Angelina Jolie Saves St. John Knits

It was just announced that Angelina Jolie, St. John’s current spokesmodel, will again appear in the Fall/Winter 2007 St. John Knits ad campaign, which will be photographed soon.

Said creative consultant and former creative director Kelly Gray, “You know I can’t give you the shoot dates but she is definitely a part of that creative team and I’m proud to be a part of it.”"

Said St. John chairman Jim Kelley, “We lost our way for a while with the product. We’ve got the business back on track. Things are proceeding really well.”

Angelina helped rejuvenate the dying St. John label, which is now worth over $400 million.

#63 Kit says: I agree with you and would like to take it a step further. Angelina
Jolie is in a class all of her own. She makes an older woman want to be young again, and a younger woman want to reinvent herself. Lucky Brad!

If Huvane is NOT orchestrating the negative press, then he and his client are up the creek - by doing the Vanity Fair article and other articles/antics a while back they created a monster and now the press and other dummies in the public can’t view his client as anything other than a woman scorned. Pity might have seemed attractive at the time, but 2 years later it’s a turn-off to would-be suitors and employers.

If he and his client ARE orchestrating the negative press then they are truly clueless. It hasn’t enhanced his client’s career. Didn’t people insist on a new ending for the Breakup because they didn’t want to see her dumped again (in a movie)? Talk about limiting your career options! Also, what man wants to be involved with someone who is obsessed with smearing her ex and his new family? VV didn’t last too long. And the smear job will have done nothing to slow down the careers of B and A, or the happiness and growth of their family.

————————————-

Excellent post bermy! I agree - I’ve sometimes wondered of late, if Huvane wasn’t deliberately trying to deep-six her career. Truly, it makes no sense. This is a case of Maniston cutting off her nose to spite her face - or to sue another cliche, she was unable to see the forest for the trees. The trees being an immediate gratification in sharing rags and mags with the ‘new’ super hot coupling of ‘Brangelina.’ Maniston’s ego is such, that she only saw the immediate payback of sharing magazine and ragazine covers and having her name attached to theirs - starting a tabloid ‘war.’ I’m sure at the time, and even in the several months that followed she may not have been able to see the way in which she was taking a sledgehammer to her own career. Like you say, she is the eternal victim and woman scorned - everywhere BUT Hollywood, as they know her for the lying media manipulator she and her PR guru Huvane are, and bottomline THAT is the only place that counts in the end. Brad Pitt isn’t her tormentor, or the person that ‘did this to her,’ in HW - he is the same upstanding honest good hearted man he always was. THAT is what the reality is, and that is why she’s made more enemies than she even knows.

As I said a long time ago — if she had wanted to repair some of the damage she’s done, she would do her best, in small subtle positive ways to make it seem as if there is no grudge and no ill-will (NOT by saying there is no ill-will and bad feelings), but by actually saying happy positive things, and deigning to use Brad’s name (and even -gasp!- Angelina’s), and wishing their family the best.

What she calls ‘moving on,’ is actually the opposite - because her statements are negative, and have to do with the ‘triangle’ she and her publicist created — essentially, what she’s doing then, is equivalent to saying to the public, “Please, I’ve moved on - and I forgive Brad for beating me.” LOL These kinds of statements only fire up her hater fan base, and essentially say that she had reason to be at war to begin with. When we know she did NOT. However, hearing Aniston herself put things in that way, consequently have the haters thinking to themselves, “Jen is even more wonderful than we knew, she can forgive that lying cheat for doing this to her.” It’s a WACK passive aggressive tactic…a negative, couched in a positive. It really is abhorrent, and makes me loathe her almost as much as if she hadn’t said ANYTHING.

She’s a liar. She’s disingenuous. That’s the truth. I mean after all, it would only be natural for someone CLAIMING she’ll love a person “for the rest of (her) life,” to wish him well publicly, KNOWING how a fraction of said public (her fans) may perceive him and his new family. But she never has - and of course, that statement was yet another passive aggressive Vanity Fair moment - designed to give her her cake, so she could eat it too. She didn’t really mean it. She does not love or care about Brad Pitt.

