Here are some of the highlight’s from Angelina Jolie’s recent trip to a camp housing Darfur refugees in Chad via Newsweek:
…But you do have photographers following you now. It took me a while to agree to do it. I guess I saw that so many times the picture comes before the knowledge and the substance and I certainly didn’t want to do that to myself or the organization. And also, I really just was shy. I was shy about sitting on the floor and talking to a woman and having a camera take a picture because I thought it was making less of my conversation with her. But… I was changed by the faces of the people I saw. “It is something that I am incapable of describing…those faces and that place and those people. And so I think it’s just—let the people speak for themselves through the camera. And if I can draw you in a little because I’m familiar, then that’s great. Because I know that at the end you’re not looking at me, you’re looking at them.
Do you still go with so few people? I can’t believe you take no one with you… I take no one. I [go] by myself on a commercial plane and into the field with my backpack.
You still do that? Yes, I just did that on my last trip. I met the photographer there.
In the camp? No, in the airport. We didn’t even realize we were on the same flight. We landed at like midnight and got up at like 5 in the morning to catch the WFP [World Food Program] plane [to a town near the camp].
People will look at these pictures of you in Chad and ask, “What can I do?” What should they do? There are great NGOs like SOS [Austria's SOS Kinderdorp] and there are great NGOs inside and under the U.N. that you could send aid to. It’s important for the American people to know that a lot of people believe—I certainly believe—that it has been their outcry and their interest that has motivated our government. I think that the American people have paid attention to Darfur—a really amazing groundswell of people that really care, and are moved and emotional about the things they’ve seen when it is brought to their attention.

Sheri- I’m trying to get all the hot air out of my house, it’s making me crazy. I’m trying to figure out when A and B were riding their ATV’s, it must’ve been sundown b/c it is so friggen hot on the coast here that I cannot imagine why they are wearing long sleeves.

JERUSALEM (AP) - Leonardo DiCaprio arrived in Israel with supermodel Bar Refaeli this weekend, creating a paparazzi storm that by Monday led to a scuffle outside the Western Wall.
The 32-year-old Oscar nominee and Refaeli, 21, have been romantically linked for about a year, and the Israeli papers regularly run breathless updates on their relationship, tinged with pride that a local girl snagged an A-list Hollywood heartthrob.
The two apparently hoped to slip into the country unnoticed on a night flight from Frankfurt, Germany. But the plane was also carrying a group of Israeli entertainment reporters on their way back from a press junket in Ireland.
By the time the two headed for Refaeli’s family’s home in an upscale Tel Aviv suburb, it was besieged by dozens of photographers desperate for a glimpse of the two. Popular TV host Guy Pines even rented a helicopter to survey the scene from the air, a first for Israeli media coverage, he said.
On Monday, the pair eluded their pursuers and traveled to Jerusalem, eventually visiting the Western Wall and its subterranean tunnels in the Old City, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.
But the visit turned violent upon their exit, when the couple’s bodyguards scuffled with photographers waiting outside. A number of journalists said they were punched and their equipment damage.
DiCaprio has received Oscar nominations for his roles in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,”"The Aviator” and “Blood Diamond.” Refaeli is featured in Sports Illustrated magazine’s recent swimsuit issue.
But more than anything, Pines said, Israelis are happy for a diversion.
“The fact that most of the headlines here recently haven’t been pleasant turns the interest in this beautiful fairy tale couple into something the media can revel in,” Pines said.

Yeah but she has no choice. She’s not in the limelight anymore, and it really isn’t her decision believe me…if she could be there, she would be there. heh. The latest thing I read, she’s catching flack yet again for something else stupid that’s come out of her mouth — she was supposedly name dropping all over the place in the Spanish Vogue she’s in this month (blah blah my kids have playdates with Stella McCartney and Madonna blah blah blah)….it was said she comes across as very silly and hauty and more than a little shallow.
Poor Paltry, I think she actually THOUGHT she was big enough to move across the pond, marry a dude like Chris Martin and still be as big as she was during her heyday with Brad. Muahahahaha. These beeshays are so delusional.
She probably saw that Madonna had done it successfully, so she would too.

Her Oscar might have something to do with it, but as Adrien Brody and Hilary Swank show, winning an Oscar (or even 2, in ol’ Hil’s case) doesn’t make you a huge movie star…or even a medium sized one. Those two can’t get arrested. You can add Paltry to that bunch. Paltry is missing the one thing that made us ever care about her at all: Brad.
As someone said, she gets residual attention now due to Brad, and a relationship 10 years into the past. Which only serves to illustrate the power of Brad not her.
That’s why Maniston is freaking out and her PR people won’t let go of Brad’s coattails. They see their future.

Brawl at Elizabeth Hurley’s ‘Big Fat Indian Wedding’
British actress Elizabeth Hurley and her husband Arun Nayar were to leave the Indian desert town of Jodhpur on Saturday after their three-day wedding celebration ended in tussles between journalists and police.
At least 10 journalists suffered cuts and bruises as police and security guards clashed Friday with paparazzi trying to snap the marathon event, dubbed the “Big Fat Indian Wedding” by local media.
“The great wedding ends in chaos,” the Hindustan Times daily newspaper declared in a headline on Saturday.
Complaining about lack of media access to the event The Indian Express’s headline was: “Famous for being famous, Liz and Nayar let paparazzi down”.
The dust-up came outside the ancient sheer-walled Meherangarh, literally “Majestic Fort,” where the couple held a lavish wedding feast following their traditional Hindu marriage at the hilltop Umaid Bhawan Palace hotel in Jodhpur.
“The security guards and police were punching and shoving the journalists. At least 10 (journalists) suffered bruises and cuts,” said AFP photographer R. Raveendran, who was nursing a bleeding thumb.
“The police and security people were also roughing up locals, who started shouting ‘Go home Liz’,” Raveendran said.
Afterwards a security representative of the couple apologized to the journalists, he said.
Exclusive media rights were sold to British celebrity magazine Hello! for a sum reported to cover the seven-figure cost of the nuptials, which began in the Britain and were capped by three days of non-stop partying in the desert state of Rajasthan.
Nayar, wearing an off-white traditional Rajasthani suit, rode to the ceremony on a horse. A pair of camels, bedecked with tassels and copper bells were part of the procession as musicians serenaded the couple with clarinets.
Hurley was dressed in a sari designed by top Indian designer Rohit Bal. She had her hands painted in intricate henna designs and was wearing gold ornaments.
However, the couple was only able to take four turns around a ritual sacred wedding fire instead of the customary seven because their clothes kept getting entangled, the Times of India reported.
The couple, who held a set of pre-wedding parties in Mumbai, India’s financial and entertainment capital, was reportedly planning to head back to the city for post-wedding celebrations.
The guests, numbering around 250, were flown into this city of palaces aboard seven chartered flights, airport officials said.
Back at the Umaid Bhavan hotel, staff were looking forward to some rest, the Hindustan Times reported.
