this rock and this hard place,” Damon said. “He’s got an incredible amount of pressure on him. The stakes are incredibly high in his work life and, at the same time, he’s got this family that kind of crumbles around him over the years. “I wouldn’t say he has some kind of clinical depression, but clearly he is somebody who is naturally secretive, has a natural distrust and sees conspiracies everywhere.”

Damon believes, while the film is set in another era, it still “speaks to today”. He adds: “The big question today is: ‘What are we willing to sacrifice of our own liberties in order to secure ourselves?’ It’s a personal question and it needs to be asked and engaged.”
The film’s all-star cast also includes Alec Baldwin, Billy Crudup, Keir Dullea, Sir Michael Gambon, William Hurt and John Turturro, with DeNiro making a cameo. “Every script you get has somebody else’s fingerprints on it,” he said. “I’m just lucky now that when I get scripts they have fewer fingerprints. We used to joke, back five years ago, that every script had Tom Cruise’s fingerprints on it, even if it was a role for Morgan Freeman. “Sometimes your tastes overlap, like with The Departed - Leo and I both loved it and we both wanted to play either (lead) role.
“We just let Marty choose and, you know, things worked out really well with that movie.”

Now working on his third Jason Bourne film, The Bourne Ultimatum , the good-natured Damon, 36, is also settling into life as a husband and father.

He married Argentine-born Luciana Bozan in December 2005 and their daughter, Isabella, was born last June. Luciana also has a daughter, Alexa, from a previous relationship. “The personal joy that comes from having a child is indescribable,” Damon said. “It’s like trying to explain a perfect guitar chord - there aren’t really words for how great it is.”

Smiling, he admits his wife’s previous experience as a mother has been helpful, but she also has forced him to find his own way.
“For the first few months I kept handing the baby over saying: ‘Why is she crying?’

“My wife would say: `I don’t know. Just because you’ve raised one child doesn’t mean you have all the answers. You have to figure it out, too.’

“But the marriage has been great, better than I ever thought, I have to say. She is a great mother and partner and she’s perfect for me in every way. It just keeps getting better.”

#182 - I think it’s easier said than done. One of the occupational hazards of being in that industry is loss of privacy (paparazzi) but just imagine having to deal with 15 to 20 photogs at your front gate EVERY day shouting at you all kinds of silly things. Then add the complication of having someone you loved very much passing away.

I would think you would try to account for the paparazzi situation, just as you would all of the other arrangements that inevitably have to be made with a death. Unfortunately, that’s their reality so I could see how they (specifically Brad) would want to do things to divert and distract them from intruding on his family at this time.

Wishful thinking on my part. Brad and Angie attend the Oscars, looking beautiful, heads held high. Runt Seacrest attempts to speak with them, as they walk right by him with ear to ear smiles!

Brad is Baptist and Angie doesn’t practice any religion in particular. There was an article or interview in which she made a comment they are discussing religion for the children. The way she phrased it was wonderful, I wish I could remember and find it.

Marcheline is a traditional and devout Catholic. Perhaps, Angie will respect her mom’s beliefs.

Angie is a baptized Catholic.

Ok you guys need to just chill out a bit. You take so much from a minute of pics.
That is definately Brad just going about his business. Same build, glasses, shoes, just different bike…one we’ve all seen in the past.
I think Brad knows he will be away from LA for a while so as CEO of Plan B, he is taking care of stuff, all the people who work for him, depend on him as their head. So he is taking the reins and being a multi-tasker.
Brad has been such a support to Angie…in the vogue interview Angie said it’s Brad who gets her through difficult times because he is the closet to her. BTW, he has grieved with her for these two years and helped her be better equiped for this sorrowful time.
They are all going about their business, Angie seems to be grieving in private, the way it should be, finding comfort in her kids.

I don’t know. My mom was raised in a big Catholic family and she and my dad are both atheists. I have been to all sorts of churches since I was young with friends but I too am an atheist. It is not b/c of my parents, Jesus was never even discussed at all in my home. I have tried to understad all religions that are based on Jesus and simply do not believe. I do beleive in Angels that were family members and came back as Angels. I will though honor anyone the way they wanted to be buried, memorialized, etc.., and I will do it with love because my own beliefs don’t overrule respecting thier beleifs.
That’s my 2 cents.

