Hey there, pretty lola. Thanks. May your days and nights be filled with love and laughter……
This is interesting. Since I was bored, I was just reading the history of National Enquirer and other tabloids from different sites and got some very interesting idea about how the tabloid world works and why it feeds on certain stories. Here are some interesting things I got from my little insignificant research.
In the early days, Enquirer staffers were infamous for fabricating incredible stories to create sales enticing headlines, attracting customers that still held the naïve belief that ‘they couldn’t print it if it wasn’t true.’
Reporters would pose as bellboys, cops, funeral workers or whatever the situation called for to get a scoop on these stars - and if they couldn’t get a good story legitimately, they frequently just made them up.
For over a decade, the tabloids could always count on a good story about Judy Garland overdosing and getting her stomach pumped, getting married over and over, drunkenly trashing her fellow stars in public, passing out in her food and other unsavory activities. And the readers loved it. Trouble was, Judy headlines sold a lot of papers on a regular basis - now that she was gone, the weeklies found themselves with fewer and fewer living scandal-magnets to exploit.
Supermarkets opened up space around their checkout stands to display new publications when People and US magazines were unleashed in 1974 based on the demand for stories about stars like Sonny and Cher. Particularly Cher, because she was leading a roller coaster life - at least according to the Enquirer, comfortably selling around five million copies each week by that point. The tabloids linked Cher to everyone living and dead - married one month, divorced and pregnant the next. She reunites with Sonny, then drops Sonny, dates every other star in Hollywood, opens a roller-disco, goes punk rock, then starts dating guys half her age.
Just throw in a few other bizarre details, true or not, it didn’t matter - because it’s perfectly legal to print just about anything you like about a celebrity.
Despite occasional dubious stories, few celebrities have won lawsuits against any of the tabloids; libel cases have traditionally been stacked against the celebrity.
Hahaha this is funny. I read it on another site.
Who buys celebrity titles on the newsstand, in terms of demographics?
Traditionally at the newsstands, it’s younger people with lower income and lower education. The key issue is that the success of celebrity titles demonstrates you can find success on the newsstand if you focus on issues that people want to read.
If it’s working on the newsstand, it’s a mark that magazine creators are doing what they’re supposed to be doing.
In terms of editorial content in the celebrity titles, what does work well?
The old conventional wisdom is that death is the best seller. People’s best-sellers were the issues about the deaths of JFK Jr. and his wife, and Princess Diana. In general, scandals, divorce and death sell best. The breakup of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston made a lot of fortunes for people.
Guys, as much as I’d like to believe that the tabloids are going to stop with the BS Brad and Angie stories, I don’t think it’s going to happen for a long time. Damn, poor Angie, poor Brad, hope they can take their name in those trashy tabloids for the forseable future. Let’s just hope some other very big scandal breaks very soon to clear them from the stands.

ITA. Well said. No A list guy or successful man would dare date her. just look at how she backstabbed Brad after the divorce for the purpose of her own career. luckily, Brad is so powerful that he survived all this backlash created by Huvaniston. I think this could be another reason she is not getting any project .
For the B-day visit by VV, its another PR stunt pulled by Cox, Vince and mediawhore Aniston, Cox needed it for her TV show, Maniston with no major project coming out, she had already used the boob job, nose job, releasing nude photo, whatelse ? but informed People’s your B-day bash including guest who come to the party, Vince needed this for his image, and promotion for his movie coming out this year.

ITA. Anything that is connected with BAMZS even if its just a tidbit about them is a proven formula, be it lies or an actual sighting, or other people/org with their own agendas uses their name to get publicity either by praising/bashing. Facing dwindling sales even the mainstream media is joining in the fray.

Happy Valentines Day to all JP fans!!!
Hi KT!
I think Daniel Craig was in Lara Croft with Angie…
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0146316/
Another thing…Gerard Butler, who also played along side Angie in Lara Croft is making it big as well. He was in Phantom of the Opera, and now the new movie 300, soon to come out in theatres.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0124930/
****************************
Thanks Masina for the information on Daniel Craig. I don’t remember too much about his character. I guess I’ll have to go back and rent the movie, so I can check out the chemistry between Angie and Daniel.
Hiya, MF, I’m at work now, snow has been cleared from streets, trains running on time — but Valentine’s Day for me postponed because partner works 12-hour days now. How was your VD with hubby?
I can’t believe that _ is now using her birthday party to pimp herself just so she would still be in the news. And she invited (or had Courteney invite) her PROVEN cheating ex-boyfriend VV to the party, and played nice with him? SHEESH!!! And they call Angie the media wh*re. Now if the _’s antics isn’t MEDIAWH*RING 101 I don’t know what is!!!!
Thanks Masina for the information on Daniel Craig. I don’t remember too much about his character. I guess I’ll have to go back and rent the movie, so I can check out the chemistry between Angie and Daniel.
why does that matter now?

?
It’s my own curiosity because I didn’t remember him in the movie. Daniel Craig is Bond now and I read somewhere Angie expressed interest in being a Bond girl.
Original Curious, I hope you have a fabulous trip :) I’ll miss ya, hun!
Hi Missouri fan! I’m so glad to see you here. :) And I hope you’re doing well.

I’m watching The Daily Show as usual and guess who pops up in one of the segments…Scarborough! I know he’s a fan of the show and TCR but I watch those programs to not see him
I’m not into the over-the-top PDA. I’m an old romantic at heart. I prefer the subtle understated PDA between Brad and Angie at the GS, GGTOU premier and at the GG. It’s how they look at each other, hug each other, and gently kiss and caress each other. It’s a deeper and more meaningful love.

