Sports Illustrated: Tyra’s 10 Year Anniversary
In honor of Black History Month, Tyra celebrated the 10th annivesary of becoming the first Afircan-Americ an model to be fatured solo on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Editon. She recreated the groundbreaking photo in the Bahamas while wearing the same polka-dot bikini witih the same photographer she worked with a decvade ago. Here are the amazing photos from that shoot!

I don’t even understand why race was being played here on this blog…when I first saw the photo, I didn’t say “black Tyra was airbrushed” or “why does black Tyra have hazel eyes?” That is ridiculous…anyone who cannot discuss the photo rather than bringing up race have their own issues to deal with…
I saw the photo and thought, “she doesn’t look 1/2 bad even if it is airbrushed.” Haven’t any of you read or looked at fashion mags? The cover models are always airbrushed along with the editorial pictures and ads…airbrushing is nothing new and as far as I can remember it hasn’t mattered what race or ethnic background you are…the mags are always gonna erase the stretch marks, cellulite, pimples, etc…that is just a fact…I mean, when Demi Moore posed for Vanity Fair nude while pregnant, did you really believe there weren’t stretch marks somewhere??
Personally, I don’t care either way…I’m not sure why this is an issue…I have always found Tyra beautiful the same way I do other models…and anyone who calls her fat has a warped view on beauty or is trying to start some serious debate…if you say she is fat, then you’re fighting on the side of all the fashion critics who believe 100 lb. models are curvy and fabulous…we need some more curvy role models so young girls can avoid eating disorders and a warped perspective on their own body image…

I saw Tyra on ET on last week and she was having an interview with AJ and what she conveyed to him was that it was indeed the same bathing suit from her first shoot however; they had to add some more fabric to the bra portion (she acutally showed it to the camera so that the audience can view for themselves) Not that this infomation really matters but I thought I would pass it along. I am more than sure you can catch the interview on ET’s website so you can hear what she says about all the comments in regards to her weight gain. My personal opionion is that it really does not matter. Live life and live it Abundantly! Who cares if the girl lost
or gained weight?
Airbrushing probably yeah … but there’s always or a lot of airbrushing in celebrity photos.. haven’t you all worked that out yet? That’s why they all look as skinny as models in Vogue… not realistic,..come on ladies get with the progam, you are being brain washed into thinking that everyone’s that thin.
Give Tyra a break. At least she looks natural and is trying to be honest…and not overloaded with plastic surgery or botox like a lot of her contemporaries.. Cindy Crawford & Linda Evangelista for one…
i feel so bad. i love tyra banks so much; she is amazing; and anyone who doesn’t give her credit is lame.. she was a super model. and now she’s a really motivational person who helps people… she went from model to oprah-like. and she’s really sweet and successful. i love her, but that is so airbrushed.. like.. too obvious. it looks like something my 10 year old cousin did on photo shop!
She is beautiful for sure.
And intelligent.
But she certainly got old, put on some weight..
But calling her FAT Tyra is way too much, people…she used ti be skinny, now she’s normal…in fact..she must be skinnier than most of America’s population for sure.
Of course it was photoshoped..but most of magazine’s covers are..even if it’s a Gisele Bündchen cover.
Tyra looks great, cause she’s beautiful and beu]ing beuatiful doesn’t depends that much on how much u weight.
Look at Nicole Richie: thin as hell and still ugly.

She doesn’t look as bad as ppl make her out to be.
Yes…she’s not as toned as she once was..but shes’s beautiful nonetheless…

Ya’ll sum Haters! why cant she just do her without peoples always judgin her! whether she thin or fat she is still beautiful. i think a lot of yall are hatin because yall wish yall could be as beautiful as she is…
No, they do NOT always have to be mixed in order to have different color eyes besides brown. Are you guys geneologists or something?? :smh: I know several black people with colored eyes.. u don’t necessarily have to be “mixed”. And the reason most “mixed” people side more with black is because most of the time they look more black than white aka their skin is darker or *an olive color*, their hair still very thick and curly/wavy… and yeah, way to go bigots.
Tyra is really hot but looks soooo uncomfortable in the new shot. She should have gone to the gym and gotten into shape before doing the new shoot. I realize she was the first African-American to be on the cover of SI Swimsuit Edition but who celebrates themselves? Insecure much? And no one has commented on the difference in perspectives in the two shoots — much further away from the camera in the new shot. Which probably means she is quite a bit larger now, so the picture is misleading. If you can’t do something authentically, don’t do it at all.
i think you all are some hataz the swim suit hair background is not suppose to be exactly the same as it was 10 years ago but close ass possible i think she still looks gorgeous she is just curvier than she was in the other pic 10 years ago she dosent have to be stick thin to be gorgeous ppl just mad cause she in her 30’s and look better than half these broads in their 20’s
Ok, tyra looks beatful, for all of u who dont belive that her body actully looks like that ive seen her llive. yes live, and let me break it to u all her body is just wow, so for everyone whos dissing her calling her fat and trying to hide their insecruites by finding flaws in other peoples as tyra would say kiss my fat ass.
Tyra is awesome and a true role model unlike every one else birtney is emo, angelina is great but a marrige ruiner, jessica alba is so mean to her fans, i mean tyra is a great role model and is true to what she says.

WOW TYRA what happened to you, you used to be my idol but now your just tyra….. instead of a what 5 year gap between photo shoots its looks like fifteen years later she looks OKAY to say the least but the original picture looks brighter and more of a glossy skin than a newer dull picture….i believe the originaL PIC SHOLD HAVE STAYED THE ORIGNAL!! Well, I don’t think she’s fat on this pic. Not even on the right one, but what it makes it so scary is that her face looks like a vampire, anyway, that’s how it looks in my eyes. The body on the left looks very fake, but I like the hair :P Tyra naturally has a beautifull skint.
I happen to think that she look radiant in both pictures.
As some of us know the body does change after ten years. He chest isn’t going to be high and perky. They are going to head south. That natural. She hasn’t changed that. Which I admire her for. Yeah she gained some weight here and there. Again that natural. Not everyone in the world is going to be skinny for the rest of his or her life.
As far as the color of the picture. Think back ten years ago how were the camera’s back then. Now fast forward ten years. What are the camera’s like today. Right!. The swim suit she has on. As far as we know from what Tyra has said on her show it is the same bikini just with added material.
About he airbrush. Every magazine you look at there person on it is airbrushed. Whether thet are black or white. They are airbrushed.
Put it this no matter how you look at Tyra she is still a beautiful woman.

I am black(light-skin)with light-brown eyes. My brother is darker than Tyrese(Singer/Actor)he also have light-brown eyes.
I think Tyra looks great, work or no work done. People complain because they want thicker models, and some people in this blog are judging her looks because she’s thicker. Come on! real woman are curvy and sexy. Because of comments like these, many young girls think they are fat when they are not.
Tyra is not fat in the second picture. How can people say that? Yeah she is bigger, but nowhere close to fat. She looks gorgeous in both pictures, but better in the first. That doesnt look like the same bikin either, but that may be becasue they adjusted it.
Still looking fab Tyra, even 10 years later.
They could have at least given her stomach some shades.. now it looks fake and unnaturally plane and flat.. lika a board… give her at least some muscle dammit if they’re gonna manipulate it so much..