Oh, I meant to add to the ‘Is it or is it Not Brad,’ discussion…

Brad has a very distinctive gait and walk, also no one’s torso sit’s on their hips quite like his, and his shoulders and chest are VERY hard to duplicate…along with being very hard…(cough).

It would be difficult finding a decoy with the same body type and gait…unless Brad has an identical cousin who got some of the same genetic blessings, cuz hell - even his own bro’ wasn’t gifted with what Brad was.

Angie belongs to a Catholic family. When his father was in Italy, last year, to present, on the italian television rai 1, the tv movie about the Pope John Paul the second, said that he was Catholic and that his mother, (Angie’s grandmother), was a very devout Catholic.

Let’s not get into who’s what. Both Angie’s Mom and Dad were Catholic, she may not be practicing (like Madonna, and many others…), but she grew up with those cultural and religious influences - and most likely got steeped in the rituals of baptism, communion, etc. But whether she did or not, it’s still her background. Much like being a Southern Baptist is Brad’s — he may not go around saying he’s a Baptist, or even thinking of himself as one — but he can sure tell you all about it’s influence and how was one of the things that shaped him culturally for good and/or ill.

It was nice of them to confirm what some of us already suspected about the GG appearance - that Marcheline wasn’t doing very well and Angie’s heart was elsewhere. Not that she was nearly as aloof as Seacrest made her out to be! Still much ado about nothing.

Love the pics of Angelina and Marcheline - especially with little Maddy! It’s neat to look back at their happy memories together and the joy they shared at having this new little person in their lives. Even though Marcheline was taken at too young an age, I am glad that she got to see her beautiful daughter find peace and happiness while starting her own family.

I am going to see The Good Shepard. I am into “all things Angelina”. I have loved her a long time, way before Brad came into the picture.

One thing not mentioned is how easy it would be for someone NOT a papaRATZI to pretend to be one to get close to such celebrities. Who knows that person’s motivation, and I don’t think the the paps would give a ****. No doubt they would secretlly hope the person would be up to no good thus providing them the photo exclusive they all salivate for.

Have been in lurker mode this past week, but I had to post about this alledged Keanu and Fraudiston hookup. I’ve always liked Keanu, and would be quite disappointed if he even thinks about getting together with that Thing. I used to wish for a Keanu/Sandra Bullock hookup, but then she got married.

Whomever she hooks up with it will not last. I read that she is way to self-absorbed and high maintenance, to hold on to a relationship. I think Brad needs a medal for putting up with her for as long as he did.
I read that she is so self-absorbed that she still thinks Angie broke up her marriage, when all along her marriage was circling the drain for years, long before Brad met Angie.
It is also said that Jen and Brad hardly spent any time together and that even on the Red Carpet, they looked strained with each other.
Yet her head is in the sand about the real reason for her marriage break-up, and she refuses to take any responsibilty for it.

This week, in deference to Marcheline’s passing, there will be no snarky mentions of X…and y’all know how hard that is for me…

I’m a wee bit conflicted about the tabloids this week. While each one of them does put their own little twist on the story, they essentially report the same things, and in some cases with the exact same quotes or variations of the same quotes. I really expected to see a bunch of full-blown fictional accounts replete with people wailing and collapsing in the hospital hallways…in full view of someone who could report the incident to the tabs. Basically there are two central themes this week, divided evenly among the tabloids:

1. Marcheline’s dying wish was for Angie to marry Brad - Star, National Enquirer, Life & Style

2. Will Angie reconcile with JV now that her mother has passed away - OK!, OuttaTouch, Life & Style

Special kudos this week to US for not subcoming to temptation and using either angle to sensationalize their story. Like People, US opted for a straightforward (for them) account of events and some filler quotes from those pesky little “inside sources” and “friends”.

