Brad & Angelina: Baby on the Way

Brad & Angelina: Baby on the Way

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are making the proper arrangements to adopt a child (probably a baby boy) from from Vietnam and find a sibling for Maddox, 5, Zahara, 2, and 10-month-old Shiloh. The superstar couple and their big news make their way onto the cover of this week’s Us Weekly and People Magazine.

Us Weekly first reported the news last month but the Associated Press didn’t officially report on Angelina filing adoption papers until last week.

Brad, Angelina, Zahara, and Shiloh were last spotted out on a Monday morning stroll in the French Quarter while Maddox was in school.

Since January, the Jolie-Pitt family has settled into their $3.5 million mansion in New Orleans, where Brad has been filming The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (kissing another woman!). But soon they’ll return home to Los Angeles, where Brad will wrap up his Button filming.

Well, Jen Jen will always have Norman, unless he grows up, runs away from home, enters rehab and write a tell all book.

US Magazine knows they have went too far. And I can see Brad shutting them down when it comes to his family.

btw AJ and his sidekick on ShowBiz Tonight is singing a new tune all of a sudden. The poll results were basically down the middle — 52 to 48 percent, yes - no respectively. He read two e-mails on the show of course, one had the nerve to say they need to get married to show their kids good morals (there are plenty of people that are married that lack morals). And the other person said that they are committed to each other and their children. So if it ain’t broke why fix it. I have to agree with the second e-mail!

I get sick of people trying to tell others how to live their life. AJ is not a conformist and I am proud to see other women that refuse to confrom just to make others happy. I have NEVER been a conformist and other people opinions of me will/won’t change my mind either. I guess it’s the Aries in me……LOL

anustin, geez thanks to AG I am stuck with the friggin “mayor” title, heck does anyone else want to be the next mayor since I DON’T  How are you anustin? The haters just keep on cracking me up, so best thing is make fun of them, right ??? ;-)

Hiya OC abd bdj how are you folks doing?

OK, I had posted this new Angie UNHCR video befoe today but I love it so much that I want to share it again in case you haven’t watched it…..

Y’know, guys, no matter what anyone says, no matter how many times its denied, it is clear to me that children was a major issue in the split. They officially split when jen was 37, right? and up to then, she had shown no interest in having children.
I dare to say that any woman, who definitely knows she wants to have children some day, and for whom money is not a factor, by age 35 she must begin to feel impelled to start preparing her body to carry the new life…….for example, stop smoking; start working out (if you hadnt been, - not an issue for ___); start eating right - folic acid etc.

EXACTLY, so true. that’swhy I don’t believed all those adoption rumor. she is too selfish to sacrificed her career and body for motherhood.

Geez, post number 881 is here with her magic ball foreshadowing of doom and gloom for the JP’s. Now Rowan, if we hadn’t already seen and heard ALL these predictions for two years we might give your post a little bit of thought. Awwwww, why do you people always deny being fans of hers? You know it’s not hard to admit being her fan if you are. You care too much about Brad and Angie’s life as it is. Let me ask you a question, if you are not a fan of Brad and Angie, why are you coming here and telling us about your oh so terrible theories on them? Do you expect us to say “Oh no, we’ve been wrong, Rowan has saved us, we are no longer fans of those selfish, fame-whoring celebrities Brad and Angelina who use their kids for publicity”. Is that what you want? If it is, I’m sorry but you are not going to get that response from fans such as myself and others here. I am of fan of theirs and there is absolutely nothing that you have written that would remotely make me want to change my mind.

Maddox Chivan Children’s Center

Thanks to the generous donation of Angelina Jolie, the CHC opened the doors of the Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Phnom Penh in February of 2006.

The center provides a unique program of multidisciplinary care for Cambodian children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS

The center focuses on the growing population of children whose lives have been severely impacted by the AIDS epidemic. Before having access to therapy, support was limited to accompanying children in the last moments of their lives. Now, life expectancy is much higher, which changes the kind of support that they need - needs that extend beyond mere medical ones. They are typically victims of discrimination, unable to receive schooling because of their illness and because they have to take care of their ill parents or work to support their families. They are victims of discrimination at school and in their communities, traumatized by their parents’ death and living in extreme poverty in which their opportunities are severely limited.