Kylie Minogue was in a similar situation as Maniston, with her ex-boyfriend Olivier Martinez. The tabloid media, particularly the UK and Aussie tabloid media (some of the worst rags in existence) were all ready to make Kylie the new singing dancing ‘Pop’ Jennifer Aniston. Tabloid after tabloid screamed that Olivier had been cheating and that is why they broke up. Kylie is very much loved, and has a huge fan base, especially after conquering cancer as she’s done - so of course, they went after Olivier with guns blasting - dragging up things and maligning his character ala what Maniston did to Brad. When the truth of the matter was, that man not only helped Kylie through her illness - she lived with him in his home and he took care of her - to which she was/is forever grateful! She did not like that they were Anistonizing him. This was a case where because she DID LOVE THIS MAN, she write a column telling the rags to STOP IT, and describing Olivier - the kind of man he was, in glowing wonderful terms. The fact that he was no longer with her, and may have been with someone else, was not enough for her to trash him for all time.

That’s LOVE.

But Maniston? Maniston sh*t all over Brad, and betrayed him as bad as Paltry in my opinion (On some level, the horse is out of THAT particular barn…I don’t Brad will ever consider her a friend again - he’ll be civil, and polite…but that bridge is TORCHED baby…No more ‘we kept the love we have for each other’ - he is DONE..she showed him her TRUE colors) - and she STILL hasn’t made amends…the day she does, I’ll be the first one dropping MY grudge against her.

I won’t hold my breath, as she’s as dumb as she is fug.

That’s fantastic! I love Angelina’s St. John’s adverts - they’re some of the best pictures of her to date! *_*

Susie - “pompous pompadoured fatty” hee hee. You have a way with words.

The Brangelina Phenomenon Continues, With Mr & Mrs Smith Voted Favourite Celebrity Endorsers For Any Fashion Apparel: ACNielsen.

Many companies rely on the use of celebrities to endorse their brands or products in the hope some of their celebrity ‘cachet’ will rub off and appeal to their target customers. Yet are these brands being matched with the right celebrity in the mind of the consumers?

According to a global online survey conducted by ACNielsen in 42 markets across the globe, out of a random list of celebrities, power celebrity couple ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ – Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – were voted the best to endorse almost every kind of category, be it casual or luxury wear, watches or sunglasses, evening wear or lingerie, sexy or trendy/cutting edge fashion. The powerful celebrity ‘couple’ garnered the greatest number of votes from online consumers, followed closely by Jennifer Lopez and David Beckham.

Angelina Jolie’s appeal was most prevalent in South Africa and Europe, and selectively in Asia Pacific countries like the Philippines and Malaysia. In North America, Jolie was beaten into second place by Jennifer Lopez, and alongside Aussie favourite Nicole Kidman, who seemed to be equally suitable to represent a range of fashion apparel for millions of Americans and Canadians. Besides ranking No.1 celebrity of choice to front designer watches, designer wear, evening wear and luxury perfumes among consumers of almost all ages, Kidman also ranked well at home in Australia for all glamour products. Across Asia Pacific, Kidman and Julia Roberts both outranked ‘J-Lo’.

“Their country of origin certainly has an influence, but their profession or the types of films or songs these celebrities are associated with over time will also have a great influence on consumers’ votes,” said Bienvenido Niles, Regional President, ACNielsen, Asia Pacific. ”The ACNielsen global survey revealed not only consumers’ choice, but also revealed any potential dissonance between the qualities these celebrities are trying to project and how consumers perceive them.”

As leaders in their chosen sporting field, Maria Sharapova (43%), David Beckham (40%), Tiger Woods (37%) and Jackie Chan (15%) were unquestionably the best candidates to endorse sportswear products - money well-spent for sportswear marketers. Angelina Jolie, having starred in a number of action films including Lara Croft and Mr & Mrs Smith, seems to have acquired a bit of an ‘action-girl’ image, creating an association in the mind of some consumers (17%) as a good sportswear association.

In fact, to consumers in some markets, the celebrity effect can work its magic on any category, if the celebrity is adored enough. Beckham in Hong Kong is a perfect example - voted the best celebrity to endorse not only sportswear (47%) but also designer lingerie (31%), trendy/cutting edge fashion (30%), designer sunglasses (29%) as well as sexy/provocative fashion (25%) – beating big screen celebrities like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in those categories!