Before I summarize this week’s articles you might want to take a little look-see at this letter that a former boyfriend of Marcheline’s received from her at X-mas time in 1988…and promptly sold on eBay after she died…

Take special note of her stance on remarrying…and then read what the tabs have to say and their fictionalizations will be crystal clear to you.

- Star: For the last few weeks the good folks at the Star have tried to pretend like they’re an actual news magazine and have adopted an approach that borders on being Joe “Just the facts, ma’am” Friday boring. So what the heck…I’m gonna play along with them and present their “facts”, such as they are:

* Marcheline’s decline was a “sudden down turn” as she had been doing better in recent weeks.

* Toward the end she was heavily sedated, but conscious.

* Marcheline thought of Brad as an angel who had been sent from above to take care of Angie and the kids and she very much wanted Angie to marry Brad.

* Knowing that her mother wanted them to marry, while in Costa Rica - and folks, this sucker is a STAR EXCLUSIVE!! - Brad and Angie had a “romantic, PRIVATE, commitment ceremony”. (Sidebar: They kill me with the “private”! Yeah…just Brad, Ange and the Star reporter)

* “They stood in the sand in their bare feet, looked into each others’ eyes and promised to love each other forever and to be loving with their children for just as long.” (Sidebar: Or so says the Star reporter present at the “private” ceremony.) They then exchanged simple rings, which they put on their right hands “to buck tradition”. (Sidebar: They also conveniently put them on their right hands so that if they ever again wear any rings on their right hands Star will be able to claim that “THESE are the commitment ceremony rings we told you folks about!” And I know y’all will be stunned to learn that they had pictures of the rings! Amazingly they were the exact same rings that Brad & Angie wore at the GG awards! And shockingly…they were on their right hands! ) Also, a jeweler is quoted about the rings being on the right hand, “If it’s not a trend, and Brad and Angie are doing, it surely will become one.” (Sidebar: No, this was not a bribe. Brad did NOT sign a contract to design jewelry for this man! Those cheesy X days are behind him now!)

* Because they are legally obligated to do so to prevent a lawsuit, the Star does admit that Brad & Angie’s rep denies this story. That’s not to say they care if you know they’re lying…

* An “insider” at the Hotel L’Ermitage where Marcheline had been living says that she loved Angie’s kids and couldn’t stop talking about Shiloh. (Sidebar: Now here’s some earthshattering “news”…a grandmother who loved her grandkids!”)

* Marcheline didn’t want Angie to put her life on hold for her. “Marcheline always told Angie to continue with her life. She didn’t want Angie to have the added burden of worrying about her. Marcheline wanted Angie to go after everything she dreamed of.”

* Marcheline’s nickname for Angie was “Bunny”. (Sidebar: This was actually reported in several of the tabs, so this might be the 1% of the story that’s true.)

* Marcheline “may” be responsible for Angelina’s unconventional streak. (Sidebar: “May”? Did these dipsh#ts miss the part where JV skipped out on them?) They go on to mention the usual Angie stuff - live-in boyfriend at 14, yada, yada, yada.

* A talkative family friend says that Marcheline loved recent developments in Angie’s life, ie, her stability with Brad and them buying their first home together, enrolling Mad in school in NOLA, etc. (Sidebar: Amazing how much talking Marcheline did just before she died, ain’t it?”)

* Angie promised Marcheline she’d keep her memory alive in all of her children and was happy that a part of her mother would live on in Shiloh. (Sidebar: Could these damned tabs just give it a rest on the bio baby vs. adopted baby front? That sh#t’s is just plain lame.)

* Not content to stay on point and keep the story limited to Marcheline’s death, Star takes this opportunity to point out what it feels are more signs of Angie’s nesting instincts and say she’s “Happily settling into domestic life” and getting to be a regular at restaurants & shops in their neighborhood, and it was while in the local art supply store that she got the phone call that Marcheline’s death was eminent. (Sidebar: Okay, my bad, they’re up to 2% truth, 98% fiction.)

* Angie immediately called Brad and Brad pulled out of the SAG awards “under the pretense of work commitments.” (Sidebar: They say that as if Brad taken a blood oath to be truthful about his private life to the SAG organizers!”

