Angelina Jolie Wins an ‘Oscar’ in New Orleans

Angelina Jolie took her Goodwill Ambassadorship to New Orleans today, making the beleaguered city more beautiful just by being there.

She watched the Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday parade from the balcony of her French Quarter mansion. As costumed people walked down her street, Jolie pointed out her favorite outfits to kids Zahara and Maddox. When one man walked down the street dressed as an Oscar, Jolie yelled down at him, “That’s adorable!”

Chris Cudddihee, the walking Oscar, yelled back up to her “I’m for you, Angelina!”

Cuddihee, a manager of a clothing store in town, tells Usmagazine.com, “We happened to be walking down and we saw her open a door. I could tell it was a movie star arm coming out of there and she brought the kids out and she waved to us. I waved and I said, ‘Hey you won me!’”

Cuddihee added, “That is why I wore this outfit and that made my day. We weren’t expecting to see Angelina Jolie today. Or to see Zahara and Maddoc wave at us. It was pretty cool.”

Paul Broussad, a kitchen and bath designeer, Cuddihee’s boyfriend who was dressed in a tuxedo to escort his “Oscar” Tells Usmagazine.com, “It’s great that they are here. It’s nice to have a little glamour in this city.”

Let’s celebrate that Angie is smiling and healing after her mom’s death. The love of Brad and the children is helping.

Yes, she looks rested and happy to be going about the business of just being Mama. She said in one of her recent interviews that she never expected to be the one who ended up in a healthy nuclear family situation, and that she was so thankful for it. I am sure that healthy family unit she and Brad have made for themselves is her comfort and solace.

So glad they are finding peace and bonding in NO and feeling comfortable enough to interact with regular folks. (posted this sentiment once already, but it didn’t show up yet…)

Brad Pitt plans to shoot in Varanasi

Imagine Brad Pitt chewing a Banarasi paan, relishing a frothing lassi on the majestic Ganga ghats in Varanasi. Well, this may actually happen.

The 43-year old actor has serious plans of shooting a full-length Hollywood film in the city by 2008, sources who hosted the Fight Club star in Varanasi in November last year said.

”Brad and his companion Angelina Jolie did not come here only to relish the unrivalled mystical charm of Varanasi but it was a well-planned trip to study the various locations for a future movie,” a leading theatre personality, who hosted the Hollywood star in the city, said.

”Brad not only enjoyed boat ride on the Ganga river, besides relishing the lassi and paan, but he also videographed many locations on the riverfront, including Darbhanga ghat, Lal Ghat, Rana Mahal Ghat, Ahilyabai Ghat, Daswashamedh Ghat and the Rajendra Prasad Ghat,” sources added.

“He me that by 2008, he may produce a film to be shot prominently in Varanasi. The venture would have Brad both behind the camera as well as in front of it. We are now eagerly awaiting his next trip to the city,” sources said.

The star took time out to visit Varanasi while Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie was busy shooting for A Mighty Heart — a movie based on Wall Street Journal scribe Daniel Pearl.

Before this only one mainstream Hollywood film has been shot in the city which has been a heaven for Indian documentary filmmakers.

Reknowned filmmaker Ismail Merchant had shot some sequences of the Merchant-Ivory creation The Guru in the bylanes of Varanasi in the late 1960s and in 2004, trouped to the city again with pop diva Tina Turner for studying the locations of the ancient city for his next venture The Goddess where the singer was slated to play the role of Goddess Kali. Tragically, Merchant passed away in May 2005.

US Weekly has on them on the cover but they aren’t the main story of the week they claim that Brad and Angelina are adopting from vietman.

I guess the Indian press and the bruhaha at the Muslim school didn’t leave a foul enough taste in his mouth for he and Angie not to want to come back. Brad’s always one step ahead it appears, and his love affair with Angie does seem to be sparking quite a creative burst in him. Isn’t this the same guy who was depressed and thinking of giving up acting and film-making altogether about 4-5 years ago?

Hee, what a difference a pair of pillow lips can make! Go on Brad with your bad azz self!

Hi, bluemoon, I think when they were talking about behind the camera they didn’t mean directing but as a producer. Yes, it could be Shantaram or maybe even a movie he is starring in and also producing. Of course, who know if it is true or not. I’m not sure how I feel about them going back to India if true, but they will know what is best.

A source tells Britain’s Grazia magazine: “This year is crux time. They have to reach a decision on what they expect from each other - and fast. Angelina has to realize Brad needs stability and Brad has to come to terms with her driving ambition as a world ambassador. Brad’s family are blown away marriage didn’t happen a long time ago. That is, of course, until it stopped working late last year when Ryan was caught cheating with his Aussie co-star, Abbie Cornish. Let’s hope things work out a tad bit better for Brad and Angie.