Global internet users also have an opinion as to who would best represent intimate products like lingerie, picking Angelina Jolie (28% globally, and a third of those aged 21-34), and Brad Pitt (33% globally and 35% of females) the best spokesperson for designer lingerie. Along a similar line, both are unanimously regarded the most appropriate to endorse sexy/provocative fashion according internet consumers, and especially those aged between 18 and 44. Over 50 percent of Koreans and South Africans also lent strong support to Jolie.

“The aspirational nature of product endorsement by celebrities makes it highly effective in mature as well as fast growing markets, where people are increasingly enjoying higher disposable incomes and are looking to buy an ‘image’ that will better project their growing social status,” said Mr. Niles. “One size doesn’t fit all, though, and marketers need to consider a number of factors before committing to a celebrity endorsement contract.”

The ACNielsen Global Online Survey, the largest twice-yearly survey of its kind, is aimed at gauging consumers’ opinions to a variety of subjects ranging from current confidence levels, major concerns and attitudes as well as spending habits/intentions.

#67 Guli…thanks for that MAMS gag reel. I love to hear Angie laugh, and she has such a lovely smile. Watching Brad and Angie have fun while working did indeed bring a smile to my face. Thanks again!

She’s going to be the no. 1 endorser out there because let’s face it shes’s a high profile person. People got to see what she wore to Davos when she was pregnant. People got to see what she wore to GG and she was voted the best dressed by Cujo. People are going to see her dressed for her next assignment in June when she becomes approved for the International Advisory Committee. She’s doing a lot of great things.
Please let’s be positive and not promote what the haters are saying. We can click the delete buttons for that.

Susie we got beaten so badly it was embarrasing! Still, for a country our size to have made it there in the first place was an accomplishment so we’re still proud of our guys.

Truth - I totally agree! The haters all try to discount or bring _ into the equation. This is another bit of happy news. Lets not let them!

sorry bermy girl, to us you guys are still winners

What's In a Name? @ 03/17/2007 at 12:57 pm

From International Adoption blog

Angelina’s adoption: Now they’re quoting me?

So, now I’m part of the spin? Sheesh.

Just when I thought I’d said all I needed to say about Angelina Jolie’s most recent adoption, seeing that I have no first-hand knowledge at all … just like everyone else, including those who still feel the need to formulate and postulate opinions formed on smoke and mirrors … I learn that I have been sucked into the spin.

In an article in a Dubai newspaper on the subject, I am quoted.

Thankfully, this particular story doesn’t take the usual condemning stance; in fact, it’s quite even-handed in its tone and content.

Taken from Dubai newspaper:
Some Vietnamese involved in adoption said Jolie made a donation to the Ho Chi Minh City orphanage where she adopted the boy on Thursday, although no one is saying how much. Less wealthy people have also done the same. Many adoptive parents are moved to donate toward humanitarian causes such as the care of people disabled by chemicals or unexploded ordnance from the US war in Vietnam that ended 32 years ago when the communists unified the country.

Unfortunately, the line they claim to lift from me would hardly be one of my more brilliant, and I do wish they’d gone for something a bit more pithy than:

“Whatever is going on in the Jolie-Pitt family is none of your business,” one blogger, identified as Sandra Hanks Benoiton wrote on
http://international.adoptionblogs.com.

In fact, although they attribute this as a direct quote, it isn’t. What I actually said was:

“… You know diddley squat about what’s going on in the Jolie-Pitt family. What you read in the media, believe it or not, is NOT the true scoop. AND, and this is a big and, it’s none of your business!”

See how that works? What they said I said was not the same as what I said, even though they put it in quotes as if they were saying EXACTLY what I said.

And that is how it’s done. This is very simple, clear and personal example of the press in action.

Now, does anyone still think that they are getting the straight scoop from what they read?

Now, at least, I can fulfill my life-long dream of being in a pageant. Alongside Miss Taken, Miss Conceived and Miss Informed, I’m going to get myself a formal gown … I’ll skip the bathing suit competition, thankyouverymuch … and wear a sash that reads:

Miss Quoted

About to leave to NJ for the weekend…glad to catch this great news. St. John photo shoot, for one day, hardly “going back to work”. Well done Ange for reviving the label!! What a woman. Love it that another hater’s delusional denail goes up in smoke :)

Number 3 you can see that she was pregnant. She is so beautiful