* At the SAG Awards, Ana Ortiz, from Ugly Betty “told” the Star (Sidebar: In Real-Worldese this translates to, “We were standing next to Gaycrest and we heard her say…”): “We all love Angelina, and her being such an amazing mother to her kids is one way to keep her mother’s memory close to her heart.”

* After Marcheline died Angelina fell apart. “She lost it for several hours after her mother’s death. She needed Brad and the kids to leave her alone. This isn’t just about losing her mother, it’s also about losing her best friend. But Angelina is trying to comfort herself in teh knowledge that Marcheline not only approved of Brad, she died feeling blessed that her daughter had found such a strong and supportive man.” (Sidebar: Aw hell…who cares if they made this part up? Bonnie’s probably damned proud of herself for throwing Brad a bone.)

- National Enquirer: Do yo remember how last week I b#tched that the Star and National Enquirer had the nerve to write 2 separate stories about the Coquette GG run-in, thereby torturing me into havng to read BOTH stories? Well, if we ever needed proof that the tabloids are trolling this blog…here it is…NE reports almost EXACTLY the same story that The Star does. Ahhh…it’s about time these sister publication started sharing resources. Now if only one of these piece of caca rags would fold up shop and go to the old gossips retirement home with Lainey. Since they’re basically the same story…here are the NE’s “highlights”:

* Marcheline’s deathbed plea was for Angelina to marry Brad.

* Marcheline had time alone with all three of them before she died, but spent most of the time with Angelina.

* A big-mouthed “source” close to Angelina & Marcheline says, “This is the signal Angelina has been waiting for. She’s lost her best friend, but her mom’s spirit is looking down on her, making sure she’ll be well taken care of by Brad.” (Sidebar: Is it me or is anyone else getting tired of these tabloids acting like Angelina is X and can’t get through the day without someone to tell her when the sun coms up and when it sets?)

- notOK!: For some reason this tab, more so than any other, has taken on JV as their personal charity case. Every since Shiloh was born they write these ridiculous stories about how Brad is trying to get Angie to reconcile with her loser sperm donor father. Natch they’re all hot and heavy this week on the JV tip.

Their details from the hospital pretty much mirror everyone elses -

* Although Angie, James and Brad all spent time alone with Marcheline, she spent the most time with Angie, who was the last person with her before she died. When Angie came out of the room whe was crying and “Brad swept her into his harms and tried to console her. She was sobbing but calm as he held her close to him.” (Sidebar: I’m assuming the same “inside source” spoke to EVERY tab because they all have the same story with some variations. This person must’ve made quite a nifty little sum.)

* Angie and Brad rode with her mother’s body down the service elevator to the waiting morgue van. (Sidebar: As is also a running theme in these recounts JAMES appears very little. I guess he went to get a sandwich and a beer while they moved his mother’s body to the morgue van.) After they saw the body to the morgue van A/B left via the regular passenger elavator. (Sidebar: James is still off eating his sandwich. Also note how this account differs from the one from BradForums - the nurse who’s friend was actually there said made no mention of A/B accompanying the body and said they had to leave via a helicopter on the roof because of the razzi frenzy. Which, BTW, is conveniently NEVER mentioned in any of these stories. Amazing,huh?)

(Sidebar: Uh, I think they meant “grandchild” cuz I’m pretty sure that “the boy” and “Shakeela” didn’t get bupkus!) At X-mas Brad gave up trying to convince Angie, but now maybe she will reconsider. (Sidebar: Uh, why? Her mother’s death didn’t suddenly make her daddy’s not a loser!)

* Not wanting to miss an opportunity to pretend they know other details about Brad & Angie, OK goes on to say that as they prepare to return to NOLA, B/A “feel NO offers and opportunity to raise their children in a grounded environment”.