She actually does support many villages in Cambodia (through de-mining so no more unnecessarily amputated civilians, schools and clinics), the Millenium village, help in building one in Ethiopia and sewing business community of women in another African country. Also, she extends her generosity to the Wild Kingdom with supporting the wildlife reserve in Namibia.

Here in the US, she has supported Cancer Research and fights for childrens’ rights in Congress.

So how much mouth do you have to handle that?

OK, on another note. Do you know that Drew Barrymore and Angelina Jolie are the same age? I like both actresses and was glad when Drew grew out of her self-destructiveness to create her own production company to finance her films like ‘Charlie’s Angels’. Drew is a big fan of Angelina and asked her for advice before she went to Africa for a photography trip.

Liberian refugee women stitch together new future after Angelina Jolie skills course

LARGO CAMP, Sierra Leone, Feb. 23 (UNHCR) – There was an atmosphere of joy and jubilation in Largo refugee camp last week when 50 Liberian refugee women each received a sewing machine after successfully completing a sewing skills course, funded by UNHCR’s goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie.

“Today, our dreams have come true and for this we are very grateful. When we came to the camp, we did not know anything. But, with the skills that we have learned, we now know how to sew both for children and adults, we can return to Liberia and will be able to do something on our own,” said Sangay Kawala on behalf of the trainees.

At the graduation ceremony the refugees sang songs in praise of Angelina Jolie and UNHCR. The Goodwill Ambassador donated the funds for the sewing courses in four refugee camps in Sierra Leone, including buying some of the sewing machines distributed to participants. UNHCR also helped fund the sewing machine purchase in Largo camp.

“I would like to congratulate all of you on the completion of your training. You deserve the certificates and sewing machines,” UNHCR’s Kenema sub-office head Ibrahima Coly said to loud cheers and applause. Coly encouraged the refugees to use their sewing machines to help them stitch together a new future and help others.

The majority of the group and their families have signed up to repatriate back to Liberia shortly, joining some 50,000 Liberian refugees from around West Africa who have now returned home since the official repatriation started. Back in Liberia, their sewing skills will be crucial to help them restart their lives.

“The future is now in your hands. Please make the best use of it. I would also like to appeal to you to kindly assist to train other refugees or returnees who were not privileged to get the machines. I wish you all good luck in your future career,” Coly told the happy graduates.

The main aim of the sewing project was to build the capacity of refugee nursing mothers, improving their nutritional status by giving them skills to generate income, says training programme coordinator Magdalene Dakowa of Catholic Relief Services. Another aim was for the sewing groups in each of the camps to produce 500 baby clothes for refugee children.

The initial six-month training project started in January 2004. The course was so successful that the trainees went on to produce children’s clothes for both refugees and host communities as a way of continuing their career development. During this period the women in Largo camp were contracted to produce school uniforms by one of UNHCR’s partners. The graduation ceremony marked the conclusion of their career training.

Funds for the project were also used to help 500 other refugee women improve their backyard gardening, again to help improve the nutritional status of the refugees.

At the graduation ceremony, five trainers of the project – three men and two women – also each received one machine. One of the trainers, Isata Koroma, came from the host community.

“The sewing machine that I have received will help me and my family,” said Isata. “I am a single mother. My husband was killed in the war in my country, Sierra Leone, and it has been really difficult for me to take care of our seven children. I am very grateful for this assistance.”

There are eight refugee camps in Sierra Leone hosting some 46,000 refugees, with most coming from Liberia’s most devastated Lofa County. With the positive changes taking place in Liberia UNHCR is now actively promoting voluntary repatriation for an estimated 160,000 Liberian refugees still outside their homeland. Some 46,000 Liberian refugees remain in camps in Sierra Leone with Largo camp hosting 5,300 refugees.

MMS is considered a dark action adult comedy. While promoting the film, reporters kept asking her how she felt playing a role with comedy in it. She said the only way she would do it is if the comedy had a darks twisted humor about it. But she still said this was unchartered territory for her but the action sequences weren’t. When Angelina was cast, the action in the film was really pumped up to fit Angelina’s background in action films.

