If you had any clue about the film industry you’d know the first thing anyone tells you is not to go to film school because it’s a waste of time. I’m not going to fault you, I made the same mistake myself. I went to U of T (btw: one of the most multi cultural schools in the most multi cultural cities in the world) for my undergrad and did my post grad work at UCLA. Both schools means both jack and squat to anyone.

43 I have read through a few of Magnus’s posts and I took it as a given that he is a racist. You didn’t come to that conclusion? Why not? I didn’t argue with him. I just figured that’s the way he is and that’s that. I’m not here to try to change someone’s beliefs. I think it not possible to do that anyway. I felt that he was pretty comfortable with that label because he never denied it.

Regarding the comment, I (nonracist) wouldn’t call a black person a baboon. If someone truthfully resembled a baboon (and let’s admit it that some people do look like animals), I could say it, but to call Beyonce a baboon is pretty mean-spirited. But if Magnus feels that way about blacks in general, that’s how he could see her that way.

I think Team Lara Croft is a good debater about a lot of subjects. She’s done a lot of posting here on JJ. You could be right that she didn’t know who the movie makers were, but I think she doesn’t believe Magnus came from Toronto. That’s what she was saying. She thinks he is lying about his background, so she kept calling him a country bumpkin. We tend to think of racists as being from the south or backwoods in America. I don’t know, he could be. In your opinion, have any black actors, or any non-white actors for that matter, ever deserved, or rather earned their Oscar’s, Emmy’s, etc.?

Also, what criteria would be necessary for a black actor to be perceived as having earned such an award as opposed to being seen as simply receiving it as a result of successfully “crying for a handout”?

Also, would you agree that perhaps Kanye having an SI cover would not only serve as a source of controversy in light of the racial under-current, but also as an attempt to penetrate further into the “urban/hip-hop” market demographic? (In otherwords they wanna profit off of the black market).

In light of the discussion of racism, I’m not sure being exposed to multi-cultural surroundings (i.e. Toronto) expands one’s perspective into an elevated realm enlightenment. Perhaps, those surroundings, if observed from a superficial perspective, serve merely to reinforce any preconceived notions about said racial, social, or ethnic group, agreed?

This dude Magnus doesn’t realize that life is not fair in so many ways. Whose fault is it that the precious Oscars are losing it’s prestige?