* As proof of the above statement, they to on to say that the BAMZS have been dining a la famalie at local pizza joint “Angeli Pizza” (Sidebar: Uh-uh…cuz there have been PLENTY of razzi photos of that, right?); AND, Angie has been taking cooking lessons from a local chef. (Sidebar: “Local chef” cracks me up. Is there a place on the planet that has more “chefs” per capita than NOLA? Maybe she’s just getting tips from the kid making their pizzas at Angeli Pizza? “Now, Ange, remember, the sauce goes on the raw crust FIRST. Don’t EVER put the cheese first and then the sauce.”)

* In a sidebar story on JV - the only mag to bother with this story from HIS perspective. They say JV was “absolutely devastate” (Sidebar: Yeah, devastated that the razzi weren’t sitting outside his house so he could get a photo-op out of this. He even had his “god-daughter” there on standby!)

* A friend of JV’s said he learned about Marcheline’s death because he got a phone call from the hospital after she passed away. (Sidebar: Oh yeah, right. I’m POSITIVE that happened because we ALL know it’s the HOSPITAL’S job to inform the 28-year divorced ex-hubby of his former wife’s death. ***** saw it on the news like everybody else.)

* The same friend says, JV “realized later the hurt he had caused Marcheline and the kids and has reached out to all of them over the years. His only hope now is that Angelina AND JAMES will allow him to come back into their lives. He has a lot to offer as a father and a grandfather.” (Sidebar: Uh, pardon my ass but I believe he is NOT currently a part of their lives BECAUSE of what he has to offer - negativity and hurt!” I also think this is the first time I’ve seen in writing - even if it is a tab - that JAMES doesn’t have anything to do with his sh#tty sperm donor of a father either.)

- OuttaTouch: Add OuttaTouch to the growing list of media outlets now back-peddling on their skewering of Angie’s GG RC appearance. They, too, like People and US, now say that Angie’s “distracted demeanor” may have been due to her being worried about her mother.

Believe it or not, this week OuttaTouch’s story is more far-fetched than sister publication Life & Style…and that takes some doing!

* They say that after getting the phone call at the art store, where she was “visibly upset” (no fooling!) Angie spent a “sleepless night talking to Brad”. (Sidebar: Damn…I see Shiloh has been talking to the press again! Of course, I think they may have misinterpreted what she said. Tell me what you think, “Goo goo ga. Goo. Wa. Da da di do! Goo goo gi gaga.”)

* According to OuttaTouch, Angie and Brad arrived at the hospital at about 6pm, her mother died at 8pm. (Sidebar: Uh…I think they fudged on the timeframe in an effort to add more drama to the story by making it look like Angie BARELY got there before her mother died. As a matter of fact…US mag says they got there at 1pm…)

* A witness who saw them leave the hospital said, “Angie was crying so hard. Brad was there, not letting her go for a second. He was crying, too.”

* Here’s where the OuttaTouch starts getting creative - Since Marcheline’s death Angelina has been sedated and has no appetite. (Sidebar: Methinks they went to press before the photos of Brad & Angie and Angie & Holly hit the streets. Cuz…Angie sure didn’t look very sedated in those photos!)

* Marcheline hid her weakening condition from Angie and James. She even planned to visit Angelina in NO in a few weeks. A family friend says, “She never really let on how sick she really was because she wanted to spare her family.” (Sidebar: Insert your own disgusted noises here.)

* Another friend says, “She encouraged Angelina to get on with her life. she told her to enjoy her beautiful children and Brad, and to keep traveling and working.” (Sidebar: Here’s the 1% of the story that might actually be true!)

* Brad was like a son to Marcheline. The same talky friend as above says, “Marcheline died with peace in her heart, knowing that Angelina had found her soulmate. She knows he’ll look after Angie and be a wonderful father to their kids.” (Sidebar: Oooh…they maybe be up to 2% truthfulness…)

* OuttaTouch is another tab that brings up the insipid JV. They CLAIM that Marcheline hoped that Angie would forgive said sperm donor. Angie’s friends say that’s highly unlikely. (Sidebar: Five years later and they’re just now figuring that out?)

* They also say that Marcheline and JV remained “in contact” after their divorce (Sidebar: I know, I know…it’s lame. The man did occasionally see his children…plus she even made a movie with him about 4 years after the divorce.)

