Is the rift growing between Mandy Moore and Nicole Richie?
It certainly seems that way when Mandy lays the smackdown in the March 2007 Spring Shopping issue of Seventeen Magazine.
The 22-year-old actor/songstress is dating Nicole Richie’s ex Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein and brings Nicole up in her yet-to-be-released Seventeen interview.
Mandy rips on Nicole’s body image saying, “I’m not Nicole Richie. I’m not like a toothpick, and I will never be.” Them fighting words! The March 2007 issue of Seventeen hits newsstands Feb. 13 — just in time for Valentine’s Day!

But I’m much happier to present this type of person. I’m not Nicole Richie. I’m not like a toothpick, and I will never be. I’m just a regular-looking person — and that’s okay. I’s taken a while to come to grips with that since its’ definitely not the norm in my business. But, like, who cares? If anything, that makes someone more special — or at least that’s what I tell myself. [Laughs]

I don’t understand… how is that ripping on her? Nicole is extremely thin- Mandy Moore has a normal figure. I don’t think she was being rude- just simply making a statement about her own figure. And Nicole Richie knows she is a toothpick.
Well I don’t think Mandy is like some curvaceous bombshell for her to be dissing Nicole’s frame.
Mandy is not curvy, but at least she looks healthy, not someone whose about to disappear anyday from lack of weight.
Mandy is a good talent. A nice voice but a better actress but I do wish she would drop DJ AM…dude is not hot!
a better actress than singer?! how about neither. which movie could you possibly referring to which she acted even half decent in that shows talent? let me see….one of her typical (all she has ever made) teen movies that any person who can memorize a script could easily have done just as good if not better in. she’s not a good singer, not a good actress = no talent. i honestly don’t know how she has lasted this long… i think it has something to do with just dating famous people to keep her name relevant.
i hate mandy, i don’t care what she thinks i still love nicole. it’s nasty of mandy to bring nicole into this by dissing her looks.
Well Mandy is wonderful, and i think her statement was really blown out of context as usual. OMG to me i read in this that she cares, and is probably a bit worried about other’s out there who are ruining thereselves, because of the industry. I think Mandy has a beautiful heart, and is a beautiful woman, and should never change anything about herself.
I saw her movie, and i have heard her music, and she deserves some kindness for hanging in their when other’s failed, because they can’t take the pressure of what they go through. Mandy continues to hold her head up high, and she is very lovable.
I don’t think she was putting anyone down. She was just saying she was not the type that could be used, and change in the business. I am glad she is proud of the way she looks now, and doesn’t let the industry influence her, and break her down.
Wonderful movie, and i so related to it, and her new music is fantastic.

Mandy used to look like a toothpick when she first came out with her singing career so what is she talking about? her arms were so freaking skinny…look at her old video Candy and u will see. She was the stereotype of a pop star w/ blond hair and all. Also i doubt she will be with Dj Am for very long, she isnt that good looking to me…shes so plain. And shes been gaining lots of weight anyways….she shouldnt even comment on self image and stuff. Look at the cover of 17, shes totally airbrushed in the face and thats sad when u have to be airbrushed in the face….

Everyone keeps saying Mandy has dated a lot of guys, but everyone she was with was a long term(no flings) relantionship. She didn’t just jump from guy to guy every other day like a lot of other girls do. Plus, she’s young. She should be dating and having fun.
Magazine interviews are done WAY ahead of the publication date. I’m willing to bet that she wasn’t even dating DJ AM when she gave the interview. But now that she’s dating him, the reporter jumped on the quote.