Wow….Jon’s guest tonight was Ishmael Beah and to say the least, he is an extraordinary human being. He was there promoting his book “A Long Way Gone”. The interview wasn’t a laugh riot because Jon has a cold and he was in awe of him.
Here’s a description of the book from amazon
This absorbing account by a young man who, as a boy of 12, gets swept up in Sierra Leone’s civil war goes beyond even the best journalistic efforts in revealing the life and mind of a child abducted into the horrors of warfare. Beah’s harrowing journey transforms him overnight from a child enthralled by American hip-hop music and dance to an internal refugee bereft of family, wandering from village to village in a country grown deeply divided by the indiscriminate atrocities of unruly, sociopathic rebel and army forces. Beah then finds himself in the army—in a drug-filled life of casual mass slaughter that lasts until he is 15, when he’s brought to a rehabilitation center sponsored by UNICEF and partnering NGOs. The process marks out Beah as a gifted spokesman for the center’s work after his “repatriation” to civilian life in the capital, where he lives with his family and a distant uncle. When the war finally engulfs the capital, it sends 17-year-old Beah fleeing again, this time to the U.S., where he now lives. (Beah graduated from Oberlin College in 2004.) Told in clear, accessible language by a young writer with a gifted literary voice, this memoir seems destined to become a classic firsthand account of war and the ongoing plight of child soldiers in conflicts worldwide.
I was at the supermarket this afternoon, and guess what The National Enquirer has on it’s cover? Brad to Angelina:”I want out”. Plus the guilt over Jen. Plus Angelina is jealous. On a week following ANS’ death, can’t The NE come up with something more relevant for a tab? God, I really want to know who buys these tabs.
As for Chinnochio, I only need to see that clip of her at the PCA to know that there is no passion between her and VV. That doesn’t mean they may not get back together, just for the purpose of financial gain. She may not need money now as much as a man, but I have a feeling VV is still very much after making beaucoup money. Poor Jennifer.

We see that same attitude from Uma, Reese , and Nicole but not from that sitcom hack. Who until now almost 2 yrs. is still feeding the press with more references to the divorce. The insecurity is scary.
Got me thinking it has something to do with family backgrounds. The parents of these actresses are highly educated. Reese’s dad is a surgeon, Uma’s is a college professor and Nicole’s ( not sure of profession)dad. These women showed strength in character and disposition
=====
Nicole’s dad is a Pshychiatrist Physician. All these girls handle their divorce with absolute class. No tears, no whinning, share equal responsibility of the marriage down fall , no backstabbing of X, and move on with their life!
*****************
I agree up to a point. Parenting only takes you so far, but at 38, X needs to act like an adult and take responsibility for her own actions and take charge of her own life. That’s why I applaud her for getting enhancements. If she feels it will help her to compete against younger and more beautiful girls, then great. But why does she feel like she has to lie about it….Denial is not acting like an adult.
Hi Missouri Fan, Happy Valentines Day to you, and I voted three times today. She is waaaaaayy ahead, thanks to you, maybe??
Passing Through,
MSN’s utterly slow right now, but is this the hand on the ass photograph that you were looking for?**********
I finally saw Casino Royale today. I have liked Daniel Craig since I saw him in Lara Croft, then in Munich. But today, I am in love with Bond, I mean Daniel Craig. I loved Sean Connery as Bond also, but never liked Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan too much. Craig is awesome. I rooted for Clive Owen to get the Bond role, but now I have mixed feelings. Oh, what a dilemma. To borrow from the princess in Roman Holiday, I just made up my mind: “Daniel, by all means Daniel” LOL.
a quick hello’s to all of you and hv again!

OMG…I have been over at FF posting as sadfanistons for the last hour or so (btw, I am NEVER over there) I just happened to go exploring in there after seeing that FF Valentine Poll on the net that Brad won that I brought over here….
….so I’m posting under the name sadfanistons, smoking the fanistons and haters left and right - and gradually making my way down the list of threads…when lo and behold I see an ENTIRE THREAD on ME over there!!! WTF?!
Hahahahaha!
It’s entitled, ‘Is Cliniqua a guy?’ - What in hell??!! I am reeling. Not because I care about the thread title, but just thinking that there are whole groups of people on other sites carrying on conversations about me like they know me - that I know NOTHING about….am I that notorious??!!
Man, maybe I really do need to get my own blog (seeing dollar signs)
My dreams of being the new JJ aside (a FEMALE ONE people!!) lol….I just have to say, their stupidity knows no bounds.
My thoughts on Vince Vaughn being “A List”…he missed his chance. Brad likes real guys, funny guys. Vince could have been a great addition to the Brad Pack. He IS funny, likes to carouse, likes to hang with the crowd.
Who knows? He and George Clooney could have been introduced by Brad, and before long Vince may have found himself in Soderberg movies, even Ocean’s 14. But he backed the wrong horse when he hooked up with Jennifer and The Break-up. In my opinion it was a lateral move for him.
He had gained a lot of notice with Wedding Crashers, so The Break Up was not a star vehicle, it just stabilized him.
He was very funny in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and he and Brad had a cool vibe. The scene where he yells at his mother while Brad is borrowing a machine gun is great. There was a chance for them to bond and create a friendship. However, he chose not to capitalize on the opportunity, so whatever. See you on the” B” list for a while longer, Vince…
817, ntt…I’ll make a deal with you. I’ll see Daniel in the Bond movie if you will see Gerard Butler in Dear Frankie. It is a european independent movie and hard to find in the US, but sooo good. I am shamelessly promoting it. Deal?

I think GB is very handsome in Lara Croft. I’ve not seen him in another movie. I’ll look for Dear Frankie. Thanks for the recommendation. Oh God, I don’t want to find too many good looking actors. My head will explode. LOL.