* For a final bit of utter ridiculousness OuttaTouch revisits a claim they made last May after Shiloh was born - that Marcheline showed JV photos of Shiloh. (sidebar: This is also true. BUT…JV has yet to realize that the dog he saw in the photos IS NOT his granddaughter.)

- Lifeless & Styleless: This week they start with their sidebar “facts”…

* Even though he’s working long hours on CCOBB, Brad still gets up early with the kids.

* Yet another claim that Marcheline’s dying wish was for Angie to marry Brad. A family friend says, “It was something Angie and her mother talked about a lot, but life kind of got in the way of the plans. Her passing is only going to make her wish for Brad and Angie’s marriage loom larger. But THEY have to get over their remaining hang-ups.”
(Sidebar: In case you didn’t read the letter at the link above, scroll back and read it now…then ask yourself, given how Marcheline could never bring HERSELF to trust another man enough to marry him…would she really be pressuring Angie into marrying because SHE wanted her to?)

* L&S also brings up the sperm donor and wonder if Angie will re-unite with him. A friend of JV’s says, “Now that John is the only remaining parent her hopes she’ll let him back in.” (Sidebar: Once again, James is not mentioned ANYWHERE in this article.)

L&S now moves on to their main story and here’s an example of how all these tabs apparently spoke to the same people. I believe it’s the People mag that also has a similar quote from an insider, “This isn’t just losing a mother - it’s losing a best friend.”

* L&S says Marcheline was “the most vocal cheerleader for Angie’s relationship with Brad” and a family friend says, “Her’s was the only opinion that mattered. Marcheline was very impressed with Brad.” (Sidebar: Poor James. Not only did he NOT lose his mother, too, but now his sister, his second best friend, doesn’t care what he thinks about her husband.)

* Since L&S can never seem to write a fully positive story about B/A they take an opportunity to shore up last week’s story and contend that even though Brad had Marcheline’s seal of approval, not all is “harmonious” in BAMZSland lately. Insiders say that stress has taken an “emotional and physical toll” on Angelina and Brad is worried that Angie has been losing too much weight and is too skinny and not eating enough. (Sidebar: Hmmm…they must’ve realized that last week they’d forgotten to get on the “Angie’s too skinny” bandwagon…)

* Becasue he’s busy on the set of CCOBB Brad asked his ‘rents to come visit. (Sidebar: Oh yeah, that makes sense. These are the same ‘rents who they said last week had lost respect for Angie because she called Shiloh a blob. I know the I personally find being around people who hate me to be the most non-stressful thing ever. It’s almost like going with your MIL for a mani-pedi…her treat.)

* A “Pitt family friend” says, “He’s hoping they can comfort Angelina and help with the kids. This will either break them up or bring them closer together. When it comes to Angelina there’s no middle ground.” (Sidebar: Hmmm…your relationship is in a precarious place…so you ask your ‘rents, who can’t stand your spouse, to move in for awhile and nitpick your wife’s every move? Could be me, but I don’t think L&S thought this through very much…)

- US Weekly: In their continuing effort to become the new People, US has opted for a non-contentious recounting of events. Kudos to Janice Min for taking a week off her “They won’t give me any non-razzi pictures so I’m going to belittle them whenever possible” campaign.

* US says that on Jan 28 Angie and Brad when to the hotel to pick up Marcheline’s personal affects. A hotel employee says, “Angie was actually smiling and seemed to be doing okay.” (Sidebar: What…no sedatives? I’m shocked…and the world was shocked!”)

* A family friend says, “Marcheline was a hippie and encouraged her kids to stand apart.” and “She was proud of the woman Angie had become.” (Sidebar: Poor, poor Jamie…apparently his mother wasn’t equally proud of him. I realize Angie is the famous one here, but could some of these as.sh.oles quit pretending she’s an only child!”)

* The friend also says that Marcheline used to like to take Mad out on her balcony and watch the traffic pass by.

