It never fails, does it? Sooner or later one naysayer (or paid Huvaniston) always always has to put in a comment about either Angie or the children, usually Zee or Maddox. Of course we can always skip, but before we know to skip, we usually have read it already. Sigh … when will we ever get a thread that is just positive, no snarky comments from anybody?

from the previous thread, someone said that Angie might still be in Sin City 2 as Ava Lord. i so wish that is true and real. she would make one sexy and hot ava lord!

I can only hope that they know what they are doing with regards to a formal education of their brood. I sincerely hope that they travel with a teacher because taking kids in and out of school is not very cool during their early development.

Wow…bummer. It’s too bad they’re going back to La-la-land. At least it’s a gated community so the razzi will still have to keep their distance, but they sure had a lot more freedom in NO than they’ll ever be allowed in LA.

I laughed so loud when I saw one of the pictures, Z and Shi staring at the papz. I love it!!! They seem like so fed up when papstalkers. Z looks like she wants to jump out of the stroller and bite the photographer when her baby teeth. I’m sorry, I just can’t get over this… assuming what these two are thinking is so adorable (in my imaginative way). Classic!!!

The news was published by Variety Newspaper. It is not a gossip article. Variety deals with the ins and outs of Hollywood bussiness dealings. Whether Jolie is in and not, for the production company and Clint considering Jolie for the project is really something, isn’t it??

Well hope we all enjoyed the family pics, because they won’t be going out like that in Hollywood. When they’re in Cali all we get are pics of Brad on motorcycles, and Angie flying planes. And since Brad is filming BB on set at a studio instead of on location at various places, don’t expect any filming pics either.

It should be a relativly quiet next 2 months, the calm before the storm of the new child arriving & Cannes/Oceans 13/A Mighty Heart Premiere’s/Press in May and June.

Well, if she goes to the comic convention, then it’s a deal and she’s in. This is some more news on that front. Frank Miller was being interviewed on his movie 300 out today and he was asked a question to do with Angie.

You’ve also just started the casting process for a Sin City sequel. Is Angelina Jolie in or out?
Frank Miller: I’m pretty confident, but we’ll see.

Its called being an actor and having to film on location. He has to go back to LA to film the Movie He is making. jeez.

I’m glad that Brad and Angelina seem to have quite a few projects going on. They both seem to have interesting movie roles. Though I do think they will take a few months break from filming sometimes this year. I wonder how long the filming will be for the Eastwood one ?

Forgive me for bringing the X in here, but JJ had a thread of her up today which I couldn’t help but read - ya know, like a train wreck analogy. Anyhoo - in it she’s denying dating a cameraman. Not confirming anything positive, not announcing a new role, not anything. Can’t wait until she denies the break-up from the imaginary cameraman! In the meantime, th JPs are living full lives. AJ being mentioned in several high profile projects w/ names like Clint Eastwood. This is why we are fans. Must admit tho that X is worth her shriveled up weight in gold when it comes to tragic, typical celebrity type entertainment. She’s so full of herself and with each piece of news she tries so hard to generate, she digs herself more and more into Hollywood oblivion.

Thanks, Jared. This is a pretty long film shoot, I know Brad has been enjoying it but he will probably be happy when it’s all wrapped up, too. Great news about Clint possibly directing Angelina, he seems to carry so much weight in Hollywood. I would much rather see her work with Clint than do Sin City II, but as someone suggested maybe she can do both! I believe she said one of her main considerations in choosing a film is the length of the shoot, not much longer than 6 weeks if possible.

I get what you’re saying and I somewhat agree with you. People, whipping out cameras, while Brad and Angelina are with their kids seem creepy, but then again, the cameras came out when they went to that carousel in France last winter.

It also depends on the motives of the people in the car. If they were just driving and spotted them on the street, then I can understand their enthusiastiasm in capturing something completely unexpected; however, if these people were patrolling the neighborhood, stalking BAMZS, then that’s another story.

Another topic to debate…

Watched the first fifteen minutes of Showbiz Tonite last night. AJ Hammener was rather contrite concerning Angie’s adoption. All he said was something like she could adopt and he wished them well. Maybe he was spoken to after the show the other night.

The TV presenter branched out of his comfort zone and made a trip to Ethiopia for Comic Relief, which friends say has caused him to reassess his priorities.

“He’s been telling people how much of a harrowing experience it was,” a friend of the star tells theBuzz. “He hadn’t comprehended the extent of the plight there.

“It’s changed his attitude to charity and problems in the Third World. He said when you get back from a visit to Ethiopia your attitude completely changes. He never realised how much European countries waste and he said he wants to do something to help out now he is back.

