HOLY NUTS! Anna Nicole Smith is dead! She apparently was found unresponsive in her hotel room. Her private nurse called hotel staff, who contacted 911 as her bodyguard performed CPR.
The cause? According to reports, it was a drug overdose. Anna was 39.
Anna collapsed at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital just after 2PM. Her temperature was running high last night, according to partner Howard K. Stern.
Anna’s son Daniel died of a drug overdose five months ago on Sept. 10. Her daughter Dannielynn (born Sept. 7) was supposed to undergo paternity tests soon…

Wow, this is shocking. While I’ve never liked her in particular, this is deeply unsettling. What makes this disturbing is that she left in a (seemingly) unsettled state of mind. Unlike some recent deaths (Marcheline Bertrand, James Brown, etc.), who truly seemed like they left the world with peace in their minds, Anna Nicole’s recent months have been just a tragedy after another, and I can’t say that she passed away in peace. I can say that if this news is true, she is in a better place now. But what will happen to her daughter?

I’m just floored. I was always pulling for her to get herself together. It’s so tragic for her baby girl. What a sad sad existence, given beauty and not enough strength to use it to better yourself. Hope she finds peace in the afterlife.

After all the turmoil she has been going through, I hope she has peace now. I’m sure Birkhead will get the baby if it turns out to be his otherwise it will go to H. Stern. He worshipped Anna so I’m hoping he gets the baby. I can’t beleive how sad I feel about this.

I’ve never been a fan of Anna Nicole’s, but my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends, and especially with little Dannie Lynn. I honestly wonder if it wasn’t a drug overdose - a judge had just ordered yesterday that a paternity test be done and there were allegations that she had been drinking, and possibly doing drugs, while she was pregnant. Regardless, I am glad that she is in a more peaceful place and just hope that her little girl ends up with a father who loves her and that the money goes to her.
Wow. I heard on our local rock radio station and I have to say I was sad. She had a hard life I do believe and I agree she just wanted to love and be loved. I wish baby girl someone who loves her to raise her and help her succeed in life. I feel sad even though I didn’t know her.

NO, we don’t know that.
Everyone that is saying it was an overdose. It has NOT been confirmed that is what she died of. The family has request no conferene be held by the hospital until they do an official autospy. Which can take a while…….. so I guess everyone that is going on and on about an overdose will have to wait and see.

I’ve never been a fan of Ms. Smith, but this is just heartbreaking. The last few months of her life were so hard for her; it seemed to be tragedy compounded by tragedy. I had held out hope that she would get things sorted out and go on to live happily ever after with her little girl, but sadly that wasn’t to be. Rest in peace.

What happened to Daniel, just happened to Anna. Keep him the hell away from the baby! This death, so shortly after her son’s death and the birth of her little daughter is tragic if it happened to anyone, any woman and it is tragic for Anne Nicole Smith.
I hope her little daughter will be brought up by people who love her and care for her deeply and are wise enough to guide her through her youth when she will to learn about her mother’s tragic death. If that person is the father and he can step up to the plate, then so be it. If he can’t then someone else who will nurture this young life tenderly and lovingly - money or no money.
I hope there was no foul play involved, for the sake of the little daughter. She will have enough to cope with as she grows up. If there was, then I hope the person is brought to justice swiftly so that the little girl and those who love her and Anne will be at peace.

Howard K. Stern is not her husband…and the “commitment ceremony” in the Bahamas doesn’t count. I’d sure like to see him investigated up one side and down the other. Glad this happened stateside. Maybe due dilligence will be given to this case unlike her son’s death in the Bahamas. Guess once her estate settles on the inheritance Howard will be a very wealthy man.
Rest in Peace Anna Nicole!!! I hope her babygirl will be alright. It’s very sad. She lived a very messy life. She’s not mother teresa but she’s not a bad person. It is so sad to see her life ended this way and left an infant behind. Awful news.
I met Anna briefly at Disneyland with Howard and Daniel several years ago. She was just there to enjoy the park with her son, but you could tell she was there often because of her interaction with greeting many of the park employees. She was sweet, soft spoken and almost shy in allowing me to take her picture with my daughter and our exchange student from France, and chatting for a few moments. I bumped into her in the camera/film store and she smiled at my surprised reaction and was totally gracious. She was totally beautiful in pigtails and casual clothes. Sure, her public life showed the outrageous side. But I am sorry for her brief life and was totally saddened by the death of her son, whom she obviously loved so much.
I know she admired Marilyn Monroe, but to draw comparisons to Marilyn Monroe and Ann Nicole is disgusting. Not even close. Marilyn had a serious film career. She had beauty and talent.
Why clarify that you’re not a fan?
Does it make you feel better about your condolences?

I don’t like seeing Anna’s body on the floor, moments before her death. Yet, she (or her “husband”) did market her C-section video, and her son’s funeral? A very strange end to a very strange and sad life….
As lyllian said, she probably was a simple country girl who came in contact with an extreme wealth, to which all sorts of bad people try to get to and exploited her naive nature.
Now are the two “daddies” going to argue for paternity for the baby who could possibly be worth $400M or so? That is just sickening. Lyllian are you a lawyer? What happens when a judgement was granted for her to argue again for her millions, but she is now dead? Does Howard have the right to argue and win the $400 “for the baby”? Someone in the Bahamas should just adopt her and raise her in peace….

I clarified that I was neither a fan nor an anti fan because I wanted to highlight that Anne Nicole Smiths death was tragic, regardless of whether you are a fan or not. The circumstances of her death, so shortly after her own son’s death and her daughter’s birth is tragic when it happens to any human being, regardless of whether that person was a celebrity or not, regardless of her public persona - which is all we really know about this woman. If this happened to a co-worker with whom I’ve exchanged no more then 2 impersonal emails, I would still feel like I feel now - very sad for her, very concerned for her little daughter. That is all.
However, I take your point that perhaps, there is no need to clarify whether we are fans or not, this is just tragic when a death happens like this to anyone.

Just wanted to clarify that Howard Stern may not end up being awarded the money by the courts. A lot depends on whether she had a will, the paternity of her daughter, and whether the courts recognize Howard as her husband (ie. does the commitment ceremony really count as “married” - I’ve never heard of there being a marriage certificate issued). There are no quick and easy answers to this one.
Regardless, it is a tragedy and I truly hope her little girl is well looked after and loved.
Jared - just curious about the source of the picture - last interview I saw of her she had short hair (maybe she had just recently got extensions?).

I don’t like that either, but I’m afraid that everyone will be subjected to it because, after all, her child is a baby, so ‘it’s not going to hurt anything’ {eye roll}.
To BAMZS fans… we thought that the press’ coverage of Marcheline’s death was bad. This coverage may exceed the outrageousness scale that Anna Nicole set.

I’m sorry, but just because someone is/was a public figure doesn’t mean that everything about their life is up for grabs. I really hope that the Irwin family destroyed every copy of the tape because no matter the professional pose that journalists take, they are still about getting the get.