* US also says that in recent months Angie had been closely monitoring her mother’s condition. “She was concerned but thought there was hope.” (Sidebar: What…you mean Marcheline wasn’t lying to her children to protect them?! Surely the L&S didn’t make that up?! No, Ma, say it ain’t so!)

* In recent weeks Marcheline’s condition had deteriorated. The family friend says, “A FEW WEEKS AGO, Angelina was told her mom was going to die soon. Her mom had rebounded before, but it looked bad.” US goes on to say this may explain Angie’s demeanor at the GG’s…backpeddling like a mofo…(Sidebar: All you haters out there…please take note, “A few weeks ago” does NOT inlcude the Christmas holidays! “A few weeks ago” does NOT include Brad’s CCOBB shoot in in the USVI. “A few weeks ago” was also the last time your heads weren’t up your asses.)

* While in NOLA after the GGs BAMZS were prepared to head for LA at a moment’s notice and arrived at the hospital at 1pm on Jan 27. (Sidebar: Gee…OuttaTouch said they got there at 6pm…surely they weren’t…gasp…lying?)

* An insider says, “Marcheline told Angie and Brad that she loved them. It was very emotional.” (Sidebar: No sh#t, Sherlock? The woman was DYING…of course it was emotional!)

* US says that if anyone can help Angie through this time, it’s Brad, “The man who has brought stability and domesticity to her life”. (Sidebar: Janice…they still aren’t going to give you guys any photos!)

* A friend says, “Brad has been an amazing support system.” and “Marcheline apporved of the relationship completely. And Brad love her.”

* Hotel staff says that Brad often came with Angie to visit Marcheline.

* According to US there will be a quiet funeral at an LA cemetary. (Sidebar: Oh come on…I was sooooo looking forward to going to Barbados to scatter the ashes!)

* Another family friend says, “Angie’s brother, James, was hit very hard, so she is spearheading everything. But she’s not telling anyone anything yet.” (Sidebar: Thank you, Janice Min, for throwing James a mention…)

* The same family friend says, “Angelina is coping as well as she can and holding up the whole family. It’s indredible. This is proof of how strong Angelina really is.” (Sidebar: Note to OuttaTouch…and she’s doing it without naps and sedation! Someone even saw her eating a hot meal!)

- People: People did their usual pedestrian job with a celebrity passing. The scans are available at Pitt Impressions, so I won’t bother to recap it. Suffice it to say that People pisses me off because they never give me much material to work with! Bsatards!

I’m just so furious over these pictures, why can’t they just leave that poor man be?

It’s got to be some kind of rouse, roose (sp?) to keep the paps away from Angie. He told them he’s going to be at his office every night or something, just to keep them from chasing him at home. I don’t know I just hate seeing him treated like some kind of freak show caged animal that can’t get away from them. I’ve never seen him being treated this way, this bad. It’s too much, so it makes me thing that this is something more than just the obvious. I don’t know, but it’s awful….

Here’s a little first hand Brad interaction I never reported before.

My friend in Santa Barbara used to rent this funky old farmhouse and all it’s little houses right outside SB. Gorgeous, you can see it from HWY 101, on a huge acreage. One day Brad Pitt pulled up in a big ol black Suburban with a realtor and wanted to purchase the property on the spot and had a check for 60 million with him, not kidding. My friend had to refer him to the owner who realized he could get alot more and didn’t really want to sell it so Brad ended up with his place that is close to my friend’s old rental. No BS here.
Anyways, I’m thinking it would be better if he got into one of the ever changing big cars he’s spotted in and “accidently” hit the gas.

Another friend of mine worked as a driver on boy friday on Troy when it filmed in Cabo. He said Brad always smelled like BO and patchouli, even when he would drive him at night, after he showered and was dressed in his clothes. I have called BS many times but my friend swears on this one.

Everyone knows that during that time frame 2002-2003, Brad used patchoulli as Maniston repellent. It was well-known she hated the scent, and coupled with Brad’s naturally hearty pheramones, Brad had figured out the perfect formula to keep Maniston off his jock big time.

When Maniston was ditched, so to was the patchoulli & funk.