“He said he wants to donate money to Comic Relief out of his own pocket.” It marks a change from Norton’s opinion last year, when he described Jolie as “thick” after she adopted an Ethiopian orphan. “It’s so easy to mock Angelina Jolie and her do-good-ing nature but I suppose I’m not helping orphans, am I,” he said. “In a way, I think Angelina is as thick as a plank.”

Norton spent his time in Ethiopia visiting refugee camps and seeing the work Comic Relief has done for the drought-hit nation. He made films for the charity to encourage people to donate money and pals say he is considering making a longer documentary for a terrestrial channel.

Once again the old saying ‘Never judge a book by it’s Cover’ comes into play here. He judged instead of getting out there and seeing for himself and yes, things that are happening in Africa and Asia are truly an eye opener!

I am just happy to see that a lot of people who criticized Angie in the past, like Ryan Seacrest and Graham Norton have had the opportunity to visit Africa and know what’s going on their first hand. A lot of us fans have fought hard on this site to correct all the wrong notions that people had about her and I am happy to see that everything is paying off.
Matt Damon said that the fact that Brad got one hour on T.V. to talk about Africa went a long way, according to him no one got that much time from an America press before on the T.V. to promote African causes. We fans are sticking with Brad and Angelina and I pray that very soon everyone will come to realize what fans have known about this couple for a long time. They are generous, kind and compassionate.

ITA.

Positive reviews of this film have posted on BAMZS threads over the last few months. While the movie enthusiasts were glowing in their reviews, they alway tempered it with their expectations that it wouldn’t do boffo box office because of its length, the director’s approach to the film, and the fact that it is art house fare.

Ed Havens, esteemed editor of FilmJerk, has been buzzing in various forums for the last few days about how impressed he was with a test screening of this film. Our spy was at that same screening, and it sounds like people are really flipping for what they’re seeing. I’ve been hearing fantastic buzz about Casey Affleck’s work for a while now. Could this be one of 2007’s heavy hitters?

Hey Harry and Moriarity, ACTIONMAN here with a new review. You last posted my rave for 300 and boy do I have another one for you.

Last night I caught an advanced screening of THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD (from here on referred to as JESSE JAMES for the purposes of fast typing) here at the Grove in Los Angeles. I’m going to keep this as spoiler free as possible, but let’s be honest here, if you know anything about history or took the time to read the title of the film you already know the ending.

Directed by Andrew Dominik, who previously made the nasty little movie CHOPPER with that incredible performance from Eric Bana, JESSE JAMES is a lyrical, brooding, atmospheric anti-Western that gave me the goose bumps numerous times throughout the 2 hour and 20 minute run time. Dominik has skyrocketed to the top of young directors with this film. I might have expected a film of such power and force from an established director but I just had no idea that this guy was capable of such a movie. He must’ve gotten tons and tons of big Hollywood offers after CHOPPER was unleashed but I’m glad he waited. This film is a masterwork. It’s the closest thing to a Terrence Malick movie that Terrence Malick never directed. I was reminded many times of Malick’s most recent masterpiece THE NEW WORLD while watching JESSE JAMES; there are stretches with no dialogue, heavy emphasis on nature, and a poetic and meditative tone. I hesitate to call JESSE JAMES a “western”….I mean, it’s certainly not a “Western” like the recent OPEN RANGE, THE MISSING, or UNFORGIVEN. It’s not concerned with minutiae or artifice; it’s stark, crisp, and clean.

It’s essentially a psychological study of a murder, and a murderer, and it doesn’t play to many of the more cliché Western conventions that we’ve seen over and over again. I will keep the story description brief: Casey Affleck plays Robert Ford, and is absolutely amazing in the role. I have never thought anything of him as an actor but that all changed last night. He has a very, very tough role, playing a deeply unsympathetic guy who the audience knows will end up killing Jesse James at some point in the narrative. Affleck brings a strung-out, beaten-down quality to the character of Ford, and as the movie progresses, you watch as he becomes more confident of himself, and how he starts to believe his own madness.

Brad Pitt plays Jesse James with cocky swagger and is just awesome. He owns the role, it’s like it was tailor made for him. Just watch the way the guy smokes his cigars and moves his head and eyes….methodical and unnerving. Like Ford, Jesse isn’t a very likeable guy (come to think of it, nobody in the movie is particularly likeable) but you end up warming to him a little bit (I did at least) even though he’s basically asking to get killed throughout the entire picture.

The supporting cast is aces across the board, with Sam Rockwell registering best as Ford’s brother. This guy is so damn good it’s a crime he doesn’t get enough attention. Sam Shepard, Mary Louise Parker, and slew of excellent character actors round out the cast. But the movie belongs to Casey Affleck. He’s just riveting all throughout.