That high-paid celebrities, many of them donors to the Democratic Party, were able to persuade the Republican Congress that they shouldn’t have to reach into their Prada bags for saying naughty lines on-air is no small feat. But it underscores the success a new breed of celebrity lobbyist has been having in Washington. A growing number of performers are being taken seriously on lobbying issues unrelated to their profession.

Here are the five most notable celebrity lobbyists in the past year, according to Capitol Hill staffers, lobbyists and nonprofit officials who spoke to Forbes:

Angelina Jolie’s crusade for the world’s less fortunate is moving Congress closer to committing 10% of total U.S. AIDS-relief funding for orphans under 18. Jolie, who D.C. insiders say was this past year’s “most effective activist” among movie stars, held private meetings with several powerful committee chairmen, including a testy one with staunch law-and-order conservative Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., about the legal rights of unaccompanied alien minors.

top 10 best communicators @ 03/09/2007 at 12:12 am

The communication experience people create determines their impact and ability to influence others. Decker Communications’ annual list of the Ten Best and Worst Communicators proves this point. President Bush, Angelina Jolie and Barry Bonds — are they among the Best or Worst Communicators of 2006?

San Francisco, CA (PRWeb) January 2, 2007 — Decker Communications, Inc. (http://www.deckercommunications.com), a leading communications training and executive coaching firm, announces its annual list of Top Ten Communicators. This year’s list highlights notable individuals from business, politics, sports and entertainment — and shows how their communications helped make or break them in 2006.

The Ten Best

5. Angelina Jolie — finally, a movie star, and beautiful at that, who is now known as much by what she says and how she says it as being beautiful. Under klieg lights she appears natural, (and they say those lips are natural too.) It is a tribute to her cause, and her articulation of that cause for children and the impoverished, that she has become a public figure as a stateswoman rather than just a beauty.

Angelina has donated more than a reported $ 12 million+ quietly before she came to limelight. But here is an interesting article from Forbes:

At times in the past, I have come down fairly hard on news stations featuring celebrities’ daily activities as “daily news.” But there are times when it is appropriate to discuss the daily actions of famous people, even in a magazine such as Forbes, when said actions amount to $58 million dollars in charitable donations given by three people.

That statistic becomes even more impressive once one realizes that Oprah Winfrey, love her or hate her, donated $52 million dollars in 2005 alone to charitable organizations and functions. The other two celebrities filling out the other $6 million are Steven Spielberg ($3 million) and Angelina Jolie ($3 million +). It has become a cliche of American society that “to whom much is given, much is expected” (possibly because so many people have ignored the sentiment), and many progressive thinkers (myself included) routinely attack the elements of society that give so much money to entertainers and so little to people such as school teachers, who are responsible for raising generations of youth.

But it’s also important to recognize that there are some highly paid people who don’t hesitate to give their money back to others. These are not people paying a tax on their income (though they obviously do that too), these are not people being backed into a corner and “forking over” a couple of dollars. Orpah Winfrey could have kept $52 million dollars for her own entertainment, but she chose to give it away to people who don’t have as much. And I think that’s pretty impressive.

ITA. Maniston is a sinking ship loosing her career, biological clock and fans. her lunatic fans are too ashamed to admit they are her follower.

Thanks #919 for bringing up my old post. I’m lurking and I want to add more information from Anderson Cooper who interviewed Angelina on the refugee issues. Contrary to what Rowan has written, this is what AC said:

Tuesday is World Refugee Day. Angelina Jolie was interested in discussing the plight of refugees, so we sat down to talk about what she has seen and learned in refugee camps around the world. She had no movie to promote, no product she was pitching. In fact, I have no idea what her next movie is and we did not discuss any upcoming films. There were no ground rules. I was free to ask whatever I wanted.

A lot of celebrities have causes and show up to talk about them when cameras are around, but the truth is that Angelina Jolie knows what she is talking about when the subject is refugees. To use a cliche, she doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk. She has traveled to some 20 countries over the years as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and she says she donates one-third of her income to charitable causes.

I’m not sure what I expected before I met her, but to say I was impressed would be an understatement. She is smart, funny, self-deprecating, and intensely passionate about her children and her work on behalf of refugees.