Jolie a Prime Paparazzi Target After Mother’s Death

The American media runs on a 15-minute news cycle online and with celebrity news it is even sometimes faster than that. It was one week ago that Angelina Jolie lost her mother and one would think that there would be a moratorium on the star getting the long lens treatment. Not so - in fact - Angelina Jolie may be prime paparazzi target number one.

Is it really that bad? A report from nightly entertainment news show Access Hollywood explains. Normally when someone you know loses someone they loved very much, you give them their space. Sadly, the same can’t be said of the paparazzi, who don’t seem to be too moved by the death of Angelina Jolie’s mother Marcheline Bertrand.

The report explains that a visibly annoyed Brad Pitt was mobbed by the paparazzi (and subsequently blinded by flash bulbs) as he left his office this week trying to get home to Angelina and his kids.

In fact, it was so bad, Brad needed a police escort to his motorcycle. According to the report online from AH the paparazzi siege began early in the day as photogs staked their claim outside of Brad’s office, yelling at policemen who were issuing them parking tickets.
Not only did they harass Brad’s police escort, but they even taunted Pitt as he left the building.

“Has Jon Voight tried to contact you guys yet?” one yelled. “Be careful on your bike now,” another said smugly.

You know that whole ‘triangle,’ deal? News Bulletin: Maniston CREATED IT!!

…she tried to make Brad and Angie the amoral cheaters, and herself the innocent scorned victim of them both. She should be maligned and denigrated and ripped a new one at every opportunity for that ALONE! That is why I do what I do.

I’ve said many times before, in lieu of her disappearing from the public eye, and becoming a goat herder in Siberia - the only OTHER thing she can do, is give an interview saying her silly little jr high grudge match with Brad & Ange is over, and that there was no wrongdoing on Brad or Angie’s part, that her marriage was TOAST, and that she wished Brad and Angelina best wishes, good luck, and congratulations with their family.

You and I both know, Maniston is TOO DUMB to make the right decision, even though it would benefit her the MOST! It’s sad, but if you look up the phrase ‘pride goeth before the fall,’ you will see her picture right next to the quote….just ask her Mom.

Sadly she will continue to immaturely refer to Brad in lame a s s mag articles as ‘he who shall not be named,’ further labeling Brad & Ange as the ‘guilty parties,’ in the mini-van subconscious, wholly responsible for her current fate as a sad childless fug singleton. THAT is the impression she wants to give every time out of the box. That Brad & Angelina DID THIS TO HER. She wants the public to hate them. Sadly, she forgets, this is Hollywood, and the only person getting the cold shoulder at the box office from this self-same PUBLIC, when she tries to open a film ALONE, is MANISTON.

Her hype and constant presence in the public eye, could have been used to rectify the damage the VF piece did, and rehabilitate her own sad career situation…but nooooo — she chooses the low road, and runs to Oprah 3 times in 1 year to talk about the tabloid press.

She could have used that far-reaching forum, or any of her other multiple mag and rag ‘interviews,’ to MOVE ON and mend fences with Brad (a man she claimed she would love for the rest of her life in VF, and went on to tout as this wonderful human being). But she did NOT.

She did NOT, because she is LIVING ON THIS (the ‘triangle’), instead of her OWN steam as an actress. It’s like she inherently knows what we do…she is too plain, too ordinary, and too talent-LESS to do anything of substance….so the grudge match, the revenge bout, the ***-for-tat, the ‘race’, the competition, the one-upmanship (as we’ve seen lately in the form of Huvane inspired press releases given on the day of Brad related events (Golden Globes telecast, Academy Award Nods Announcements, and here, disgustingly..the latest..her ‘exclusive’ interview designed to steal headlines from Marcheline Bertrand and Angie and her family’s loss).

She will not cease to be deserving of my CONSTANT unrelenting WRATH, until she does as I’ve stated.

I really believe that Brad is acting as a decoy. I also think that she’s with James. It’s entirely possible that James is taking the loss worse than Angelina, especially if he, as some sons do, takes on the role of protector when the father leaves the family. Since they don’t stalk James, it could serve as a perfect haven, no pun intended, for Angelina.
