Angie was a n Oscar awardee and multiple golden globe awardee. she’s a good actress. I know the only role of Angie which was panned by the critics and public was Olympia in alexander. others incluidng Sky and tomb raiders were mostly raved. I don’t think most films of Kate W. Cate B, Rachel W were all blockbuster. these actresses have more flops than successful films. while I think its unfair to compare Angie with Merly Streep. how old is Angie and how old is Meryl ? beside Merly is already a legend. at this moment, no actresses can be compare with her .

You keep saying general public and most ppl I know….well how many ppl do you know? Unless you know personal close to …I don’t know…..150,000,000 (U.S. population is close to 300,000,000) then you don’t know what most of the general public thinks about Angelina Jolie and her choice of film roles. Despite all that, Angelina Jolie, like all good/great actress, have flops and all the actress you name have had more then their fair share of flops including Meryl Streep. Not all roles someone choose will be a big commerical success.

Funny - the movies you mentioned Anonymous-253 does not have her in it as the lead role. Yet, from all the critic review of those movies - she has always been said to have performed amazingly: the pilot role she played in Sky was intended to be expanded into her own movie and the mother figure in Alex even overshadowed Kilmer and Farrell. Her characters are memorable - even the small scene-stealers like Gone In 60 Seconds.
(Mind you, Sky fell apart because of the BAD acting of Paltrow. She was laughable and idiotic in that one. People were walking out before the movie got halfway where Jolie’s role was because of how horrible she was)
And, where she is lead like TombRaider - her films did very well!
Rachel’s and Kate’s movies in recent years weren’t moneymakers as well, just critically-acclaimed. However, these ladies have had experimental movies as well that were overlooked.
As for Jolie, she is has both the respect of the movie industry and the very huge ‘international’, generation and gender-reaching fan base!

Jeez - Rachel just won her Oscar for Best supporting in 2006, Angie has had hers since 2000. She has NEVER been nominated before her win in the Oscars.

You should check out Beyond Borders because that movie is about UN Aid workers.

no….he doesn’t have a history except that he was abandoned and was taken care by the orphanage….he is one of severals orphans taken care by employee of said orphanage….they named him whatever they think should be his proper name…..now, he has a history, a family who claim him as a member, a part of this family, a new beginning….and what is it to you if she changed his name…..did they asked your opinion???….the nerve!!!….he’s her son so butt off!!!

Last night I watched Showbiz Tonight, only after I saw a post on the other jj thread about Angie. AJ Hammer had two women on discussing Angie’s adoption. It seems AJ has had an emphany of sorts since last week. Well one of the women, I think she was from the Post was asked what she thought about Angie adopting the little boy from Vietanam? She didn’t have anything too negative to say about that, but her main concern was that they were adopting to close to the birth of Shiloh. It seems she feels that Shiloh will be left out and not get the amount of attention she deserves. I thought that was mighty white of her to be so concerned about Shiloh. The other woman didn’t have those concerns. She thought the adopting was a great idea, and that Angie intimidated people by doing what she wanted, living her life according to her and Brad’s design. She felt that people were jealous because she was not afraid to travel around the world alone, to do good again, according to what she felt etc, etc. And to adopt outside of the so call normal family. To redifine what a family was/is. Even AJ agreed with her. An emphany or a good talking to must have happened because he always rags on Angie. I think the Post woman felt rather stupid after she articulated her concerns, which are stupid if you think about them. Being concerned that a child will not get the attention he/she needs and that they were adopting too close to the birth of the bio child smacks of racism and phony self righteous concern. She was not concerned that Z would go lacking. Just Shiloh.. People never know how stupid they truly are until they open their mouths.

People, if Brad were going to cheat on Angie do you honestly think he would do it while she was away and with the whole world watching no less. Get over it. They are together, even if she is in Vietnam and he in LA. With the exception of the blabber mouth of Vietnam, these people keep their private life private. I can’t imagine that Brad would do anything to embarrass Angie. If could respect, the one who will remain nameless, he surely would not embarrass his babies mama. Peace.

Guli, I posted a reply to your post. But damn, there are so many different threads now I forget where I posted it. I did get yours with the e-mail address for Youtube. Thanks for that.

Let’s be clear. Angie didn’t say she was going to stay home forever. She said she would be a stay at home mom for now. Bet she’ll be pregnant by the end of the year. That will cause heads to spin and explode.

Also remember Brad once said that Angie only made movies to help support her causes and charities not that she wanted to be a big star. She can do commericals in Japan to make money when she is not working. I’m sure they pay well. Plus with her being nominated to that think tank more things will come her way. People, who truly count, see her value as a spokesperson, and all around good person. Peace.