The film is more about style and atmosphere than anything else. It’s a tone poem of sorts about a gritty, dark period in American history. It feels extremely intimate yet very epic at times, due in large part to the stunning cinematography by Roger Deakins (FARGO, JARHEAD, O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU?) Using what appeared to be natural light almost exclusively, and an impressionistic shooting style composed of beautiful vistas, extreme close-ups, silhouettes, moonlight, train-light, and a gauzy effect similar to Bob Richardson’s brilliant cinematography in SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS. It’s just glorious. Every shot is perfect. No joke. I am a big fan of movies that lean on the visual aspects of storytelling to present information; and this being a Ridley and Tony Scott production, no expense has been spared to make JESSE JAMES look totally authentic (without being garish or over-blown) Of late, some of my favorite films have been THE NEW WORLD, CHILDREN OF MEN, THE GOOD SHEPHERD, MUNICH, THE DEPARTED, MIAMI VICE, APOCALYPTO, CITY OF GOD, MAN ON FIRE, and many others. I am attracted to the different ways that filmmakers can present their ideas through visuals, rather than words.

And I just fell in love with this film from the start. From the god-like voiceover narration that runs over the entire movie to the attention paid to each and every shot, there are moments of sublime beauty at almost every turn in this film. It’s essentially an art film set in the old west. And when the story gets violent, it gets extremely intense. In fact, one of the things that I loved about this film so much was the constant feeling of dread and uncertainty that runs through each scene. Right from the start, you get the feeling that any character could meet their maker at any point. And that’s one of the things about the old West that made that time period so dangerous; people got killed in a heartbeat, over simple stuff. And when people get shot in this film, it’s brutal and unflinching. Not sensationalized or over the top, but rather grim and raw. Like what you’d see on DEADWOOD.

What makes JESSE JAMES better than most movies are the moral shades of gray that the characters exhibit. JESSE JAMES is basically about how one man comes to the decision to kill his idol, and in the crudest comparison, I guess maybe the movie is sort of like a stalker-thriller. Ford idolizes Jesse, wants to ride with him, wants to rob with him. But the relationship that develops between the two men is awkward and volatile, giving off an un-easy feeling all throughout the movie.

I know this review is all over the place but there are so many things I loved about this movie. The time Dominik took to tell his story, the gripping performances, the literate dialogue, the incredible scenery, and the breathtaking ending that is so perfect it’s almost a joke. It’s stark, visceral, beautiful, and haunting. But here’s the deal—I doubt you’ll all get to see this version of the movie. I got the sense (maybe from the dozen or so walk-outs, mostly female) that this movie is going to get trimmed and cut and unnecessarily messed with. After the screening, I marched right up to Ridley Scott (who produced the movie with his brother Tony) and told him in these exact words: “Don’t change a single frame of this film.” He smiled, we chatted briefly, I told him how amazing I thought it was but that I felt that the audience might be narrow. He seemed to agree. A cool guy, and one of my personal film heroes.

So, in a nutshell, an amazing effort from a new, dynamic voice in film–Andrew Dominik. I’d assume Warner’s will release JESSE JAMES sometime in the fall, and I won’t be surprised if it’s a limited release at first. While it couldn’t have cost a ton of money to produce, it’s such a specific niche-film that I fear it will get overlooked. If that were to happen, it’d be a crime. A complete crime. There was absolutely nothing I didn’t love about this movie, and I could only hope that 10 movies of this caliber would get released every year. THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES is the kind of movie that makes me happy to be a film buff, and one that I can’t wait to re-watch over and over again. Please, please, please Warners—don’t take anything out of this gem. You’ve made an art-film….treat it with the respect it deserves.

Is Gala a tabloid? i just question whether Brad would let one of his children appear in a movie esp at such an early age.

Its strange that its only US weekly that is reporting about the feedback from the test audience screening of TAOJJ. and they dont even have details when the test audience happened and not a bit of review of the movie. It just said that it was a dud or that some viewers left. Its so easy to say those things, and i dont understand why they can say the movie is a bust just because they wanted the film to be more action than a psychological western.

I just think US weekly is so jealous of Brad and Angelina’s good relationship with PEOPLE Mag, and although they also dont like aniston because of her previous denials of their story, US weekly is forced to cover Aniston and give her positive write-ups together withe their B&A negative write-ups just to counter act PEOPLE mag’s constant positive coverage of B&A.

Tabitha yes. Gala is a German tabloid and not a very accurate one. It was the first magazine that had the pictures of the family with Shiloh in NOLA where Brad was promoting the rebuilding process with Global Green. Their article though was a combination of their interviews, quotes from unnamed “sources” and many inaccuracies. It was a positive article but a Tabloid article none the less. So I will no trust it too much.
