OlderAngelina Jolie ‘Transformed’ in Chad

Here are some of the highlight’s from Angelina Jolie’s recent trip to a camp housing Darfur refugees in Chad via Newsweek:
…But you do have photographers following you now. It took me a while to agree to do it. I guess I saw that so many times the picture comes before the knowledge and the substance and I certainly didn’t want to do that to myself or the organization. And also, I really just was shy. I was shy about sitting on the floor and talking to a woman and having a camera take a picture because I thought it was making less of my conversation with her. But… I was changed by the faces of the people I saw. “It is something that I am incapable of describing…those faces and that place and those people. And so I think it’s just—let the people speak for themselves through the camera. And if I can draw you in a little because I’m familiar, then that’s great. Because I know that at the end you’re not looking at me, you’re looking at them.
Do you still go with so few people? I can’t believe you take no one with you… I take no one. I [go] by myself on a commercial plane and into the field with my backpack.
You still do that? Yes, I just did that on my last trip. I met the photographer there.
In the camp? No, in the airport. We didn’t even realize we were on the same flight. We landed at like midnight and got up at like 5 in the morning to catch the WFP [World Food Program] plane [to a town near the camp].
People will look at these pictures of you in Chad and ask, “What can I do?” What should they do? There are great NGOs like SOS [Austria's SOS Kinderdorp] and there are great NGOs inside and under the U.N. that you could send aid to. It’s important for the American people to know that a lot of people believe—I certainly believe—that it has been their outcry and their interest that has motivated our government. I think that the American people have paid attention to Darfur—a really amazing groundswell of people that really care, and are moved and emotional about the things they’ve seen when it is brought to their attention.

My oh my, thanks for the news susie, This goes on to say you really can’t put a good woman down. That’s why the haters are going crazy. I usually posts at the Angelina news in google but I got so sick of the insane people out there. Angie keeps on rising above all this craziness and this also shows that there are still people out there in the media that sticks to the truth. It is such a good consolation to know.

Libra 21- it is hard to put AJ down, notice how the haters seem to be under the illusion that AJ owes the world something, like what child she adopts, how she performs her humanitarian work and so forth. I guess no one told them that she owes us nothing. Now, regarding fug face, this person has been nasty a long time and I can’t figure out how it stays under the radar. Very nasty.
WOW. I went back to this thread and saw all these beautiful pictures of AJ that were not there before. Thanks JJ. You rule. Let me say again how I admire AJ for going to Darfur. She looked so beautiful inspite of what must be a very difficult environment. God bless her, her family and fans.

Can I say something? I was a ‘Friends’ fan right from the begining and I allways liked and admired the women on the show. I was happy for Jennifer when she married and sad when it ended. (I’ve been there) But, I have ALLWAYS, FROM THE BEGINNING, admired Angelina Jolie and I was only mildly surprised when she came between Brad and Jennifer’s marriage and yet I believe her current good works are not inconsistant with that too. The truth of the matter is Angie has never been happy at nibbling at life. Her appetite is too ravenous for that. She has allways feasted on life. And while many people here think this is a new changed AJ, it isn’t really. She and her appetite have just grown. I think what seperates her from Jennifer (and most of us) is that Angie is an Icon and everything about Icons are large; flaws and virtues. In due time we will realize she belongs to that catergory which includes such mesmerizing women as Marilyn Munroe, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietriech, Josephine Baker, Audry Hepburn and others who transcended their beauty into goddess-like stature. She’s a goddess, not a saint.

neil—- great post, the only thing I’ll comment is, even though I liked “Friends” it was a cast of six and __ was one out f six and the rest were even more funny than the__. But you know who got involved with an A-lister (Brad)and got all the publicity, she never was or never will be an A-lister HW movie star, she should have stuck with TV, but her ego thought she could do more, well she was wrong……And now her fans are literally shi*ting in their pants. Why is this such a surprise to them, she is just a sit-com actress…..
Hey neil, I like your post but I want to point out that Jen’s marriage failed, because according to Brad he was unhappy in his marriage and his life was going nowhere. Angie did not come between Brad and Jen’s marriage - if we stick to Brad and Angie’s quotes.

Guli- ITA, I never understood why Chin got so much attention. She has always seemed so boring and unattractive to me. I watched Friends too and she was the one who brought the least to the table. Didn’t she win best comedy actress at some show? I never understood that, the other cast members really outshined her and I guess it must have been Brad that brought her into the spotlight.
Neil- I agree, she is an icon living larger than life and she most certainly is mesmerizing. It’s good to see a man here too.

Ignore the haters, the stupids, the loonies, etc. They are so full of hate and ignorance that they can’t even produce an intelligent reason why they dislike this amazing woman. X has long cease to be a reason. The blob comment is dead, so is everything else that is insanely stupid. Their only dying cry is her weight. All of us have suggested they look at movies, stills, etc, that show her being the same size then as now. They won’t do the research. They just hate blindly. In another post I stated that she is not even in the top 20 richest women in HW, yet she builds clinics, schools, animal reserves, conservation projects, purchases equipment sewing machines to help women become self sufficient, books, medical supplies, etc. Yes Oprah, Bill & Melinda, and Bono give, but this woman makes so much less than any of them. Plus neither Oprah nor Bill and Melinda have gotten down and dirty like she does. I consider myself to be a pretty well informed person, but I have learned somethings I didn’t know by reading her book and articles, truthful ones, about her travels. Don’t ask what is her point? What is your point? What are you doing? Why are you here? Not just on this site, but this earth? We all will be held accountable for what we did while here on this earth. For those of you who accuse her of being a home wrecker, you don’t know that. Look at your life, your records. Your thoughts. Remember God forgives whom he chooses, and rewards whom He wills. It is said that good deeds will follow long after a person is dead, and good deeds will wash away a mulitude of wrongs. Remember Angie was doing this before she met Brad, therefore she has a huge stack of good deeds. Hate slingers remember hate is a sin, and sins will get you only one reward, if that is what it is called. Wishing evil on a person, their children, their family is a sin. Peace.
